Camerawork
Make sure you do not use zoom.
Use a camera stand instead of using a hand held camera.
Use the rule of thirds.
A range of camera angles should be used.
Make sure everything is in focus.
When shooting a close up make sure that the image of the face fits into the camera
screen.
Make sure the camera is in a steady position.
Make sure you use a strong composition.
Make sure you keep focus on the actors face.
Mise-en-scene
Use correct costume.
Use correct props.
Use make up if necessary.
Make sure the location is suitable.
Low key lighting used if the scene is mysterious or if it fits the genre.
Use high key lighting if it fits the genre.
Make sure the lighting is correct so people can see what is going on.
Do not use the school premises to film.
Sound
Use different types of sound.
Use ambient sound if necessary.
Digetic sounds should be used.
Non digetic sounds such as gun battles bullet shots should be used.
Background music, make sure it is relevant.
Try to dull out sound that isn’t specific.
Avoid using loud music
Editing
Fast paced editing used if necessary.
Slow motion used if it is in a fight sequence and fits the genre.
CGI used if possible.
Special effects used but do not overuse.
Not disjointed.
Do not over edit.
Use a variety of editing techniques.
Not long scenes.
