The document summarizes the results of a questionnaire about audience demographics for a proposed magazine. The majority of respondents were teenage to young adult females who prefer rock music. Blue was the most popular color but may not be suitable for a rock magazine. Respondents preferred competitions as the form of reader interaction. Most respondents were willing to spend £2.99 for the magazine.

Age Range

From my questionnaire results, I have found that the
majority of the respondents are in the teenage to
young adult age group. This means that my magazine
has to cater for younger audiences and may have to be
more informal, depending on the genre that was
selected the most which we will see later on in the
presentation.
Along with this, I have to be more direct in my
magazine due to younger audiences being shown in the
media to form stronger communities and fan bases for
any fandom.
3. Gender

Gender
Male Female Other
The majority of the respondents are female, but
the margin between genders is not large so I feel I
can still try to make my magazine as gender equal
as possible, or at least try to appeal to what
society considers masculine and/or feminine.
Females are also shown to be more
fixated/obsessed/dedicated towards an idol(s) so I
feel that they would be better fans for a magazine.

Genre
Classical Dance Electronic Latin Pop Rock
The majority of the respondents selected rock music as
their favourite genre of music, but this is very likely
from how the majority of the respondents were also in
the 15-24 age range, and the number who selected rock
also correlates with the number of respondents in that
age range.
To be honest, I’m actually relieved about this because
rock or pop were the genres I am most willing to do
because I’m always exposed to those genres of music,
while genres such as classical or dance are for more
older audiences and I am not as exposed to as much.
5. Favourite Colours

Colours
Red Yellow Green Blue Purple
The most favoured colour chosen by the
respondents was blue, which I think I may find
difficult to incorporate into a rock magazine since
the main colours used in rock magazines are black,
white, red, and yellow.
However, red was the second most favoured colour
and I know I will be able to use this colour a lot for
the rock magazine. I may be able to incorporate it
into my masthead and already make the colour
stand out.
6. Reader Interaction
Interaction
Crossword Wordsearch Competitions
The most preferred form of reader interaction was
competitions. It’s very likely that this form of
interaction was chosen the most by the younger
age ranges as you tend to see crosswords in
newspapers which are typically read more by
older people.
7. Price Range
Sales
£1-£1.99 £2-£2.99 £3-£3.99 £4+
I have found that the average amount of money
people are willing to spend on a magazine, a
specialist magazine, is £2.99. I figure this would be
appropriate and have decided to price my
magazine around £3.
Realistically, this would also be more appropriate
due to my magazine not being known. Other more
known specialist magazines would charge higher
prices.
