Cyber Criminals Are Faceless And Cybercrimes
Cyber criminals are faceless and cybercrimes are now easier and safer for criminals to troll the
internet for unsuspected victims without leaving the comfort of their own home. According to a
Police Executive Research Forum report (PERF, 2014), local law enforcement are struggling with
responses to cybercrimes; Chief Charles McClelland of the Houston policedepartment told PERF,
unfortunately, we haven t properly prepared our officers to handle cybercrime calls (p.20).
Cybercrimes are not limited to credit card frauds, scams, human trafficking, or cyber bullying, but
also involves attacks on national infrastructures to terrorism plots on a larger scale. The post 911
investigation revealed that the internetplayed a key role in the attacks, from planning to coordinating
to executing the cowardice acts. As a law enforcementorganization, we are facing a new breed of
criminals criminals with no faces or names and our task is to bring them to justice. There is a lack
of knowledge in the cyber world, which the police culture does not fully comprehend. In order to
level the playing field, we must improve IT knowledge through education, commit funding to
promulgate cybercrimes units, and collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to create a
team of teams. The internet is largely unregulated, therefore, those who are most familiar with it
will dominate the virtual world. There is hope, although cybercrimes are committed via the internet,
there is an operator

Persuasive Essay On Decriminalizing All Drugs
We all have an interest in making sure teens grow up healthy and drug free. John Walters Would
you like to live in a safer, drug free community? I do and here is how to start: by decriminalizing
all drugs! Since Richard Nixon coined the phrase War on Drugs in 1971, America has failed
miserably to reduce the consumption and traffic of illicit drugs from outside our borders. Although
a heavy portion are against decriminalizing drugs because of short term consequences and health
concerns in public communities, Portugal s evident sixteen year experience with drug
decriminalization has proven otherwise with significant, long term positive outcomes. However,
due to the long lasting and persuasive positive outcomes of decriminalization, it is vital that the
U.S. strongly reconsiders the prohibitionof all drugs for the health and economic benefit of our
communities. Obviously, there will be short term consequences but also benefits too.
Unfortunately, the hype of decriminalizing drugs will cause an increase in the number of users but
it is important to note that a considerable amount of those being newly documented are closet
junkies finally being revealed. As Dr. Caitlin Hughes, a member of the Drug Policy Modelling
Program of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre puts it, Portuguese decriminalization
did not lead to major increases in drug use. Indeed, evidence indicates reductions in problematic
use, drug related harms and criminal justice overcrowding (Hughes; Stevens). As this research
shows, the predictions on Portugal s well being after the decriminalization of all drugs were
incorrect and the complete opposite occurred creating healthy and safer communities because of
awareness. Bringing our attention back to the increasing number of users within the hype years,
public safety is a large concern where communities will have a difficult time adapting to the new
policy and becoming accustomed to a new culture and lifestyle. On the contrary, I find a few years
of craziness to be minimal in comparison to the long term achievement that this law intends to
achieve. Portugal has proved that decriminalization reduces drug use, drug related harms, and
criminal justice overcrowding. JoГЈo GoulГЈo,

My I Decided For A Teacher
The day I decided that I wanted to be a teacher I pictured myself choosing my favorite books and
having thoughtful discussions. I imagined my students would enjoy the many activities we
completed and at the end of the unit they would take a test and we would move on to the next
topic. I was unaware of what the field of educationwould actually entail. I soon learned that
teaching was nothing like what I imagined. I didn t realize that my teachers made teaching a
classroom full of student look easy because they used several techniques. They realized that they
must take into account not only what they are teaching (content), but also whom they are teaching
(individual students) (Corley, 2007). As I ve learned more about my field I have realized that
teaching involves providing the best education to students based on their ability to learn. When you
understand that this is what teaching is about, you try practices that will make your instruction
stronger. Differentiation is one way to make sure that all learners gain the education they deserve.
Learning Plan When planning any lesson, I always consult the standards to determine what students
must know and be able to do. The standard for this lesson states, Students analyze, make inferences
and draw conclusions about persuasive text and provide evidence from text to support their
analysis. Students are expected to: evaluate the merits of an argument, action, or policy by
analyzing the relationships (e.g.,

2.1 Initial condition
Channel 4 has two studios located in Sydney and Melbourne and four free to air television channels
(channel4, C4forKids, WOW and QTV). In addition, channel 4 has three types of video contents:
InProd content is edited by Channel 4 and finished product is sent as SDI streams to be stored in
the digital media center, via Studio Router.
ExProd content is provided to Channel4 on solid state media as a digitized video file. These files
are stored in the Digital Media center until required.
Live Video Feed is live news and programs to broadcast directly to Australia.
The existing Studio Router takes SDI/ASI input and assign it to many outputs such as MPEG
Encoder, Video output, Satellite Uplink or Digital Video Network (DVN) to Media Hub.
There are three DVN that transfer MPEG Encoded videos either from Digital Media Center or live
Video from a News Studio to the Media Hub (Figure 1).

Impact Of Technology On Society With Businesses And Schools
Most people believe that technologies is the master mind in this world. Without technology humans
cannot be able to master things through businesses and schools. Technology is destroying humanity
and it has been a major thing in people lives. Humans realized that technology can cause many
problems throughout their lives and can lead to be humiliation. Yet, humans using technologyhas
been noticed in articles, movies, play, and books. Technologies has a big impact in today s society
with businesses and schools.
Also according to Melvin Seeman, alienation can be categorized into five dimensions: powerless,
meaninglessness, normlessness, social isolation and self estrangement (783). The five types of
alienation caused by technology threaten human existence and are embedded in culture and
societal norms. Power is the ability of controlling others, and the opposite of power is powerless,
which means a lack of strength or absence of power (Seeman 784). Someone who has been through
this powerlessness experience may feel out of control and has no way of trying to regain control.
According to Karl Marx, meaninglessness refers to the state of being without meaning and values
of labors in the work process.
Therefore, going into the meanings of the five dimensions of alienation. Alienation means that
separation of individuals from society. Which means that it is a lack of trust in one s social or
physical environment or oneself. Powerlessness is a lack of strength or absence of power.

The Yellow Wallpaper, By William Faulkner
In a struggle to retain what they believe is tangible, two very different, yet so analogous women
are introduced in the diverse domains produced by two authors. The first, Charlotte Gilman s The
Yellow Wallpaper, where the narrator is a woman from an upper middle class upbringing who s
taken to a house by her husband for their summer vacation where she begins to feel confined and
the later, William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, where Emily is the daughter of an influential man
who does become confined to her house after her father passes away. Although their stories are
written by two very different people, the women share an eerie resemblance as they begin to fall
into an insanity driven by fixation. To explore and understand these connections, one must look into
themes and symbolisms to further magnify the foundation of their stories. The initial similarity
between both women is their state of being alone in love. After all, the narrator in The Yellow
Wallpaperfinds no comfort in her husband, although she attempts to convince herself that he
loves her, she also finds herself wishing him away stating I am glad my case is not serious! as it
would lead John to stay all night with her confining her even more that she already feels that she
is (958). Alternately, the reason Emily from A Rose for Emily is left alone in her house is due to
the fact that her sweetheart had abandoned her after her father had died, which contributed to her
state of isolation (715). It

Early Moorish Architecture In America
Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and Spanish
(Andalusian) Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was largely fantastical
rather than archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This type of architecture in
America was seen as very exotic and many of the buildings constructed in this style were non
traditional. The details of the early Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian,
Turkish, and Indian styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness
about Moorish Styles. During the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the Oriental
Style, while Asian styles were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style

Effect of an Increasing Substrate Concentration on Enzyme Activity Rate
Abstract
The reaction rate of an enzyme can be affected by many factors, and the purpose of this experiment
was to find out how an increasing substrate concentration influences the rate of an enzyme activity;
we obtained data from recording the absorbance of the samples which contain the same amount of
potato juice (enzyme oxidase) and different amount of catechol (substrate) while holding pH and
temperature constant. Our findings illustrate that the rate of enzyme activity is only influenced by
substrate concentration at low level of substrate concentration, and as substrate ... Show more

