Here is my promo vid assessment task

1. For my level 3 media work I was tasked to create a promotional college video and a
poster to match with the video first of all we used a Huawei p10 plus to film the video
as we were not very confident with the cameras and we believed that this option
would be easier and have a better final product.
We worked In groups together and gathered a plan of where we were going to film
and how it was going to be achieved I suggested filming the college from the bridge
so we could get a good shot of the college I believe this looked nice in the finished
product because we could a get a wide shot of the full building to advertise the main
building in our promo.
We all had specific roles in which I believe my team carried out very professionally.
Dan was the editor and did some cinematography as he wants a future career in
editing although we all had a input in suggesting ideas to him he also picked out
some nice shots which really made the finished video looks professional.
I was directing and did some cinematography as I’m in interested in directing and I’m
looking to further improve my skills in that part of media I also did some
cinematography choosing shots and filming as it is also something I’m interested in I
believe some of my ideas and input really helped improve our video.
Travis did the voiceovers and also did some cinematography I think he done the
voiceovers very well because they sounded nice and could reach out to the viewer
most people enjoy people having a voice feeding them information about what they
are interested in, he also volunteered to do them as he felt the most confident out of
the 4 of us he also did well contributing with some cinematography like filming and
he did a bit of shot selection these are good for the promo because he suggested a
variety of shots like close ups etc.
Luca another member of my team did cinematography and he also did the same as
us choosing shots and filming.
We only encountered one issue and that was the camera on the phone we were using
had some technical difficulties it kept coming in and out of focus to fix this we had to
just manage the shots as best as possible.
We did a small portion of pre production planning where we would film and how it
would be carried out successfully I believe we could have spent more time in pre
production because planning things throughly results in better outcomes preparing
and I will look to plan more in the future.
We used close ups and wide shots in our video to gather good footage we also moved
while gathering some shots so we could get some of the environment in for editing
we all did a small portion of editing but Dan focused on the editing as he was the
most experienced at it and we weren’t 100% confident on it suggested putting

2. transitions in to build the shot up and it paid off as I’m very happy with Dan’s editing
and the teams contribution.
For our sound we decided to cut the sound and mute it then we put the voiceovers
in and put the music over the top we did this to make the video sound better and get
rid of all the street audio for editing Dan used transitions to move onto the next shot
and sped some things so it can help fit with the scene I am happy with this result as I
think it makes the finished product much better. If I was assigned this activity again I
would do more pre production because I believe its better to be more prepared.
For my poster I decided to keep it college orientated that’s why I used the same
colour scheme and I googled some images of other Sunderland college posters to
gather ideas. I am happy with my result as I think it looks appealing to parents who
want there child to study at college or to a student who is looking to enroll to college.
