1. In this broadcastproductI used many of the conventions that I heard and
came across in previous researches. Things such as jingles and the structureof
the productI took into consideration to try and better my productand make it
as professionalas possible. With the Grimshaw research I tuned in to one of his
live shows and listened to how he used extra effects to his advantagewith
things like catchy jingles which keep the listeners attached and also
entertained.
One of the main reasons I used jingles and those sorts of conventions were to
target my audience which was schoolchildren as they have the most relevance
to the broadcastproduct. I used upbeat music which is morelikely to keep the
attention of teenagers and also the style of language I used was complex but
not too sophisticated as I want the youth to be able to understand the whole
broadcastproduct. The structureof my broadcastproductis also suitable for
teenagers as it flows through cleanly with music playing every once in a while.
Whilst making my radio broadcastproductI had to include many things such as
fades and background audio. I firstutilised the fade out when I started to
introduce my radio product. The audio’s purposeis to engage the younger
listeners to the radio product. This eventually leads to having a more
interesting and entertaining radio productwhich the younger generations can
then go on and relate to.
I recorded my scriptindoors using a microphoneto ensurethat I get the best
out of my environmentin terms of sound. However when interviewing I went
to the students after schoolactivity and asked them the questions with the
background to give it a more of a natural feel. I believe that the quality of
recording that we got was good and any unwanted noise that wecame across I
was able to cut out when editing the audio.
In my audio productthe presenter was clear and fluent throughoutand spoke
with an enthusiastic voice which lightens the mood in the product. As we are
targeting our producttowards the teenagers and adults I thoughtthe
presenter shouldn’tbe too dull however he also shouldn’tbe too uplifted. The
use of jingles in the audio also made it a better broadcastproductas it became
more entertaining, I believe that the jingle that was used was suitable for the
age range that my radio broadcastproductis aimed towards.
2. In terms of editing I feel that my radio productflows well and is not
interrupted by any background noises. Theway the producthas been recorded
it originally flowed smoothly, so after that all I had to do was cut out any
unwanted long pauses which prevents any senseof awkwardnessand also the
feel of the audience feeling as if the presenter doesn’tknow whatto say next.
In conclusion I feel as if the broadcastproductis fitting to the original criteria,
for example using things such as jingles and fade ins and outs add to the effect
of a radio broadcastproductwhich was in the criteria so I believe that added
to it becoming a better productoverall.
I feel as if I have used enough skill and put in enough time to my broadcast
radio productto show that I have completed it to a high quality. I am certain of
this as I usually listen to the radio and in my audio I have used many of the
conventions and styles that they usually use in each of these. I don’t believe
that there is much that can be improved however the volumeof the fade could
get a bit lower beforeit cuts out but that is one negative in what I believe to be
an overall well done product.