By looking at figure 1, we noticed that at higher initial substrate concentration, the absorbance
increased at a faster speed (for example, in figure 1, the slope of test tube 3 is greater than the
slopes of test tubes 1 and 2 in the first four minutes); and as time proceeded, the slope of each trial
decreased once passed a certain point and became a constant (slope=0) and eventually moved
toward a negative value (except for test tube 1).
Discussion
If we viewed the slopes of the trials from figure 1 as the rates of enzyme activity, our results could
be interpreted as the following: when in substrate concentration increased from a low
concentration(for example, from test tube 1 to test tube 2), the rate of the enzyme activity increased
with the increase in substrate concentration; but as the substrate concentration increased, the
enzyme activity reached a constant rate where all the enzymes were saturated(slope=0), and
increase in substrate concentration would have no effect on the activity rate. Also, the higher the
initial substrate concentration is, the faster the activity rate reached the constant(for example, test
tube 3 reached the constant rate 6

The Mystery Of The Jewel Birds
The Jewel Birds
Once there was a princess named Princess Ella. As she was walking in her palace gardens, she saw
a sign made out of gold and silver. It read, This way to Gold and Silver Orchard. Princess Ella
followed the arrow on the sign.
A little ways along the path, she came to another sign. It read, Keep following this path to get to
Gold and Silver Forest.
The princess wondered which path to take. What should I do? Princess Ella muttered to herself.
She decided to stay in the smaller Gold and Silver Orchard, and explore and enjoy herself while she
was there. Suddenly Princess Ella found that she was very tired, and she lay down to take a nap
under a shady tree. She slept for days!
When she finally woke up, she saw a big bird flying above her. She said to the bird, What a
beautiful bird. What is your name? What kind of bird are you? I ve never seen a bird like you here
before.
The bird replied to her, Oh, my name is SilverBird. My name comes from what I am made of. I am
made entirely from silver.
Oh what a beautiful name, said Princess Ella. My name is Princess Ella.
Princess Ella had a very lovely and very kind little sister called Princess Olivia. She missed her
sister since she had been in Gold and Silver Orchard for days. So Princess Ella took out her cell
phone, thinking Princess Olivia would very much love to see this beautiful place. She called her
little sister, and asked her to come.

The Unrealistic Expectations Of I Want A Wife By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay I Want A Wife (1971), she presents the unrealistic expectations of a wife.
Brady presents her idea with repetition of I want a wife.. expectations from the husbands to the
wives, over statements and with rhetorical questions. Brady exaggerates a husband s expectations
for the wives in order to persuade the audience to believe wives are mistreated and overlooked by
their husbands. Brady addresses both husbands and wives in her essay by bringing attention the
husbands and the mistreatment of the wives. Additionally, she also brings attention to their wives
and the abuse they re facing. Throughout the majority of Brady s essay she uses repetition of the
phrase I want a wife.. . The phrases all describe the high and unrealistic expectations that a wife
must do to make her husband satisfied. Many of the expectations are similar to those of a
caretaker, nurse, and slave. When Brady states When I meet people at school that I like and want to
entertain, I want a wife who will have the house clean, will prepare a special meal, serve it to me
and my friends and not interrupt when I talk about things that interest me and my friends. , it shows
that a wife, in this instance, is much like a slave who obeys the dominant power in the household.

of the expectations, who wouldn t want a wife? Brady s exaggeration still brings attention to her
audience as some of the exaggerations may apply to the wives lives who are mistreated and may

Creative Class
In the past few decades the global economy has undergone a fundamental shift. The
characteristics of the economy have shifted to favor an information based economy in which
technology plays the largest role in the production process. This has come at the expense of the
characteristics of the Fordist system, such as a large class of manufacturing workers in the
American midwest. The rise of the creative class is part of the same transition that is responsible
for the demise of the American worker. The transition from Fordism to knowledge based
capitalism has seen the majority of manufacturing jobs replaced by automation. The displacement
stemming from automation as well as resentment for the lucrative creative class sparked the rise
of populist candidates in 2016. Richard Florida s commentary The Creative Class and Economic
Development focuses on the rise of what he refers to as the creative class. The rise of the creative
class has been a result of the transition of the global economyaway from Fordism to an information
based system. As a result, the most lucrative jobs are jobs in knowledge intensive industries that
involve the production of new ideas or products, or that engage in creative problem solving.
Additionally, Florida places heavy emphasis on the economic development of place.... Show more

President Trump s base is composed primarily of working class people who have experienced
economic turmoil for years. This turmoil is due in large part to the loss of manufacturing jobs to
increasing automation. The lack of jobs in the previously prosperous midwest coupled with the
prosperity of the new centers of the creative economy has led to working class resentment of the
coastal elite. The Democratic establishment has come to be seen as negligent to the concerns of
working people, fueled by resentment of the elite s snobbery and moral

The Narrative Of The Life Of Fredrick Douglass
Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom. These words once said by George
Washington Carver align well with the ongoing theme of education versus ignorance throughout
The Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass. His life can be split in two: ignorance and
education, before and after, darkness and light whatever classification you choose it is irrefutable
that education changed his life and there is a clear delineation, a marked difference. The period of
Fredrick s life that can be filed under ignorance is the time predating his move to Baltimore.
Before the move Fredrick although a child was for all intents and purposes just like all the other
uneducated slaves, stuck in a oppressive cycle of ignorance. And this was the slaveholder s intent,
keeping slaves ignorant perpetuated the system.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fredrick goes on to describe all the terrible afflictions of a slave and the severe lack of justice
and he said, ...no matter how unjust, the slave must never utter a word. Slaveholders didn t want
their slaves to have a voice or an opinion, because to them slaves were just like animals with no
free will and no soul. Slaveholders didn t want their slaves to show opposition in actions and
neither in words because words are powerful, because God forbid the slave says something that
stirs someone s conscience, and makes them think twice about their deplorable behavior.
Furthermore it would be some sort of blasphemy for a slave to be literate, in fact many white
people didn t know how to read and write so why should a slave? Especially when it could lead to
potential mutiny. Slaves that knew how to read and write were more dangerous than the most
rebellious leave. No impulsive outbursts instead well thought out ideas. This struck fear in the

T. E. Lawrence s Seven Pillars of Wisdom is the memoir of a British junior officer during the
Allied campaign against the Turks during the First World War. A remarkable work that remains
germane in the current operating environment, Seven Pillars was not the book that Lawrence
intended to write upon embarking on his adventures in southwest Asia. He had drafted a book on
seven great cities of the Middle East but lost his initial text prior to completion. As a tribute to this
work Lawrence maintained the title, which he derived from the Bible, Proverbs 9:1, Wisdom hath

Although untrained for his role in the Arab Revolt, Lawrence demonstrates a firm grasp of
Clausewitzian principles and their presence in the campaign. Writing while directed to bed rest,
Lawrence develops his text s arguably most significant chapter. In it he cautions strategists from
thinking in a linear manner while contending that one must holistically view the environment if one
is to succeed in shaping it. Lawrence describes this approach as the Algebraical element of things, a
Biological element of lives, and the Psychological element of ideas . He asserts that viewing events
through an algebraic lens enables him to encounter, known variables, fixed conditions, space and
time, inorganic things... with mankind in type masses too great for individual variety with all
artificial aids and the extensions given our faculties by mechanical invention. His ability to
comprehend his tactical means as a mathematical component of the strategic ends enabled fluidity
and tempo in Arab action while generating frustration in his enemy.
Lawrence interprets Maneuver Warfare by likening armies to firm rooted plants while the Arabs
were, a vapour, blowing where we listed. He advocated his forces be, an influence, an idea, a think
intangible, invulverable, without front or back, drifting about like a gas . Countering the
conventional wisdom of the time Lawrence viewed

Is Blanche Innocent Or Innocent
One`s Destiny Many people would say that Blanche is innocent and pure. However her lies and
difficult life experiences, it is proven that the way Blanche portrays herself is a pure show for the
others. The play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams portrays Blanche s dramatic
shift in beliefs, which through her encounters literally destroys her. Blanche originally grew up as
an innocent young girl, but life was just simply a tough journey encouraged this to change her and
cause her to become insane. Blanche s own actions is what lead her to her tragic downfall by the
end of the story, but many may consider Blanche a victim . Blanche s dramatic shift in beliefs,
which through her encounters, figuratively and literally destroys her. From the beginning, Blanche
considers herself to be innocent, but through many conflicts she begins to suffer and regress
mentally and physically.
Early on in the play Blanche Dubois was a wealthy, innocent, and beautiful young woman. After
experiencing the hardship of loss, these characteristics slowly but surely went away. The tragic
loss of Blanche s husband, Allan Grey, and her childhood home in Belle Reve is what caused a
turn of events in Blanche s innocent life. Blanche Dubois had never been able to relieve herself
from the guilt she feels due to the loss of her husband. Blanche is ultimately responsible for her

Disadvantages Of Subsidies
Question 1
a)Advantages of Subsidies
Reduces cost of production (Anon: 2014).
Recourses are released to be used for other resources, for example, expansion (increase in supply)
(Anon: 2014).
The firms competitive edge in terms of prices increases. Subsidies enables firms to cover their costs
without making their products unaffordable (Anon: 2014).
Disadvantages of subsidies
It is expensive and will require higher taxes (Xayaan: 2013).
The extent of the positive externality is difficult to estimate (Xayaan: 2013).
Giving subsidies to firms may encourage inefficiency, because the firms might rely on government
aid. The government may also have poor information about the service and how much it has to
subsidise (Xayaan: 2013).

