1. Impact On The Military Force Essay
What is the Impact on the Force? For those examples above, Soldiers are reluctant to report crime
and misconduct because unlike civilian victims, military members must rely upon internal military
channels with at times no clear guidance and no right to an independent investigating officer. Even if
the victim prevails in a case such as sexual harassment, the remedies available to him/her are
limited. The victim receives limited or no compensation has no right to the written statement of
findings, is not guaranteed that the complaint will be substantiated. The commander has a great
discretion as to what actions to take against the alleged offender. The victim may also fear reprisals
for reporting a concern since many times the protection against retaliations is ineffective; her
supervisors and peers may regard the victim as a trouble maker instead of a team player. For those
reasons and not being well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, members of congress and the American people are continuously given the
impression that commanders make unethical decisions in by deciding whether to prosecute or to
overturn a conviction. The recommendation to fix the root cause would to overhaul the Uniform
Code of Military Justice. Commanders should retain jurisdiction over crimes that impact good order
and discipline such as misdemeanor crimes where the service member can be rehabilitated such as
disrespect, late for formation or petty theft and be advised by SJAs in the command. We also need to
ensure that commanders do not become impartial when it comes to reprimanding the alleged
offender. Felony crimes such as sexual assault, child pornography, murder, etc. – would be turned
over to the proper authorities outside the chain of command and confined in a military prison should
be prosecuted by trial lawyers as in the case of sexual assaults are

Droplets of cold sweat trickled down the boy's forehead, his legs felt as if thousands of pounds were

the information out of them. Allow me to explain what we know. As it turns out, they were after
money. They had this operation planned out months in advance, secretly infiltrating the school

one that would have leveled the facility all the way up to the parking lot. The bombers did not
invade in person. Instead, they initially set up communication systems so they could project their
voices on the school loud speakers from a distance. It was then on that day that the culprits made the
random announcement that the school's actions were under their demand, and then they immediately
detonated one of the light weight bombs as an example. It turns out that their target was extremely

5. Utilitarianism: The Use Of Military Force
When are the circumstances under which it is or is not legitimate to use military force against
another group or country?
In this time of age the use of military force is a massive debate. With how long we were in Iraq and
Afghanistan to the rise of Terrorism, like such groups as ISIS. People have continued to oppose the
use of our military forces in different countries and at the same time we force our own problem.
There is a lot of discussion before it even reaches the point to discuss even if we should go to war.
We just don't jump in at every battle that happens, we have to look at all angles. Like if we jump and
stop this will our alliances grow stronger with the country we are helping or will this stop it for
reaching our shores. It could also have the total opposite effect, like will it cause us to have more
enemies if we intervene in a religious war (for example Israel). People are too quick to judge to
notice all the different outcomes that could happen if we don't go to war or if we do go to war. This
proves that different circumstances could come about to push us to decide the use of military use
against someone else. Now we need to know if we can decide at what point is the right time or right
circumstance to make that decision.

The Authorization for Use of Military Force against Iraq Resolution was enacted in 2002 after being
signed by the President in October, 2002 at a time when the congress was significantly influenced
by the terror attacks carried out by the Al–Qaeda group which was funded by Iraq. The President
George W. Bush initiated the resolution through a declaration to the General Assembly of the United
Nations that it was adopting a resolution in protection of its national security with or without support
of the Security Council. The resolution which had limited time from its initiation and enactment was
greatly influenced by the political campaign of the presidential elections in which George W. Bush

The United States of America was also threatened through hostility demonstrated by the 1993
assassination attempt on George H.W Bush and firing of the coalition aircraft after the 1991 Gulf
war. The State of Iraq continued to aid other international terrorist organizations, which were
especially the anti–United States. The resolution was therefore adopted to prevent such acts by Iraq.
The Authorization for Use of Military Force against Iraq Resolution was also supported by other
states in its adoption as they wanted Saddam Hussein (the president of Iraq at the time) to be
removed from power. The other states which adopted the resolution included Turkey, Kuwait and
Saudi Arabia.
The legislation was also adopted as required by the Constitution and the Congress for the president
to fight terrorism against the United States. This was also emphasized by the Iraq Liberation Act of
1998 which stated that it should be part of the United States' policy to remove the Saddam Hussein
regime and promote a democratic type of governance (Weisburd, 2004). The United States also
believed that the Al–Qaeda organization was responsible for terrorist attacks such as 9/11 and
therefore need to protect its citizens from such attacks in the future. Furthermore, the United States
desired to have the country's national security reinstated (Weisburd, 2004). The United Nations

Military Force Justified
The use of military force can be justified on any act of military use towards defense, threats, and to
keep world peace. Which has happened in the past years and will happen later in the future. For
example the Cold War, Vietnam, and Iraq these are, where our government used military force and
justified it. These example show that military force can be justified during an act against our
country, endangering world peace and terrorist attacks against our country. As well as any act of
attack against us. Therefor military force can be justified in times of threats, defense, and most to
keep world peace.

masterful employments of military theory as described by Sun Tzu, Carl Von Clausewitz and others.

