1. QUESTION 2- HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT DIFFERENT SOCIAL
GROUPS?
2. Only one person is seen within the film opening. A young girl who is dressed like any
other teenage girl. Back top and denim jeans, this is an example of a typical teenage
girl. The fact that we don’t see the girl’s face adds to the enigma and leaves the
audience with the question of who is she?. This is significant as we wanted to make
our main character as normal as possible as we wanted the audience to relate back to
her and not make her superior than others watching the film.
Also having our main character having romantic gestures and gifts sent to her by her
love interest and not accepting any of them also makes her atypical as normally a girl
would accept these gestures but after just going through her parents divorce (which
we would show later in in the film) she doesn’t think love and relationships is a good
thing at this time. I think it was a good issue to pick up upon as many teenagers are or
have experienced their parents divorcing and we thought that they could relate to
Katie that way.
