Coach Dungy Uncommon Analysis
The book Uncommon is written by Tony Dungy. Coach Dungy is recognizable because of his Super
Bowl victory in 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts. He is an African American coach who believes in
putting others before himself, the importance of how people act in everyday life, and surrounding
himself with people he can trust. In his book, Dungy goes through chapter–by–chapter describing
different morals a person should have. In each chapter, he gives examples of the importance of that
moral through stories of his personal and professional life. As a student–athlete, I believe that the
morals he lists are admirable and should be held in every player. Coach Dungy always expects the
best from his players. Not only does he have high performing football players who are capable of
winning the biggest game, but also he has a team full of ethical people. The values he expects the
most from each of his players are being humble, being fully committed to the game and having
integrity with their actions. Through his actions, Coach Dungy was able to surpass the expectations
he held for his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the third chapter, he describes a night before a nerve wracking first game. The night
before the game, Dungy invited his brother in law to eat dinner with the whole football team and
spend the rest of the evening with them. This gave the brother in law an opportunity to personally
know the players and live in their world for one day. When it was time for bed, Dungy was not
going to accept his brother in law to sleep anywhere but the one bed in the suite, even though it was
necessary that the coach was well rested for the game next day. As cliché as it sounds, actions speak
louder than words. Coach Dungy's actions prove of the character that he has developed throughout
his life and the good rewards he has earned from acting correctly and putting others before

NFL Stadiums : The Causes And Cons Of NFL Stadiums
Sports Stadiums are an iconic staple of American tradition. However not everything about these
venues is positive. Team owners take advantage of laws and fans to meet their own goals. Citizens
and city officials from various locations have taken up their grievances with the NFL in the past.
And it has gotten to the point where even political parties join together to bring to light issues with
the organization. NFL stadiums are not good for cities because they take advantage of tax payers,
hurt citizens on an economic level and cost them billions in subsidies. Sports teams and more
importantly the NFL does not always have respect for the city or its people. In some cases the teams
have contracts with the city their cities that state the conditions of maintaining the stadiums they
play in. In Cincinnati, the Bangles cost the Hamelton County a lot of money. in Hamilton County,
where one in seven people lives beneath the poverty line and budget cuts have left gaps in the
schools and sheriffs department, residents are bracing for more belt–tightening: rollback of a
property–tax break promised as part of a 1996 plan to entice voters to pay for two new stadiums
(Wall Street Journal). It pays more for the team than it does on the citizens. In 2013 the team
threatened to move to another city if the county did not pay for upgrades to their new stadium. For
the second super bowl the city of Glendale had, the mayor was officially uninvited due to a
disagreement on the terms of the event. The construction of the stadium that event was held at was
the subject of contraversy as well, money.cnn.com reports "Taxpayers paid for most of the
University of Phoenix Stadium, which opened in 2006 and is home to this Sunday's Super Bowl ––
to the tune of about $300 million.". Citizens of Santa Clara deal with increased traffic in their city
for the San Francisco 49rs playing in their city, despite protests from the people. In the end if you try
to get in the way of the organization they do not care what position you hold in office, so long as
they get their way.
Team fandoms are one of many advantages sports teams in the NFL use to ease the financial load on
their stadiums. In 2006 the Arizona Cardinals team officials decided

Patriots : The Failure Of Football And The NFL
he National Football League (NFL) is by far America's most popular sports league. Among the 32
clubs in the league, the New England Patriots are one of the most valuable franchises. From 2000 to
2014, the club claimed 12 division titles, played in nine AFC Conference Championship games,
reached five Super Bowls, and lifted the Lombardi Trophy on three occasions. Along with winning,
controversy follows closely behind, and the Patriots are not immune to it either. In 2007, the Patriots
were caught illegally videotaping opponents, causing the NFL to fine the club and coach Bill
Belichick, and taking a draft pick away (McNear, 2017). Ever since then, the Patriots have been
under the microscope from the league, media, and fans. Then came January 18, 2015. The Patriots
were hosting the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game on a cool rainy Sunday
evening. It was just a normal football game until halftime, were behind the scenes at Gillette
Stadium, NFL officials were checking the air pressure of footballs. It was thought that the Patriots
were deliberately deflating footballs. That moment spiraled into what many refer to as deflategate
and becoming one of the leading stories not only in the sports world, but nationally, as NBC and
CBS ran stories during their nightly telecast. One of the leading newspapers in the Boston area, the
Boston Herald, had a very challenging task on their hands the week following the controversy and
leading up to the Super Bowl–that is, how to

