Skills acquired How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
During filming I learned to use a
camera and tripod in order to
shoot my footage.
The software which I mainly
used throughout my production
was called 'Final Cut' which
was a video editing software.
I also used programs such as
'Photoshop' and 'Garage Band'
to edit images and create
music.
I used a program called blogger
to upload my coursework and
productions.
During filming the tripod wasn't
really very helpful as I filmed a
lot of my shots by hand due to
constant movement with the
camera.
Blogger was very useful for
storing my work together.
For my A2 project I will be more
likely to use the tripod as we
are filming a music video which
shouldn't require too much
movement of the camera.
I will also be able to use the
editing skills which I learned
from using Final cut and
photoshop in my AS
coursework to help me edit my
A2 project.
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
I used final cut to edit footage
and add/remove audio from
clips.
I also used photoshop to edit
images which appear in the
project such as; Logos.
A lot of my filming was outside
which meant there was a lot of
background noise, from things
like cars, wind etc... However,
using final cut I was able to edit
out the audio on the necessary
clips and replace it with audio
which was later recored.
I can take my knowledge of final
cut and photoshop which I
gained from AS and use it to
help me during my A2 project.
Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
One skill which I achieved
through the Research and
Planning parts of the project
was time management, which
proved essential for deadlines.
Developing my time
management skills ensured that
I could spend the appropriate
time on each task, also allowing
me to have time to look back
over on work and check for any
mistakes or missing work.
For my A2 project I hope to
develop my time management
skills even further in order to
have more time to check over
my work.
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
I analysed an opening
sequence from the film ' The
conversation'. I also did a 9-
frame analysis for the film
'Taken'
Developing my analysing skills
helped my check over and
improve my own project.
During my A2 project I am
required to complete; A 9-frame
analysis, a digipak analysis and
a music video analysis, this will
hopefully mean that I am able to
develop my analysing skills
along the way.
Creativity
- were your ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
I decided to stick the normal
conventions for supernatural as
I thought it would be best fitting
for the target audience.
Sticking to the conventions
helped me understand what
was and was not acceptable for
the genre .
For my A2 project I plan to
maybe stray away from
conventions in order to create a
unique piece.
