Social, Political, And Economical Cause Of The Mexican...
Social, Political, and Economical Causes of the Mexican Revolution There were an abundance of
social, political, and economical factors that led to the Mexican Revolution. Socially, there was a
great displacement in the treatment between the elite and rich classes and the poor classes.
Politically, what once started out as a Republic, after they had won their independence, had
transitioned into a tyrannical dictatorship. Economically, Mexico was over dependent on loans from
foreign nations such as France, Spain, England, and The United State of America.
AFTERMATH OF WAR OF INDEPENDENCE Mexico had gained its independence from Spain in
the year of 1821, although a substantial amount of damage had been inflicted as Mexico was in
disorder and decay. The economy was in shambles, as Mexico owed money to The United States of
America, France, and England. Also, the social classes experienced a drop–off in upper class
citizens as every Spaniard was forced out of Mexico after the war for independence. Economically,
many industries such as mining, textile, and others became useless, as there was lack of production,
because of the absence of the Spaniards. The effects of war were very visible throughout all of
Mexico as villages were left ruined, roads were neglected, and about 15–30 percent of the male
populations were unemployed.

The Museum Experience
One of my favorite things to do when traveling in a new city is to visit the museums. I have never
been to a city that did not offer the usual museum fare, usually in the form of the "Anytown Art
Museum", or the "Anytown Museum of Natural History". While these types of museums house
some incredible artifacts, and I do visit them often, I also like to seek out museums of a more
unusual sort.
Museums are mostly the same just about everywhere you go, both in the United States and Europe.
They offer the visitor a glimpse into the past culture of any given city or country by displaying relics
found throughout the world. But there are also many museums that showcase artifacts of the culture

The most profound image I took away from the Barbie collection was the development and various
uses of plastics from those early years to today. Toy museums are popular for two reasons, they
show an aspect of a culture that an art or history museum may not address, but more importantly,
they take the visitor back to their own childhood when they see the toys that they played with when
they were young, and awaken the imagination again in ways not known for years. Another popular
topic for museums in Europe is the torture museum. The Dungeon, in Prague is the only one I have
visited, but there are several others as well in Germany and France.
In fact, there is a website devoted to torture museums in Europe. Torture was a common practice in
Medieval Europe both for punishment and gathering information, and I suppose the fascination lives
on. The Dungeon displays some interesting instruments used in the Middle Ages. They run the
gamut from the traditional thumbscrew, to various brands that were used to signify the type of crime
committed, to some very painful looking stretching racks, ankle screws, and hanging devices.
One interesting device, called the "Crown of Thorns" is an iron ring with several nails woven into it.
This ring is placed on the prisoner and pounded down around his skull until the

Omidyar, the company's 31–year old chairman. It was September 15, 1998 and Wall Street was still
reeling from a summer of severe market volatility. Much of the market's instability could be traced
to bearish worries over a deepening and continuing economic crisis in Asia and other developing
markets. Many investors feared that the U.S. economy would be unable to resist what was termed
the "Asian Flu," and that economic recession was eminent. Although U.S. interest rates were still

Omidyar added several clever ideas to eBay's web service to stimulate interest. First, he adopted an
auction–like trading format to not only create a sense of urgency, but also allow buyers to follow the
bidding status for each item. Secondly, he provided sellers with opportunities to "spice up" their
auction pages. Sellers were encouraged to upload pictures of their items or add music. Thirdly,
Omidyar created the eBay Community, composed of registered traders sharing in common interests
and passions for collectible and tradable goods. eBay listed all participants' email addresses and
provided chat rooms, such as the eBay cafe, where eBay community members could talk about sale
items, hobbies, or other non–trading related topics. Finally, eBay allowed users to discuss the
relative quality of items, sellers, and buyers in the eBay community by providing a "Feedback
Forum" for community members to interact. eBay's first auction occurred on Labor Day 1995. Three
years later, with over one thousand categories listed and 70,000 new sale items added daily, eBay
had become the largest and most popular person–to–person trading community on the Internet. The
goods traded on eBay's web site included: antiques, sports memorabilia, books, toys, cars,
computers, dolls, coins, jewelry, electronics, photography, and music. The company neither received
goods nor payments for goods, but simply provided an arena for buyers and sellers to interact. To

The Battle Of The Alamo
The Battle of the Alamo is probably the most famous battle to take place in the history of, and in the
state of, Texas. The battle has given Texans the will to persevere against tough odds and the courage
to endure through seemingly impossible situations for many generations. Many a Texan would draw
inspiration during the fights following the defeat at the Alamo. This inspiration eventually led them
to victory during the Texas Revolution following the Battle of San Jacinto. Had the Texas military
correctly utilized their intelligence and combat assets available to them at the time, they would have
been able to properly reinforce the Alamo. This would have allowed Texan leadership to develop an
effective strategy to defeat the Mexican army ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Santa Anna was elected President of Mexico in 1833. In 1834 he repealed the constitution and
established himself as a dictator, which played a major factor in the Texas Revolution. With the
constitution repealed, the Texians did not have the same benefits as they did when they first settled
in Mexico. Under the oppressive rule of Santa Anna, the Texians began to rebel (Callcott, 2010).
The Battle of Gonzales
The apprehension between the Texians and Mexicans began to shift towards a war when a Mexican
force led by Francisco De Castañeda was instructed to take a cannon from the rebels in the city of
Gonzales. Castañeda was instructed to try to retrieve the cannon without force in order to prevent it
from being used against the Mexican authorities and because the slightest act of aggression would
likely push the Texians over the edge. The Texians, led by John Henry Moore, refused to cooperate.
They even attempted to negotiate with Castañeda and his force to convince them to side with the
Texas cause, as they shared the same principles in regards to Santa Anna's dictatorship. After
Castañeda refused, because as a soldier, he was obligated to follow orders, a minor battle ensued.
Although it was almost insignificant, it gave the Texians a spark and the rebel cause was able to
increase recruiting efforts for the larger altercations that would occur in the next few months
(Hardin, 2010).

The Battle Of The Alamo
Introduction
Few battles have had such an affect on the American experience as the battle of the Alamo. This
battle is the subject of heroism, sacrifice, and valor. Would American history be the same if this
historical battle had never taken place? What would the implications be if the defenders of the
Alamo never sacrificed themselves for Texas independence? Although poor decisions and misuse of
available intelligence directly contributed to the devastating loss, the defeat at the Alamo was the
catalyst for the future success of the Texas Revolution. The defenders of the Alamo achieved their
goal of an independent Texas through their sacrifice. In this paper, I will examine the Alamo by
using the four–steps of battle analysis and discuss the implications of an alternate outcome for the
battle of the Alamo.
Discussion
Definition of the Battle
The Battle of the Alamo took place in San Antonio de Béxar in a former mission originally named
San Antonio de Valero in 1744. In 1803, Spanish soldiers stationed at the mission renamed it the
Pueblo de la Compañia del Alamo after their hometown. The primary adversaries of the battle were
the centralist Mexican military led by Antonio López de Santa Anna and the Texas revolutionaries
led by William Barret Travis and James Bowie. The battle took place over the course of thirteen
days and ended on March 6, 1836 with Santa Anna victorious (Tinkle, 1958).