Defensively, Milosevic knew that there was really no appetite within NATO, for a prolonged
bombing campaign. The US had made it known that a bombing campaign would not last more than
a few days, and believed a few days would be enough for Milosevic to concede. Additionally, he had
received information from France and others in NATO that the target list would be narrow. This
information prompted him to be more cavalier in his approach. Rather than giving up without a fight
and getting nothing for his troubles, he understood that he would be bombed, but he also knew that
he only had to outlast the first few days until NATO realized bombing would not accomplish its
objectives. He went so far as to make it known that he would not capitulate, and he could, and
would, withstand a few days of bombing. From an offensive perspective, he knew the use of mass
expulsions of refugees into neighboring European countries had far greater influence than military
action, and would most–likely be more effective in achieving his objectives. Polls taken in the years

The assumed solution to today's many problems, especially between countries, is war. Killing,
genocide, torture, violence and suffering will not solve anything rather just bring fear and
vengeance. I personally think calling in the national guards to contain the rioters in various
situations isn't always the best solution to the problem because rioters want their voice to be heard
through, all they want is to negotiate they don't always intend for violence. If the local police cannot
handle the situation then military force should be called in the absolute worse situation when
citizens lives are at risk. Military force shouldn't be called in for riots or protests. It only aggravates
the rioters and protestors. Not solving the situation. It's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The important question, however, is when it's justified. What is military force exactly? It's when a
country's military, also known as its armed forces, have no other choice but to use deadly force and
weapons to support the interest of the state and of it's citizens. This means casing fire on the enemy,
dropping bombs from planes, detonating nuclear warheads, even restoring biological warfare. It's
something many countries of the world have means and desires to do even some of the minor less
economically developed countries. So when is military forced justified? Some say military force is
justified when there is an impending threat to one's borders. Which to a point is understandable, If
the situation can not be solved through negotiations then depending on the situation military force
should be used as justifiable. IF a country is on the verge of being invaded, it's military should have

This theory does not look at the consequences of our acts (as in utilitarianism, or consequentialism)

who think that the United States military need to focus on their own problems in America rather
than trying to concern themselves with global conflicts. During the progressive era the United States

those who didn't. The United States were preaching their doctrine, democracy and freedom to all the

31. The Military Force of Thailand
As far as we are concerned, unlike other Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and others,
Thailand military forces portrayed a significant concern pertaining to internal turbulence within
Thailand. (Simon, 2000, p. 13) This is because, for several decades, since communist aggression and
until todays, internal security has become the main core focus of Thailand military forces in the
aspects of defence and security of Thailand (Taylor, 2013, p. 12); compared to other aspects such as
external defence. Before discussing or deliberating the roles of Thailand military forces in internal
security, it is better for us to understand the definition of internal security because it might raise
confusion as it both aspects are associated closely with the national interest of a country. As coined
by the Democratic Republic of Timor–Leste National Parliament (2003), internal security is defined
as an activity or program advanced by the State (Government) with the aims to guarantee order,
security and public peacefulness, to safeguards people and goods, to prevent law–breaking and
contribute to guarantee the normal functioning of the democratic institutions. Through this clear
definition, it is clear that external security and internal security are different with each other. In
Thailand, the military undertook a crucial role of internal security pertaining to the Burmese

There is the argument however, that the tensions between Asian countries exist for other reasons,

China Sea (known as the East Sea in Vietnam, and the West Sea in the Philippines) is contested,
predictability, by China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other Asian countries. Most of the debate

The Authorization for Use of Military Force was a quick band aid reaction to the attack on
September 11th. It's vague definitions of threats and allowance of any use of force deemed
necessary has helped continue what seems like a never ending war. With such a devastating attack
on our nation, of course there was emotional turmoil, but that should not have influenced such rash
decisions to start a war. I agree with Johnsen that the AUMF is the "most dangerous" sentence in
U.S history. As Johnsen mentions, this decision, like many others was "based on fear rather than
foresight" (12). Over a decade after the authorization was passed, it still has been used to justify