Tony Dungy 's Quiet Strength
Tony Dungy is a highly respected pillar in the athletic community. Breaking barriers throughout his
coaching carrier; he was propelled into the spotlight when he became the first African American
coach to win a Super Bowl title. Shortly following his victory in Super Bowl XLI came much
intrigue into his coaching style and personal life. Many wondering how he gained the respect of all
his players and produced positive results while maintaining a calm demeanor. In his book, Quiet
Strength, Tony Dungy speaks on the importance of faith and family. Emphasizing the power of
prayer, commitment, and patience within faith. As well as the impact of his family on his career, that
ultimately changed the path he had preferred for himself.
In the first chapter Dungy opens by setting a scene of defeat, being fired from the Tampa Bay
Bucaneers. As he took his last stroll throughout the facility he began to wonder what else was in
store for him, and had his career in professional football finally come to an end. After all he was a
man who lived his life based off priorities. And he did make mention in his book, football was not at
the top of his priority list. In this moment, others like it, and the moment succeeding his Super Bowl
victory Dungy was repeatedly faced with the deciphering the next step of his career. Often times
shying away from the easier and more desirable route, to follow the path of God. It was on this path
that Dungy will touch many personally and open the

Green Bay Packers Characteristics
The Green Bay Packers are one of the most notable teams in the NFL and all of sports. The four
time Super Bowl champions have a few negative qualities, including bad defenses in the past and
recent years of unsuccessful playoff runs. However, the negatives do not outweigh the team's
powerhouse offense and Super Bowl trophies. The team was founded in 1919 and had very little
success until 1929. This is the start of the Green Bay Packers that most people know as "Titletown".
From 1929 to present day, the Packers have won 13 championships. That being the most
championships won by a single team in NFL history. While the Green Bay Packers are a very
successful team, they have had their up's and down's.
One of the team's biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what
makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best
quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest
quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300
touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best
in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an
interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years
without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the
best seasons

The Super Bowl- Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is modern day slavery, which leads to kidnapping, drugs, forced sex, forced labor
or death. Consequently, many victims which include men as well as women and children from all
the countries are being kidnapped, bought and sold against their will, which are odious crimes in the
21st century. Therefore, Abolishing justice in the 21st century (A21) organization made a campaign
poster "The Super Bowl– Human Trafficking" contains calculated information that The Super Bowl
is known as the largest human trafficking incident in the United States. The notice contains an
extemporaneous photo of a woman who runs through a tunnel towards the light. A21 organization
strongly believes there are no unscathed people around the world, therefore human beings should
work together, and consequently the human trafficking will end. The art director of the poster is
unknown; the available information shows that this poster belongs to A21 organization. I retrieved
this placard from the internet, from Tina Kaufmann's article "Super Bowl is "single largest magnet
for sex trafficking, child prostitution in US", which she published in February 1st, 2013 on the
website of WCPO. The intended argument of the placard was to look around as well as to pay
attention to what is going on at the time of the Super Bowl, principally, parents need to look after
very carefully for their children in an addition to speak up if they notice something suspicious,

History of The Super Bowl Essay
The impact of the Super bowl has been a phenomenon. In fact, since January 1967 "it has become
part of the American culture, which illustrates that it has become the single–most important event in
the sporting world currently" (Johnson, Savidge, pp. 83). The Super bowl had quite humble origins,
which is why it is shocking to understand as to why this game became vastly popular and remains
that way. In fact, one would notice that it is a county fair, a weeklong convention along with an
unofficial national holiday with the right game for the television. Therefore, the name of the game is
no exaggeration. One can also notice the economic trends and success of the Super Bowl. The
economic footprints of this particular game are actually more ... Show more content on

Therefore, before addressing the history of the Super Bowl and the reasons for it becoming such a
mega–scale event, it is important to discuss the National Football League.
Importance of Football
These are the "not–so–obvious reasons" that make Super Bowl such a popular game, and such an
important cultural event. According to McBride (1995), football is able to show violence, blood,
groans and grunts in the right way, since there is no 'actual' death. Therefore, war and commerce
both find their rationalized version through the ritualistic performance of Football, more specifically
Super Bowl in this context. It affirms to the identity of American men that they are real men, who
are able to enjoy power and violence and they are not weak. The symbolization of the phallic
aggression of war and destruction becomes possible through football (Langman, pp. 75).
History about National Football League
Without any doubts, the National Football League is considered to be the most popular sports league
within the United States. It has a huge amount of prominence on the global sporting landscape. NFL
has been able to build Super Bowl into this dynamic event that we see today (Coombs, pp. 93). The
League was formed in 1920 and it was only after WWII that it was able to gradually gain the kind of
prominence that it has today. It had to