LSD: Is it Still Medically Viable? Introduction: The psychedelic drug LSD, short for Lysergic Acid
Diethylamide, was a drug used for the treatment of mental disorders and alcoholism in the 1950s.
After a twenty–year reign, its use stopped why psychiatrist were prescribing the drug like Pez
Dispensers. Unknowingly these doctors were overdosing their patients. The question is, if prescribed
correctly, could LSD still be a useful medicine, or do the risks outweigh the benefits. Doctors and
loved ones of alcoholics might greatly benefit. If the taboo were removed this drug could still be
useful. History: LSD's mind–altering properties were discovered in 1943 by Swiss chemist Albert

chronic headaches. So far reports show that when used correctly all patients report emotional ease
and none have reported panic or delusion. (Medical Uses for LSD, 8). According to "Medical
Daily", LSD shows a positive trend in reducing anxiety in just two sessions. What's more, it seems
that now that LSD is being regulated better no studies are finding the ill side–effects of the 1950s.
Prescribing LSD to combat alcoholism is proving to be very successful (Science Daily). The effects
last several months with the patient not drinking. Scientists believe that repeated doses coupled with
standard alcoholism treatments will give a sustained cure. My Views: LSD should be available for
medical use. If prescribed correctly studies show no side–effects. All the man–made drug of today
have side–effects that are typically worse than the issue they are treating. We do not need to rule out
any medication that does not have these side–effects. I am quite sure that if I had a family member
that was suffering from a personality disorder or alcoholism, I would give them LSD. We need to
allow the psychiatrist to prescribe LSD once more and just strictly regulate its use. If effects last
several months why no give patients only one dose so they cannot use too much

Strategic Alignment As The Internal Consistency Of The...
Kaplan and Norton (2006) define strategic alignment as the internal consistency of the activ– ities
that implement the different attributes of strategy. Environmental sustainability drives firms to not
only develop corporate environmental proactively but also to move toward green/sustainable supply
chain management (Aragon–Correa and Rubio–Lo´ pez, 2007; Seuring and M¨ uller, 2008).
Monczka and Petersen (2012) suggest that environmentally sustainable supply chain management is
an integrated strategy which must align closely with and support business strategy in response to a
changing marketplace. When alignment is lacking, Monczka and Petersen (2012) mention that
supply management cannot sup– port the business in response to socioeconomic pressures. Thus,
firms must align their SC and CE strategies in order to boost the overall firm performance. So it is
very important for firms to understand their strategies, and the co–relationship between corporate
strategy and the supply chain strategy, what sort of resource and capabilities and how to develop the
capabilities to help achieving the strategy, and what are the effects of the strategies to both sides, and
what is the influence means to the alignment of these two strategies?

The Battle Of The Alamo
Abstract The Battle of the Alamo was more than the name simply implies. It was more than a battle
between two opposing forces during the Texas Revolution. It was a battle of competing political
issues between the Mexican government and the interests of the United States of America. It is
difficult to truly understand the significance of the Battle of the Alamo without describing the events
that occurred before. Before the actual Battle of the Alamo, the Mexican Army conducted a 13 day
siege. The prelude of the Battle of the Alamo will help those unfamiliar with this pivotal event
understand how everything culminated in the 13 day siege and eventual victory for the Mexican
forces. The Alamo The building in San Antonio we call the Alamo, originally was built as the chapel
of the Mission San Antonio de Valero. It was built in 1724 outside of San Antonio de Bexar, which
is modern day San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this mission was to help convert Mexican–
Indians to Catholicism. During this time, Mexico was still a colony of Spain. In 1794, construction
was halted, rendering the compound incomplete. The compound later adopted a new name when a
group of Spanish Soldiers began using the compound. The Soldiers hailed from a Mexican town
called Alamo de Parras. The mission was then called The Alamo (Ramos, 1992) . The Onset of
Filibusters Before Texas was officially a part of the United States of America, men known as
Filibusters traversed throughout America.

The Accomplishments Of Sam Houston
Contrary to the typical stereotypes of Texans, Sam Houston was much more than a drunkard and an
excellent gunslinger. Although, he possessed these traits as well, Houston displayed a certain level
of maturity, honor, and critical thinking that most men, or even women, at the time did not own. To
assume Sam Houston was a one trick pony, or only skilled in one aspect merely because of his
heritage and place of birth would be an understatement, as his father was a major . The tall,
handsome troublemaker did not fit in with the standard expected of boys or men during his time,
however, he is one of the most revered political figures not only in Texas's history, but also the

or as fervently as his siblings during his childhood, whether it be on the family farm or the general

Personal Selling
During the starting years of eBay, Pierre Omidyar adopted a very simple approach into selling,
which is, "there is always a market for any product that you are selling, the only challenge is in
finding that right target market."
So instead of establishing a retail store that simply deals with the buying and selling of products,
Pierre instead adopted the approach of getting people connected from all over the world.
Over 40 Million products are sold over eBay, not through their own manufacturing power but rather
through the collective collection of the people, distributors, and manufacturers.
Furthermore, for a fact that there a number of manufacturers whom are registered users that are

SWOT Analysis Of Persistent Poverty In South Carolina
Poverty in South Carolina is an issue for all citizens. The issue is particularly acute if you are a
citizen living in poverty, but the issue is of critical importance to those citizens that must support
those areas stricken by persistent poverty. Unbeknownst to many South Carolinians is the persistent
poverty corridor in which certain counties struggle much more than others along Interstate 95.
Allendale County stands out even amongst its peers as a county that is struggling to address
multigenerational poverty. This paper deals with Allendale County poverty beginning by offering
insight into poverty issues within South Carolina, followed by a SWOT analysis, a finagling
offering a few possible solutions.
Persistent Poverty in South Carolina
Poverty within the United States is defined as "having an income below a federally determined
poverty threshold. " Poverty thresholds were developed by the United States government in the
1960s to benchmark levels of subsistence. Over time these thresholds are often adjusted to account
for inflation; it is now typical for the federal government to adjust the poverty threshold levels
annually. Poverty levels represent the government's estimate of the point below which a family has
insufficient resources to meet their basic needs. Any family with less income than the established
poverty amount is officially classified as poor or as living in poverty. Income, as defined by the
federal rules, can include cash and cash–like welfare

The Battle Of The Alamo
After the United States won its freedom from Britain, there was another revolution occurring in the
west, the Texas Revolution. Like the United States, Texas wanted its independence from Mexico,
but was not going to transpire without a fight. "Remember the Alamo," (1836) was a quote used by
Texians following the Battle of the Alamo to inspire soldiers as they led their attack on the Mexican
army at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Battle of the Alamo was a turning point during the Texas
Revolution and forever will be remembered as so in Texas' and the United States history (New
World Encyclopedia). The Alamo, which means "cottonwood", was initially built by the Spaniards
for accommodating native religious services in 1724 and up until 1783 ("The Alamo," n.d.). When
Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1810, it was transformed into a cavalry unit that was
operated by Mexico. As time went on, colonists from the east were getting word of the vast amount
of inexpensive lands available in Mexico's northern territory called Texas. Mexicans were not
pleased with the land hungry settlers occupying their lands and Texians were not pleased with
Mexico's over controlling government. "In 1835 the Mexican President and General Santa Anna
proclaimed a new constitution that increased the power of the Presidency and reduced the power of
provincial governments" (New World Encyclopedia, paragraph 4). It was said that General Santa
Anna was so brutal, that he would reward his men by

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Alamo '
The Alamo is one of the most iconic historical events in America. Its known by everyone to be the
Symbol of American courage and self sacrifice, but many people do not know the events
surrounding the Alamo, such as how it was over 11 days long (Febuary 23 – March 6, 1836), or
even what conflicts lead up to the inevitable battle between the Rebels and the Mexian loyalists. The
story leading up to the Battle of the Alamo is much like many other stories about rebellion. It starts
with a leader making bad decisions. That real battle starts before the start of the Texas Revolution,
when the Mexican leader President General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, began to shift away from
a federalist style of government, trying to start something akin to ... Show more content on

