This document discusses the target audience for a teen musical opening sequence. It recommends that the audience be ages 12 and up, as this is when viewers can understand storylines and is the beginning of adolescence. Both female and male viewers should be encouraged. Typically, teen musicals appeal to teenage females and males interested in musical theater, singing, dancing and acting. The audience will likely enjoy upbeat music, dramatic shows and films, and relatable themes about relationships, family, dreams, and school.
2. AGE RANGE
• I think that if the viewer is above the age of twelve, it will be suitable for them to
watch, as they will be able to understand the storyline.
• I also think this is an appropriate age due to the fact that other teen musicals
such as ‘High School Musical’ (1,2 & 3) and ‘Hairspray’ are watched for the first
time when girls/boys hit that kind of age.
• Lastly, the age of twelve, in my opinion, is the beginning of adolescents.
3. GENDER
• I would encourage our film to be viewed by females and males.
• This genre usually appeals to teenage females or males who take an interest in
musical theatre/singing, dancing and acting based.
• Stereotypically speaking, this genre usually appeals to teenage females, with an
interest in singing, dancing and acting or not.
4. OTHER MEDIA INTERESTS
• People who enjoy these kinds of films, are people who are typically interested in
upbeat, catchy music, dramatic television shows or films and relatable situations
within the media.
• By this, I mean scenarios in films, television shows and music that have relatable
elements to them such as relationships, family, dreams, school or something even
more personal.
