1. What have you learnt about technologies from
the process of constructing this product?

2. The Depth in Film
One thing I have learnt from this experience is the
intriguing depth of the film making industry.
Obviously there is a lot of different branches and
streams of film including genres and techniques.
However, the size and differentiation of various
companies, sub-genres and types of film techniques
is new to me and it’s been interesting to learn
about the different skills needed to fit into each
element of film making.

3. Editing
A big part of the process of making the opening titles was the
editing and although I have edited small clips for YouTube, I
haven't had to worry about difficulties such as continuity and
lighting or sound. The intricate detail that has to be put into
editing is a high standard and adapting to this was quite a
challenge. Having to learn new techniques and soft-ware was
the kind of thing that had to be learnt in this course and I’m
glad that I have as it is a good skill to have in the upcoming
generation of technology.

4. Camera-Work
In all honesty, I was a complete newbie when it
came to handling a camera before I started the
filming of the opening titles and especially the
course itself. However this may have seemed to be
the most challenging element in the process, it
turned out to be the most enjoyable. I really
enjoyed working the camera and somewhat
directing the scenes. I have learnt elements such as
angles, composition, mise en scene and many
others and they helped greatly in the opening titles
and made the film better.

5. The Importance of Planning
Honestly, organisation isn’t my strong point, but
this task has opened my mind up to the importance
of planning and the significance of schedules and
pre-filming design. It wasn’t a lone effort and my
group and I realised that there is a lot to the
organisation of the actual title sequence. Although,
creativity has to be blended into this organising
technique and improvisation does sometime have
to be used to get the most out of something. So
even though we planned our titles, we needed to
think off of the top of our heads to get things right.

6. Finally, I’ve learnt that making a film would be impossible
without a team. Even making a 2 minute clip of the start of a
movie would have been unmanageable without the other 2
members of the team. Even then we though we were at a
disadvantage because of our small group. When making a
film, it is essential that you have a good team and that you can
communicate with each other all of the time and can relate
and brainstorm together. Ideas don’t come from one person,
they are built up by contributions from numerous people until
they can be put into the project. Working together wouldn’t
have necessarily been something I would have thought I
would have put into the ‘what have you learnt’ category but it
truly is something that makes or breaks a project and this task
has proved that some things need more than 1 to succeed.
