2. Existing ProductJustin Escalona is a YouTuber who makes a
documentary style Vlog everyday, he calls his videos
daily docs. His videos are really well put together and
they are really good quality. He uses a Sony a7s mkii
with a 3 access gimbal to stabilise his footage, he edits
all his videos in final cut pro x, he has a friend that
helps him make his videos he’s called Nick they both
run a company called 1340 studios. Justin colour
corrects his videos slightly to make the images look
brighter and as if the day looked better than what it
actually is for example he makes the sky more blue to
make it seem like a brighter day. During his videos he
adds little cinematic sequences to change up the pace
of the video and to show where he is in a little more
detail. While he is doing these he adds the letter box
effect and puts some of the clips in slow motion and
some sped up to fit with the choice of song he has
used. Justin’s audience is attracted to his videos
through his thumbnails and drawing in titles, this
makes them want to find out what has happened. His
videos have a good look as they show off LA well and
shows the audience LA though his eyes. He uses long
shots, mid shots, establishing shot, dolly zoom shots,

Gqthe1st or Javier is a photographer who has just
started to make YouTube videos, he has a very unique
style where he adds his photography into his videos,
he will film the place he is at on video then add in the
photo he took of that area. He shoots on a Nikon
D71000. The photos he takes are quite flat images and
they don’t tend to have a lot of colour going on in
them. He adds bmxing into his videos with some slow
motion to show of some of the tricks he does. he uses
time lapses in his videos and cinematic sequences to
make the video more ascetically pleasing. He colour
corrects his video to add more colour to the video and
to also brighten the image. He aims his videos toward
the photography genre as his videos are of him going
on photo shoots. Gq draws his audience in with his
photography and with images of a more popular bmx
vlogger john hicks who shouts out Gq quite a bit in his
videos as they are together most days. But he also
draws people in with his creative thumbnails. GQ has
a very unique style and shows off LA the way he sees
it and shows them LA from above. He uses long shots,
mid shots, close-ups.

• What would you like to see in a Vlog?
• Comedy it cant be boring, if your going to vlog you have to be adventurous and
exciting other wise what's the point in doing daily videos and showing what you do
when you don’t do anything. Another thing is different I like to see differences, it
has to be different form everyone else’s vlogs because you get people coping
others ideas and videos and that’s just boring to watch so its good to see
something different.
• Would you like a Vlog based at the skatepark?
• There okay I guess, most of the time they end up been similar.
• What type of music would u prefer to be in a Vlog?
• Chilled out music that makes you feel good after listening to it.

comical effect that keeps you engaged with the video, they don’t
want it like you standard vlog they want it to stand out from
everyone else. They want a fast paced vlog which covers a variety of
shots and subjects.

and make my video funny and engaging by adding in the scooter
riding and photography they wanted to see in the survey and I will
also add chilled out music that makes you feel good to makes you
happy while you watch my content. Which is the same as other
vloggers that I have researched.

Social Status

• My project is aimed towards people who
can afford the equipment and people who
enjoy watching this content.
25. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and
weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• The product research was good because it aloud me to find out what worked well in the
production I wanted to do and to see what was out there and how I can stand out from
what everyone else was doing. The survey is Quantitative as it give me a quantity of
results from my audience which allows me to work on what my audience want me to do.
Qualitative some of the worded questions were not as detailed as others so I wasn’t able
to get the information I wanted out of some of the people. I could fix this by using more
detailed questions.
– Questionnaires
• Found out what a wide variety of people wanted to see in my video and how I can use that to
work when I do my video. Also it shows the age group I am working towards so don’t get age
restricted. I got 10 responses for my questionnaire but I could have got more in a larger age
range other than the main age range I was aiming at.
– Interviews
found out what 2 people wanted to see and got more information on what would be good to
watch in a video and the type of music they want and how long they want it. All the main this that I
needed to know to make the video the best to fit my audience so they would keep engaged and watch all
the video. I think that some of the responses I got back wasn’t good enough I could have added more
specific questions to get a better response.
26. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
I got a positive response from my audience witch helped me
understand what to add to my content and what would work
well and what would keep my audience engaged. This will
allow me to make the best content I can to fit my audience.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a
disadvantage
• I added a positive and negative responses to the survey so if they didn’t
watch YouTube or like the survey they were aloud to put a negative
response like the survey is pointless. This was an advantage as it aloud me
to get a verity or responses to find out what my audience liked and what
they didn’t like. A disadvantage of my survey was that I didn’t make it so
you could press more than one on some questions that would have
probably changed my results if I did that. Next time I would allow more
than one box to be clicked on the multiple choice questions.