Tariffs imposed on foreign goods and services may harm domestic manufacturers in the long run
because it often benefit one sector at the expense of the other (Buchanan, R: 2013).

goods, the increased prices and reduced trade prohibit individuals from all choices that could be
available in the market (Morelock, J: 2014).

Leadership Approach Paper – Behavioral Approach
Leadership Approach Paper
Organizations depend on the management and leadership skills of individuals in order to be
successful. Leaders do not have to be managers but are equally important. Leaders are individuals
who possess traits, behavior and abilities to influence others to accomplish tasks and other needed
objectives for the company. Leadership is defined as the ability of an individual to influence,
motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization. .
. . (House et al., 1999, pg. 184).

It is a not an easy task to change behavior, especially if a person is not interested in change. This
is approach seems to best fit my personal leadership approach. Looking back at my previous
employment as a financial associate at Boone County National Bank, I can relate to the
definition of the behavioral approach. I was always concerned about given tasks and people. My
behavior influenced others to follow and start behaving the same way I did. A great example is
the way I used to deal with my customers. I was friendly, concerned with their business and
ensured that they were well taken care of. By being concerned and open minded, I completed
sales and other branch needed tasks without pushing or forcing myself on someone. With a
combination of traits and behavior me and my colleagues made a great team and were able to
complete all tasks on time, efficiently and effectively as well as satisfy all of our customers and
managers. Looking back over the accomplishments of the branch I worked in as well as my

Understanding the difference between effective management and effective leadership is important.
Leaders are not always born leaders; they can be formed into leaders if that is what they want. All
five leadership approaches combined would form the perfect leader but each individual has special
traits and behaviors that can make one into a leader. The behavioral

Access Of Education During The Colonial Period
Access to education continued to be problematic even in the colonial time. Individuals with more
resources were able to access different books, journals and magazines. Should this really be the case
in America today? It is my hope the education continues to transform from the colonial times, with
growth in awareness of social economy statuses and awareness of the concerns of everyday citizens.
Even though, educationreform as continue to change with new leadership on the federal, state and
local levels some social and political injustices to access continue. It is vital that individuals in
power make changes by creating conditions and spaces where everyone has fair and equal
opportunity to access all books and other educational material.
Much of adult education in the early colonial period owe less to formal institutions, educational
or otherwise, than to everyday living (Stubblefield and Keane, 1994). In the colonial period,
communication or correspondence initially begin for commerce affairs, later it was used for
personal usage. Literature relevant to the lives of ordinary people development slowly, because
Harvard College housed the colonies only printing press for over three decade beginning in 1638
(Stubblefield and Keane, 1994). Harvard monopolized the production of almanacs by regularly
assigning the task to a young mathematician, who prepared scientific and theological publications
that sold for threepence (Stubblefield and Keane, 1994). The first newspaper was

Chaldean Culture Essay
My patient, A 35 year old first generation Chaldean American women, seemed a little reluctant to
answer some of my questions, regarding her culture. During several interactions with the patient,
she made minimum eye contact and gave a brief answer to my questions. When I asked my patient
what language she was fluent in, she glanced at me for a second and responded English . I later
learned that most modern day Chaldean American speak English, Aramaic, and Arabic the primary
language of the Iraqi nation. Many Chaldean speak Jesuslanguage , also known as Aramaic when
communicating among themselves, while others choose to speak English instead of their mother
tongue. This sparked my interest and I decided to do a little research to educate myself and this is
what I learned. Chaldean Americans are descendants of people from the northern Tigris Euphrates
valley, presently located in the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq.
Religion is of most importance in the Chaldean community. As members of the Roman Catholic
church, Chaldean follow the same rules and beliefs as other catholic. However, they have their own
leader, and the ritual used in their mass and other ceremonies, are different from those practiced in
western churches. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Police Abuse Of Power
Absolute power corrupts absolutely,is a saying that states that power tends to corrupt and that

Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology
Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products
or you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and
maybe a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny
of modern society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but
now owning a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft
are replacing taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost
everywhere around the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of
our lives does not mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still
have an ongoing debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting
society as a whole or not. Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this
new technological age expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will
change our world for the better both Kevin Kelly s Better than Human , Clive Thompson s
Smarter than You Think , as well as Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld s The Influencing
Machines explore. On the other hand, skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies
are tainting our own capabilities and making us more dependent rather than relying on our own
skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? . Although technology has
changed many aspects of our lives we should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many
aspects of our daily lives. One of the main concerns that people have in accordance to new
technological advances is how it affects our brains and how we think. Although I tend to be an
enthusiast when it comes to new cutting edge hardware or software I still agree with Carr on the
fact that technology may not be this great learning tool with no downsides that everyone hypes it
up to be. In fact, Carr had one thing that really struck me when he talked about how the style of
reading promoted by the Net, a style that puts efficiency and immediacy above all else, may be
weakening our capacity for [deep reading] (319). In

Why Surrogacy Is Wrong
Everyone has their own personal beliefs, values, morals and ethics regarding to surrogacy. For
instance, some may believe that surrogacy is wrong and that it exploits women while others
believe that surrogacy is a beautiful thing where a woman is able to give a gift of life to intended
parents who are unable to conceive. My personal beliefs are that surrogacyis perfectly fine and
people should be allowed to have access to surrogate services without being looked down upon.
For example, I believe that people should not say that surrogacy is wrong especially if they
themselves have not experienced infertility and even if they have, they should not relate their own
personal experiences with others since each person s life experience is unique... Show more content

Instead I would respect their wishes and support them with their journey of becoming parents
through the surrogacy process. Some of the values that a social worker may need when working
with couples wanting to access surrogacy services include acceptance, awareness, compassion,
friendliness and thoughtfulness. For instance, social workers must accept their clients wishes and
decisions as well as have awareness of what challenges their clients have been going through with
infertility. Also showing compassion, friendliness and thoughtfulness is important in order to
make clients feels at ease and comfortable with sharing personal details. Along with values, there
are also some important morals for social workers to have including being open minded where a
social worker is open to seeing and understanding different points of view including different ways
that one may go about surrogacy. Another important moral for a social worker to consider is
respecting autonomy where they respect the rights of individuals to live their lives the way they

Why the Bolsheviks Won the Civil War Essay
Why the Bolsheviks Won the Civil War The Russian Civil War raged from 1918 until the start of
1921. During this time the Bolsheviks faced massive opposition to their rule in the form of the
White Armies, led by the former officers of the Tsarist state, and also from intervention by the
forces of foreign countries. The Bolsheviks were surrounded, and often outnumbered by their
opponents, and had no experienced military commanders. At times, their situation seemed hopeless.
Yet, by the start of 1921, the Bolsheviks had defeated their enemies and gained a complete victory.