As the war raged on, many battles were fought, some swift and glorious, and even more long and
gruesome,The icon of these long and horrible battles was of course, The Alamo. The Alamo,
originally called 'Mission San Antonio de Valero ', was originally a Spanish religious outpost that
was converted into a fort by the recently expelled Mexican Army. Sadly, though it was a fort, it was
a sorry excuse of one. It was designed to hold off attacks by native tribes, not an artillery–equipped
army. This design made it incredibly hard to defend for troops from an age where artillery and guns
ruled all, so a Texian engineer named Green Jameson constructed catwalks along the walls to allow
defenders to fire over them. This method, though effective, also came at a cost. The position that the
men had to take along the walls left the riflemens ' upper bodies completely exposed. The garrison
stationed there was horribly undermanned and underprovisioned, with less than 100 men stationed at
the fort by January of 1836. Luckily though, there were a number if cannons left behind by the
Mexican forces, which Jameson installed along the walls. The defenders also had a large 18–
pounder artillery cannon, which Jameson installed in the southwest corner of the fort. These artillery
cannons were a major advantage for the Texian forces, so much so that Jameson boasted to the

History Extended Essay

Introduction April 25,1846 a Mexican Cavalry consisting of 3,000 men ambushed 70 US soldiers
under Zachary Taylor's command at the disputed area between the Nueces River and the Rio
Grande. Mexican troops ended up killing 16 American Citizens. This led President James K. Polk to
write a letter to Congress asking for a Declaration of War against Mexico on May 11, 1846. In his
declaration of war he included the famous quote: "But now, after reiterated menaces, Mexico has
passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon
the American soil. She has proclaimed that hostilities have commenced, and that the two nations are
now at war." Congress approved the Declaration of War after only a few hours of debate, and so on
May 13, 1846 the United States of America declared war on Mexico.
Though it seems like the main reason for the Mexican–American war was the shooting between
American troops and a Mexican cavalry because of the fact that James K. Polk asked Congress for
permission to declare war on Mexico right after the incident and the event was very prevalent in the
letter, another reason for the Mexican American War may have been the popular ideology of
Manifest Destiny. In 1845 John L. O'Sullivan coined the term Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny

The Mexican State Of Coahuila Y Tejas
American settlement in Texas began with the encouragement of first the Spanish, and then Mexican,
governments. In the summer of 1820 Moses Austin, a bankrupt 59–year old Missourian, asked
Spanish authorities for a large Texas land tract which he would promote and sell to American
pioneers.
The request by Austin seemed preposterous. His background was that of a Philadelphia dry goods
merchant, a Virginia mine operator, a Louisiana judge, and a Missouri banker. But early in 1821, the
Spanish government gave him permission to settle 300 families in Texas. Spain welcomed the
Americans for two reasons––to provide a buffer against illegal U.S. settlers, who were creating
problems in east Texas even before the grant was made to Austin, and to help develop the land, since
only 3,500 native Mexicans had settled in Texas which was part of the Mexican state of Coahuila y
Tejas. Texas–or Tejas as the Mexicans called it–had technically been a part of the Spanish empire
since the 17th century. However, even as late as the 1820s, there were only about 3,000 Spanish–
Mexican settlers in Texas, and Mexico City's hold on the territory was tenuous at best. After winning
its own independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico welcomed large numbers of Anglo–American
immigrants into Texas in the hopes they would become loyal Mexican citizens and keep the territory
from falling into the hands of the United States. During the next decade men like Stephen Austin
brought more than 25,000 people to Texas,

Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was born in Jalapa, Veracruz Mexico, on February 21, 1794. He
belongs to a "criollo" middle class family. His parents were from Spain. He was a Mexican
politician and military leader who was President of Mexico eleven times from 1833 to 1855. He was
president officially six times, and unofficially five more. He was also a disastrous president of
Mexico because he lost Texas and much more of the current American west in the United States.
However, by far he was an important figure of his generation in the Mexican history. Many people
love him during his first years of president, and he was remembered for two major conflicts, the
Battle of the Alamo in 1836 during the Texas Revolution, and as a restored Mexican leader during
the Mexican–American War in 1847 (tshaonline.org).
The prestige of Santa Anna in 1829 helped him to gain the presidency in 1833. In 1829 he fought
against Spain's attempt to conquer Mexico, and after his victory everyone looked at him as a good
leader. His victory from Spain makes him immediately turn over power. At that time the vice–
president was Valentín Gómez Farías, and allowed him to make some reforms, including many that
aimed at the Catholic Church and the army. Because the people of Mexico do not accept his
reforms, Santa Anna stepped in and removed Gómez Farías from power, and consequently he gained
the presidency in 1833 as a Federalist and opponent of Roman Catholic Church. He was in power
from 1833 to 1836

The Alamo : A Spanish Mission
The Event:
Background
The Alamo itself was a Spanish Mission, which had a main purpose of converting natives in the area
to Catholicism, the official Spanish religion. The time period in which it was establish along with
several other missions was during the Spanish Mission Period, which lasted from the early to late
18th century. The Alamo's original name was San Antonio de Valero in honor of Saint Anthony de
Padua (Official Alamo Website). It changed locations several times before it finally was moved to its
current location in 1724. It was the first of five Spanish missions in the current San Antonio area and
was home to many Spanish missionaries and Indian converts. However, converting natives was not
it's only purpose. It also served to convert the natives to the Spanish way of life in order to create a
self–sufficient population that could grow and sustain it–self as loyal Spanish subjects to keep other
European powers out of this area. But this strategy did not last for long. Near the end of the 18th
century, the Indian convert population had dwindled because of increased exposure to new diseases
carried by Europeans. By the early 19th century, much of the Eastern half of the North American
continent had become home to the budding American nation. Louisiana, which was located near the
Texas region of Mexico, had just been bought from the French by America as part of the Louisiana
Purchase agreement. The continued threats from French and American residents of

Power Of The Gods In Aristophanes The Birds
In many works of film, literature, and theater that the world has seen, battles against gods are epic
ordeals, perhaps involving colossal armies and mighty (often shirtless) heroes. This was not the
case, however, within Aristophanes' comedic play The Birds, where a relatively small amount of
blood was spilt as Peisthetaerus (Pez for short) and the birds usurped power and authority from the
gods, effectively replacing them. Near the end of the story, Pez meets face to face with a few of the
gods for negotiation. It is only during this time in the story that the newfound state of Ornithopolis is

Their movement's very existence was an affront to the gods and, compounded with how Pez nearly
molested Iris, a reader/audience member could anticipate tension and possible hostility when Pez

disappointed, it says something about a part in a story where you anticipate the drama to come.
Tension was also high at the peak of this conflict of words, when it looked as if the gods might
refuse Pez's demand for the goddess Sovereignty's hand in marriage, which could very well have led

The Mexican American War By Daniel Timi

Mexican War
Daniel Timi His. 201–United States History to 1865 Professor Margiotta
The Mexican American War began on April 25, 1846. This placed the first U.S. armed conflict
chiefly fought on foreign soil. It marked politically dividend and militarily unprepared Mexico
against its expansionists–minded administration of U.S. President James K. Polk. Polk strongly
believed the United States had an evident future to go across the continent in the Pacific Ocean. The
border encountered along the Rio Grande, which began with a fight, followed by a series of
numerous victories the United States. When the dust cleared, Mexico had lost roughly one–third of
its region. The regions included all the states such as Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Utah. At
the end of the U.S. Mexican War, historians have divided into their explanations. Some historians
hold United States accountable while others put the blame on Mexico. The studies of the literature
show majority of writers have taken into consideration that neither country entirely unimpeachable.
Throughout the Mexican War there are several of causes, some which were minor and others of

