DISCUSSION REPLY 1:
Life, family, graduation, marriage, career, and retirement, are
the events that individuals have the right and freedom to
experience. Unfortunately, someone that is not qualified,
conditioned, or experienced in the handling and operating a
firearm, takes either one or several lives for no reasons

whatsoever. Gun violence in Chicago has risen to an
all-time high. There was a week which reported 14 shot in a 15
hour period (Grenoble, 2015). Law makers, law enforcement,
political leaders, congress, and community agencies need to
stand together in acquiring stricter gun laws, to prevent less
innocent lives being taken. Guns and people alike kill children
and innocent bystanders: how many lives would a simple
psychiatric history check save, and which is more important,
saving face or lives? We must either change the process of
possessing a gun, create stricter gun laws, or conduct more
funerals than weddings.
According to KU writing center (2015), there are many
effective writing techniques that will assist in preparing an
effective introduction paragraph. I chose to use “Establish the
Issue” technique for my introduction. This technique C Vgave
the introduction an opportunity to express the topic, present
crucial background information that will give my statements
clarity, and a precise place for my thesis.
In closing, the government has tried to limit
ammunition, monitor how many firearms are being sold to the
same individuals, and other tactics that have obviously had no
effect on the innocent deaths caused by guns. There needs to be
a substantial change within the legal realm of the purchase and
operation of a firearm, which will consists of law makers,
community agencies, churches, Gcjongress, the national rifle
association, and families of victims of gun violence, come
together to resolve their differences. When this step has been
accomplished, they can create an effective plan of action to
begin the process of saving the lives of our youth and innocent
bystanders to gun violence. This plan would include a
psychiatric evaluation for any potential gun applicant, stricter
consequences to gun offenses, larger law enforcement presence,
and community groups banding together to take their
neighborhoods back.

DISSCUSSION REPLY 2:
Introduction
Communities across America are truly being effected by all of
the political and economic cut backs. Cutting back on fare
wages, affordable housing, health care and scholarships for
continuing education. Thus leading to an increase of violence
amongst residents. Drug and gang activities, have replaced
modern family values of a well structured family unit.
Therefore creating a sense of achievement of overcoming an
epidemic of drugs, mortality rates and gang violence.
Conclusion:
Realizing the problem of drugs and gangs, is not just in
minority neighborhoods anymore, politicians are now
beginning campaigns on cleaning up our streets. Middle class
and upper class residents, with their voices and finances have
partnered with many organizations on tackling the increased
violence that have now migrated to their communities. Carrie
Johnson reported As Gangs Move to New York Suburbs so does
crime. Latin kings, bloods and other gangs have plagued
suburban city leaving residents unease. Increased mortality
rates from the spread of drugs, and gangs violence will not only
destroy our communities, but our country on a whole. Johnson C
(2010).
The reason for me choosing this topic and the sources that I
choose, it to let America see the violence, drugs and gangs do
not discriminate on were they spread their poison. Taking back
our communities should be top priority and restructuring it for a

greater change.