No one person was in charge of the White forces, whereas the Bolsheviks had Lenin, the Whites
had several rival people, such as Yudenich, Wrangel, Kolchak and Denikin vying for control. They
were all ambitious men and each was determined to take control of Russia for himself. As a result,
there was virtually no co operation between the various White Armies. They had to move their
forces and supplies over huge distances, making it difficult to maintain effective control. The lack
of effective railways was an added complication to the existing communication difficulties between
them. Whereas the Whites were disunited, the Bolsheviks maintained absolute unity through the
Terror. It was this skilled leadership of the Red Army, paired with the divided leadership of the
White Forces that was a key factor in the Bolsheviks winning the Civil War.
A second reason why the Bolsheviks won the Civil War was geography. In 1918, the start of the
Civil War, the Bolsheviks had the advantage of holding a central position between Petrograd and
Moscow (including their factories.) Most of Russia s railways were in this area, making
communication between various battlefronts much easier, Trotsky was able to move troops and

George Washington s Accomplishments
Cary Racioppi US History Bowler 9/16/14 Unit II Essay Prompt #1 Although George Washington
may not be exalted as a successful military leader when assessing number of wins; he is still, due
to his unremitting persistence and prudent tactics, such as strategic retreat, among those, such as
Napoleon, who are highly regarded when discussing renowned military leaders. One of the things
that makes a general memorable and considered successful today is determined by their
accomplishments and their endeavors to achieve these accomplishments. A main reason George
Washington is recognized today as a legendary general, is because, despite the unskilled army he
was provided, he managed to attain the pivotal goal for America; gaining its independence.
George Washington had a very well understanding of military power, and was forced to aid in
making an army of untrained farmers into an army of warriors. Over time, the army progressed, but

Importance Of Discourse Analysis
Discourse analysis is the variety of theoretical approaches and analytic emphases concerning the
studying and understanding of people s use of language mediums in social action and interaction.
This also applies to the development of capitalism and technology. Studies have opened doors to
these topics. Despite variation in theoretical approaches, all strands of discourse analysisshare a
strong social constructionist epistemology. With its roots largely embedded in linguistic
philosophy, ethnomethodology and speech act theory (Potter, 1987; Potter Wetherell, 1995).
Discourse analysis might be applied to qualitative data if a person were interested in
understanding how people s ideas and emotions are pieced together to form versions of reality of
the world around them, and how these accounts are played out in social action and interaction. This
is the model that the heads of this capitalistic state manipulate the common public. Further, it would
be useful if interests lay in exploring and understanding why people use different versions of
discourse in differing contexts, and under what conditions do variations arise. Specifically
discourse analysis might be utilized by those interested in exploring how powerful discourses, such
as racism, are constructed, practiced and normalized (Edley, 2001).
Discourse analysis s focus is rooted in three basic tenets: construction, function and variation (Potter,
1987). The assumption is that discourses are constructed through

Shakespeare And The World Of Hamlet
The world of Hamlet and the world of its playwright, William Shakespeare, are similar in many
aspects such as politics and the way women are treated. Another similarity of both worlds is the
education system. It is known that Prince Hamlet attends the University of Wittenberg as King
Cladius and Queen Gertrude are against Hamlets return to Wittenberg, stating that [i]t is most

Especially with that comparatively small population within Marietta in contrast with major cities,
fostering a positive relationship with the community and community organizations remains at the
pinnacle of importance. As Morgan describes that, the more ecological interpretations [of the
organism theory] stress the survival of the fitting , the ethic of collaboration receives much more
attention (Morgan 64).
In my own personal volunteering experience with the theatre, this idea of collaboration with other
community organizations could not be clearer than when the theatre hosted a holiday variety show
featuring the Marietta School District Music Department along with several local dance studios and
community bands. The symbiosis of the other organizations using the theatre s space and
volunteers to put on a show and the theatre bringing in the different acts to sell seats beautifully
shows the interdependence within this ecosystem . Viewing the organizations as an organism

The New Testament Of Jesus Christ The Savior
Starting in the years of Jesus Christ the savior, a parable is a widely used term in the Christian
religion. A parable is known as a story mainly used in the New Testament of Christianity. The
purpose of a parable is to portray some kind of moral meaning or to teach a lesson. This is
commonly done in the New Testament with a reading from one of the Apostles. These parables,
commonly found in the scriptures were usually told by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, four of
the apostles. The main focus was to illustrate a lesson of morals and values. A lot of these stories
told in the gospel are said to be simple, but create a visual image in the audience s head. Although
they may be simple to comprehend, the messages are very deep in meaning and are said to have
a spirituality to them. Even some of the shorter parables have been known to impact a person s
morality, but not as much extremity of the longer more in depth stories of the scriptures. One of
the most known parables, by Luke 10:25 67, is the reading of The Good Samaritan . It is very
deep and thoughtful in its meaning and can be seen as the top notch lesson in all of the scriptures.
It all started by a lawyer questioning Jesusto what he could do to be saved and earn salvation to the
holy land after death, being Heaven. Jesus being the figure he was, told the story known as The
Good Samaritan and what he would have to do. He started off by talking about a man who had

Dreams And Dreams Are Important Or Meaningless Essay
Dreams have been around since the beginning of time. There is often controversy over whether
or not dreams are important or meaningless. Although many people believe that dreams are
pointless and have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be
many different interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind
(Loftus Ketcham). Dreams can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to
confuse them with reality. Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions
and putting them all in a little shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is
common in all these dreams is obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day
which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A
person may be experiencing an emotion or wishing for something without even realizing it at all.
Dreams can sometimes show a person how they are truly feeling without even their own
awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s reality and emotions are used in their
dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be extremely bizarre, confusing, and
even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes into action. Many people find it
hard to believe that when they have a dreamover and over again that it does not mean anything.
These types of dreams are called recurring dreams. Recurring dreams happen

According to Rutledge (2010), in a 1949 opinion, the court said this about probable cause, The
rule of probable cause is a practical, nontechnical conception. In dealing with probable cause, we
deal with probabilities. These are not technical; they are the factual and practical considerations
of everyday life on which reasonable and prudent men, not legal technicians, act. Probable cause
exists where the facts and circumstances within the officers knowledge and of which they have
reasonably trustworthy information are sufficient in themselves to warrant a man of reasonable

reasons for a warrantless, which is when there is no need for a search warrant or even no
probable cause. These types of searches have become the most common in law enforcement. The
decision based on warrantless searches is based on the court s decision and the logic that there was
criminal suspicion to warrant the search. Many everyday searches that are warrantless, which we

The Importance of Drinking Water Essay
Drink Water Speech
How many of you, when you go to a restaurant and the waiter/waitress asks you what you want to
drink ask for water?
How many you would select a glass of water out a fridge filled with soda, fruit juices, or beer?
My guess is probably not very many you actually choose water over the other options.
I used to be the same way.
I used to never drink water, and would always choose another beverage if I had the option.
However, after I began to hear about the importance of water in our lives, I began to choose water
whenever I needed something to drink.
I am not saying I never have anything other than water when I am thirsty, but the majority of the
time I choose water over any other beverage.
Today, I plan to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So water is needed to dissolve these nutrients and be carried throughout the body.
As you can see, water plays a major role in many factors of your body.
Water even can help produce benefits outside of your body as well, such as your wallet.
For example, when you go to a restaurant and order a soda, that is usually at least $2.
You could instead choose water, which is free.
If you would also choose water when you go out to eat and save the $2, you would save a decent
amount of money in a year.
Also, a 24 pack of bottled water is much cheaper than even a 12 pack of soda.
Therefore, buying a pack of bottled water would save you money as well.
Another way that you could save money is by investing in a filter of some sort, and drinking water
from the facet.
This would definitely decrease your spending on beverages during the year and save you a lot of
money.
As you can see, there are many benefits to drinking water.
I hope you know see how crucial water is to your body and why you should consume it on a regular
basis.
You can only survive several days without water, so make sure you drink up.
And by drinking water to ensure you stay living well, you will have some extra money to spend on
things in your life that you can enjoy.

2. Why is balance an issue in UTP cables, and what is TCL?
i. The balance or symmetry of the signal over the wire pairs helps minimize unwanted leakage of
the signal. ii. TCL Transverse Conversion Loss The TCL measurement is obtained by applying a
common mode signal to the input and measuring the differential signal level on the output. a.
TCL is sometimes called LCL (Longitudinal Conversion Loss). The ELTCLT value (expressed in
dB) is the difference between the TCTL and the differential mode insertion loss of the pair being

19. What is a benefit of using shielded twisted pair cabling? i. Cable with the addition of a shield is
called shielded twisted pair (STP) cable. The addition of this shield reduces the potential for
electromagnetic interference (EMI) as long as the shield is grounded. a. EMI originates from
devices such as motors and power lines, and from some lighting devices such as fluorescent
lights.20.
20. Which cable, UTP or STP, is preferred by the industry? i. Industry testing on STP cable has
shown that the addition of a shield does increase the usable bandwidth of the cable by increasing
the noise rejection between each of the wire pairs. However, the tests have shown that there is not
a significant advantage of placing a shield over a properly installed 4pair 100 ohm UTP cable. ii.
Most manufacturers are recommending the use of UTP cable for cabling computer networks except
for very noisy environments.

