My Story is called ‘A Magical Adventure’.
*The Planning Process:
I chose to write a fantasy genre because I thought it might be fun to write a
story that is just made-up by our creativity.The most interesting thing about
my main character is that Sparkle wants to stay in the kingdom for peace, but
Snow wants to get out of the kingdom to take an adventure for her joy and
curiosity.We chose to the set the story in the jungle because we wanted a
place that suited the fantasy genre, and we thought the jungle that is upside
down with some elves in the grass would be nice.While making my plot
diagram, I found it enjoyable because it was fun to brainstorm and make a
summary for a 5minute- long stories. My best idea during planning was
choosing the main characters (Witch, Sparkle and Snow). While planning this
story, I learned how to write sizzling starts, use verbs and write dialogue at
the beginning.
*The Drafting & Revising Processes:
It was difficult to write my story draft because we had to change the spelling
mistakes and sometimes, we should take one whole part of the story and
trash it, and in that part, we should put a whole new scene in the chapters.
I am proud of my story because we had great pictures and we made it
dramatic with Na Youn’s loud voice really representing the witch’s voice. It
was so funny!During the Writing Workshops, I learned how to writesizzling
starts, using verbs and writing dialogue at the beginning.I became better at
writing with creativity.While talking to Jacqueline Harvey, I learned that to
make one book takes at least 6 months to make. If I wrote it again, I would try
to improve my story by adding more details about why Snow wanted to take
an adventure.
*Digital Production and Editing:
I found it enjoyable to create the storyboard because when we finished it, we
knew what to do and making a story was very quick. My role was to be the
Script Writer.I worked very hard at revising our story.The thing I am most
happy with is our garageband recording. While making the movie, I learned
many new technology skills in iMovie. I became much better at using
computer technology. If I made the movie again, I would try to make the
pictures much prettier.
*Collaboration:
Sometimes, I enjoyed group work because I could hear much better ideas for
our story.Other times, I didn’t enjoy group work because we had to choose 1
idea.While working in a group, I learned that stories could be made by
teamwork.During the unit, our group became better at recording voices
fluently.
*What else?
During this story-telling unit I especially enjoyed creating the digital story.
After this unit, I will continue to write some interesting stories for fun.