Sexual Abuse is known to occur among any relationship, race, sex, and gender, including male

impossible to seek justice. In the military forces, rape is the main issue among the soldiers and the

unjustified rape. Participating in sexual assaults are led due to external theories of gender
construction, such as the Social–Learning Theory, supporting the influence of patriarchy (Barbara F.

obstacles towards the justice for women. Rape plays a role as an underdog in the military forces for

reason for the created obstacles towards the justice of women and rape in the military, it is ignored
that society's standards and gender markers among what men and women are and how they act, is

41. Edward Luttwak 's Analysis On Military Force, Military...
Edward Luttwak's analysis of Roman strategy evaluates the link between military force, military
power, policy, and deterrence. Luttwak describes force as the actual application of a state's military
capability while power is derived from the state's perceived ability to impose force. The Romans
employed a combination of force and power to achieve their policy aims regarding security.
Deterrence provides security by relying on power and the threat of force to prevent an adversary
from committing an unwanted act. Today, United States policy leverages the nation's perceived
power, bolstered by its potential to employ force, in order to deter aggression by potential
adversaries and enhance security. To begin, it is important to explore Luttwak's definitions of force
and power. He describes the use of military force as a finite ability to directly apply military means
in order to force an adversary's compliance. A state's ability to use force is thus limited by the size of
its military capability and its ability to concentrate that capability against an enemy. More
importantly, once military forces are committed to an action they are no longer available to pursue
other objectives and are essentially consumed. The implication is that reliance on military force
limits a state's ability to achieve its objectives to the amount of force it can employ at a given time
and place. Examples of the finite nature of military force are numerous. Luttwak points to

Dr. John Becker
Comprehending the underlying authority for the President of the United States to authorize the
international use of military operations in order to respond to an attack or as a counter–terrorism
strategy, may be difficult to fathom for those who are not familiar with practices and philosophies
associated in this realm. Conducting military operations against the Taliban government in
Afghanistan, detaining suspected terrorists, both indefinitely domestically and abroad, and the use of
unmanned drones to disrupt and destroy suspected terrorists and those aiding them in areas such as
Pakistan fall under the umbrella of what the US has been able to accomplish in our last 12 years
during the Global War on Terror. Under the provisions within the September 18th, 2001 "
Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), the United States was able to grant the: "... [the
ability to] authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent
attacks launched against the United States..."
Other expansions of power include:
"...the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations,

What They Do
The members of the U.S Military service maintain protecting the U.S national defense. Some
members work in occupations such as a fighter pilot or infantryman. While others prefer to work in
the civilian workplaces to be doctors, nurses, or lawyers. Members of the military serve in the Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. Also, they could be in the components of the
reserved forces, such as Air National Guard or Army National Guard. The Military discriminates
between enlisted and officer careers. Enlisted personnel make up about 82 percent of the Armed
Forces and carry out military operations. The remaining 18 percent are officers. Officers are military

Basic pay is based on rank and time in service. The pay in the Military is the same in all branches.
Members of the Armed Forces may receive additional pay based on their job assignment or

I. INTRODUCTION
Background The role of logistics in United States Air Force (USAF) operations and by extension
United States military operations cannot be underestimated nor undervalued. People of both
professional and academic backgrounds have spent considerable time studying and capturing the
relevant points of its application. While critical to almost all military units and corporations alike,
logistics in definition and application is not easily defined. It is an over–arching word covering
many disparate topics such as supply, sustainment, production, transportation, warehousing,
maintenance, planning, and others.
The USAF implements logistics at the tactical, operational and strategic levels with the Air Force
Materiel Command (AFMC) being its largest logistics focused organization. AFMC is home to
strategic organizations such as the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) and the Air Force Life
Cycle Management Center. Organizations such as the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing
(SCOW), logistics readiness squadrons and aerial port squadrons implement logistics at the USAF
operational and tactical level. AFMC and the agencies it commands are the USAF's primary
interfaces for both internal and external logistics support; it interfaces with suppliers such as the
Defense Logistics Agency and General Services Administration and vendors like Boeing,
Lockheed–Martin, and Kovach Mobile Equipment.

Saudi Arabia's Military:
The Social Aspects of the Kingdom's Armed Forces
Introduction For a land with such a long history of military conquests, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
has a relatively short one. Strategic movements by the House of Saud in the 1800s started the birth
of the Kingdom, and the military has quickly transformed from a tribal militia to a regional super–
power. However, Saudi Arabia is not without its faults. In this paper, I will paint a brief picture of
where the Saudi military originated from and how it evolved into its current state. I will then address
significant issues with manpower in the Saudi armed forces, the most critical failure of their military

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Saudi Arabia played a key supporting role to the United States in
the Iran–Iraq War and the Persian Gulf War. Saudi forces participated in international coalitions to
protect oil interests in the Persian Gulf and to monitor hostile forces. Additionally, Saudi forces
contributed to small combat operations in the Persian Gulf War, flying over 3,000 air sorties and
deploying six army brigades. The traditional threats that Saudi Arabia was used to evolved in the
late 1990s to Islamic terrorists and unstable neighbors with the capability of employing weapons of
mass destruction, such as Iraq and Iran.