The Battle Of The Texas Revolution
Our next discussion in American History takes us on the special journey back to the Texas
Revolution. This battle saw a lot of heroes and also coined one of the most famous sayings in the
state of Texas, "Remember the Alamo"! However, before we can get to all the guts and glory we
must first look at the causes that lead to this epic revolution to understand both sides of the coin. I
will look at the background, battles, people and results of the Texas Revolution, as well as give my
opinion of the Mexican government's innocence or blame in this battle.
This story starts back on 10/01/1800, it is this day that the Treaty of San IIdefonso was signed.
When the treaty was signed it returned Louisiana from Spain back to France. Spain ... Show more

This is a point where Mexico only had 3,500 native Mexicans settled in Texas; so in 1821, the
Spanish government granted permission to Austin to settle 300 families in Texas. Austin's luck was
about to turn around for him with this deal. On the other hand, he would not see his vision come to
fruition, as he would perish on a return trip from Mexico City after being robbed. Before his
untimely passing, his son Stephen F. Austin promised his father he would carry out the task and see
it until the end.
The year is now 1824 and a young Stephen F. Austin has attracted 272 colonists to Texas at this
point; in addition to that he was also able to persuade the newly independent Mexican government
to give empresarios (or land agents) 67,000 acres of land for every 200 families brought to Texas.
That's approximately 335 acres a family which is unheard of. Mexico did agree to the term with two
conditions pertaining to land ownership; first the settlers had to become Mexican citizens and
secondly they had to covert to Roman Catholicism. Converting to Roman Catholicism proved to be
a "Puritan Problem", however by 1830 there were 16,000 Americans in Texas. With these numbers
the American formed a 4–to–1 majority in the northern section of Coahuila y Tejas, however overall
Hispanic heritage formed a majority in state as a whole.

Argumentative Essay On Family Guy
Family Guy Created in 1999 by Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy is an adult animated cartoon,
commonly aired on FOX ("Family Guy"). Since its start, 269 episodes have been created; each
teetering on the edge of morality and ethics. It is true that Family Guy is a chat–topping, clever, and
properly thought out cartoon; however, it's easy to discern the creator's common use of inappropriate
topics and remarks. Every episode is a new story into the craziness and chaos of the town. This
cartoon is about a small family living on Spooner Street in a made up town called Quahog in Rhode
Island. The characters include a dimwitted father, a desirable mother, a disgusting son, a daughter

While a police officer was trying to shoot Peter, it missed and hit a child's John F. Kennedy PEZ
dispenser. He smiles, and says "Good thing I still got my Bobby Kennedy PEZ dispenser." Some
people may view this as offensive, because John F Kennedy was a widely liked president who was
assassinated from a shot to the head back in the year 1963 ("John F. Kennedy"). Bobby Kennedy
was JFK's younger brother, was also shot to death five years later ("Robert F. Kennedy"). In another
episode, Peter is on a boat, standing on a stage. He introduces Mr. Bruce Jenner. Bruce Jenner walks
out in shorts carrying a pink feather boa. He starts dancing for a group of sailors, who are awestruck
by the performance. This episode came out in 2011 ("Lottery Fever"), while Bruce did not announce
that he was going to transition to female until 2015 ("Caitlyn Jenner"). Some would say that it pokes
fun at the idea of being "gay" because it is still an arguable topic. Lastly, there's a scene where
Osama Bin Laden is trying to film a video to send to Americans. He has a very serious attitude, and
then starts laughing and grabs a rubber chicken. This is incredibly offensive to most people, because
Bin Laden helped with the planning of 9/11. Family Guy has no restrictions on humor, and will use
any horrible or disgusting event for their show.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has gotten angry at Family Guy numerous times.

American Folk Hero Davy Crockett
"You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas" (www.brainyquote.com). Words spoken by the
famous American folk hero Davy Crockett. Oddly enough Texas would bring about many "Hellish"
debates, and conflicts throughout most of the middle nineteenth century. For Texas the debate about
statehood was at hand, and the country was a split about its status as a slave or free state. While at
the same time the country wanted to avoid an all–out war with Mexico. Events like the Missouri
Compromise and the Mexican Independence from Spain would impact future events leading up to
the independence of Texas in 1836. Leaders like Colonels Gregorio Gomez and William Travis who
viewed Texas as their peoples land, would act on their ambitions to claim Texas for their respective
countries. While back in the states people such as abolitionist Benjamin Lundy and the Charleston
Mercury newspaper would voice their opinions of slavery in Texas. Through these events and
sources the reader can find evidence about the unique challenges the country faced regarding Texas
statehood. To get a better picture of the Texas situation, the reader most glance back in time and
examine some important dates before 1836. In 1820 Congress passed the Missouri Comprise
introducing two new states into the Union; Missouri a slave state, and Maine a free state. Congress
also agreed that the southern border of Missouri (Parallel 36°30) was to serve as the boundary

those areas stricken by persistent poverty. Unbeknownst to many South Carolinians is the persistent
poverty corridor in which certain counties struggle much more than others long I95. Allendale
County stands out even amongst its peers as a county that is struggling to address multigenerational

general within South Carolina.
Persistent Poverty in South Carolina
Poverty within the United States is defined as "having an income below a federally determined
poverty threshold. " Poverty thresholds were developed by the United States government in the 60s
to benchmark levels of subsistence. Over time these thresholds are often adjusted to account for
inflation; it is now typical for the federal government to adjust the poverty threshold levels annually.
Poverty levels represent the government's estimate of the point below which a family has
insufficient resources to meet their basic needs. Any family with less income than the established
poverty amount is officially classified as poor or as living in poverty. Income as defined by the
federal rules can include cash and cash welfare assistance, but excludes any in–kind welfare
assistance. There are restrictions a few other

The Battle Of The Alamo
The battle of the Alamo has been one of the most significant events in not only the Texas
Revolution, but American and Mexican history as well. The battle of the Alamo started in February
of 1836 and ended in March of 1836, lasting less than two weeks' total. The battle was between the
Mexican army and the rebelling Texans. The Mexican army was led by the Mexican President and
General, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, while the rebelling Texans were led by Lt. Colonel William
Travis, Jim Bowie, and David Crockett. The battle of the Alamo happened to be one of the most
pivotal points in the Texas Revolution causing both countries to experience the complete opposite of
the projected outcome, eventually resulting in Texas' independence.
Before the Alamo, the battle was named The Mission San Antonio de Valero, which was established
in the 18th century. The soldiers who were there called the mission El Alamo after the cottonwood
trees surrounding the land. Overtime, the mission was renamed the Alamo. Many of Spanish settlers
built the Mission San Antonio de Valero on the banks of the San Antonio River around 1718. The
Mission San Antonio de Valero happened to house not only missionaries, but their Native American
converts as well. They did this for approximately 70 years until Spanish authorities decided to split
up their land and distribute it to many of the residents. The Alamo was first occupied by Spanish
soldiers. After the Spanish soldiers, Mexican soldiers came to occupy it.

