Roles Of Person Centred Counselling
Person–centred counselling deals therapy in which client is the ultimate focus of attention of his or her own therapy. Person–centred therapy aims at
creating a relationship with their clients through which the clients are able develop their self–awareness. Person– Centred counsellors deal with the
present, i.e. the here and now. In person centred approach, the therapeutic relationship is of immense importance and is based on mutuality and equality.
"It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.' (Rogers, 2004,
p11).
The most important concept of person centred counselling is 'actualizing tendency'. It is based on the notion that individuals are driven by ... Show more

He is full autonomous and free to steer the wheel in any direction he wishes. The role of the therapist is to create a psychological environment in
which the client is able to believe in himself as being absolutely fit and sufficient to take charge of his life decisions. The role of therapist in being
non–directive can be summed up by a question identified by Rogers, "Am I really with this person at this moment"
Mearns and Thorne (1998) investigates the foundations of the person centred and states that focusing on past experiences is damaging for the present
self–concept. This will have a domino effect as this self–concept will not let individuals reach their full potential and therefore, they will fail in
becoming fully functioning persons. Furthermore, the need for positive self–regard, according to Rogers, developed in early childhood and directly
influenced one's self worth.
'One way of assisting the individual to move toward openness to experience is through a relationship in which he is prized as a separate person, in
which the experiencing going on within him is empathically understood and valued, and in which he is given the freedom to experience his own feelings
and those of others without being threatened in doing so.' (Rogers, 'The Valuing Process in the Mature Person',

The Positive Aspects Of Stereotypes
In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a
sense of being rational and just being ignorant. Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be
like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless,
etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to reduce
uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple–auto
stereotype is the term referred to when referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own thoughts and
ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called
Perry, Georgia and here numerous amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the Indian gas
station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we
as a community do not know much about their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the
uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had become exceedingly important in understanding the
relationship between culture and personality. This is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are
conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many premature studies have provided support for the
cross–cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. Allik and McCrae (2004) made it be visible that the personality traits were not related to a
geographic location, but, geographically recognized historically close cultures had more similar personality profiles. In the end the results to date

Transformational Leader
Category six, "Think Win–Win", scored "very good" at 15 points. Credit is given where credit is due. If an employee has a great idea and it is
brought up in a meeting, I will make sure to mention that employee by name so they get the credit for that idea. I care strongly about the success of
others when it is deserved and earned. I cooperate with others and find a solution for conflicts that benefits everyone involved.
The seventh category, "Seek First to Understand", also scored "very good" at 13 point. Although I may not be as sensitive to others' feelings as I

Transformational leaders promote a workplace in which employees can develop intelligence and rational thinking. This stimulation aids independent
problem solving by employees (Choi, S. L., Goh, C. F., Adam, M. B., & Tan, O. K., 2016). This is a weakness that I carry on my shoulders. There is
a tendency to be rushed and overloaded with tasks. This unfortunately does not give enough time or resources to involve all of the key personnel such
as the engineering technicians. They are the heart of the project after the design phase and should be given the opportunity to have more intellectual
stimulation than is allowed by the time constraints. More training and knowledge of projects is needed in this

Big Five Personality Model Of A Professional Workplace
Big Five Personality Model A professional workplace is an environment that produces numerous challenging situations and if not handled correctly,
could create a very unproductive organization. A well–qualified employee is selected to be responsible for overseeing many aspects of a company,
including difficult situations that arise between co–workers. The term given to this worker is a manager; their main task in the organization is to help
other employees work more effectively towards their goals. This may sound like a rather simple task, but it is very deep and layered with different
difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an internationally renowned author on business and management, broke down the tasks a manager faces into ten
different roles. According to Mintzberg's managerial roles, there are three categories that break up the ten roles a manager performs: Interpersonal,
Informational, and Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead, leader, and liaison. Informational includes monitor, disseminator, and
spokesperson. Finally, Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is clear that being a manager is a
demanding job and that it requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills. There are numerous different research projects that have been
performed in hopes to discover a new way for managers to be more effective and successful in their day to day activities. A remarkable amount of

Self Esteem In Sports Essay
Individuals tend to have different ways on how they feel about themselves mentally, physically, and on how they view and experience life in general. It
is extremely important to know each individual level of well–being, self–esteem, life satisfaction and how they are open to new experiences when they
are practicing sports. They all play a big role in athletes; this can benefit or harm the athlete on their performance. For example, if an athlete is having
low self–esteem, not believing in himself and is close minded than this can harm his performance. In the other hand, if the athlete has a good
self–esteem, well–being and is willing to be open to new experience than this can benefit the athlete on it's performing. The article "A correlative study
between the level of well–being, self–esteem, life satisfaction, openness and sport practices at student at psychology" by Madalina Petrescu, Angela
Boglut, and Mihaila Teodor is about the relationship betweenpersonality traits, openness, extroversion and practicing sport. It is extremely important
for the athletes to be able to have a good well–being, life satisfactions, be able to be open to new experience and especially have a high self–esteem
when practicing a sport. The five big models are important in this study because it identifies the five personality traits of a person and this can help the
individual well–being, self–esteem and life satisfaction. In the textbook, chapter two, it explain in details the five traits

Strengths And Weaknesses
In order to define and understand myself in the workplace, I need to know my strengths and weaknesses. What improvements and alterations do I need
in order to be a step closer to success in the workplace? As a starting point, the self–assessments provided by McGrawHill and the information from
management class will provide a clearer picture of who I am in terms of leading, acquired needs, teamwork attitudes, global potential, and strategic
thinking. From what I have gathered, the results relating to personality were accurate and the results relating to potential were surprising to me. With
this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The survey results I am most satisfied with are acquired needs and global
potential because a need for achievement and potential for global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself in terms of my future
goals. The negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and a need for power and affiliation. Although I was aware of these strengths
and weaknesses, these self–assessment tests put an emphasis and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and behaviors when
interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results or not, all of these qualities can be continuously worked on for
improvement.
The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to lead on your own and how you respond to others
ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I scored high on my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don't find it easy
to take initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki, 2018, p23). In chapter 1 of Kinicki, "motivating, directing
and influencing people to work hard to achieve the organization's goals" is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the organization is on
the same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any obstacles that may come. I have not associated those actions with the term
'leading' but rather 'assisting' which is probably why I was surprised with the results. Now that I know I have some motivation to lead, I should work

