2. ZARA
Zara portray themselves as high-end which is clear
from their advertisements and the way they set them
out. The brand uses they’re simple and clean-cut logo
in the corner of any of their advertisements and this is
the only text that is used in the majority of them. No
prices are used as most commonly their clothing can
be on the higher end of the price scale. The audience
ranges from around 18 and upwards as they offer the
latest fashion trends and also a children’s wear range
which shows the kind of audience they appeal to. The
advertisements are all about quality and the look of the
brand as they ensure they keep the adverts clean and
crisp with generally no distractions. For example in the
bottom two images they have used a plain navy blue
background and a stool, showing the simplistic look
they aim for. They have also used a black and white
effect on the top which just shows they are more about
the look of the brand rather than trying to win people
over with cheap prices. It gives the look of a shot for
photography purposes rather than for a clothing advert
due to the lack of colour. This would be much less
likely in a lower end clothing store as they want you to
see exactly what the clothes look like and try and draw
in more customers this way.
3. MISSGUIDED
Missguided are on the lower end of the market as they
price things reasonably low and constantly have cheap
deals which they always advertise in order to attract as
many customers as possible. They aim at a young
audience basing it around teens and young adults.
They have recently been taking their images in this
Polaroid style which again shows the target audience
and using a Polaroid camera recently became a craze
especially within teens so this kind of advertising is
really going to appeal to their target audience. They
have used pastel colours again linking to the filtered
effect a Polaroid commonly gives and used a pink
background associating it once again with a largely
female audience. They always have the prices on their
adverts as this is one of the main factors that draws in
their audience as they are aiming at students who are
potentially having to way for university fees for
example so aren’t going to be wanting to spend a lot of
money on clothes. This advert in comparison to Zara’s
is much more focused around price rather than quality
as there’s much more on the page and the price has
been put in bold and slightly larger than the other font.
4. Yves Saint Laurent
YSL are a designer brand so their adverts are very
simplistic regarding text as the only text they involve
in these adverts are they’re brand name. This is put
quite large which draws attention and shows their
audience immediately what brand it is. They have
shown their location from the advertising shoot which
appears to be abroad, continuing the theme of high
end. They never include the price on their
advertisements and only ever focus on the photography
and their brand name. The fact that they are abroad on
the shoot gives connotations of wealth and expensive
clothing which completely links with the brand. YSL
definitely focus their advertising around quality which
you can see by the standard of the photography, they
also commonly get celebrities to be the face of the
brand for some of their campaigns showing the quality
once again. In comparison to high street brand this is
extremely different as it is made very clear of the type
of brand they are.
5. H&M
H&M are a high street brand and have always included
the price of their products on all of their adverts as
they know their audience and that this works well with
their brand. With each advert they use this black
simplistic font with the name of the product and the
price. The only other text they sometimes use is their
brand name but it isn’t used on all of their
advertisements. This advert is very simplistic as they
have used a white background which is very common
with this brand, they have also got the model only
dressed in the coat bringing all the attention to this
item of clothing and the price that is next to it. This
brand is very affordable and targets a young audience
which is the reasoning behind this. Due to the young
audience and the