My Angle on Angling Piranhas (sp. Piraña) Anytime you mention the Amazon River it doesn't take

of photographic works depicting the buildings of the Austrian architect, George W.Reinberg. Ms
Hejduk authorised Mr Reinberg to use her photographs in order to illustrate his buildings, in a
conference organised by Energie Agentur, a Germany based company.
Subsequently, Energie Agentur made the photographs used by Mr Reinberg in his illustration

As a result, Ms Hejduk brought up an action before the Handelsgericht in Wien, for damages against
Energie Agentur and for authorisation to publish the judgment at the expense of the defendant. That
Energie Agentur has infringed her copyright for making her photographs publicly available without
her consent and without providing a statement of authorship. Ms Hejduk in justifying the selection
of that jurisdiction relies on Article 7(2) Regulation 1215/2012.
Energie Agentur raised an objection to the issue of jurisdiction, that the Handelsgericht Wien lacked
international and local jurisdiction, claiming that its website is not directed at Austria and that the
mere fact that a website may be accessed from Austria is insufficient to confer jurisdiction on
Austria court. The Handelsgericht Wien decided to stay the proceedings and referred the

Why The Texans Were Victorious At San Jacinto
The field was set, both generals decided upon where they would take their final rest before the
battle. The spring of 1836 in soon to be a free Texas, the weather was warm with a slight breeze on
this day the 21st of April. One army fueled with rage for revenge and the other just searching for
their reasons to keep marching on this far against an inferior army. The Texas revolution may have
begun with the battle of Gonzales, but through sheer determination and resiliency how a ragtag army
were victorious at the battle of San Jacinto. A victory which would shape the history of Mexico,
Texas, United States and the world. To understand why the Texans were victorious at San Jacinto,
you cannot purely just look at the battle itself, but at the tactical genius of what it seems General
Sam Houston had been planning all along. General Houston had known all along that the fight
against the Mexican army at the Alamo would have been futile and though the council wanted to
hold the Alamo at all costs, Houston knew this to be unwise and this is why he sent James Bowie to
destroy the fortifications and retreat back to Gonzales. General Houston knew also that his army was
not to the standard of the Mexican army in ways of drilling and moving in battle formations and he
needed time to train the army and prepare them for battles. General Houston was trying to form an
army from the men that were spread across the lands. The council kept sending men on expeditions

Financial Assets Of A Business Organization
Financial resources constitute one of the types of resources that firms utilize in the production
process. From an economic perspective, they represent the financial assets of a business
organization as they represent the financial funds that it holds (Peng, 2014). Financial resources fall
into three broad categories: business funds that represent cash, cash equivalents, and deposits held
by banks, corporate capital that represent money that a company has invested in its assets and other
financial resources that represent funds that flow from the organization's investments.

The money may be obtained from family, friends, angel investors, or venture capitalists. Businesses
are not obligated to pay back the money as investors hope to get back their investment from future
profits (Barney & Hesterly, 2014). A business that can attract high–profile investors raises its
credibility. Borrowing Capacity Borrowing refers to financing obtained through loans that a
business must pay back over time with interest. Businesses can borrow money on long–term or
short–term basis from government agencies or banks. A company that utilizes debt financing enjoys
a tax advantage as the interest it pays on the loan is tax deductible (Johnson, Scholes, &
Whittington, 2009). Also, borrowing limits future obligations as the lender does not obtain an
ownership share and the repayment runs for a specified period.

Analysis Of John Fitzgerald Kennedy 's ' The Great Gatsby...
In 1957, the first and only United States President won a Pulitzer Prize for biography; it was titled
"Profiles in Courage." This same President would say in a speech given in Frankfurt, West Germany,
"For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the
past, or the present, are certain to miss the future (Kennedy, 1963)." This President was a visionary,
who had creative and innovative foresight, that included the unthinkable at the time, that man would
travel in space and land on the moon. That President was John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Michael, 1995).
Kennedy strongly believed that "no nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect
to stay behind in this race for space" (Kennedy 1962). His aspiration challenged the complacency
and demands of the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) to go beyond its
current performance, to search, create and surprise the American people (Davila, Epstein, & Shelton,
2006 p 257). Kennedy never saw his creative visionary idea become reality, because he was
assassinated in 1963. But, in 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped from Apollo 11 onto the
surface of the moon and spoke these words "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind",
words that still resonate Kennedy's innovative idea and vision to land a man on the moon, and

was no information to be discovered. Thank goodness I heard a couple of guys at the video store
talking about the party they
were going to over the weekend, or I never would have decided on a topic. The thought of partying
college students prompted
me to settle on the topic of binge drinking. As can be imagined, there was a plethora of information
on this topic, so much so
that I had to narrow the focus of my paper and be very selective in choosing my sources.
Upon narrowing my focus to binge drinking on college campuses, I found information regarding
several studies done at
college campuses around the country, and a specific study done at Northern Illinois University.
These sources gave me the
usual percentages of student who binge drink and the effects of binge drinking on the college as a
whole. But the interesting
fact I found was that the actual percentages of binge drinking students are much less than perceived.

Relationship Between Perfectionism And Perfectionism
Relationships between Perfectionism and Eating Disorders Perfectionism plays an important role in
several psychological disorders including eating disorders. There are lots of studies about
perfectionism with Anorexia nervosa. Many authors suggest to study perfectionism from a
multidimensional perspective. Perfectionism is defined as the tendency to set and pursue
unrealistically high standards despite the occurrence of adverse consequences (as cited in Cassin and
von Ranson, 2005). Several authors have identified different components of perfectionism such as
Self–oriented Perfectionism and it is termed by Flett and Hewitt, Other–oriented perfectionism, and
socially prescribed perfectionism. Anorexia nervosa (AN) has a particular relationship to
perfectionism. AN is an eating disorder which people starve themselves even they may die. AN
primarily occurs in women and they are afraid becoming fat.
Perfectionism
According to Pacht (1984) Perfectionism as the setting of excessively high standards for
performance accompanied by overly critical self–evaluations. Perfectionism can precede, maintain
or be an effect of AN and sometimes persist after recovery (as cited in Cassin and von Ranson,
2005; Lilienfeld, Wonderlich, Riso, Crosby, and Mitchell, 2006). Perfectionism has been ... Show