The Super Bowl : The Nfl Game Of The National Football...
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 50th NFL Super Bowl here in Dallas, Texas at the AT&T
Stadium, home of America's team, the Dallas Cowboys," says the commentator. As many Americans
obviously know, the Super Bowl is the biggest game of the year in the National Football League and
most likely the most watched single game in all of sports in the United States of America. This game
is played between the best team of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the best team of
the National Football Conference (NFC). As you may know, in football there are many important
key players that contribute to team's ability to win. There is the quarterback: who is the main guy
who makes the plays happen, the wide receiver: who catches the ball, the running back: the player
that runs the ball and can catch at some times, and many more players out there giving it their one
hundred percent every time they step out onto the field under those bright football lights. There is
one player though, the unsung hero at times that is not usually "famous" or really recognized in the
game of American football, the kicker. The kicker is the one that at times is able to win the game for
the team with his ability to kick the football from a long range and into the two posts known as the
field goal. This player has the capability to even win a super bowl for you at times with perfectly
kicked football going through the field goal. Today, I will be going through the different phases of
how the kicker

Sexual Exploitation Of Sex Advertising
Sexual exploitation is becoming more and more mainstream in advertisements. Everyone knows that
sex sells. Especially Carl's Jr. They have developed a reputation with their salacious ad campaigns,
often depicting women in very revealing attires. In their recent advertisement for the 2015 Super
Bowl, it features model Charlotte Mckinney where she is baring almost everything. There is more to
the commercial than just boobs and burgers. The use of Mckinney's body as a sexual object is
discriminating to all women and raises sexism. The stereotypical ad brings imparities between
genders and promotes gender policing. The attention–grabbing, super sexy "Au Naturel" ad first
starts off with the model Mckinney, walking through a farmer's market practically naked while
strategically placed items are covering her private areas. She clearly has all the attention of the men
at the market. She walks by this one man with a spray hose and he completely turns around to catch
a look of Mckinney, who appears fully naked, being covered this time by the spraying water from
the hose. She catches another man's attention and is a shot of her bare back with a tomato shaped
exactly like her behind, perfectly covering just that. The man then pinches and grabs the side of the
tomato. The shot after shows her walking towards a scale where again, a man is perfectly barely
covering her up by putting two big melons on a scale to replace her breasts. The last and final shot is
when she is walking towards

History of Washington Redskins and Its Name Essay
History of Organization and Name
Originally named the Boston Braves, the Washington Redskins remain known for their legacy and
team history. Under the ownership of George Person Marshall, Vincent Bendix, Jay O'Brien and
Dorland Dolye, the Boston Braves were born as part of the NFL franchise in 1932. Shortly after in
1933, they renamed the Boston Redskins, followed by another name change when they reestablished
in Washington D.C as the Washington Redskins in 1937; and made the Griffith Stadium their new
home.
Over the decades, the professional football team obtained a number of NFL championship titles such
as their Super Bowl victories in 1983, 1988, and 1992. The Redskins became highly recognized and

The Redskins name symbolizes the organizations past, present and future. Coaches, players, and
dedicated fans are concerned that the franchise will lose the support of the community and funding
if a campaign to change the Redskins name is not implemented.
Marketing Plan
With the recent uproar and political involvement with the name controversy, as an organization we
have developed a marketing campaign to involve our elite fan base with changing the Washington
Redskins' name, to one that is well accepted within the community. Since the organization is
enriched with history and traditions, we developed a strategic campaign that stays true to the
Redskins' values. Our plan is to keep the Redskins' brand as consistent as possible, while assuring
the uniformity of the brand by keeping the current logo and the same color scheme. We will ensure
that the experience fans get when they come to watch the team play is the same or better than
before.
Objectives
To guarantee a successful transition throughout the campaign we have brainstormed strategic
objectives to create a smooth process to sustain our influential fan base.

