2. This image is a contender for the front cover of my magazine. The medium
shot of my male artist follows the conventions of a pop magazine as typically
this specific shot would feature on the front cover of magazines. Not only
does my male artist physically attract the female target audience, but he also
creates a feeling of intimacy and connection between his fans and the heart
throb artist uses direct address ( eye contact ). The smile connotes the artists
cheek and humour, enticing the target audience to purchase the magazine.
3. These two medium shots are also contenders for my front cover as they
follow the typical conventions of a magazine front cover. The mise-en-scene
used (stool, guitar, microphone and microphone stand) emphasises his love
for his profession and his music. The guitar also highlights the pop genre and
the direct address (eye contact) insinuates that he is a well known, heart
throb for girls of all ethnicities. The image on the right shows my musician
looking away from the camera and focusing on his guitar. The indirect
address creates an element of mystery for the target audience and entices
them to find out more about their favourite male artist.
4. This picture will be used in my double page spread. The mise-en-scene in this
image (microphone and fans below) emphasises the reality of his profession and
the reaching hands represent the screaming fans of all ethnicities. His casual
clothing represents his personal style and is comfortable when performing. He is
looking towards the direction of the fans which connotes he has love and
respect for all those that spend money on his music. The fact he is reaching out
towards the fans also emphases the connection he feels between himself and
his fans.
5. This wide medium/long shot will be displayed in my contents page. The girl group are
represented as close because of the body language and placement within the photo.
Their individual style aspires the target audience to be like them- creating a higher
demand for the magazine. They’re all looking directly at the camera and smiling
(direct address), creating a friendly tone and welcoming the readers to the contents
page. The natural make up is followed by a bright lipstick indicating the genre of pop.
Their natural glow represents the target audience as youthful, teenagers of all
ethnicities.
6. This picture, if chosen, will represent the cheeky, fun loving target audience that
purchases the magazine. As my target audience is targeted for all ethnicities, this
image instantly represents the variety of my target audience. The medium long
shot and her body language demonstrates a natural, innocent girl image who
would be likely to purchase PurePop.
7. This image will possibly be featured in the
contents page. The body language implies to
the target audience that she's confident and
girls should aspire to be like her. As i’m
targeting my magazine at girls of all
ethnicities, its important that there are a
variety of images with different ethnic
models which will increase the demand of my
brand’s magazine. Her bright red lip stick
follows the typical convention of a pop
magazine, further highlighting my genre.
8. This image not only displays a model with
a different ethnic background, but his
male, muscular appearance will instantly
entice the target audience. His direct eye
contact and smile towards the target
audience welcomes them into the
contents page and invites them to read
the articles.
