Knowledge Pre-requisites
Some prior experience of credit risk, risk-based management or of the Basel II Accord is required
which could, for example, be gained via the Introduction to Credit Risk Management training. In
addition, it is assumed that delegates are familiar with common financial terms and have a basic
understanding of banking and the functions of a financial institution.
Expert Profile
Dr Natalie Schoon CFA CAMS is a risk management expert, Islamic
banking and finance expert, a certified financial advisor and CAMS qualified
anti-money laundering professional.
She advises clients globally on risk management and Islamic finance. Prior
to this, she was working at Bank of London and The Middle East plc as Head
of Product Development, before which she was at Barclays Capital where
she worked as a senior consultant on the Basel II programme. Natalie has
worked in international financial organisations such as ABN Amro and Gulf
International Bank.
Dr Schoon is a certified CISI Islamic Finance Qualification trainer as approved
through Risk Reward Ltd and has led industry-focused workshops and
seminars throughout the UK, (British Bankers Association), Europe, USA, the
Gulf States and MENA region as well as in Islamic south-eastern Europe.
She began her career in Islamic Finance whilst working in Bahrain, Kuwait
and Dubai during the 1990’s. Natalie holds a PhD in financial analysis (thesis
subject: Residual Income Models and the Valuation of Conventional and
Islamic Banks) and is an accredited trainer for the Islamic Finance
Qualification which she teaches globally.
In April 2010 she was appointed Visiting Fellow at the ICMA Centre, Henley
Business School at the University of Reading. Most recently she has been
involved in the setting up of an Islamic financial services infrastructure for
an Agricultural lender in Afghanistan

Participation into seminars: Although the seminars are open to everyone, for
each seminar advisory explanations are provided as to “Who Should Attend?”
However, some seminars “definitely” require some base level knowledge and
those who do not possess such background are discouraged from participating.
What are included in the training seminars? Registration Fee, training
materials, lunch, coffee and snacks in the morning and afternoon, and Certificate
of Participation are included. The prices do not include accommodation and
18% VAT.
Seminar venue: The seminars are delivered at The Hilton ParkSa Hotel
(Bayildim Cad, No:12, Macka, Besiktas, 34357 Istanbul). Reasonable prices and
preferred booking are available for participants as per the agreement with the
hotel.

Terms of cancellation: In case of cancellations, if you inform us 7 days prior to the date of training,
the payment will be refunded immediately within 1 working day. If there is less than 7 days, the
refund will be done after 30 % is deducted. Requests of cancellation less than 3 days before the
training will not be considered and no refund will be done. Amounts that are deducted and not
refunded will be invoiced to the company/person. Under the condition that we are informed 3 days
prior, date and type of training can be changed without further requirements.
The company retains the right to postpone or cancel the training, or to merge it with the subsequent