I Should Go Back For Med School
You should go back to med school is a statement I ve been hearing for years. Deciding to apply is
not a decision i have taken lightly. This isn t a choice that came about from a burning desire to be
a Doctor since a young age, or some tragic life changing event. This has been a decision based on
professional interactions, research and personal experiences that keep pointing me in the same
direction. RN school, my job as hospitaltech, and my current job in the ED have given me great
incite to the world of medicine. Before stepping into this world, i was a waiter and it was at that
job i realized how important short interactions with people can be. It s the smaller gestures and the
way you present your self that can make the experience that much better for the customer. As i
transferred my career to the bedside, i began to see how important taking your time, speaking
calmly, allowing time for the patient to take in what you just said, and sometimes just listening is. I
ve witnessed some of the most brilliant minds in medicine have awkward, rude, empty and short
interactions with people. I don t think this was done out of malice or discontent but more a lack of
social knowledge and what it means to truly encompass the multifaceted skill it is to treat the
patient. No patient is going to remember what antibiotic you gave, but they are going to remember
you sitting at the bedside and explaining to them why it is important to subject their sick

Periodic Paralysis Syndrome
Periodic Paralysis Syndrome is a blanket term for a couple of inherited muscular disorders. The
most common types are hypokalemic periodic paralysis and hyperkalemic periodic paralysis. Both
of these are inherited and generally present from childhood, tho it is possible for symptoms to start
showing later in adolescence. In hyperkalemic periodic paralysis, high levels of potassiumin the
blood interact with genetically caused abnormalities in sodiumchannels (pores that allow the
passage of sodium molecules) in musclecells, resulting in temporary muscle weakness and, when
severe, in temporary paralysis. This disease may be caused by genetic defects in either the calcium
channel or the sodium channel. Hypokalemic disease may be caused by genetic defects in either
the calcium channel or the sodium channel (Medline Plus).
PPS symptoms include periods of extreme muscle weakness and fatigue, muscle pain, irregular
heartbeat, and in rare cases difficulty breathing or swallowing. This last can be life threatening
and require a trip to the emergency room. Episodes of severe weakness in the arms and legs are
the major symptom. Typically, these episodes occur during sleep, early morning, or after strenuous
activity. Cold, stress, and alcohol may also produce attacks(med.nyu.edu). Some people with
certain types of PPS can be at risk for hyperthermia, which is when the body fails to regulate its
body temperature and it skyrockets. This can occur during surgery under anesthesia.

The objective of the study was to examine the dissociative phenomenology of dissociative Identity
Disorder (DID). The Multidimensional Inventory of Dissociation (MID) was administered to 34
patients with DID, 23 patients with dissociative disorder not otherwise specified (DDNOS), 52
patients with mixed psychiatric disorder, and 58 normal people. DID patients acquired essentially
higher scores than the other three gatherings on 27 separation related variables. DDNOS patients
had essentially higher scores than normals and mixed psychiatric patients on 17 and 15
dissociation related variables, separately. The discoveries of the present study are for all intents
and purposes indistinguishable to an extensive assemblage of recreated discoveries about the
dissociative phenomenology of DID. This wide scope of separation related marvels, which
routinely happens in people with DID, is generally truant from the DSM IV TR record of DID.
Element examination of the 11 measurements of dissociation that are measured by the MID

dissociation is a unifactorial taxon or normal sort that has distinctive angles or epiphenomena (i.e.,

A Comparison Of The Five Characters In The Catcher In The Rye
Today I m dining with 5 characters from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, who I consider close
friends; the characters are Holden Caulfield, Ackley, Jane Gallagher, Phoebe Caulfield, and
Stradlater. By the end of our Chinese dinner we all received a fortune cookie! The first to open
their fortune cookieswas Holden. His fortunesaid, Don t be unreal, this is only appropriate for
Holden because throughout the book he struggles with accepting reality and learning how to
cooperate with it. Ackley struggles to open his fortune cookie, but he got there. His fortune said,
Lying is always your first choice, but it will become your last resort once you become the lie
yourself. This made complete sense considering Ackley was always lying about his sexual
encounters; he kept his message to himself. Jane opens hers to see a surprise, You know you re
respected and loved, embrace it. Jane is one of the few people Holden enjoys. This gave a hint to
Jane, it left her puzzled. Phoebe, Holden s younger sister opened her fortune cookie with a sly
look on her face. She read her fortune aloud, Sunshine. She got this message because her
innocence would be the sunlight to Holden s day. Soon the sexy bastard (a nickname Holden gave
to his roommate Stradlater) at the table got to his fortune cookie. The fortune cookie said, Gross.
Stradlater is embarrassed and decides not to share his fortune with the table. This fortune was
accurate because he is very unhygienic at Home. Everyone

Should Sociologists Attempt To Combat The Social Problem...
Distinguish between crime as a social and sociological problem. To what extent should sociologists
attempt to combat the social problem of crime?
Although similar in most senses, social and sociological problems have completely different
meanings. A social problem is an issue that exists within a society, which individuals are opposed
to. A sociological problem on the other hand is an issue that arises and is discovered by sociologists
due to sociological research. Sociologists study human social lives, activities, interactions,
processes, and organizations within the context of larger social, political, and economic forces.
They examine how social influences affect different individuals and groups, and the ways

It is a violation of social norm, and therefore crime can also be described as an act of deviance.
Deviance can be both a minor or major offence. So how do sociologists go about combatting this
problem? An act of Social control can be defined broadly as an organized action intended to
change people s behaviour (Innes 2003). The fundamental goal of social control is to maintain
social order and the everyday behaviours on which individuals base their lives. One method for
implementing rules are through sanctions. Sanctions can be positive and also negative. Positive
sanctions are prizes given for fitting in with standards. Negative sanctions are disciplines for
disregarding standards. Black (1976) distinguishes four key styles of social control, each of which
characterizes deviance and the proper reaction to it in an alternate way. Penal social control
capacities by denying certain social practices and reacting to infringement with discipline.
Compensatory social control obliges a wrongdoer to pay a casualty to make up for a mischief
submitted. Therapeutic social control includes the utilization of treatment to return people to a
typical state. Conciliatory social control expects to accommodate the gatherings of a debate and
commonly restore agreement to a social relationship that has been harmed. While penal and
compensatory social controls accentuate the utilization of assents, helpful and mollifying social

Mandrill Morphology
Mandrills, or also known by their scientific name Mandrillus sphinx, live in the rain forests of
equatorial Africa, (San Diego Balboa Zoo, Mandrill exhibit/plaques, 2018). The Mandrill
Morphology: The mandrill has a distinct dental formula of 2:1:2:3, located on the maxilla and
mandible, which categorizes this primate to be in the catarrhine parvorder. All Old World
monkeys, apes, and humans share this very same 2.1.2.3 dental formula. They are well known
for their enormous canine teeth, which can be over 2 inches, roughly 5 centimeters long. Each
tooth is vital for the madrills survival, the pointed canines are used to pierce and tear at fruits or
nuts meanwhile the premolars (or bicuspids) and molars, with their multiple cusps, are used to
grind and smash food (The Primates: Monkeys, 2013). There are very distinct differences between
the male and female Mandrills, especially in this exhibit. An adult male mandrill that has the
brightest and most distinctive colors on his face seems to be most attractive to females...They have
thick ridges along the nose that are purple and blue, red lips and nose, and a golden beard....[while

Claude Monet Haystacks
Claude Monet was a French artist of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. He used very gestural
brush strokes in many of his painted, making them less realistic like any of the artist were doing
at the time. He was thought of as the father of Impressionism. Impressionism is taking a image out
of the realism skim and making it looked less real and instead more of a painting. This is done by
the long and large brush strokes in many of Monet s pieces, making them an Impression of an
image rather than going for a photographic look. The movement name actually came from
reviewers stating that the work was an impression of an image rather than its own piece of art.

