 According to my audience research, the majority of
people interested in pop music were 13-18
 I originally planned for the target audience to be 13-23 based
on the general codes and conventions of music videos
Gender
 The target audience is predominantly female
 Usually females relate more to songs sung by other
women
 Also, more women liked the pop genre than men
Sexuality
 Heterosexual
 The general codes and conventions of music videos
consist of a man and a woman
 People generally want to relate to videos (as seen by
the Uses & Gratification theory)
Income/Social Class
 My target audience is students in full-time or part-time
education
 Students are category E (of the ABC1 Scale)
 Music videos are free to watch providing you have a TV
or access to the internet
Possible Interests
 My target audience should have an interest in:
 Pop music
 Music Videos
 Performance and narrative based videos