Rhetorical analysis: Cookie or Cream
This rhetorical analysis is about the Nabisco company airing a funny commercial during the Super
Bowl called "Whisper Fight." Nabisco shows that all 3 appeals do not have to be used in order to
create an effective advertisement.
The commercial starts off in a two–story library. Two students are seemingly studying at a table of
books. One of them holds up an Oreo and whispers to his tablemate, "Ive always preferred the
cream part of an Oreo." In a nonchalant whisper, the tablemate replies, "That's insane, the cream is
the best part!" From that moment a whisper argument starts. The two tablemates are whispering in
reply to each other, "Cream!" , "Cookie!", Cream!" As the whisper exchange escalates, one of them
finally stands up and flips the table over. Their aggression is noticed by others and the need to
partake in a rumble soon erupts. Soon, the whole library starts physically contending with each other
defending their opinion as to which part of the Oreo is best.
A chair is broken across another person's back, racks of books are being pushed over to create a
domino effect onto someone's body, librarians are dodging lamps being hurled across the library,
and people are wrestling each other off the second floor balcony. Even in the midst of all the
mayhem, everyone is still using their whisper voice. As a fire starts to break out from all the turmoil,

Tom Brady Is Better Than Peyton Manning
Tom Brady is obviously better than Peyton Manning in so many ways but the main reason on why
he's a better Quarterback is because Brady has more Super Bowl rings than Peyton Manning and
that is everything to a player. Another thing that will prove that Brady is the superior Quarterback is
that he has the important Stats locked down. Like for example the interception rate, Brady's is
extremely low compared to Peyton Manning and a lot of other Quarterbacks too. Now you know
you're better than Peyton Manning when you go down as the most winningest Quarterback of all
time which Brady is in the regular season and in the playoffs as well. Now with these facts i know
that i can prove Tom Brady is the better Quarterback than Peyton Manning. Thesis Statement: Tom
Brady is a better Quarterback than Peyton Manning because his important stats are better, has more
Super Bowl rings, and has the better Record as a Starting Quarterback in the NFL. The reason why i
think that this is the most important reason why is that a Super Bowl is the main goal heading into a
season and when you achieve that goal five times that's impressive ("Tom", Biography). Which
Peyton Manning has done it twice but that's nothing to Brady. Plus Peyton Manning only played
good in one of those Super Bowls while Brady has never played a bad Super Bowl in his career
("Peyton", Biography). The recent Super Bowl was the Patriots vs Falcons and the final score in that
game was 34–28, it will go down in history as one

Green Bay Packers : 2-0 ( 1 )
1. Green Bay Packers: 2–0 (1) Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have been outstanding in their first
two games. Rogers has been just about perfect, completing 77 percent of his passes thus far. The
defense held the two time defending NFC champs to 17 points and their running back Marshawn
Lynch to 41 yards on 15 carries. Like I mentioned last week, the biggest advantage the Packers have
is their continuity with each other. The team is clicking on all cylinders. Led by Randall Cobb, the
receiving core has been dominant. With weapons like Cobb, James Jones, and Davante Adams on
the outside, who is going to stop this Packers' offense?
2. New England Patriots: 2–0 (2) The Patriots have the biggest non–quarterback difference maker in
the NFL. Rob Gronkowski is an absolute beast of a football player. He is an unstoppable force. He is
impossible to stop. In addition to Gronkowski, Tom Brady looks better than ever. He is playing with
a chip on his shoulder. He, like Rogers has been just about perfect, completing 69 percent of his
passes. An underrated aspect of this team is the running back position, specifically Dion Lewis.
Lewis has been outstanding through the first two games. In each game, Lewis has had at least 11
touches, and has been on the field for 75 percent of New Englands' offensive snaps.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers: 1–1 (5) The Steelers absolutely manhandled the 49ers on Sunday. Antonio

American Football Team Analysis
The Indianapolis Colts are an American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana; they play their

Analysis Of Quiet Strength
Discovery Professional football coach, Tony Dungy, is a man of honor and strength throughout his
book "Quiet Strength". Overall, "Quiet strength" is a memoir of Tony Dungy's life which captures
his discovery of what it means to be a Godly leader, on and off the field. Tony's upbringing set him
up for a lifetime of possibilities which allowed him to go farther than most. In addition, Tony
discovers that listening to God as well as who he has put in our lives will give him peace together
with wisdom through his son's tragic suicide, and media fiascos with players. Personally, I
connected with how honorably Tony handled his son's suicide, especially with the stigma in the
christian community regarding suicide. Tony Dungy's childhood was different than those around
him. His parents raised him with the belief that whatever he wanted he could achieve, including
college while his classmates believed that they would grow up and work at a factory. Tony grew up
in an uneducated town with educated parents who made it their mission to help kids be their best.
For this reason, Tony's upbringing gave him the ability to view the world exceedingly different.
Unlike other coaches, Tony doesn't give up on his players, he sticks with them by trying different
ways of explaining plays. This goes back to his mom's discovery that all students could succeed
with the right instruction, which in turn influenced Tony to see the world a little bit differently than
everyone else. Furthermore,