This made it easy for Mondrian to make the pieces such like haystacks. The elements of the
movement are color, line, and value. In the painting Monet used very bright and dark colors, and
used large brushstroke lines as well. The value is seen in the darkness of the background and the
brightness of the green lilies. This is also seen in many of the other pieces of impressionism in this
time period.
Monet employs the principles of organization through scale, emphasis, contrast, and proportion. He
uses the close up scale of the haystack to show its emphasis in the piece. The contrast of the bright
sky on the darker haystack is very defined as well.
He used many elements of design in his piece as well. Line is a huge one; you can see the lines
from the shadows, the parallel lines of the tops of the haystacks, and the landscape horizontal
line as well. He also showed a ton of space since the haystacks are all on the left side, the right is
a huge open space in the painting. Form is also used in the piece, considering the haystacks look
3D to the human eye. The color and value work together to create the darkness of the haystacks
and shadows, and the light blue of the sky as well. Mass is the last element seen in this piece. The
haystacks seem so massive in the foreground compared to the horizon in the face background of the

Computer Assisted Programs And Its Effect On Academic...
As noted, numerous computer assisted instruction programs have shown some level of
effectiveness. Likewise, many of these computer assisted learning systems were judged effective
because they were shown to offer students a different learning experience which brought about a
positive effect on academic achievement. Similarly, these same computer assisted programs were
considered to be effective when the student outcomes were equal to or better than traditional
instruction strategies. Furthermore, many computer assisted learning programs were considered
efficient because less time was needed for instruction, compared to traditional instruction.
Subsequently, dissimilar from traditional instruction, these programs efficiency resulted from...

Early Intervention For Adolescent Substance Abuse
Summary
Liddle, H. A., Rowe, C. L., Dakof, G. A., Ungaro, R. A., Henderson, C. E. (2004). Early intervention
for adolescent substance abuse: Pretreatment to posttreatment outcomes of a randomized clinical
trial comparing multidimensional family therapy and peer group treatment. Journal of Psychoactive
Drugs, 36(1).
Abstract. The abstract discusses a randomized clinical trial that has been developed in order to
evaluate a family based therapy and a peer group therapy used with urban, low income, and
ethnically diverse adolescents between the ages 11 15 that have been referred for behavioral
problems and substance abuse. It briefly explains both treatments and how each was administered.
The abstract also discusses that these adolescents and their parents were assessed at intake, then
randomly assigned to either the family based therapy or peer group therapy treatment, and then
reassessed six weeks after intake and again at discharge. Results are briefly discussed in terms of
the effectiveness and purpose of the family based treatment, which was used to reduce risk and
promote protective processes in various domains, as well as reduce adolescent substance use.
Introduction. Drug use in early adolescence can be a determinant for later drug abuse; however,
clinicians are working on trying to stop drug use from progressing by intervening at the early
stages of adolescent drug use. Researchers have identified various risk and protective factors
involved with the

Literary Foils In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
In the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a wondrous tale of two men George a small,
slender man, and Lennie a big, tall man with a mental disability, who travel together and face
difficulties, happy times and fun with friends. This story by John Steinbeck has wowed many
people around the world and right here. after you read this story you ll for sure want all your
friends and families to know too.
John steinbeck uses these literary devices to create the story, and develop the theme of friendship
throughout the story
in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck, literary foils are used to show the difference and
similarities between George and Lennie.
Literary foils are important they show the best and worst differences in people. But in this story
it gets a little hectic on how different George and lennie are. And mostly about how forgetful
lennie is. So you forgot that awready..(george said)....I forgot lennie said softly. i tried not to
forget. (steinbeck 4) This supports the literary foils because of how different George and Lennie
are and it also explains how different they are.this is important because it shows the struggles
each of them go through but them being able to have each other helps them get through those
situations. Also lennie gets attached to things so he loves his new pup that george got him, but
alittle to much. George put down his cards very deliberately. Lennie, he said sharply (steinbeck
42) This shows that even though george is a nice guy he can be defensive. when he was just
outside of the bunkhouse and saw lennie bring a puppy in he would ve beaten lennie up for it so
+the pup wouldn t die. This also relates to Lennie s death and how George had to kill him before
he actually got hurt, you hadda, George. i swear you hadda. (steinbeck 107) In the end this
shows that if george would have died lennie would have killed multiple people to get revenge vs.
george just killing the killer and slightly lying to save himself. All these make up a good part of
the book but most importantly irony takes a long stride to be the best and how it is used to form
the story of the book.
in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck he uses irony to show how lennie says he isn t going to do

