Film ‘The Destroyer’: bad reviews but enjoyed by presenters. Director underrated
Knowledgeable
Podcast – to inform
The podcastwas very laid back and casual, however it was still informative to the audience
in terms of giving a detailed critical analysis on the film. This was despite the fact that they
mentioned the film got very negative reviews – both the presenter enjoyed the film. For the
main part of the podcast, it was mostly dialogue. However, the beginning we heard a jingle
for the podcast, followed by the song le Freak by Chic. The presenters then spoke about
the song for a few minutes and then went on to read a few things fans a told a couple of
stories. These includes one about a supermarket and one about the gym. Referring to the
film, the Destroyer, which was being critiqued, the presenters also said that despite the
negative reviews, the director was underrated. They are certainly trustworthy opinions and
both the presenters had background knowledge, such as about the director and his
previous work. This demonstrates that for the audience, this podcast is very reliable in
terms of giving an in depth analysis on what they thought of the both. This includes positive
and negative aspects. The target audience for this podcast would be most likely middle
aged people, gender specific who enjoy films. Therefore, this would suggest that they are
going to be middle class, with a relative amount of disposable income to spend on going
out with the family to restaurants, the cinema etc. This podcast was different to the other
radio stations we listened to previously, as it is more informative and more educational.
There was only a small amount of music and very little adverts. Whereas, on the radio
stations we had listened to before, they were mainly focused on playing music and there
were many more adverts, designed to be easy listening broadcasts to have on in the
background.
