2. CAMERA WORK
In terms of Camera work I used my own Camera to film my thriller
opening. The camera I used was a canon 750D. Usually I use this
camera for photography (to take photos) so, I didn’t have much
experience in using it for film. I taught my self how to film on this
camera and how to make certain shots look good.
My production skills have improved massively within my camera work
as I now know how too film on my camera and film certain shots,
making them look as good as they can.
I have learnt how to film close ups, extreme close ups, wide shots,
long shots and many more.
This will help me for my future projects as I now know how to use my
camera confidently in filming.
3. FINAL CUT PRO
To edit my thriller opening I used a program called ‘Final Cut
Pro’ I chose to use Final Cut as after experimenting with both
this and premiere pro I found that Final cut was more versatile
and easier to use.
During the time I used Final Cut to edit my thriller opening I
learn how to easily select, trim, speed up and slow down clips. I
also learnt how to add all kinds of different effects to each clip
such as, black and white, earthquake, bad TV etc; I learnt how
to add titles to my thriller opening whilst being able to
experiment with different fonts and sizes.
Using Final Cut Pro has developed my production skills in many
ways. I am now experienced with film editing and I will
definitely be able to use Final Cut Pro confidently in the future.
Final Cut helped me a lot in making my thriller opening look
more professional and more interesting. Some of the effects
used fit it with a lot of the typical conventions of a thriller and
4. PRELIMINARY TASK
At the beginning of this project I was able to film a
preliminary task to help me throughout the rest of the
project. During the preliminary task I acted as one of the
actors. However, after filming this I edited the
preliminary task on Final Cut Pro.
Looking at how my production skills in terms of editing
have developed over the course of this project I can see
that they have developed massively.
When editing the preliminary task I only needed to trim,
select and drag the clips I wanted into the final product.
However, in my thriller opening much more was required
such as effects, titles, music etc;
5. QUICK TIME PLAYER
For parts of my evaluation, this required me to screen record
certain things such as, my film, other clips from other films,
power points and more. In order to do this, I used Quick
Time Player.
I learnt how to do a lot on quick time player such as, video
recordings, voice recordings and screen recordings.
Quick Time Player has helped me develop my production
skills in making me more familiar with the program, helping
me a lot during the progress of creating my thriller opening
in allowing me to refer back to my film easily and much
more.
6. AUDIO NETWORK
In terms of my music, I used a program called ‘Audio
Network’ From audio network, I was able to find the perfect
music to fit my thriller opening.
Using audio network has improved my production skills
widely as finding the right kind of music for my thriller
opening was challenging.
After eventually finding the right music I had to make sure
that my music fit well within every part of my thriller
opening, this was also quite challenging as making sure the
music looks good but also fits the typical thriller
conventions, was hard.
