The League of Nations played a key role in resolving the Upper Silesia dispute between Germany and Poland from 1919-1921. The League organized a plebiscite that saw 700,000 vote for Germany and 480,000 for Poland. After six weeks of discussions, the League decided to divide the territory between the two countries, giving Germany just over half and Poland the industrial areas, while also safeguarding minority groups and infrastructure like rail links between the territories.
