2. What creative decisions did you have to make to solve
problems and how did this depart from your original plan?
• We had to think of a genuine idea instead of a
ridiculous one. We had to decide which sound
effects to use and where to get them.
3. Both individually and working with others how did
you work and what challenges did you face?
• Peter – Getting used to the software and working out
what to do. I also initially faced some difficulty when
using Sony Vegas as it was my first time navigating it.
• Chris – getting used the Sony Vegas software again
and editing the radio advert
4. What advertising techniques did you use to
hook your intended audience?
• Arabian Salsa 2, the quick and catchy tune
captured our listener’s hearts. Also used dramatic
sound effects. The odd tone of the advert was used
to catch the attention of our audience.
5. How did technology enable the creative
process? Was it difficult to use any of the
equipment and did you learn any skills?
• The technology we had available allowed a wide
range of creativity due to all the sound effects and
music we were able to use in our advert. We made
sure to make full use of these opportunities. I learnt
how to layer sounds after getting used to Sony
Vegas.
6. What conventions of radio adverts have
you used and why?
• We used sound effects, music, dialogue. We used
these in order to keep the advert interesting. We
tried to make sure that it caught the attention of
listeners through the use of sound effects and music.
We tried to incorporate a catchy jingle in the
background like most radio adverts do.
7. What or who are you representing in your advert
and how?
• We are representing the fictional company of Glass
Box Headphones. We do this through discussing
sound in the advert.
8. What feedback did you get and did this help
you realise anything about your product?
• Arabian Salsa music was catchy and we like
to think of as the theme tune of our product.
• Needs to be slightly shorter (8 seconds over
allocated amount), recording was clear.
Could have done with more layers in order to
add to the atmosphere.
• Few seconds at the beginning wasted time
with no dialogue.