I should work harder if I want to have much money when I am old. Remarkably, I am introvert. I own poor interpersonal skills, be invisible in the
crowd, go with negative emotions. Thus, my work performance is low, I have very little promotion chances, be hard to be satisfied with my job,
there is no chances for me to be leader. I am fairly agreeable, easy to work with others, less likely to engage in organizational deviance but poor
negotiator. Good performance of working in groups and the ability to avoid trouble in workplace are results of this. However, I shouldn't get my foot
on negotiating field. I often have less negative thinking and fewer negative emotions, am less hyper–vigilant. I can be happier, more satisfied with my
job, bare stress fairly. My colleagues will feel Ok when working with me, my work isn't affected by negative emotions.
3. My thoughts on the results When I got the results, there are many conflicts appearing to my head. The first, looking at the scores, I am very
surprised that all scores fluctuate around average level. My highest score, openness to experience, just reaches to 3.3 on total 5. It seems that I tend to
keep everything at balance. The second, there are disagreements between scores. For instance, the results of openness to experience and shows me a

Daniel Levinson's Theory Of Middle Adulthood
Middle adulthood refers to the time period between 45 and 65, in which adults have settled down and are now contemplating their place in the world.
It's during middle adulthood that adults now are faced with the effort of passing on something meaningful to future generations. The theories associated
with middle adulthood describe the different aspects that are important during middle adulthood, from personality development to vital relationships.
Examining these aspects can help one to gain a better understanding of the development that occurs during middle adulthood. One theory that describes
the way in which personality develops during this time is Erikson's theory. Erikson's theory refers to middle adulthood as the stage of generativity
versus stagnation; generativity describes the passing on of a legacy from one generation to the next, where stagnation is the lack of passing on such a
legacy. Generativity can be accomplished by bearing offspring, guiding and nurturing children, and passing on life skills and culture. It's during this
stage that adults try to lead the next generation by teaching, guiding, and participating in activities that benefit the community (Santrock, 2017, pg. 487).
Another theory associated with personality during middle age is Daniel Levinson's Seasons of a Man's Life. According to Levinson's theory, there are
seven stages of life, with each stage consisting of a transitional period and a stable period. The first of his seven stages is the

Gender And Openness At Experience
Gender and Openness to Experience Sydney Holst Arizona State University: PSY 290 Abstract The relationship between gender and openness to
experience was examined. Arizona State University undergraduate students participated in taking a Goldberg–based Big–Five survey to measure their
openness to experience. Women had higher levels of openness to experience compared to men. These findings suggest that there is a relationship
between gender and the personality trait of openness to experience. Gender and Openness to Experience From the beginning of one's life, people
interact with one another, immediately creating new relationships. The type of relationships humans develop is determined by an individual's
personality. Based upon the Big Five Factor Model, there are five broad personality traits to describe humans (Costa, 1992). The Big Five traits are
openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (Matthews, Deary, & Whiteman, 2003). This five–factor
model has been the basis of many studies within the field of psychology. Previous research has examined gender differences in the Big Five
personality traits in fifty–five nations (Schmidt, Realo, Voracek, & Allik, 2008). Schmidt, Realo, Voracek, and Allik (2008) found that across the
fifty–five nations there was no significance in average. They found that women reported higher in average conscientiousness, extraversion,

believed that I was different but what exactly makes me different is what intrigues me. According to the United States Census Bureau there are 7
billion people living on the earth. The personalities of these 7 billion people are all different. Everyone holds personality traits that define who he or she

Individuals who are high in agreeableness tend to help and show empathy for others. This need to help others is the reason why I will become a
Doctor in the future.
I am a considerate, good–natured, and friendly individual who always tries to maintain positive relationships with others. I truly do enjoy helping
others and have noticed that many people trust me. Because of friendliness I have noticed that I have a lot of friends and I am always working in
groups with other individuals.
A good past experience that exemplified my agreeableness would have to be when I became a Student Ambassador. As an ambassador my job was to
create a comfortable environment and keep a student interested in attending UIC. I would also give out tours of certain places on campus. We would at
times visit different universities and have team building workshops and competitions. Most importantly I worked in groups with my fellow peers.
This past summer we were instructed to meet at Soldier field for the Chicago Football Classic. We were set up, answer questions, and distribute gift

my exact location I was thoughtful enough for my driver. The day was very humid and the sun was out, I knew

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Extroverts
On the Internet, introverted users can be more outgoing, confident, and sociable because the lack of non–verbal cues, control over personal information
disclosed, and ability to process conversation in slower than real–time provides increased control over one's self–presentation, making social interaction
less overwhelming (Bargh & McKenna, 2004; Eysenck, 1954; Eysenck, 1967; Turkle, 2011; Zhao, Grasmuck, & Martin, 2008). Maldonado, Mora,

2009). Since low self–esteem is related to negative emotional expressions in wall postings (Forest & Wood, 2012), it is likely that neurotic individuals
will exhibit negative emotions through Facebook (Koseoglu, 2015). Openness to Experiences Openness to experience refers to the extent to which an
individual is willing to explore new situations. Individuals who are open to experience generally prefer variety, novel experiences, and are
intellectually curious whereas individuals who are low in openness are typically conservative, prefer uniformity and are intellectually disinterested
(Glass et al, 2013). Since this trait entails creativity, intellectualism, and a tendency for exploring new ideas, it has been found to be correlated with
users' personality and social media use (Correa, Hinsley, & de Zuniga, 2010). Heavier users of social networking sites reported higherlevels of
openness to experience (Ross et al., 2009). Individuals with such a trait seem to post more on others' walls (Ross, Orr, Sisic, Arseneault, Simmering, &

Relationship Between Personality And Participation
Abstract: The aim of the experiment is to examine the relationship between personality and participation in sport. Specifically, it will investigate
whether there is a connection between particular personality traits. The data for the experiment was collected using a questionnaire. There were a total
of 28 participants in this experiment, with 10 males and 18 females. The participants had to state their gender and what sport they play. Participants
were required to indicate their response by circling the rating on the scale of 1 to 5 that mostly represents what they thought their personality traits
were. Rating 1 and 2 related to the trait presented on the left and rating 4 and 5 related to the trait presented on the right. All participants were given an
anonymous number which they used to record their results again on the data record sheet with the rest of the classes results. An average of each
participant's results for the Big Five's personality traits was then calculated. The results showed that there was both a high and weak correlation
between the different types of sports and the different types of personality traits. Introduction: Personality is described as the characteristics of an