In the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks, the United States government passed a series of
resolutions and acts that can be considered controversial by many. One of these resolutions is the
Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF). This resolution allows the
President "To use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons
he determines planned, authorized committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on
September 11th 2001..." (S.Res. 107–40). The resolution also mentions that it applies to those who

While some might say that this is not a topic that directly affects Americans, in 2011 an American
citizen was killed overseas in Yemen because of this resolution. Anwar–al–Awlaki was an American
Citizen; he was killed by a drone strike while he was visiting Yemen. It was suspected that Awlaki
was a high–ranking member of Al–Qaida, however it was never proven. The Obama administration
also fought not to release information regarding Awlaki's case in many lawsuits, claiming that they
did not need to disclose the information (Ackerman). As of 2014, no definitive proof has been given
regarding the relationship between Al–Qaida and Anwar–al–Awlaki. Another debate that stems from
this issue has to do with the possibility of a similar incident happening on our soil. Theoretically, a
US citizen, living on US soil, could be classified as a terrorist and also be killed on US soil, with the
AUMF being used as justification. One of the main concerns with the AUMF is that no trial in
necessary in order to be declared guilty, and that is where most of the controversy arose from when
it came to the killing of Anwar–al–Awlaki. While this resolution was passed fourteen years ago, its
implications are still being felt today. Another issue with the AUMF is that it is technically
unconstitutional. The Bill of Rights applies to every US citizen, but if the President presumes

War: Is Military Force Ever Justified? War has become a very sensitive, polarizing subject in the

The press does everything it can to show pro–war propaganda, in way which shows the urgency of
issues and justifying the use of force by our brave military. The press normalizes war as a patriotic
event, and almost seems to ostracize those who do not back it, labeling them as unpatriotic. The
news outlets exaggerate issues and show war as the last and only option. So, when is war okay? For
one, when a country's borders are threatened. If a country is being invaded, there is a reason to use
military force. When a country's citizens are in danger, the country should be able to use military
force. There is an obligation for the military to protect American citizens, and that sometimes entails
using force. Fighting for our freedom, safety, and happiness is a reason to use military force.
Examples of such would include when we entered WWII after the attack on Pearl Harbor, or when
we went to war in the Middle East after 9/11 as a way to prevent further attacks on US soil. Another
reason would be if a larger, more powerful country attacks one of our allies, or even a smaller,
defenseless country. Morally, America should step in and do the right thing and help these other
countries keep their people safe. Cases like this are harder to justify, as they are not totally
necessary; however, they are are smart. Building allies and keeping relationships strong means more

55. American Military Force Essay
Early Americans understood the necessity of powerful armed forces and citizen volunteers in times
of conflict. As the United States became a developed country, it also became apparent that a strong
military force was necessary for global trade and strategic positioning for the prevention and
possible participation in war. Strengthening America's military resulted in the United States
becoming and remaining a major world power.
Prior to the late 1800's the focus of most Americans was the fulfillment of the Manifest Destiny

industrialized country. Poland was more of an agricultural country and simply lacked the
industrialization and technology in order to mass–produce military weapons and resources the way
other major world powers were easily able to do. That is not to say the Polish did not have the

As the German forces continued to close the gap on the cornered Allied forces, the Allies saw the

Having army rangers, selected trained military intelligence units, civil affairs, etc. over to defeat the
Islamic state is going to be a lot more effective. There has to be an increase in the size of the U.S.
force. It would be a united team of logistical, intelligence, and security force. They will all be
working with the Iraqi security force. This method could have really good results but it also has its
negative. By enforcing the military force and security in Iraq specially in Mosul, it will send a

Another way that would be achieved is by putting people under cover. Someone in the Iraqi security

would start recruiting a lot more people (more than what they have now) and found a way to obtain
nuclear weapons to be able to combat with the U.S. and the Iraqis forces. Also, they would continue
to expand by committing more terrorist attacks in other parts of the world to send a loud message to
the world. Something that would be an extremely impact would be if they finally committed an
attack here in the U.S. That is a risk that we are taking by getting involved with Iraq and Isis, but