Football Is Dangerous And Something That Should Not Be...
Football is considered to be dangerous and something that should not be played or watched by
people. The game should be played and watched because a lot of players work hard to fight towards
the ultimate goal of making it in the National Football League despite the possibilities of injury. It is
the player's responsibility to know when it is time for them to walk away and take the proper safety
procedures to keep them from injuring themselves. The players work hard and do plenty of
conditioning to try to keep them in shape and prevent their bodies from breaking down. Many kids
who play do it because they love the game and they gladly take the risk of injury. Football is very
popular for viewers as well. The National Football League saw a rise in ratings following the wild
card weekend this year compared to last years. Many TV networks saw a rise in ratings such as
NBC, CBS, and FOX. According to Michael David Smith of profootballsports.nbcsports.com "
Despite predictions of drops in ratings due to concussions, domestic violence, or other issues the
sport still continues to thrive".The sport is becoming more and more popular and many people
believe we should watch it even though there is problems that make some people not want to watch
the game. Some people believe football should not be watched or played due to injuries and some
players being bad role models towards children. Concussions are a major reason why people believe
football is a bad thing because they can

The Pro Football Hall Of Fame And The Year Of His Death
Abstract
The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his induction into the
Pro Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This speech applies to multiple areas
professional, sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it.
Mr. Lombardi could never have imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over
25 years later. This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate
companies, teams, and individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first
place. His use of repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and
ensures that the point of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. "But I firmly believe that
in any man's finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear – is that moment when he has
worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious."

Following in his father's footsteps, Vince Lombardi carried on a winning tradition. Part of his huge
success was attributed to one of his many inspirational quotes, "'Winning is not a sometimes thing;
it's an all time thing'" (Lombardi, "Vince Lombardi" 18). Leading his team to six world
championship games in eight attempts and only losing one, Vince Lombardi became a coaching
icon. The championship trophy awarded to the winning team has been named the Vince Lombardi
Trophy, honoring the significant impact he had on the early years of this event (Lombardi and
Baucom 17). Just as Lombardi affected the early Super Bowls with his coaching style and character,
the Super Bowl, itself, has attained a greater–than–life presence influencing the world today. With
NBC and CBS being the only two television stations broadcasting the first game, there are now an
uncountable number of stations showing the Super Bowl today. The advertisements are talked about
just as much, if not more, than the game itself. Of all viewers that tune in during the game, eight
percent are only watching to see the commercials; the average cost for a thirty second commercial

The game started out very well for Denver. After forcing Washington to go 3 and out, the Broncos
scored on their first play from scrimmage, when quarterback John Elway threw a 56–yard
touchdown pass to wide receiver Ricky Nattiel, giving Denver a quick 7–0 lead after just 1:57 had
elapsed in the game. It was the earliest touchdown any team had ever scored in Super Bowl history
(this record would be broken by Jerry Rice in Super Bowl XXIX, and later by Devin Hester in Super
Bowl XLI). The Broncos quickly forced Washington to punt, and once again Elway displayed his

Washington advanced to the Denver 27–yard line. Facing third down and 1, with Denver's defense

be a difficult task before reading the descriptions of each. After reading and researching, it is very
clear to me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different sports.
In each nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their given sport.
Even though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society,
there is still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about the societies that is
comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport. Both groups are very

As you can see from author Williams, more and more Americans are adopting England's societal
sports norms. Things happening between the NFL and England's sports society have really taken off
to another level, and make Williams story look like baby steps. This gradual progress aside, at the
end of the day American football will never be as popular (accepted) in England as soccer, just like
soccer will never be as popular as football here in the states. That is the only conclusion that can be
reached to anyone consider the facts fairly. Ultimately, I believe that it will be these cultural
differences that will be the most important obstacle/barrier to the NFL's efforts to expand globally.
The NFL's Effort to Export American Football to International Markets Throughout the history of
the NFL, there have been several attempts at globalizing the league. In the early 1990s, the NFL