Characteristics Of Drunk Driving
Drunk Driving
Although situations differ and each person is unique, some common traits have been identified among drunk drivers. In the study "personality traits
and mental health of severe drunk drivers in Sweden", 162 Swedish DUI offenders of all ages were studied to find links in psychological factors and
characteristics. There are a wide variety of characteristics common among DUI offenders which are discussed, including: "anxiety, depression,
inhibition, low assertiveness, neuroticism and introversion". There is also a more specific personality type found, typically more antisocial, among
repeat DUI offenders. It is also common for offenders to use drinking as a coping mechanism, not necessarily for social or enjoyment reasons, when
they are antisocial in nature and have a father with a history of alcoholism. Offenders who begin drinking at an earlier age for thrills and "fun" are
more likely to be antisocial later in their lives. The majority of the sample, 72%, came from what is considered more "normal" circumstances. This
group was older when they began drinking, came from families without a history of alcoholism, were relatively well–behaved as children, were not as
physically and emotionally affected by alcohol when compared with the rest of the study, and had the less emotional complications, such as anxiety
and depression. The smaller portion of the sample, 28%, comes from what is generally

The Influence of Athletic Competition on Psychological...
Literature review and Research Questions Research has illustrated that athletic competition has a strong influence on psychological development,
impacting an individual's formation in areas such as self–esteem, body image and overall well–being (Anshel, 2000; Findlay & Bowker, 2007; Haugen,
Safvenbom & Ommundsen, 201; Peden, Stiles, Vandehey & Diekhoff, 2008). A large sector of this research has specifically analyzed the outcomes of
negative experiences within athletics, especially those high in stress and therefore resulting in potentially detrimental consequences for athletes. A
major source of stress within athletics is due to potential and veritable athletic injuries due to overuse, during–game accidents and other competition
/training related afflictions (Hanson, McCullagh & Tonymon, 1992). Approximately 3–5 million injuries occur due to athletics each year (Smith,
Smoll & Ptacek, 1990), and the prevalence of such injuries suggests that the trauma experienced could pose a significant threat to athletes, both
physically and psychologically, a phenomenon that warrants further investigation. For the past 30 years or so, research has evaluated the manner with
which people handle stressful situations, which include athletic injury, and across the literature it has been consistently and reliably found that people
vary in the manner with which they express well–being across stressful life events (Carver, Scheier & Weintraub,1989; DeLongis & Holtzman, 2005;

Personality Analysis of Marilyn Monroe By Using Trait Theories Marilyn Monroe, whose real name is Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born on June

and pop icons of the 20th century. Despite her an unhappy, difficult childhood she got succeed during her short life period. She worked minor roles
for years. Then, she showed her comedy ability, appearance on television and attraction with films. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a

The most predominant features of Marilyn Monroe's personality can be explained by extraversion and neuroticism with Eyesenk's model of
personality. If they are explained in order, first of all, she was extremely extroverted; she could easily carry on conversations with others despite her
difficulty for developing close relational ties. She was enthusiastic, talkative, social, assertive and motivated woman. Her extraversion may also explain
that why she is still remembered, talked and imitated today. Secondly, Marilyn Monroe has severe neuroticism. "People who score high on neuroticism
tend to be anxious, temperamental, self–pitying, self–conscious, emotional, and vulnerable to stress– related disorders" (p.428–9). She had a tendency
to experience negative, intense, puzzled feelings and was inconsistent with her feelings. She was often very depressed and in bad mood. Because of
these reasons, she used drugs and alcohol. In these conditions, her childhood experiences may have a big impact on her neurotic personality. Lack of
unconditional love and support from her parents, her mother's serious medical and psychological disorders, the state of being exploited by others may
make her more nervous, anxious, and emotional etc. Finally, I believe that psychoticism, which means being antisocial, hostile and

last meeting was on the last weekend before handing in the project and it also was the day where the video was prepared (See Exhibit 2). Between
meetings the group communicated through GroupMe app and shared files through Google Drive and Google Mail (Gmail). Firstly, examining the
nature of the meetings and the communication between the group members will help to understand what factors have limited the team's performance.
The main factor that had a negative effect on the team performance was the communication process. During and between meetings, the discussion was

Five Factor Model Of Personality Analysis
The Five–Factor Model of personality
A "trait" is a temporally stable, cross–situational individual difference. Presently, for studying personality traits there are two important models with
five factors, Costa & Mc Crae's Five Factor Model, and Goldberg's Big Five (as sighted in Mc Adams, 1992). In Five–Factor Model there are five traits
named as Extraversion, openness, Agreeableness conscientiousness and Neuroticism. The Big Five model replaces "neuroticism" with "emotional
stability", and names the "openness" factor "intelligence". The Big Five are based upon factor analysis of the entire trait–descriptive adjective in a
natural language, as collected from a dictionary. The Big Five are meant to provide a comprehensive description of phenotypic... Show more content on

Nature vs. Nurture Essay
Different personality traits make us who we are today. There are many factors to our personalities and each aspect illustrates a bigger picture of
who we are and how we came to be. Openness to experience is a factor of the Five Factor Model (FFM) that describes my personality and is an
essential part of who I am in this society. Openness utilizes active imagination, attentiveness to inner feelings, intellectual curiosity, interest in variety,
and interest in aesthetics. It is used to display a general appreciation for creative ideas, imaginations, and the arts. Due to a sufficient amount of
psychometric research, it is valid to say that openness is viewed as a global personality trait that is comprised of a set of specific habits,... Show more

