Looking back at their preliminary task, the author feels they have greatly improved their editing skills. Their editing in the full product is smoother, cleaner, and more professional looking compared to the preliminary task. Researching how to use Final Cut Pro helped improve their editing. They also learned to better implement different filming techniques and shot types from analyzing comedy films. This led to a better final product. Additionally, the author learned how important timing and planning is. Creating an action plan for when and what to film prevented wasting time and led to more focused filming.

to the full product.

2. Editing
 Looking back at my P – Task I have noticed that my editing
skills have progressed massively, from my P – Task to now I
can see that the editing is smoother, cleaner, and more tidy.
Its less clunky and looks more professional and more like a
proper film opening.
 Researching about how to use Final Cut Pro really helped
me in this project as there is a clear difference in the editing
aspect of the two videos. This shows that research is key
when something is not your strong point and can really help
you with new projects.

3. Filming
 From the P – Task to now I have watched and analysed
many more comedy films, this has helped me learn about all
of the different comedy conventions and how to implement
them into our film opening. In our P – Task although it wasn’t
a certain genre we didn’t include many different and
interesting shot types, in this project I tried to emulate the
genre to the audience and use some of the shot types I saw
in other comedy films.
 From the P – Task I also learnt how to use the camera better,
this meant a better film was made as I knew what everything
on the camera does and when to use it effectively.

4. Timing
 Whilst doing the P – Task we didn’t have to make an action
plan and sort out when we are going to do specific things,
instead we just went and filmed it. I have learnt that timing is
very important and key for filming of any kind as you need to
set out when you are going to film and what you are going to
film otherwise you will just go out with no drive or ambition
and end up walking around without filming anything.
 Simeon and I made an action plan and set out when and
what we was going to film, this meant that we didn’t go out
and walk around for hours thinking what to film, instead we
went to the location we decided on and filmed what we
wanted to film straight away.