Custom coins were primarily used to reward members of the military forces who delivered
exemplary performance. This small coin features the organization's distinctive logo. Members carry
it as a proof of their membership.
The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States
Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots
successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him
of being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity
through his bronze coin and saved him from the execution.
Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot
present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger.
Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members.
Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school

United States Air Force Security Forces: The Unites States Air Force is a huge organization that

job opportunities with the organization. This is largely because individual responsibilities in the
United States Air Force contain various risks that are associated with different jobs. One of the most
dangerous jobs at the United States Air Force is Outside the Wire Patrolling which is normally
geared towards securing base. In most cases, these jobs include combating offensive ground combat
operations while taking the fight to the enemy, which is not an easy task. The main goal of Outside

you are a woman and want to go into the armed combat forces, if you can meet the standards that
have been established you are more than likely able to get into the combat position you would like.
Despite the fact that women should stay at home and fulfill their family needs, women have the right

Many people disagree with women joining combat forces because they think that women are the
weaker sex. As stated by Captain Katie, US Marine corps, in the article, "WOMEN IN COMBAT
PROS AND CONS", "The standards of physical fitness have been set to suit men, and women
attempting to reach them will over–stretch themselves...Women serving in integrated units will
suffer higher injury rates as a result of this" (1). Meaning that men in combat deeply believe that
women are not suited to meet combat standards. In spite of the beliefs of many, women have proved
that it is possible to accommodate with training. Women can avoid female injury rates by extra pre–
training for muscle building. According to the article, "Army Ranger School's Assessment of
women", Commander Lamothe states, "Eight of the initial 19 women made it through the initial
Ranger Assessment Phase...the women were joined by 156 male soldiers who training in the

official military support to get there. Allowing a mixed gender force may keep the military strong. It
will only join the capability of taking down the opponent. In addition, it will double the talent pool
for sensitive jobs that require interpersonal skills that not just anyone can have. Women are no
stronger than men, they both have strengths and that is what allows them to be in the military
positions they are in. The changing nature of modern warfare and the critical role that women have

The sheer supremacy of the British military force was more than capable of expeditiously
suppressing an amateur rebellion and successfully restoring the insurgent colonies to their innate

the British undoubtedly had a significant military leverage over the Americans; therefore, if Lord
Germain's [Germain] strategy were properly employed, the British should have won. Germain
informed General William Howe [Howe], and subsequently General Henry Clinton [Clinton], of his
plan in which "a decisive blow had to be delivered" before any reconciliation so that the
"overwhelming force" would shock "the rebels into recognizing the futility of their cause." ... Show

The only reason the Continental Army was spared was because of Howe's secret "hopes of
negotiating a peaceful end to the rebellion." He was also so sure of the fact that "British victory was
inevitable, which in turn meant that a more limited strategy was wholly adequate." By delaying the
process of suppression, the Continental Army gradually gained experience and courage. Washington
also learned from his mistakes in the Battle of New York and ignored his "aggressive military
instincts;" he eventually put aside his "honor–driven character" to adopt a new attitude towards his
definition of a victory. "Though it ran counter to all his instincts, he now realized that his goal was
not to win the war but rather not to lose it," and thus he embraced a defensive strategy in the fortress

What was the available transport by land, river or sea? What was the length, security and nature of
communication lines? However, this biggest questions were concerned with the welfare of the
soldier, what were they going to eat? What weapons were available? How were they going to be
cared for? These were the questions that if not dealt with appropriately would rapidly decrease the
effectiveness of the army.1
First of all, the most important part of logistics, the sustenance and hydration of the soldiers needs to
be considered. In short what were they going to eat and drink throughout the campaign? The
methods changed quite notably throughout the time period, this having some relationship to the size
of armies, although this will be covered at a later time. The first method of both feeding the army
and drawing the enemy from their fortifications was the chevauchee, essentially an armed raid,
typified by pillage, burning, rape and murder, essentially destroying everything in its path. An
example of this would be Edward III, who ravaged France, both surviving in enemy territory and
also compelling Phillip to fight in open combat. The chevauchee can be seen as an effective form of
feeding small armies, however any great army would have trouble acquiring the sheer amount
necessary for its survival.

Imagine a war. It doesn't matter which war, because all of them have several things in common.
Wars are very costly. They have cost thousands to millions of dollars in equipment, and all wars

population. Those who do survive are scarred, sometimes physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Many retired soldiers suffer from PTSD, or post–traumatic stress disorder, as well as severe or fatal

The question is: when is military force justified? Military force is justified when the safety of our