Although, they were traditionally Korean in the sense that they craved discipline and enforced good morals on me, they were also understanding of
the imaginative world. Also, my parents are true believers of being open to all types of art. However, not only are they true believers of this
openness, it is apparent that is in them that they are open to experience. Ever since I was five, I have played the cello. This driving force behind the
pursuit of music stems from my parents' broad outlook on the arts and their thoughts on how important it is to learn about the arts. These evidences
display that openness to experience carries a genetic component. Not only in my immediate family is it apparent that there is a genetic component to
openness to experience, but in my extended family it is evident as well. Another prime example of the "nature" quality of openness is illustrated
through my twin cousins. I have twin cousins, who were raised in drastically different environments. However despite the different environments,
both of my cousins have the same FMM trait: openness to experience. One of the twins named Yuri was sent to boarding school in America at an
early age while my other twin cousin Nari stayed in Korea. Yuri was raised by my aunt and uncle in New York City and lived a very liberal and
non–traditionally Korean lifestyle. On the other hand, Nari remained in Korea and was raised in a very culturally

Well–being and Career Stability in Middle Adulthood" by Marek BlatnГЅ, KatarГna MillovГЎ, Martin JelГnek, Terezie OseckГЎ. The problem that
these researchers identified was the relationship between personality and psychological functioning and well–being, or the relations between
personality and social functioning. The authors conducted this study mainly to determine whether ones' personality affects his/her satisfaction with
their quality of life in adulthood. They believe that personality traits play a major role in who/what you become in the future and they wanted to see if
they could predict it. If yes, they wanted to know how early? – As early as childhood, adolescence or early adulthood. 2b) The authors provided the

People with this personality will not easily get disturbed , will not get stressed out easily whenever he/she are facing problem and would not worry
about things. He/she will have a positive thinking and try to solve the problem with the easy way. On the other hand, those who score low in emotional
stability means that he/she is emotional instability or sometimes call neuroticism. They are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and
minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. Their negative emotional reactions tend to persist for unusually long periods of time, which means they are
often in a bad mood. These problems in emotional regulation can diminish the ability of a person scoring high on neuroticism to think clearly, make
decisions, and cope effectively with stress. Openness to experience is used to describe human personality. Openness involves active imagination,
aesthetic sensitivity, attentiveness to inner feelings, preference for variety, and intellectual curiosity. A great deal of psychometric research has
demonstrated that these qualities are statistically correlated. Thus, openness can be viewed as a global personality trait consisting of a set of specific
traits, habits, and tendencies that cluster together. Openness is associated with tolerance of ambiguity (which means when something is not clear), a

The Role Of Desirable Personality Traits On The Formation...
Not surprisingly, a leader's personality is a major component of how he leads his subordinates and his success in such an endeavor. To make a
difficult task more even more intricate, leadership involves interacting with individuals ranging from a few to a few hundred strong, all with
personalities and circumstances in life equally complex as the leader himself. Despite the odds against them, stories of excellent leaders are
ubiquitous and consist of many different types of people doing the leading in many walks of life. In addition to the anecdotal evidence supporting
the role of desirable personality traits being involved in the formation of a good leader it can be seen through experience and history that certain
traits are more beneficial than others. Especially when the scope is narrowed down to more specific career paths, personalities and their desired traits
can be determined more effectively. This is particularly accurate when examining military professionals, a group whose history, successes, and
failures are closely recorded in texts throughout the ages. In my own endeavor to establish a base from which to dissect my personality and how it
plays into my role as a second–class cadet at USAFA and in the future I took a 'Big 5' personality test and asked several peers, subordinates, and past

Early Exposure Of Foreign Literature
Introduction Literature, has, from the time of its introduction to society, been one of the foremost tools used for social action and change. From
describing social climate and conditions to using satires to bring about desired adjustments, literature has played a very important role in the
development of social attitudes. Albrecht's 1954 essay on the relationship between literature and society sums it up perfectly; literature not only acts as
a reflection of society but also has an influence on cultural ideals and social stability. In this study, the aim is to concentrate on early exposure to

An individual's personality is an aspect within their constructed identity. According to a study by Putnam, Ellis and Rothbart (2001), individual
differences in personality factors as determined by the Big Five Factor Model are present and continue to persist from very young ages. This suggests
that early influences to personality and identity are vital for their development. Most other studies on personality development maintain personality to
be in a dynamic state, never achieving absolute stability. Environmental influences, therefore, play a big role in the development of a person's
personality. In Cattell's 16 personality factors questionnaire, first developed in 1957, Personality is measured having been divided into 5 global
factors and 16 primary ones. The factor which measures liberalness is the primary factor Q1 or Openness to Change, wherein a high score indicates the
participant to be liberal, experimenting, analytical, critical, free–thinking and flexible. A low score on the same would indicate that the individual is
traditional and highly attached to familiar values and environments. This primary factor falls under the global factor of Tough–mindedness; here, a high
score on Openness to Change would indicate that the individual or participant is open–minded, intuitive and receptive to other people. Cattell's

I recognize that I don't have the most professional look at this point in my life. Having a tattoo on my left forearm and a side shave can be a
hit–or–miss in the work field. Some in employers can view it as a way to add character or diversity to their company. While others may turn their
nose up at the sight and immediately reject me on the spot. In this situation, jobs that involve psychology directly would most likely not accept this
look. I struggled with accepting this and attempted to hide my less professional aspects. I washed my hair so that I could flip my part in an attempt
to cover my side shave. Even though it was hot in the gym, I still wore a sweater that covered my tattoo. These precautions actually made me feel less

Both of these actions would result in exposing my unprofessional tattoo and hair. I also feared that I would become noticeable sweaty because a room

How Does The Dark Side Derail Careers And Companies?
Abstract Everyone has their unique personality, but some have suggested that there are two sides to personality: the bright side and the dark side.
Does the personality of the dark side derail careers and companies? But wait, let's take Steve Jobs as an example, everyone knows he lead Apple
and is one of the greatest minds of this generation. However, he did not donate his vast wealth to good causes, unlike other rich people, such as Bill
Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. He even shut down Apple's charity programs. This lead people to think: Do bad guys win at work? "Not all psychopaths
are in prison– some are in the board room." Robert Hare Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy are often referred to three personality
characteristics of the term 'Dark Triad' (Paulhus & Williams, 2002). The structure of Machiavellianism, in short, describes the manipulative personality
and are more likely to take revenge against other (O'Boyle, Forsyth, Banks & McDaniel, 2012). Narcissists are often hostile when their egos are
threatened and engage in attention–seeking behaviours. Babiak and Hare (2006) describes Narcissists as "They think that everything that happens
around them, in fact, everything that others say and do, is or should be about them." Psychopathy is characterised by dishonesty, lack of empathy,
egocentricity as well as risk–taking. The majority of people believe these dark triads have the undesirable effect, difficult to deal with and likely to