The Increasingly Race Nature of Advertisements During the...
Given the popularity and the exuberant price for a 30 second Super Bowl ad is priced over
$4,000,000 (Stauffer, 2013), more and more companies are using racy commercials laced with
sexual innuendoes. The use of super model type females trying to sell products to the average
football fan aged 18–49 (Gilmartin, 2013), using a variety of themes from Sexual assault (Covert,
2013), to the cliché that women are crazy (Covert, 2013), to a sexual fantasy with a make out
session with a Victoria's secret model and a nerd (Taibi, 2013), to waitresses turning into strippers
(Covert, 2013), the list goes on and on; however no matter how the commercial tries to differentiate
itself from the other commercials In the same time slot, one thing Is a common denominator
between all of them and that is sex. The first question to ask yourself is, why are the Super Bowl ads
such a big deal and how long has this phenomena been in place? Since when have people tuned their
T.V's in to watch this game, and how long have people been hosting "Super Bowl watch parties"
for? What makes this one game such an extravaganza? A game that makes people who normally do
not even care to watch the game, nor have any rooting interest in the game, but make sure not to

Narrative Essay: The End Of The Super Bowl
It was a calm, cool day with the wind blowing and the snow dusting the field that the Super Bowl
would be played on in just a few hours. The date was 2–29–17 and everyone was working hard to
get their work done so that the Super Bowl would go smoothly. I personally was preparing for a
party that I was having in a private box at Heinz Stadium with a couple of people. A few hours later
right around the time the Super Bowl was about to be played, a knock came at my door. When I
opened up the door, Peyton Manning was standing there. "Come in, Come in," I said with a smile.
"The game is about to start. There are food and drinks for you and the other guests on the bar over
there." " Thanks for having me," said Peyton. "Speaking of the other guests, where are they?" ...

Persuasive Essay On Sports Vs Sports
With the NFL season coming to a close and the Superbowl a few days away, my friends began
planning on getting together for a Superbowl party. "Awesome!" I thought to myself and offered to
bring food to the party. I went to the grocery store to get food and saw that the store changed its
theme to be Super Bowl themed. I thought this was interesting to see that a little grocery store in the
State College area would change the layout and decorations of the store to appeal to the fans of the
game. As I noticed this, I started thinking about football and the impact it has on regular American
citizens nowadays. No other event this year would make my friends and me get together and hang
out to watch TV together. I assumed that many people are in my position as well. Even those who
are not fans of football tune in to watch the most viewed sporting event of the year ("The NFL").
Football bring both passionate fans and average people together in its own unique way.
I realized that baseball serves the same function as football: promoting togetherness through the
entertainment of the sport. So then why is it that the Superbowl is the most watched sporting event
of the year? Why do my friends not get together to watch between four and seven games of the
World Series? And this led me to the question I want to explore: has football taken over as America's
favorite pastime? Certainly, an argument can be made for both sports, but I now want to have a side
of the debate. I want

The 2016 Super Bowl : An Iconic Game For A Number Of Reasons
The 2016 Super Bowl was an iconic game for a number of reasons. It was the 50th Super Bowl, the
first time a quarterback had won the Super Bowl playing on two different franchise teams, and it
was potentially Peyton Manning's last game . However, among all the excitement of the Super
Bowl, some less than stellar allegations floated back to the surface about Peyton Manning.
According to Jamie Naughright who in 1997 was a trainer at the University of Tennessee, where
Manning played college football, Manning allegedly placed his testicles, buttocks, and rectum on
Naughright's face without her consent in the locker–room. Denying those allegations, Manning
states that he was simply mooning another male player in the locker–room, and Naughtright caught
sight of Manning's bare bottom. Manning further explains that he did not intend for Naughtright to
see him naked. After the alleged assault, Naughright reported the incident to the University and
received little to no support. Manning and the incident itself were never fully investigated, and no
consequences were established. Naughright believes there was such little response to her sexual
assault claim because Manning was the star of the university's football team and their golden boy.
Male collegiate athletes are not the only sex offenders on college campuses but the perpetuation of
rape culture among them is increasing, and both schools and the surrounding communities are
handling the cases improperly. Although rape