  • 2. Cyber Criminals Are Faceless And Cybercrimes Cyber criminals are faceless and cybercrimes are now easier and safer for criminals to troll the internet for unsuspected victims without leaving the comfort of their own home. According to a Police Executive Research Forum report (PERF, 2014), local law enforcement are struggling with responses to cybercrimes; Chief Charles McClelland of the Houston policedepartment told PERF, unfortunately, we haven t properly prepared our officers to handle cybercrime calls (p.20). Cybercrimes are not limited to credit card frauds, scams, human trafficking, or cyber bullying, but also involves attacks on national infrastructures to terrorism plots on a larger scale. The post 911 investigation revealed that the internetplayed a key role in the attacks, from planning to coordinating to executing the cowardice acts. As a law enforcementorganization, we are facing a new breed of criminals criminals with no faces or names and our task is to bring them to justice. There is a lack of knowledge in the cyber world, which the police culture does not fully comprehend. In order to level the playing field, we must improve IT knowledge through education, commit funding to promulgate cybercrimes units, and collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to create a team of teams. The internet is largely unregulated, therefore, those who are most familiar with it will dominate the virtual world. There is hope, although cybercrimes are committed via the internet, there is an operator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Decriminalizing All Drugs We all have an interest in making sure teens grow up healthy and drug free. John Walters Would you like to live in a safer, drug free community? I do and here is how to start: by decriminalizing all drugs! Since Richard Nixon coined the phrase War on Drugs in 1971, America has failed miserably to reduce the consumption and traffic of illicit drugs from outside our borders. Although a heavy portion are against decriminalizing drugs because of short term consequences and health concerns in public communities, Portugal s evident sixteen year experience with drug decriminalization has proven otherwise with significant, long term positive outcomes. However, due to the long lasting and persuasive positive outcomes of decriminalization, it is vital that the U.S. strongly reconsiders the prohibitionof all drugs for the health and economic benefit of our communities. Obviously, there will be short term consequences but also benefits too. Unfortunately, the hype of decriminalizing drugs will cause an increase in the number of users but it is important to note that a considerable amount of those being newly documented are closet junkies finally being revealed. As Dr. Caitlin Hughes, a member of the Drug Policy Modelling Program of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre puts it, Portuguese decriminalization did not lead to major increases in drug use. Indeed, evidence indicates reductions in problematic use, drug related harms and criminal justice overcrowding (Hughes; Stevens). As this research shows, the predictions on Portugal s well being after the decriminalization of all drugs were incorrect and the complete opposite occurred creating healthy and safer communities because of awareness. Bringing our attention back to the increasing number of users within the hype years, public safety is a large concern where communities will have a difficult time adapting to the new policy and becoming accustomed to a new culture and lifestyle. On the contrary, I find a few years of craziness to be minimal in comparison to the long term achievement that this law intends to achieve. Portugal has proved that decriminalization reduces drug use, drug related harms, and criminal justice overcrowding. JoГЈo GoulГЈo, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My I Decided For A Teacher The day I decided that I wanted to be a teacher I pictured myself choosing my favorite books and having thoughtful discussions. I imagined my students would enjoy the many activities we completed and at the end of the unit they would take a test and we would move on to the next topic. I was unaware of what the field of educationwould actually entail. I soon learned that teaching was nothing like what I imagined. I didn t realize that my teachers made teaching a classroom full of student look easy because they used several techniques. They realized that they must take into account not only what they are teaching (content), but also whom they are teaching (individual students) (Corley, 2007). As I ve learned more about my field I have realized that teaching involves providing the best education to students based on their ability to learn. When you understand that this is what teaching is about, you try practices that will make your instruction stronger. Differentiation is one way to make sure that all learners gain the education they deserve. Learning Plan When planning any lesson, I always consult the standards to determine what students must know and be able to do. The standard for this lesson states, Students analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions about persuasive text and provide evidence from text to support their analysis. Students are expected to: evaluate the merits of an argument, action, or policy by analyzing the relationships (e.g., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Impact Of Technology On Society With Businesses And Schools Most people believe that technologies is the master mind in this world. Without technology humans cannot be able to master things through businesses and schools. Technology is destroying humanity and it has been a major thing in people lives. Humans realized that technology can cause many problems throughout their lives and can lead to be humiliation. Yet, humans using technologyhas been noticed in articles, movies, play, and books. Technologies has a big impact in today s society with businesses and schools. Also according to Melvin Seeman, alienation can be categorized into five dimensions: powerless, meaninglessness, normlessness, social isolation and self estrangement (783). The five types of alienation caused by technology threaten human existence and are embedded in culture and societal norms. Power is the ability of controlling others, and the opposite of power is powerless, which means a lack of strength or absence of power (Seeman 784). Someone who has been through this powerlessness experience may feel out of control and has no way of trying to regain control. According to Karl Marx, meaninglessness refers to the state of being without meaning and values of labors in the work process. Therefore, going into the meanings of the five dimensions of alienation. Alienation means that separation of individuals from society. Which means that it is a lack of trust in one s social or physical environment or oneself. • 8. The Yellow Wallpaper, By William Faulkner In a struggle to retain what they believe is tangible, two very different, yet so analogous women are introduced in the diverse domains produced by two authors. The first, Charlotte Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, where the narrator is a woman from an upper middle class upbringing who s taken to a house by her husband for their summer vacation where she begins to feel confined and the later, William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, where Emily is the daughter of an influential man who does become confined to her house after her father passes away. Although their stories are written by two very different people, the women share an eerie resemblance as they begin to fall into an insanity driven by fixation. To explore and understand these connections, one must look into themes and symbolisms to further magnify the foundation of their stories. The initial similarity between both women is their state of being alone in love. After all, the narrator in The Yellow Wallpaperfinds no comfort in her husband, although she attempts to convince herself that he loves her, she also finds herself wishing him away stating I am glad my case is not serious! as it would lead John to stay all night with her confining her even more that she already feels that she is (958). Alternately, the reason Emily from A Rose for Emily is left alone in her house is due to the fact that her sweetheart had abandoned her after her father had died, which contributed to her state of isolation (715). Moorish style architecture in America was largely fantastical rather than archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This type of architecture in America was seen as very exotic and many of the buildings constructed in this style were non traditional. The details of the early Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about Moorish Styles. Hui Tzu(Erin) Wang ID:0720052 Effect of an Increasing Substrate Concentration on Enzyme Activity Rate Abstract The reaction rate of an enzyme can be affected by many factors, and the purpose of this experiment was to find out how an increasing substrate concentration influences the rate of an enzyme activity; we obtained data from recording the absorbance of the samples which contain the same amount of potato juice (enzyme oxidase) and different amount of catechol (substrate) while holding pH and temperature constant. Our findings illustrate that the rate of enzyme activity is only influenced by substrate concentration at low level of substrate concentration, and as substrate ... Discussion If we viewed the slopes of the trials from figure 1 as the rates of enzyme activity, our results could be interpreted as the following: when in substrate concentration increased from a low concentration(for example, from test tube 1 to test tube 2), the rate of the enzyme activity increased with the increase in substrate concentration; but as the substrate concentration increased, the enzyme activity reached a constant rate where all the enzymes were saturated(slope=0), and increase in substrate concentration would have no effect on the activity rate. Also, the higher the initial substrate concentration is, the faster the activity rate reached the constant(for example, test tube 3 reached the constant rate 6 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It read, This way to Gold and Silver Orchard. Princess Ella followed the arrow on the sign. A little ways along the path, she came to another sign. It read, Keep following this path to get to Gold and Silver Forest. The princess wondered which path to take. What should I do? Princess Ella muttered to herself. She decided to stay in the smaller Gold and Silver Orchard, and explore and enjoy herself while she was there. Suddenly Princess Ella found that she was very tired, and she lay down to take a nap under a shady tree. She slept for days! When she finally woke up, she saw a big bird flying above her. She said to the bird, What a beautiful bird. What is your name? What kind of bird are you? I ve never seen a bird like you here before. The bird replied to her, Oh, my name is SilverBird. My name comes from what I am made of. I am made entirely from silver. Oh what a beautiful name, said Princess Ella. My name is Princess Ella. • 13. The Unrealistic Expectations Of I Want A Wife By Judy Brady In Judy Brady s essay I Want A Wife (1971), she presents the unrealistic expectations of a wife. Brady presents her idea with repetition of I want a wife.. expectations from the husbands to the wives, over statements and with rhetorical questions. Brady exaggerates a husband s expectations for the wives in order to persuade the audience to believe wives are mistreated and overlooked by their husbands. Brady addresses both husbands and wives in her essay by bringing attention the husbands and the mistreatment of the wives. Additionally, she also brings attention to their wives and the abuse they re facing. Throughout the majority of Brady s essay she uses repetition of the phrase I want a wife.. . The phrases all describe the high and unrealistic expectations that a wife must do to make her husband satisfied. Many of the expectations are similar to those of a caretaker, nurse, and slave. When Brady states When I meet people at school that I like and want to entertain, I want a wife who will have the house clean, will prepare a special meal, serve it to me and my friends and not interrupt when I talk about things that interest me and my friends. , it shows that a wife, in this instance, is much like a slave who obeys the dominant power in the household. The characteristics of the economy have shifted to favor an information based economy in which technology plays the largest role in the production process. This has come at the expense of the characteristics of the Fordist system, such as a large class of manufacturing workers in the American midwest. The rise of the creative class is part of the same transition that is responsible for the demise of the American worker. The transition from Fordism to knowledge based capitalism has seen the majority of manufacturing jobs replaced by automation. The displacement stemming from automation as well as resentment for the lucrative creative class sparked the rise of populist candidates in 2016. Richard Florida s commentary The Creative Class and Economic Development focuses on the rise of what he refers to as the creative class. The rise of the creative class has been a result of the transition of the global economyaway from Fordism to an information based system. These words once said by George Washington Carver align well with the ongoing theme of education versus ignorance throughout The Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass. His life can be split in two: ignorance and education, before and after, darkness and light whatever classification you choose it is irrefutable that education changed his life and there is a clear delineation, a marked difference. The period of Fredrick s life that can be filed under ignorance is the time predating his move to Baltimore. Slaveholders didn t want their slaves to show opposition in actions and neither in words because words are powerful, because God forbid the slave says something that stirs someone s conscience, and makes them think twice about their deplorable behavior. Furthermore it would be some sort of blasphemy for a slave to be literate, in fact many white people didn t know how to read and write so why should a slave? Lawrence s Seven Pillars of Wisdom is the memoir of a British junior officer during the Allied campaign against the Turks during the First World War. A remarkable work that remains germane in the current operating environment, Seven Pillars was not the book that Lawrence intended to write upon embarking on his adventures in southwest Asia. He had drafted a book on seven great cities of the Middle East but lost his initial text prior to completion. Although untrained for his role in the Arab Revolt, Lawrence demonstrates a firm grasp of Clausewitzian principles and their presence in the campaign. Writing while directed to bed rest, Lawrence develops his text s arguably most significant chapter. Lawrence describes this approach as the Algebraical element of things, a Biological element of lives, and the Psychological element of ideas . He asserts that viewing events through an algebraic lens enables him to encounter, known variables, fixed conditions, space and time, inorganic things... with mankind in type masses too great for individual variety with all artificial aids and the extensions given our faculties by mechanical invention. His ability to comprehend his tactical means as a mathematical component of the strategic ends enabled fluidity and tempo in Arab action while generating frustration in his enemy. Looking back at my previous employment as a financial associate at Boone County National Bank, I can relate to the definition of the behavioral approach. I was always concerned about given tasks and people. My behavior influenced others to follow and start behaving the same way I did. A great example is the way I used to deal with my customers. I was friendly, concerned with their business and ensured that they were well taken care of. By being concerned and open minded, I completed sales and other branch needed tasks without pushing or forcing myself on someone. With a combination of traits and behavior me and my colleagues made a great team and were able to complete all tasks on time, efficiently and effectively as well as satisfy all of our customers and managers. Looking back over the accomplishments of the branch I worked in as well as my personal accomplishments, I feel proud of what I have helped accomplish. Conclusion Understanding the difference between effective management and effective leadership is important. Leaders are not always born leaders; they can be formed into leaders if that is what they want. All five leadership approaches combined would form the perfect leader but each individual has special traits and behaviors that can make one into a leader. The behavioral ... Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products or you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and maybe a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny of modern society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but now owning a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft are replacing taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost everywhere around the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of our lives does not mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still have an ongoing debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting society as a whole or not. Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this new technological age expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will change our world for the better both Kevin Kelly s Better than Human , Clive Thompson s Smarter than You Think , as well as Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld s The Influencing Machines explore. On the other hand, skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies are tainting our own capabilities and making us more dependent rather than relying on our own skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? . Although technology has changed many aspects of our lives we should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many aspects of our daily lives. One of the main concerns that people have in accordance to new technological advances is how it affects our brains and how we think. Although I tend to be an enthusiast when it comes to new cutting edge hardware or software I still agree with Carr on the fact that technology may not be this great learning tool with no downsides that everyone hypes it up to be. The Bolsheviks were surrounded, and often outnumbered by their opponents, and had no experienced military commanders. At times, their situation seemed hopeless. Yet, by the start of 1921, the Bolsheviks had defeated their enemies and gained a complete victory. The establishment of Communism in Russiawent ahead unchallenged. No one person was in charge of the White forces, whereas the Bolsheviks had Lenin, the Whites had several rival people, such as Yudenich, Wrangel, Kolchak and Denikin vying for control. They were all ambitious men and each was determined to take control of Russia for himself. As a result, there was virtually no co operation between the various White Armies. They had to move their forces and supplies over huge distances, making it difficult to maintain effective control. The lack of effective railways was an added complication to the existing communication difficulties between them. Whereas the Whites were disunited, the Bolsheviks maintained absolute unity through the Terror. It was this skilled leadership of the Red Army, paired with the divided leadership of the White Forces that was a key factor in the Bolsheviks winning the Civil War. A second reason why the Bolsheviks won the Civil War was geography. In 1918, the start of the Civil War, the Bolsheviks had the advantage of holding a central position between Petrograd and Moscow (including their factories.) Most of Russia s railways were in this area, making communication between various battlefronts much easier, Trotsky was able to move troops and supplies rapidly to areas under attack. George Washington s Accomplishments Cary Racioppi US History Bowler 9/16/14 Unit II Essay Prompt #1 Although George Washington may not be exalted as a successful military leader when assessing number of wins; he is still, due to his unremitting persistence and prudent tactics, such as strategic retreat, among those, such as Napoleon, who are highly regarded when discussing renowned military leaders. One of the things that makes a general memorable and considered successful today is determined by their accomplishments and their endeavors to achieve these accomplishments. A main reason George Washington is recognized today as a legendary general, is because, despite the unskilled army he was provided, he managed to attain the pivotal goal for America; gaining its independence. George Washington had a very well understanding of military power, and was forced to aid in making an army of untrained farmers into an army of warriors. • 36. Importance Of Discourse Analysis Discourse analysis is the variety of theoretical approaches and analytic emphases concerning the studying and understanding of people s use of language mediums in social action and interaction. This also applies to the development of capitalism and technology. Studies have opened doors to these topics. Despite variation in theoretical approaches, all strands of discourse analysisshare a strong social constructionist epistemology. With its roots largely embedded in linguistic philosophy, ethnomethodology and speech act theory (Potter, 1987; Potter Wetherell, 1995). Discourse analysis might be applied to qualitative data if a person were interested in understanding how people s ideas and emotions are pieced together to form versions of reality of the world around them, and how these accounts are played out in social action and interaction. This is the model that the heads of this capitalistic state manipulate the common public. Further, it would be useful if interests lay in exploring and understanding why people use different versions of discourse in differing contexts, and under what conditions do variations arise. Specifically discourse analysis might be utilized by those interested in exploring how powerful discourses, such as racism, are constructed, practiced and normalized (Edley, 2001). Discourse analysis s focus is rooted in three basic tenets: construction, function and variation (Potter, 1987). The assumption is that discourses are constructed through ... It is known that Prince Hamlet attends the University of Wittenberg as King Cladius and Queen Gertrude are against Hamlets return to Wittenberg, stating that [i]t is most retrograde to [their] desire (Shakespeare I.ii.114). The fact that Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, attends university shows that the world of Hamlet, without a doubt, resembles Shakespeare s world. A parable is known as a story mainly used in the New Testament of Christianity. The purpose of a parable is to portray some kind of moral meaning or to teach a lesson. This is commonly done in the New Testament with a reading from one of the Apostles. These parables, commonly found in the scriptures were usually told by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, four of the apostles. The main focus was to illustrate a lesson of morals and values. A lot of these stories told in the gospel are said to be simple, but create a visual image in the audience s head. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind (Loftus Ketcham). Dreams can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality. Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is common in all these dreams is obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes into action. Many people find it hard to believe that when they have a dreamover and over again that it does not mean anything. In hyperkalemic periodic paralysis, high levels of potassiumin the blood interact with genetically caused abnormalities in sodiumchannels (pores that allow the passage of sodium molecules) in musclecells, resulting in temporary muscle weakness and, when severe, in temporary paralysis. Additionally, it was revealed that a large portion of XYZ high schoolstudents received textbook assistance, free/reduced lunches, or had a learning disability that put them in the at risk category. Of equal importance was the rural location of XYZ high school which resulted in the offering of limited educational opportunities or innovative strategies. As a result of this information, computer assisted instructional programs including Any Where Learning System, Keystone Credit Recovery, Apex Learning, and PLATO learning systems were investigated and evaluated as a way to provide an alternative to traditional instruction for credit recovery of these students. Accordingly, after a thorough investigation, the computer assisted instruction program chosen and implemented as a credit recovery source at XYZ high school and analyzed in this research was the PLATO (Programmed Logic Automated Teaching Operations) learning system. This program was chosen based on its cost effectiveness, interactivity, and ease of use. Additionally, PLATO s appeal was its interactivity that either illustrated some contextual change or provided immediate feedback to the learner. Furthermore, the success of this program was based on the program s flexibility and instructional diversity in the way it taught a variety of concepts within numerous contexts. Equally important was the PLATO learning design and structure which were easily navigated and guided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Early Intervention For Adolescent Substance Abuse Summary Liddle, H. A., Rowe, C. L., Dakof, G. A., Ungaro, R. A., Henderson, C. E. (2004). Early intervention for adolescent substance abuse: Pretreatment to posttreatment outcomes of a randomized clinical trial comparing multidimensional family therapy and peer group treatment. Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, 36(1). Abstract. The abstract discusses a randomized clinical trial that has been developed in order to evaluate a family based therapy and a peer group therapy used with urban, low income, and ethnically diverse adolescents between the ages 11 15 that have been referred for behavioral problems and substance abuse. It briefly explains both treatments and how each was administered. The abstract also discusses that these adolescents and their parents were assessed at intake, then randomly assigned to either the family based therapy or peer group therapy treatment, and then reassessed six weeks after intake and again at discharge. Results are briefly discussed in terms of the effectiveness and purpose of the family based treatment, which was used to reduce risk and promote protective processes in various domains, as well as reduce adolescent substance use. Introduction. Drug use in early adolescence can be a determinant for later drug abuse; however, clinicians are working on trying to stop drug use from progressing by intervening at the early stages of adolescent drug use. Researchers have identified various risk and protective factors involved with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Literary Foils In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men In the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a wondrous tale of two men George a small, slender man, and Lennie a big, tall man with a mental disability, who travel together and face difficulties, happy times and fun with friends. This story by John Steinbeck has wowed many people around the world and right here. after you read this story you ll for sure want all your friends and families to know too. John steinbeck uses these literary devices to create the story, and develop the theme of friendship throughout the story in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck, literary foils are used to show the difference and similarities between George and Lennie. Literary foils are important they show the best and worst differences in people. But in this story it gets a little hectic on how different George and lennie are. And mostly about how forgetful lennie is. So you forgot that awready..(george said)....I forgot lennie said softly. i tried not to forget. (steinbeck 4) This supports the literary foils because of how different George and Lennie are and it also explains how different they are.this is important because it shows the struggles each of them go through but them being able to have each other helps them get through those situations. Also lennie gets attached to things so he loves his new pup that george got him, but alittle to much. George put down his cards very deliberately. Lennie, he said sharply (steinbeck 42) This shows that even though george is a nice guy he can be defensive. when he was just outside of the bunkhouse and saw lennie bring a puppy in he would ve beaten lennie up for it so +the pup wouldn t die. This also relates to Lennie s death and how George had to kill him before he actually got hurt, you hadda, George. i swear you hadda. (steinbeck 107) In the end this shows that if george would have died lennie would have killed multiple people to get revenge vs. george just killing the killer and slightly lying to save himself. All these make up a good part of the book but most importantly irony takes a long stride to be the best and how it is used to form the story of the book. in Of Mice and Men by john steinbeck he uses irony to show how lennie says he isn t going to do ...