Myths And Myths Of Vampires Essay
My entire life I have believed in the Supernatural world and all the myths that have been around for thousands of years. My favorite myths are
about Vampires, Werewolves, and all the Greek and Roman Myths. I believe in the supernatural because, it's something different then what
happens in your everyday life. I like to think that there 's more to life than what people tell you and there's still a lot of the world that hasn't been
discovered yet, so who know's what actually out there and what's not. I believe in a lot of the myths about Vampires, because a lot of them are the
same. In all the myths Vampires can live forever, only a few things can kill them and they drink blood. The only difference in the myths are can
sunlight hurt them or not , in a few myths it is said that vampires can die or lose most of their abilities if the go outside during the day. But, some
myths say that if a Vampire feeds within a 24 range out going outside they will be fine but only for a few hours. There's a lot of myths about
Vampires like who they are, how they act, and what they look like. I think about all the myths and believe in most of what they say, because the
myths have never been proven wrong or never been proven right. There's not a lot of different myths about Werewolves, but I think that they're one of
the coolest creatures to hear stories about. Some stories say that the person can transform their whole body into a wolf, but some of the new legends

Creativism a Constant Company of Humans Throughout History
As Carl Gustav Jung wisely stated, there is a certain fascination with regard to creativity. Creativity expresses itself in many different forms, shapes,
sizes, colours and sounds. It is a concept difficult to grasp as it is broad. However most people would think of themselves as being able to judge who
and what is actually creative. But what exactly is "creativity"? Amible (1983) defines creativity as the production of ideas, insights and also products
that are both, original and adaptive. Originality in this context refers to novelty of an idea and adaptation to the appropriateness. This is the
definition predominantly used in creativity research (Sternberg & Lubart 1999; Simonton & Damian,2013) and is therefore used in this paper as
well. In historical terms, creativity was a constant accompanist of human kind. We had to change the environment, and invent tools according to
our needs in order to survive. Thus, creativity is a universal occurrence in all cultures (Simonton & Ting, 2010). However, which idea is assumed
to be original and appropriate, so considered to be creative, depends strongly on context and time (Njistad et al., 2010). As stated by Nijstad et al.
(2010) the work of Vincent van Gough is a good example of a different perception of creativity in different times. When Van Gough died he was a
poor man but his works are sold for millions today. Similar is the example of the French post–impressionist artist Paul Gauguin who was not well

Freud 's Theory Of Psychosexual Stages Of Development And...
Abstract
Freud's theory of psychosexual stages of development and Costa and McCrae's Five Factor model were compared to assess the personality of a
woman named Judy, experiencing difficulty in her primary relationships and day to day functioning. The main purposes of the study is to explain
how each theorist would assess Judy's behavior and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and further the differences and any
similarities found. The key strength of Costa and McCrae's model was providing a detailed and structured analysis of personality that is scientifically
based however was limited in explaining the origin of Judy's personality. Freud's observational method using the Rorschach has little scientific
evidence however his theory did provide explanations for how Jane's personality developed. While there were many differences some similarities were
also found with the most interesting that final assessments were similar, with a possible same diagnosis which indicated that even across two every
different theories and theorists there is agreement in how personality is ultimately assessed.

students as arts majors or conventional majors and compared creativity measures to form an odds ratio of being an arts major. Personality traits,
creative achievements, and music preference were the aspects explored. Undergraduates were assessed in two samples with multiple measures. The
first sample of 188 undergraduates were given the Big Five Aspect Scales (BFAS), the Creative Achievement Questionnaire (CAQ), the Creative

into one creative achievement score that resulted in an odds ratio of 8.51, the second highest predictor from both samples. The second sample also
revealed openness to experience, from the NEO–FFI, as a significant predictor to having an arts major. The odds ratio was 6.91. Reflective and
complex music preferences, which include the genres classical, jazz, blues, and folk, had an odds ratio of 2.30. The remaining variables within these

Reflection On Professionalism
Being a professional is more than having fancy attire, carrying an Italian leather briefcase or using complex linguistics. Professionalism can be
described as conduct, or qualities that are foreseen as professional. Professionalism is a learned trait that is taught by a person or learned through
experiences. For me, personally, I will reflect on my ethical and personal professionalism and the innate journey it has taken me thus far. For myself, in
particular, I will travel through my experience. I venture through the encounter of being taught the art of professionalism, the discussion of being a
professional in counseling, to the development of being a professional. During the developmental stage I choose to explore the topics of interferences
that would negatively influence my work in the profession, and idiosyncrasies that would perpetuate positive impact.
Let's begin from the being of my endeavors in the professional realm. I first learned how to be a professional from an early age from my mother. She
bestowed the wisdom of professionalism and modeled how professional women should represent themselves. I would say that my mother gave me the
foundation and framework on how to represent myself as a professional black woman in the medical and mental health field.
Relating back to my opening statements, I believe that my general experience in the work field also at a young age shaped my professionalism. At
16–years–old I was forced to learn; the chain of command, conflict resolution, and mannerism in a profession, a few ethical guidelines and the potency
of time. Foreseeing my experience, most recently, working in a residential behavioral health facility presented me with an incredible amount of
knowledge. The experience I gathered with the mental health field exhibited how large of a grey area there is. Additionally, the quotes "It depends."
and "It's very technical." are answers I must grow accustom to.
The fact that I was able to work hand–and–hand with a therapist who had extraordinary acquaintance with the field transmitted a vast amount of
insight. The therapist I accompanied communicated life lessons and demonstrated the professional role with expertise. I was stunned by the way she