Pathos, Pros, And Cons And Uses Of The Hyundai Commercials
One product most people use in their everyday lives are vehicles. I have chosen two commercials,
one advertising the Honda Ridgeline and the other marketing the Hyundai Elantra. In the Honda
commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep, that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The
Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch
your attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their product. Advertisements
use many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos, which
appeals to the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can
see sheep in the pasture singing to "Somebody to Love" after the farmer drives off in his new Honda
Ridgeline. This is very humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from
Queen. Not only are there singing sheep, but there is a talking dog towards the end of the
commercial which tells those who are watching about the Honda Ridgeline ("Honda Ridgeline
Super Bowl Commercial" internet). This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is also very
amusing. The audience can see two women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is
Ryan Reynolds. This shows pathos, because it appeals to the viewers emotions by laughing at the
comical commercial ("Ryanville– Hyundai Super Bowl" internet). Another form of persuasion
commercials use is ethos, which appeals to one's ethics. In the

Even though football players are aware of the dangers the game can bring upon them, they take part

Most importantly this sort of injury is linked to CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy).
CTE is a brain disease found in individuals with annals of head trauma. It has specifically been
found in athletes with numerous concussions. So far it can only be diagnosed in the deceased, but
Dr. Julian Bales and his staff in UCLA have discovered symptoms in living players such as Hall of
Famer Anthony "Tony" Dorsett, Hall of Famer Joe DeLamielleure, and NFL All–Pro Leonard
Marshall. CTE can cause memory loss, dementia, depression, suicidal thoughts, cognitive and
emotional difficulties (Waldron par 1, 2, 3). Is it a compelling issue? A total of 171 concussions
were reported in the NFL in the 2012–2013 season; 88 thus far in the 2013–2014 season (Frontline

either in youth, middle school, high school, or college level. The diagnosis is currently in progress,
researchers are optimistic this could lead to a legitimate treatment, how to manage, and hopefully a
cure. Furthermore, this can also possibly lead to an answer to a connection between football and
chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Junior Seau, Mike Webster, Terry Long, and Justin Strzelczyk (all
of whom are dead now) are all men who played in the NFL for an extent period of time. This is not

Baseball Is America 's National Pastime
The argument over which sport is originally Americas national past time is as enduring and intense
as American sports themselves. Each and every week millions of people tune in to watch their
favorite sports being played. Over the years baseball has traditionally been known as the national
pastime among all sports, but the rich tradition and history behind baseball is still around and
noticed, with that being said, baseball is still referred to as America's national pastime. This can be
attributed to many factors including a superior television product, more controlled violence, and
legalized gambling with fantasy football and baseball.
Each and every week millions of Americans tune in to watch their favorite sports. Basketball,
baseball, football, golf, soccer, and racing all have a place and a market with the sports fans in
America. Over the past two decades, baseball has been left behind while football has become
America's new national pastime (Kendrick, Scott. "Baseball 's Origins –– An Illustrated History Of
Baseball." Baseball.about.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. Page.2). According to Steve Rushin, a

Peyton Manning: Journey to Greatness Essay example
Some people are born with natural god given skills and ability while others who are not that lucky
and have to work twice as hard just to get the same result. And then there are those rare individual
who even though they are born with the talent, they still work just as hard and sometimes even
harder to keep improving. It is called determination and that is a trait that all the great athletes share
and it is what separates the great ones from the just good ones. This is perfect way to describe
Peyton Williams Manning, who is considered to be one of the most prolific passers in NFL history.

was largely viewed as the nation's number one football recruit in his senior season.
"I'm proud to be Archie's son. Being a quarterback, I had my mentor and hero living in the same
house."
In the fall of 1994, Manning enrolled at the University of Tennessee. Over his four–year career,
Manning torched opponents with a big arm and dead–on accuracy, setting an astounding 42
conference, school and NCAA records. In all, he passed for 11,201 yards, registered 863
completions, and connected for 89 touchdowns. Manning also developed a reputation as a voracious
student of the game, poring over game film to analyse his opponents. In 1998, the Indianapolis Colts
selected Manning with the first overall pick in the NFL draft and that would be the moment that
turned the franchise fortunes around. His rookie year, however, was far from perfect. Moments of
brilliance were often followed by bouts of struggle as Manning experienced some expected growing
pains. While establishing new NFL records for completions (326), attempts (575), passing yards
(3,379) and touchdowns (26), he also threw an NFL–leading 28 interceptions for a team that
struggled to a 3–13 finish. In an

