2. COSTUME
For my main female character I am aiming for her to be dressed in fashion
that isn’t currently modern and try and add certain items of clothing to give
it the model a more traditional look. Throughout my video there will be a
wide range of different costumes used to ensure that the audience
maintains engaged and interested to avoid boredom. I will be using denim
whilst my model is dressed in hopefully a playsuit, aswell as wearing a
range of flowy floral dresses. I believe these are the most suited to the
genre of music being portrayed as costumes such as black stereotyped
leather clothing would not match the lyrics or the genre.
Alongside the clothing I am going to ensure that my main female singer
has a wide range of backpacks to suit her girl next door image. This will
allow the audience to interpret that she is a sweet innocent girl therefore
linking to the emotions sung through the lyrics. I have to ensure that all my
props and costumes are suited to the genre of the music as the audience
would begin to loose interest as they would become bored due to the
genre not following the conventions and stereotypes.
3. Artist styling
When styling my artists hair and make up I am aiming to keep it simple
however professional. I do not want my artist to come across to the
audience caked in make-up and coming across really fake looking as its
not a current song, and the look would not suit the lyrics and genre of the
music. Therefore I am aiming to present my female artist (Monique Todd)
with simple plain wavy hair alongside pure innocent looking make up. For
example when comparing to a successful artist I would compare my artists
looks to Taylor Swift as she isn’t over the top as she stays looking natural
and is liked by the public.
Although I have not yet decided who will be taking my male role I have a rough idea on how I
expect him to dress. I want him to follow a casual role instead of constantly appearing formally as I
the choice of music follows a chilled out theme. Therefore I will display him in jeans with a casual
top along with converses to suit. However I will also ensure that I am frequently changing his outfit
due to the interest of the audience becoming more likely to decrease. This means that to keep
them engaged they must have a range of outfits with a variety of colours to meet the moods and
emotions.