Roles Of Person Centred Counselling

  • 1. Roles Of Person Centred Counselling Person–centred counselling deals therapy in which client is the ultimate focus of attention of his or her own therapy. Person–centred therapy aims at creating a relationship with their clients through which the clients are able develop their self–awareness. Person– Centred counsellors deal with the present, i.e. the here and now. In person centred approach, the therapeutic relationship is of immense importance and is based on mutuality and equality. "It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.' (Rogers, 2004, p11). The most important concept of person centred counselling is 'actualizing tendency'. It is based on the notion that individuals are driven by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is full autonomous and free to steer the wheel in any direction he wishes. The role of the therapist is to create a psychological environment in which the client is able to believe in himself as being absolutely fit and sufficient to take charge of his life decisions. The role of therapist in being non–directive can be summed up by a question identified by Rogers, "Am I really with this person at this moment" Mearns and Thorne (1998) investigates the foundations of the person centred and states that focusing on past experiences is damaging for the present self–concept. This will have a domino effect as this self–concept will not let individuals reach their full potential and therefore, they will fail in becoming fully functioning persons. Furthermore, the need for positive self–regard, according to Rogers, developed in early childhood and directly influenced one's self worth. 'One way of assisting the individual to move toward openness to experience is through a relationship in which he is prized as a separate person, in which the experiencing going on within him is empathically understood and valued, and in which he is given the freedom to experience his own feelings and those of others without being threatened in doing so.' • 2. The Positive Aspects Of Stereotypes In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a sense of being rational and just being ignorant. Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless, etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to reduce uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple–auto stereotype is the term referred to when referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own thoughts and ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called Perry, Georgia and here numerous amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the Indian gas station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we as a community do not know much about their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had become exceedingly important in understanding the relationship between culture and personality. This is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many premature studies have provided support for the cross–cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. Allik and McCrae (2004) made it be visible that the personality traits were not related to a geographic location, but, geographically recognized historically close cultures had more similar personality profiles. In the end the results to date provide strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A well–qualified employee is selected to be responsible for overseeing many aspects of a company, including difficult situations that arise between co–workers. The term given to this worker is a manager; their main task in the organization is to help other employees work more effectively towards their goals. This may sound like a rather simple task, but it is very deep and layered with different difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an internationally renowned author on business and management, broke down the tasks a manager faces into ten different roles. According to Mintzberg's managerial roles, there are three categories that break up the ten roles a manager performs: Interpersonal, Informational, and Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead, leader, and liaison. Informational includes monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. Finally, Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is extremely important to know each individual level of well–being, self–esteem, life satisfaction and how they are open to new experiences when they are practicing sports. They all play a big role in athletes; this can benefit or harm the athlete on their performance. • 8. Strengths And Weaknesses In order to define and understand myself in the workplace, I need to know my strengths and weaknesses. What improvements and alterations do I need in order to be a step closer to success in the workplace? As a starting point, the self–assessments provided by McGrawHill and the information from management class will provide a clearer picture of who I am in terms of leading, acquired needs, teamwork attitudes, global potential, and strategic thinking. From what I have gathered, the results relating to personality were accurate and the results relating to potential were surprising to me. With this information, I am able to produce and strengthen goals to improve. The survey results I am most satisfied with are acquired needs and global potential because a need for achievement and potential for global managing are the two qualities I like the most about myself in terms of my future goals. The negative results that come as no surprise to me are teamwork and a need for power and affiliation. Although I was aware of these strengths and weaknesses, these self–assessment tests put an emphasis and reminded me that I need to work harder in my attitude and behaviors when interacting/collaborating with people in the workplace. Whether I got good results or not, all of these qualities can be continuously worked on for improvement. The motivation to lead has 3 aspects: how you see yourself as a leader, how willing you are to lead on your own and how you respond to others ask you to lead (Chan and Drasgow, 2001). I scored high on my motivation to lead. This was one of the unexpected results since I don't find it easy to take initiative in leading; it requires a lot of communication and human skills (Kinicki, 2018, p23). In chapter 1 of Kinicki, "motivating, directing and influencing people to work hard to achieve the organization's goals" is the definition of leading. To make sure everyone in the organization is on the same page, one must be able to bring everyone together and resolve any obstacles that may come. I have not associated those actions with the term 'leading' but rather 'assisting' which is probably why I was surprised with the results. Now that I know I have some motivation to lead, I should work on the next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Daniel Levinson's Theory Of Middle Adulthood Middle adulthood refers to the time period between 45 and 65, in which adults have settled down and are now contemplating their place in the world. It's during middle adulthood that adults now are faced with the effort of passing on something meaningful to future generations. The theories associated with middle adulthood describe the different aspects that are important during middle adulthood, from personality development to vital relationships. Examining these aspects can help one to gain a better understanding of the development that occurs during middle adulthood. One theory that describes the way in which personality develops during this time is Erikson's theory. Erikson's theory refers to middle adulthood as the stage of generativity versus stagnation; generativity describes the passing on of a legacy from one generation to the next, where stagnation is the lack of passing on such a legacy. Generativity can be accomplished by bearing offspring, guiding and nurturing children, and passing on life skills and culture. It's during this stage that adults try to lead the next generation by teaching, guiding, and participating in activities that benefit the community (Santrock, 2017, pg. 487). Another theory associated with personality during middle age is Daniel Levinson's Seasons of a Man's Life. According to Levinson's theory, there are seven stages of life, with each stage consisting of a transitional period and a stable period. The first of his seven stages is the ... • 12. Gender And Openness At Experience Gender and Openness to Experience Sydney Holst Arizona State University: PSY 290 Abstract The relationship between gender and openness to experience was examined. Arizona State University undergraduate students participated in taking a Goldberg–based Big–Five survey to measure their openness to experience. Women had higher levels