  3. 3. Key Messages (2) Technology is having a very disruptive effect on education Digital Natives are born into a technological society Teachers are no longer the “experts” Students will learn together by exploring and sharing Teachers will become coaches, guides and mentors
  4. 4. Traditional Teaching Models In traditional teaching models, teachers are the experts whose job is to transfer their knowledge and wisdom to their students.
  5. 5. Digital Natives Children are born into a technological society and learn naturally by exploring, interacting and playing. Children develop multi-tasking skills very early

  9. 9. Virtual Classroom Technology The internet has revolutionised education by making information and knowledge accessible from anywhere in the world and there are many free on-line education courses available on many different subjects
  10. 10. Mooc – Massive Open Online Course Massive Open Online Courses are very big virtual classrooms in which students have access to the best teachers and the best content in the world
  11. 11. Community Radio Virtual Classroom Radio and Mobile telephones can be combined with the internet to share knowledge
  12. 12. Virtual World Classroom Virtual Worlds are virtual classrooms in 3D that create rich experiences for students

  15. 15. The Future of Education Technology Every child is born with a desire to explore and learn and technology can help but human beings play a vital role in acting as guides and mentors
  16. 16. The Future Internet of Things Technologies which measure and assess performance will have a big impact on education and provides a great opportunity to combine learning with personal health management and citizenship. This can help to create a sustainable future for mankind.