  • 1. Social, Political, And Economical Cause Of The Mexican... Social, Political, and Economical Causes of the Mexican Revolution There were an abundance of social, political, and economical factors that led to the Mexican Revolution. Socially, there was a great displacement in the treatment between the elite and rich classes and the poor classes. Politically, what once started out as a Republic, after they had won their independence, had transitioned into a tyrannical dictatorship. Economically, Mexico was over dependent on loans from foreign nations such as France, Spain, England, and The United State of America. AFTERMATH OF WAR OF INDEPENDENCE Mexico had gained its independence from Spain in the year of 1821, although a substantial amount of damage had been inflicted as Mexico was in disorder and decay. The economy was in shambles, as Mexico owed money to The United States of America, France, and England. Also, the social classes experienced a drop–off in upper class citizens as every Spaniard was forced out of Mexico after the war for independence. Economically, many industries such as mining, textile, and others became useless, as there was lack of production, because of the absence of the Spaniards. The effects of war were very visible throughout all of Mexico as villages were left ruined, roads were neglected, and about 15–30 percent of the male populations were unemployed. ... • 3. Holocaust The Museum Experience One of my favorite things to do when traveling in a new city is to visit the museums. I have never been to a city that did not offer the usual museum fare, usually in the form of the "Anytown Art Museum", or the "Anytown Museum of Natural History". While these types of museums house some incredible artifacts, and I do visit them often, I also like to seek out museums of a more unusual sort. Museums are mostly the same just about everywhere you go, both in the United States and Europe. They offer the visitor a glimpse into the past culture of any given city or country by displaying relics found throughout the world. But there are also many museums that showcase artifacts of the culture in a much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most profound image I took away from the Barbie collection was the development and various uses of plastics from those early years to today. Toy museums are popular for two reasons, they show an aspect of a culture that an art or history museum may not address, but more importantly, they take the visitor back to their own childhood when they see the toys that they played with when they were young, and awaken the imagination again in ways not known for years. Another popular topic for museums in Europe is the torture museum. The Dungeon, in Prague is the only one I have visited, but there are several others as well in Germany and France. In fact, there is a website devoted to torture museums in Europe. Torture was a common practice in Medieval Europe both for punishment and gathering information, and I suppose the fascination lives on. The Dungeon displays some interesting instruments used in the Middle Ages. They run the gamut from the traditional thumbscrew, to various brands that were used to signify the type of crime committed, to some very painful looking stretching racks, ankle screws, and hanging devices. One interesting device, called the "Crown of Thorns" is an iron ring with several nails woven into it. This ring is placed on the prisoner and pounded down around his skull until the ... (A) Gary Bengier, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations at eBay, clicked on the send button as he emailed the week's financial update to Pierre Omidyar, the company's 31–year old chairman. It was September 15, 1998 and Wall Street was still reeling from a summer of severe market volatility. Much of the market's instability could be traced to bearish worries over a deepening and continuing economic crisis in Asia and other developing markets. Many investors feared that the U.S. economy would be unable to resist what was termed the "Asian Flu," and that economic recession was eminent. Although U.S. interest rates were still low at yields of 4.0 percent for Treasury Bills and 5.6 percent for 30–year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Omidyar added several clever ideas to eBay's web service to stimulate interest. First, he adopted an auction–like trading format to not only create a sense of urgency, but also allow buyers to follow the bidding status for each item. Secondly, he provided sellers with opportunities to "spice up" their auction pages. Sellers were encouraged to upload pictures of their items or add music. Thirdly, Omidyar created the eBay Community, composed of registered traders sharing in common interests and passions for collectible and tradable goods. eBay listed all participants' email addresses and provided chat rooms, such as the eBay cafe, where eBay community members could talk about sale items, hobbies, or other non–trading related topics. Finally, eBay allowed users to discuss the relative quality of items, sellers, and buyers in the eBay community by providing a "Feedback Forum" for community members to interact. eBay's first auction occurred on Labor Day 1995. Three years later, with over one thousand categories listed and 70,000 new sale items added daily, eBay had become the largest and most popular person–to–person trading community on the Internet. The goods traded on eBay's web site included: antiques, sports memorabilia, books, toys, cars, computers, dolls, coins, jewelry, electronics, photography, and music. The company neither received goods nor payments for goods, but simply provided an arena for buyers and sellers to interact. To generate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Battle Of The Alamo The Battle of the Alamo is probably the most famous battle to take place in the history of, and in the state of, Texas. The battle has given Texans the will to persevere against tough odds and the courage to endure through seemingly impossible situations for many generations. Many a Texan would draw inspiration during the fights following the defeat at the Alamo. This inspiration eventually led them to victory during the Texas Revolution following the Battle of San Jacinto. Had the Texas military correctly utilized their intelligence and combat assets available to them at the time, they would have been able to properly reinforce the Alamo. This would have allowed Texan leadership to develop an effective strategy to defeat the Mexican army ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Santa Anna was elected President of Mexico in 1833. In 1834 he repealed the constitution and established himself as a dictator, which played a major factor in the Texas Revolution. With the constitution repealed, the Texians did not have the same benefits as they did when they first settled in Mexico. Under the oppressive rule of Santa Anna, the Texians began to rebel (Callcott, 2010). The Battle of Gonzales The apprehension between the Texians and Mexicans began to shift towards a war when a Mexican force led by Francisco De Castañeda was instructed to take a cannon from the rebels in the city of Gonzales. Castañeda was instructed to try to retrieve the cannon without force in order to prevent it from being used against the Mexican authorities and because the slightest act of aggression would likely push the Texians over the edge. The Texians, led by John Henry Moore, refused to cooperate. They even attempted to negotiate with Castañeda and his force to convince them to side with the Texas cause, as they shared the same principles in regards to Santa Anna's dictatorship. After Castañeda refused, because as a soldier, he was obligated to follow orders, a minor battle ensued. Although it was almost insignificant, it gave the Texians a spark and the rebel cause was able to increase recruiting efforts for the larger altercations that would occur in the next few months (Hardin, 2010). ... • 11. The Battle Of The Alamo Introduction Few battles have had such an affect on the American experience as the battle of the Alamo. This battle is the subject of heroism, sacrifice, and valor. Would American history be the same if this historical battle had never taken place? What would the implications be if the defenders of the Alamo never sacrificed themselves for Texas independence? Although poor decisions and misuse of available intelligence directly contributed to the devastating loss, the defeat at the Alamo was the catalyst for the future success of the Texas Revolution. The defenders of the Alamo achieved their goal of an independent Texas through their sacrifice. In this paper, I will examine the Alamo by using the four–steps of battle analysis and discuss the implications of an alternate outcome for the battle of the Alamo. Discussion Definition of the Battle The Battle of the Alamo took place in San Antonio de Béxar in a former mission originally named San Antonio de Valero in 1744. In 1803, Spanish soldiers stationed at the mission renamed it the Pueblo de la Compañia del Alamo after their hometown. The primary adversaries of the battle were the centralist Mexican military led by Antonio López de Santa Anna and the Texas revolutionaries led by William Barret Travis and James Bowie. The battle took place over the course of thirteen days and ended on March 6, 1836 with Santa Anna victorious (Tinkle, 1958). • 13. Lsd Research Paper LSD: Is it Still Medically Viable? Introduction: The psychedelic drug LSD, short for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, was a drug used for the treatment of mental disorders and alcoholism in the 1950s. After a twenty–year reign, its use stopped why psychiatrist were prescribing the drug like Pez Dispensers. Unknowingly these doctors were overdosing their patients. The question is, if prescribed correctly, could LSD still be a useful medicine, or do the risks outweigh the benefits. Doctors and loved ones of alcoholics might greatly benefit. We do not need to rule out any medication that does not have these side–effects. • 15. Strategic Alignment As The Internal Consistency Of The... Kaplan and Norton (2006) define strategic alignment as the internal consistency of the activ– ities that implement the different attributes of strategy. Environmental sustainability drives firms to not only develop corporate environmental proactively but also to move toward green/sustainable supply chain management (Aragon–Correa