of openness to experience compared to men. These findings suggest that there is a relationship between gender and the personality trait of openness to experience. Gender and Openness to Experience From the beginning of one's life, people interact with one another, immediately creating new relationships. The type of relationships humans develop is determined by an individual's personality. Based upon the Big Five Factor Model, there are five broad personality traits to describe humans (Costa, 1992). The Big Five traits are openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (Matthews, Deary, & Whiteman, 2003). This five–factor model has been the basis of many studies within the field of psychology. Previous research has examined gender differences in the Big Five personality traits in fifty–five nations (Schmidt, Realo, Voracek, & Allik, 2008). Schmidt, Realo, Voracek, and Allik (2008) found that across the fifty–five nations there was no significance in average. They found that women reported higher in average conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Individuals who are open to experience generally prefer variety, novel experiences, and are intellectually curious whereas individuals who are low in openness are typically conservative, prefer uniformity and are intellectually disinterested (Glass et al, 2013). Since this trait entails creativity, intellectualism, and a tendency for exploring new ideas, it has been found to be correlated with users' personality and social media use (Correa, Hinsley, & de Zuniga, 2010). Specifically, it will investigate whether there is a connection between particular personality traits. The data for the experiment was collected using a questionnaire. There were a total of 28 participants in this experiment, with 10 males and 18 females. The participants had to state their gender and what sport they play. Participants were required to indicate their response by circling the rating on the scale of 1 to 5 that mostly represents what they thought their personality traits were. Rating 1 and 2 related to the trait presented on the left and rating 4 and 5 related to the trait presented on the right. All participants were given an anonymous number which they used to record their results again on the data record sheet with the rest of the classes results. An average of each participant's results for the Big Five's personality traits was then calculated. In the study "personality traits and mental health of severe drunk drivers in Sweden", 162 Swedish DUI offenders of all ages were studied to find links in psychological factors and characteristics. There are a wide variety of characteristics common among DUI offenders which are discussed, including: "anxiety, depression, inhibition, low assertiveness, neuroticism and introversion". Literature review and Research Questions Research has illustrated that athletic competition has a strong influence on psychological development, impacting an individual's formation in areas such as self–esteem, body image and overall well–being (Anshel, 2000; Findlay & Bowker, 2007; Haugen, Safvenbom & Ommundsen, 201; Peden, Stiles, Vandehey & Diekhoff, 2008). A large sector of this research has specifically analyzed the outcomes of negative experiences within athletics, especially those high in stress and therefore resulting in potentially detrimental consequences for athletes. A major source of stress within athletics is due to potential and veritable athletic injuries due to overuse, during–game accidents and other competition /training related afflictions (Hanson, McCullagh & Tonymon, 1992). Approximately 3–5 million injuries occur due to athletics each year (Smith, Smoll & Ptacek, 1990), and the prevalence of such injuries suggests that the trauma experienced could pose a significant threat to athletes, both physically and psychologically, a phenomenon that warrants further investigation. For the past 30 years or so, research has evaluated the manner with which people handle stressful situations, which include athletic injury, and across the literature it has been consistently and reliably found that people vary in the manner with which they express well–being across stressful life events (Carver, Scheier & Weintraub,1989; DeLongis & Holtzman, 2005; Smith, Smoll & ... • 33. The Five-Factor Personality Inventory The research used the Five–Factor Personality Inventory (FFPI) to contribute to the validity of it, in three different aspects: generalizability and reliability, construct validity, and predictive validity. Overall, 249 participants, 120 males and 129 females, were separate into three different sample groups. The first sample consisted of 23 psychology students who completed the self–ratings. Each of the 23 students was asked to contact five people who knew them well; this made the second sample. The second sample was asked to rate themselves and the person who contacted them. Each member of the second sample was asked to contact a friend that did not belong to the first nor second sample. The third sample of 115 were asked to rate the person ... • 35. Materials . Signal Detection Task. A 25-Minute Signal... Materials Signal Detection Task. A 25 –minute signal detection task was used in this study. E–Prime software (version 1.1; Psychology Software Tools, Inc, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) was used to run the task. This task is designed to assess individual's tendency of regulating their behaviors based on prior reinforcements and is validated in several studies (Bogdan & Pizzagalli, 2006; Pizzagalli, Jahn, & O'Shea, 2005; Pizzagalli, Iosifescu, Hallett, Ratner, & Fava, 2008). It began with a 500ms presentation of an asterisk, followed by a mouthless cartoon face. Then, either a long (13mm) or short (11.5mm) mouth will be presented for 100ms. Participant were asked to determine whether a short or a long mouth was presented on the previously... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The PID–5 (Krueger) is a questionnaire that includes 220 items rated on a 4 point Likert format of response scale (0 for very false or often false and 3 for very true or often true). This inventory is used to assess the symptoms as proposed in DSM–5 traits. The PID–5 comprises of 25 primary trait scales that reflects onto 5 higher order dimensions of Negative affectivity, Detachment, Psychoticism, Antagonism and Disinhibition (Krueger et al., 2011). With the exception of 17 (approximately 8%) items that will be reverse coded, other items were summed, and an average score for each facet and domains were calculated. Reliability of the PID–5 have been demonstrated in several studies. Adequate internal consistency for all PID–5 domain and trait levels were obtained, as all PID–5 facet scales have Cronbach's alpha values that were greater than 0.70 while all PID–5 domain scales have Cronbach's alpha values that were greater than 0.90 (Fossati, Krueger, Markon, Borroni, & Mafel, 2013). The replicability of the inventory were also validated when Fossati et al. administered the PID–5 in two independent samples (2013). In this study, the PID–5 is administered along with other measures. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). • 36. Myths And Myths Of Vampires Essay My entire life I have believed in the Supernatural world and all the myths that have been around for thousands of years. My favorite myths are about Vampires, Werewolves, and all the Greek and Roman Myths. I believe in the supernatural because, it's something different then what happens in your everyday life. I like to think that there 's more to life than what people tell you and there's still a lot of the world that hasn't been discovered yet, so who know's what actually out there and what's not. I believe in a lot of the myths about Vampires, because a lot of them are the same. In all the myths Vampires can live forever, only a few things can kill them and they drink blood. The only difference in the myths are can sunlight hurt them or not , in a few myths it is said that vampires can die or lose most of their abilities if the go outside during the day. But, some myths say that if a Vampire feeds within a 24 range out going outside they will be fine but only for a few hours. There's a lot of myths about Vampires like who they are, how they act, and what they look like. I think about all the myths and believe in most of what they say, because the myths have never been proven wrong or never been proven right. There's not a lot of different myths about Werewolves, but I think that they're one of the coolest creatures to hear stories about. Some stories say that the person can transform their whole body into a wolf, but some of the new legends are that only part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Creativism a Constant Company