ACHIVEMENT OF THE LEAGUE
OF NATION
According to some thinkers , league of nations
in its actual working and aims , it will be
wrong that it achieved nothing during its 20
years of existence .
During its period of existence , the league was
required to examined 40 disputes . It was the
most successful in the case of small states as
compare with the big states.
 It was the one of the early dispute which was brought
before the league . Which arose between swedan and
finland . The difficulty in the league was that both
swedan and finland were not its members .
 In june 1921 the council gave its decision in the
favour of finland and declared that it should have
sovereignty over the island.
 The Alanders were gurantee the autonomy and the
protection of their political rights . Both swedan and
finland accepted the decision of the league.
During the year 1920-1921 Germany wrote the
source letters to league of nation in which its
protest that it was wrong to give its territories
to belgium.
The league september 1920 declared in favour
of non altering the decision already taken and
the secretary general of the league informed
Germany that its decision was final.
 The matter was reffered to the league in 1924 .
 In this case the situation was quite serious as numbers
of borders incidents had occurred . Britain on the behalf
of iraq said that iraq should be gives mosul ( oil rich
area ) as a natural lordes .
 On the other hand turkey was of the view that it should
have it because people of mosul wanted to line with
turkey
 In june 1926 a treaty was signed between turkey and
great britain by which a small part of mosul was given
to turkey . The boundary was recognized as defective .
Some loyalties in the form of mosul fields were given to
turkey.
 In august 1923 , an italian general , two officers and one
chancellor were murdered on greek soil.
 The Italian government demand apologies and full
reparation of the crime . As Greece refused to accept all the
demands of holy , the latter occupied the island of corfu .
 In september 1923 greece reffered the matter to the league
council . The league made the decisin that greece should
accept the demands of italy . Italy was asked to leave the
corfu .
 No compensation was paid to Greece . All this happened
because Greece was powerful and Italy has a strong nation.
It was in december 1928 that armed clash took
place between Bolivia and Paragvay over the
possesion of choco island .
 Though both the countries were member of the
league and yet don’t refer the matter to the
league .
 The league on its own intiative took up the
matter and suggested both the parties to
peacefully resolve the dispute.
 In 1921 ,there arose the dispute between France and
Great Britain over nationality in Tusin and Morocco .
 Actually france issued nationality decrees . These related
to Tusin and Morocco .
 In there it has provided that any person born in France
and in any territroy of France colony shall be france
citizen .
 The decrees conflicted with the britain nationalities laws
. The matter was reffered to the permanent court of
justice , which opinion that it was not purely domestic
affair of France.
 Both countries should settle down the problems. The
foreign ministers of both countries settled their dispute