and Rubio–Lo´ pez, 2007; Seuring and M¨ uller, 2008). Monczka and Petersen (2012) suggest that environmentally sustainable supply chain management is an integrated strategy which must align closely with and support business strategy in response to a changing marketplace. When alignment is lacking, Monczka and Petersen (2012) mention that supply management cannot sup– port the business in response to socioeconomic pressures. Thus, firms must align their SC and CE strategies in order to boost the overall firm performance. So it is very important for firms to understand their strategies, and the co–relationship between corporate strategy and the supply chain strategy, what sort of resource and capabilities and how to develop the capabilities to help achieving the strategy, and what are the effects of the strategies to both sides, and what is the influence means to the alignment of these two strategies? • 17. The Battle Of The Alamo Abstract The Battle of the Alamo was more than the name simply implies. It was more than a battle between two opposing forces during the Texas Revolution. It was a battle of competing political issues between the Mexican government and the interests of the United States of America. It is difficult to truly understand the significance of the Battle of the Alamo without describing the events that occurred before. Before the actual Battle of the Alamo, the Mexican Army conducted a 13 day siege. The prelude of the Battle of the Alamo will help those unfamiliar with this pivotal event understand how everything culminated in the 13 day siege and eventual victory for the Mexican forces. The Alamo The building in San Antonio we call the Alamo, originally was built as the chapel of the Mission San Antonio de Valero. It was built in 1724 outside of San Antonio de Bexar, which is modern day San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this mission was to help convert Mexican– Indians to Catholicism. During this time, Mexico was still a colony of Spain. In 1794, construction was halted, rendering the compound incomplete. The compound later adopted a new name when a group of Spanish Soldiers began using the compound. The Soldiers hailed from a Mexican town called Alamo de Parras. The mission was then called The Alamo (Ramos, 1992) . To assume Sam Houston was a one trick pony, or only skilled in one aspect merely because of his heritage and place of birth would be an understatement, as his father was a major . Unbeknownst to many South Carolinians is the persistent poverty corridor in which certain counties struggle much more than others along Interstate 95. Allendale County stands out even amongst its peers as a county that is struggling to address multigenerational poverty. This paper deals with Allendale County poverty beginning by offering insight into poverty issues within South Carolina, followed by a SWOT analysis, a finagling offering a few possible solutions. Persistent Poverty in South Carolina Poverty within the United States is defined as "having an income below a federally determined poverty threshold. " Poverty thresholds were developed by the United States government in the 1960s to benchmark levels of subsistence. Over time these thresholds are often adjusted to account for inflation; it is now typical for the federal government to adjust the poverty threshold levels annually. Poverty levels represent the government's estimate of the point below which a family has insufficient resources to meet their basic needs. Any family with less income than the established poverty amount is officially classified as poor or as living in poverty. • 28. The Battle Of The Alamo After the United States won its freedom from Britain, there was another revolution occurring in the west, the Texas Revolution. Like the United States, Texas wanted its independence from Mexico, but was not going to transpire without a fight. "Remember the Alamo," (1836) was a quote used by Texians following the Battle of the Alamo to inspire soldiers as they led their attack on the Mexican army at the Battle of San Jacinto. The Battle of the Alamo was a turning point during the Texas Revolution and forever will be remembered as so in Texas' and the United States history (New World Encyclopedia). The Alamo, which means "cottonwood", was initially built by the Spaniards for accommodating native religious services in 1724 and up until 1783 ("The Alamo," n.d.). When Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1810, it was transformed into a cavalry unit that was operated by Mexico. As time went on, colonists from the east were getting word of the vast amount of inexpensive lands available in Mexico's northern territory called Texas. Mexicans were not pleased with the land hungry settlers occupying their lands and Texians were not pleased with Mexico's over controlling government. The story leading up to the Battle of the Alamo is much like many other stories about rebellion. It starts with a leader making bad decisions. As the war raged on, many battles were fought, some swift and glorious, and even more long and gruesome,The icon of these long and horrible battles was of course, The Alamo. The Alamo, originally called 'Mission San Antonio de Valero ', was originally a Spanish religious outpost that was converted into a fort by the recently expelled Mexican Army. Sadly, though it was a fort, it was a sorry excuse of one. It was designed to hold off attacks by native tribes, not an artillery–equipped army. This design made it incredibly hard to defend for troops from an age where artillery and guns ruled all, so a Texian engineer named Green Jameson constructed catwalks along the walls to allow defenders to fire over them. This method, though effective, also came at a cost. The position that the men had to take along the walls left the riflemens ' upper bodies completely exposed. The garrison stationed there was horribly undermanned and underprovisioned, with less than 100 men stationed at the fort by January of 1836. Luckily though, there were a number if cannons left behind by the Mexican forces, which Jameson installed along the walls. The defenders also had a large 18– pounder artillery cannon, which Jameson installed in the southwest corner of the fort. These artillery cannons were a major advantage for the Texian forces, so much so that Jameson boasted to the Texian Army commander ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. What Did The Battle At The Rio Grande Cause The Mexican... TO WHAT EXTENT DID THE BATTLE AT THE RIO GRANDE CAUSE THE MEXICAN AMERICAN WAR? Leila Elhail History Extended Essay 12 Introduction April 25,1846 a Mexican Cavalry consisting of 3,000 men ambushed 70 US soldiers under Zachary Taylor's command at the disputed area between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande. Mexican troops ended up killing 16 American Citizens. This led President James K. Polk to write a letter to Congress asking for a Declaration of War against Mexico on May 11, 1846. In his declaration of war he included the famous quote: "But now, after reiterated menaces, Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon the American soil. She has proclaimed that hostilities have commenced, and that the two nations are now at war." Congress approved the Declaration of War after only a few hours of debate, and so on May 13, 1846 the United States of America declared war on Mexico. Though it seems like the main reason for the Mexican–American war was the shooting between American troops and a Mexican cavalry because of the fact that James K. Polk asked Congress for permission to declare war on Mexico right after the incident and the event was very prevalent in the letter, another reason for the Mexican American War may have been the popular ideology of Manifest Destiny. In 1845 John L. O'Sullivan coined the term Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny was the ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Mexican State Of Coahuila Y Tejas American settlement in Texas began with the encouragement of first the Spanish, and then Mexican, governments. In the summer of 1820 Moses Austin, a bankrupt 59–year old Missourian, asked Spanish authorities for a large Texas land tract which he would promote and sell to American pioneers. The request by Austin seemed preposterous. His background was that of a Philadelphia dry goods merchant, a Virginia mine operator, a Louisiana judge, and a Missouri banker. But early in 1821, the Spanish government gave him permission to settle 300 families in Texas. Spain welcomed the Americans for two reasons––to provide a buffer against illegal U.S. settlers, who were creating problems in east Texas even before the grant was made to Austin, and to help develop the land, since only 3,500 native Mexicans had settled in Texas which was part of the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas. Texas–or Tejas as the Mexicans called it–had technically been a part of the Spanish empire since the 17th century. However, even as late as the 1820s, there were only about 3,000 Spanish– Mexican settlers in Texas, and Mexico City's hold on the territory was tenuous at best. After winning its own independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico welcomed large numbers of Anglo–American immigrants into Texas in the hopes they would become loyal Mexican citizens and keep the territory from falling into the hands of the United States. • 36. Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was born in Jalapa, Veracruz Mexico, on February 21, 1794. He belongs to a "criollo" middle class family. His parents were from Spain. He was a Mexican politician and military leader who was President of Mexico eleven times from 1833 to 1855. He was president officially six times, and unofficially five more. He was also a disastrous president of Mexico because he lost Texas and much more of the current American west in the United States. However, by far he was an important figure of his generation in the Mexican history. Many people love him during his first years of president, and he was remembered for two major conflicts, the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 during the Texas Revolution, and as a restored Mexican leader during the Mexican–American War in 1847 (tshaonline.org). The prestige of Santa Anna in 1829 helped him to gain the presidency in 1833. In 1829 he fought against Spain's attempt to conquer Mexico, and after his victory everyone looked at him as a good leader. His victory from Spain makes him immediately turn over power. At that time the vice– president was Valentín Gómez Farías, and allowed him to make some reforms, including many that aimed at the Catholic Church and the army. Because the people of Mexico do not accept his reforms, Santa Anna stepped in and removed Gómez Farías from power, and consequently he gained the presidency in 1833 as a Federalist and opponent of Roman Catholic Church. The Alamo : A Spanish Mission The Event: Background The Alamo itself was a Spanish Mission, which had a main purpose of converting natives in the area to Catholicism, the official Spanish religion. The time period in which it was establish along with several other missions was during the Spanish Mission Period, which lasted from the early to late 18th century. The Alamo's original name was San Antonio de Valero in honor of Saint Anthony de Padua (Official Alamo Website). It changed locations several times before it finally was moved to its current location in 1724. It was the first of five Spanish missions in the current San Antonio area and was home to many Spanish missionaries and Indian converts. However, converting natives was not it's only purpose. It also served to convert the natives to the Spanish way of life in order to create a self–sufficient population that could grow and sustain it–self as loyal Spanish subjects to keep other European powers out of this area. But this strategy did not last for long. Near the end of the 18th century, the Indian convert population had dwindled because of increased exposure to new diseases carried by Europeans. By the early 19th century, much of the Eastern half of the North American continent had become home to the budding American nation. This was not the case, however, within Aristophanes' comedic play The Birds, where a relatively small amount of blood was spilt as Peisthetaerus (Pez for short) and the birds usurped power and authority from the gods, effectively replacing them. Near the end of the story, Pez meets face to face with a few of the gods for negotiation. Oddly enough Texas would bring about many "Hellish" debates, and conflicts throughout most of the middle nineteenth century. For Texas the debate about statehood was at hand, and the country was a split about its status as a slave or free state. While at the same time the country wanted to avoid an all–out war with Mexico. Events like the Missouri Compromise and the Mexican Independence from Spain would impact future events leading up to the independence of Texas in 1836. Leaders like Colonels Gregorio Gomez and William Travis who viewed Texas as their peoples land, would act on their ambitions to claim Texas for their respective countries. While back in the states people such as abolitionist Benjamin Lundy and the Charleston Mercury newspaper would voice their opinions of slavery in Texas. Through these events and sources the reader can find evidence about the unique challenges the country faced regarding Texas statehood. To get a better picture of the Texas situation, the reader most glance back in time and examine some important dates before 1836. The issue is particularly acute if you are a citizen living in poverty, but the issue is of critical importance to those citizens that must support those areas stricken by persistent poverty. Unbeknownst to many South Carolinians is the persistent poverty corridor in which certain counties struggle much more than others long I95. Allendale County stands out even amongst its peers as a county that is struggling to address multigenerational poverty. This paper deals with Allendale County poverty after offering insight into poverty in general within South Carolina. Persistent Poverty in South Carolina Poverty within the United States is defined as "having an income below a federally determined poverty threshold. " Poverty thresholds were developed by the United States government in the 60s to benchmark levels of subsistence. Income as defined by the federal rules can include cash and cash welfare assistance, but excludes any in–kind welfare assistance. There are restrictions a few other ... • 56. The Battle Of The Alamo The battle of the Alamo has been one of the most significant events in not only the Texas Revolution, but American and Mexican history as well. The battle of the Alamo started in February of 1836 and ended in March of 1836, lasting less than two weeks' total. The battle was between the Mexican army and the rebelling Texans. The Mexican army was led by the Mexican President and General, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, while the rebelling Texans were led by Lt. Colonel William Travis, Jim Bowie, and David Crockett. The battle of the Alamo happened to be one of the most pivotal points in the Texas Revolution causing both countries to experience the complete opposite of the projected outcome, eventually resulting in Texas' independence. Before the Alamo, the battle was named The Mission San Antonio de Valero, which was established in the 18th century. The soldiers who were there called the mission El Alamo after the cottonwood trees surrounding the land. Overtime, the mission was renamed the Alamo. Many of Spanish settlers built the Mission San Antonio de Valero on the banks of the San Antonio River around 1718. The Mission San Antonio de Valero happened to house not only missionaries, but their Native American converts as well. They did this for approximately 70 years until Spanish authorities decided to split up their land and distribute it to many of the residents. The Alamo was first occupied by Spanish soldiers. After the Spanish soldiers, Mexican soldiers came to occupy it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 58. Piraranhas Research Paper My Angle on Angling Piranhas (sp. Piraña) Anytime you mention the Amazon River it doesn't take long before someone brings up Piranhas. For the most part, these toothy little buggers have gotten a bad rap from movies and other media venues. Piranhas rarely attack nor do they specifically seek out humans. In doing research for this trip I ran across the adage "Piranhas do not eat people, people eat piranha." People seem to overlook the idea that the people of the Amazon have bathed in Piranha infested water for thousands of years. A good example of this is Jeremy Wade's demonstration of swimming with Piranhas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWmfYDkayMY Piranhas are very easy to catch so I'm challenging myself to catch three different species: Red Bellied Piranhas (the most common), Black Piranhas, and Pacu. These three are in order per weight as well. The Reds weigh around a pound, the Blacks can get up to 5, and Pacu are the big boys! They can get very heavy at 50lb. The spring of 1836 in soon to be a free Texas, the weather was warm with a slight breeze on this day the 21st of April. One army fueled with rage for revenge and the other just searching for their reasons to keep marching on this far against an inferior army. The Texas revolution may have begun with the battle of Gonzales, but through sheer determination and resiliency how a ragtag army were victorious at the battle of San Jacinto. A victory which would shape the history of Mexico, Texas, United States and the world. To understand why the Texans were victorious at San Jacinto, you cannot purely just look at the battle itself, but at the tactical genius of what it seems General Sam Houston had been planning all along. General Houston had known all along that the fight against the Mexican army at the Alamo would have been futile and though the council wanted to hold the Alamo at all costs, Houston knew this to be unwise and this is why he sent James Bowie to destroy the fortifications and retreat back to Gonzales. General Houston knew also that his army was not to the standard of the Mexican army in ways of drilling and moving in battle formations and he needed time to train the army and prepare them for battles. General Houston was trying to form an army from the men that were spread across the lands. The council kept sending men on expeditions with groups of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alike all of the spanish missions it was both a, religious and industrial trade school for indians. For years it had a couple of huts and a small stone tower until, it was destroyed by a storm in 1724. Soon the first stone church was constructed in 1744 and then collapsed in 1756. This same President would say in a speech given in Frankfurt, West Germany, "For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past, or the present, are certain to miss the future (Kennedy, 1963)." This President was a visionary, who had creative and innovative foresight, that included the unthinkable at the time, that man would travel in space and land on the moon. That President was John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Michael, 1995). Kennedy strongly believed that "no nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in this race for space" (Kennedy 1962). His aspiration challenged the complacency and demands of the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) to go beyond its current performance, to search, create and surprise the American people (Davila, Epstein, & Shelton, 2006 p 257). Kennedy never saw his creative visionary idea become reality, because he was assassinated in 1963. But, in 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped from Apollo 11 onto the surface of the moon and spoke these words "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind", words that still resonate Kennedy's innovative idea and vision to land a man on the moon, and Armstrong words still causes American's to beam with "USA" pride (Jones, 1995). Relationship Between Perfectionism And Perfectionism Relationships between Perfectionism and Eating Disorders Perfectionism plays an important role in several psychological disorders including eating disorders. There are lots of studies about perfectionism with Anorexia nervosa. Many authors suggest to study perfectionism from a multidimensional perspective. Perfectionism is defined as the tendency to set and pursue unrealistically high standards despite the occurrence of adverse consequences (as cited in Cassin and von Ranson, 2005). Several authors have identified different components of perfectionism such as Self–oriented Perfectionism and it is termed by Flett and Hewitt, Other–oriented perfectionism, and socially prescribed perfectionism.