of Humans Throughout History As Carl Gustav Jung wisely stated, there is a certain fascination with regard to creativity. Creativity expresses itself in many different forms, shapes, sizes, colours and sounds. It is a concept difficult to grasp as it is broad. However most people would think of themselves as being able to judge who and what is actually creative. But what exactly is "creativity"? Amible (1983) defines creativity as the production of ideas, insights and also products that are both, original and adaptive. Originality in this context refers to novelty of an idea and adaptation to the appropriateness. This is the definition predominantly used in creativity research (Sternberg & Lubart 1999; Simonton & Damian,2013) and is therefore used in this paper as well. In historical terms, creativity was a constant accompanist of human kind. We had to change the environment, and invent tools according to our needs in order to survive. Thus, creativity is a universal occurrence in all cultures (Simonton & Ting, 2010). However, which idea is assumed to be original and appropriate, so considered to be creative, depends strongly on context and time (Njistad et al., 2010). As stated by Nijstad et al. (2010) the work of Vincent van Gough is a good example of a different perception of creativity in different times. When Van Gough died he was a poor man but his works are sold for millions today. Similar is the example of the French post–impressionist artist Paul Gauguin who was not well appreciated until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emotional Stability is where you are able to keep calm at times of peer pressure and stress. Overall I felt that my group was fair on emotional stability. I felt some of my group had it and some did not. When we all introduced ourself to each other Rick and Joely were very relaxed and calm while talking and this happened throughout the whole minute that we each had to talk. I know that they thought I was really relaxed because Ricky and Erika told me that I was very relaxed when I spoke to my group. Also another reason I felt that they thought I was emotionally stable was when I told them I was still in high school and taking high school classes they freaked out and started to make jokes about me not stressing out such as: ''How are you not losing hair from all those classes?'' or ''How are you not going crazy?'' 2) Extraversion: I feel that my group thought I did very good in the extraversion trait. I was able to talk for the whole minute. I talked about some of my hobbies and about my family also. They did not seem to get bored or uninterested when I was talking. For example when I told them about how I like to go snowboarding on the weekends they all nodded their heads and made small comments such as; "cool'' or ''nice.'' 3) Conscientiousness: Overall I feel that my group thought I did lousy on this trait. While I was talking I paused all lot to think about on what I was going to say next and when I said I feel they thought I was careless on what I had to say. • 39. Freud 's Theory Of Psychosexual Stages Of Development And... Abstract Freud's theory of psychosexual stages of development and Costa and McCrae's Five Factor model were compared to assess the personality of a woman named Judy, experiencing difficulty in her primary relationships and day to day functioning. The main purposes of the study is to explain how each theorist would assess Judy's behavior and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and further the differences and any similarities found. The key strength of Costa and McCrae's model was providing a detailed and structured analysis of personality that is scientifically based however was limited in explaining the origin of Judy's personality. Freud's observational method using the Rorschach has little scientific evidence however his theory did provide explanations for how Jane's personality developed. While there were many differences some similarities were also found with the most interesting that final assessments were similar, with a possible same diagnosis which indicated that even across two every different theories and theorists there is agreement in how personality is ultimately assessed. Compared Personality Assessment using Freud's Psychosexual Stages theory and Costa and McCrae's Five Factor Model In assessment of this case study about Judy, Costa and McCrae's trait theory and Freud's psychoanalytic theory will be considered and compared. Personality assessment's purpose is to identify, define and measure important characteristics using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. College Majors: A Qualitative Study Silvia and Nusbaum (2012) set out to determine if college majors are an indicator of creativity. They classified the majors of 384 undergraduate students as arts majors or conventional majors and compared creativity measures to form an odds ratio of being an arts major. Personality traits, creative achievements, and music preference were the aspects explored. Undergraduates were assessed in two samples with multiple measures. The first sample of 188 undergraduates were given the Big Five Aspect Scales (BFAS), the Creative Achievement Questionnaire (CAQ), the Creative Behavior Inventory (CBI), and the Biographical Inventory of Creative Behavior (BICB). The second sample of 196 undergraduates were evaluated with the NEO Five–Factor Inventory (NEO–FFI) and the Short Test of Music Preferences (STOMP).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personality traits measured in the BFAS had two significant predictors, openness and enthusiasm. The overall largest odds ratio, 13.66, was from openness measured in the first sample. Also from the first sample, the odds ratio for enthusiasm was 2.36. The CAQ, CBI, and BICB were combined into one creative achievement score that resulted in an odds ratio of 8.51, the second highest predictor from both samples. The second sample also revealed openness to experience, from the NEO–FFI, as a significant predictor to having an arts major. The odds ratio was 6.91. Reflective and complex music preferences, which include the genres classical, jazz, blues, and folk, had an odds ratio of 2.30. The remaining variables within these measures did not have significance. Per Silvia and Nusbaum (2012), "the findings suggest that students' majors offer interesting information about individual differences related to creativity" (p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Reflection On Professionalism Being a professional is more than having fancy attire, carrying an Italian leather briefcase or using complex linguistics. Professionalism can be described as conduct, or qualities that are foreseen as professional. Professionalism is a learned trait that is taught by a person or learned through experiences. For me, personally, I will reflect on my ethical and personal professionalism and the innate journey it has taken me thus far. For myself, in particular, I will travel through my experience. I venture through the encounter of being taught the art of professionalism, the discussion of being a professional in counseling, to the development of being a professional. During the developmental stage I choose to explore the topics of interferences that would negatively influence my work in the profession, and idiosyncrasies that would perpetuate positive impact. Let's begin from the being of my endeavors in the professional realm. I first learned how to be a professional from an early age from my mother. She bestowed the wisdom of professionalism and modeled how professional women should represent themselves. I would say that my mother gave me the foundation and framework on how to represent myself as a professional black woman in the medical and mental health field. Relating back to my opening statements, I believe that my general experience in the work field also at a young age shaped my professionalism. At 16–years–old I was forced to learn; the chain of command, conflict resolution, and mannerism in a profession, a few ethical guidelines and the potency of time. Foreseeing my experience, most recently, working in a residential behavioral health facility presented me with an incredible amount of knowledge. The experience I gathered with the mental health field exhibited how large of a grey area there is. Additionally, the quotes "It depends." and "It's very technical." are answers I must grow accustom to. The fact that I was able to work hand–and–hand with a therapist who had extraordinary acquaintance with the field transmitted a vast amount of insight. The therapist I accompanied communicated life lessons and demonstrated the professional role with expertise. I was stunned by the way she could build rapport ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