Compare And Contrast Tom Brady And Peyton Manning
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have become household names in the past decade or so, and for
good reason. Both of these quarterbacks have shown game in and game out that they are among the
best to ever play. Anyone that knows the slightest bit about American football will know exactly
what someone means when they talk about these two in the Hall of Fame discussion. So what makes
these two quarterbacks different? Well, there is not much. Throughout their storied careers, they
have had to overcome hardships, which only reiterates the point of their G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all
time) status. These players are similar in their play style and records, but are different due to the
adversity and hardships each player has had to overcome. The first and arguably most obvious
similarity between these two players is that they are two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the
position. Regardless if you ask someone that dislikes either of these two, they will most likely agree
that Brady and Manning have become the face of the sport. When they take the field, they are
unquestioned leaders and will always give whatever it takes to push the team to success. Another
glaring similarity between these two quarterbacks is their athleticism and play style. Neither of these
players were gifted with speed. However, they more than make up for their lack of agility with their
throws. Their understanding of the game and the other team's defense allows them to make throws

The Carolina Panthers Analysis
After opening at 5.5 points, the Super Bowl line has settled at around 6.0 with the Carolina Panthers
favored over the Denver Broncos. One would assume the Panthers are favored due in large part to
its 15–1 regular season record and the manner with which it eliminated its playoff opponents Seattle
31–24 and Arizona 49–15. All things considered, it would be prudent to consider whether or not the
Broncos are indeed as much of an underdog as the line indicates. One one hand, the Panthers are
very flashy with its brash young QB in Cam Newton and high scoring offense. On the other side of
the field, the Broncos are led by a strong defense and an aging QB, Peyton Manning, who is
arguably one of the greatest football players in NFL history. To begin the analysis, everyone sans

its own, ranking sixth in the league in both scoring defense (193 PPG) and yards allowed at 322

reasonable. However, the one intangible that can't be factored into the line is Manning's will to win.

The Detroit Lions
This won't be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it's time to trade Calvin Johnson.
Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be
open–minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of
the Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall–of–famer and not
enough logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1.
Calvin isn't getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going
anywhere this year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and
tear and there's a limited amount of time before Calvin's stock precipitously declines. It has been
evident in recent weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and
defenders he used to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive
frame, but no where near the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just
had a dominant performance against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears' defense. This week would
make for a perfect time to sell high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered
away. The thread is thin on Calvin's tires and it's just a matter of time before another nagging injury
resurfaces. 2. Another problematic facet is Calvin's price tag. Megatron still makes an average of

The Birth of the Game of American Football
The National Football League (NFL) is the professional football league that most people recognize
as the giant of American football. However, the game did not begin with a professional level. The
first ever game of football that was played happened on the college level on November 6, 1869. It
took place in New Brunswick, New Jersey and was a game that put Rutgers University against

At that time, players were not allowed to pass the football in the air or run with it down the field.
The only way to move the ball down the field was by batting the ball or dribbling it kind of like you

Vince Lombardi : Visionary And Ethical Leadership
When asked who is the greatest coach to lead a NFL team to the Super Bowl, Vince Lombardi's
name would be mentioned. He took the worst team in the NFL and transformed them to be the best.
His team succeeded to win 6 divisional titles, 5 NFL championships, and 2 back to back Super
Bowls. Vince Lombardi was both a visionary and ethical leader by leading his team through a new
way of systematic thinking and obstacles. In this essay, I will state claims on how he became a
visionary leader. Two core concepts came to play while researching his life. The first was how he
displayed inspirational motivation while guiding his players to the Super Bowl and painting a
vision. Secondly, he displayed team dimensions by knowing how to balance a team and also earning
mutual respect. Later, I will state claims on how he was an ethical leader. First, he used reflective
thinking, system 2 in critical thinking by using some decision making no one has ever used to
ultimately win the Super Bowl. He also used the Three P's (principles, purpose, and people) concept
in the ethical leadership lesson on how he used those three principles to reach a common goal and
display excellence in all we do. Additionally, I will tie his visionary and ethical leadership styles into
my personal relevance and use some examples. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the main
points and end with a couple of quotes.
Visionary Leader Vince Lombardi was a visionary leader in the way he proceeded to

Coach Dungy Uncommon Analysis

  • 1. Coach Dungy Uncommon Analysis The book Uncommon is written by Tony Dungy. Coach Dungy is recognizable because of his Super Bowl victory in 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts. He is an African American coach who believes in putting others before himself, the importance of how people act in everyday life, and surrounding himself with people he can trust. In his book, Dungy goes through chapter–by–chapter describing different morals a person should have. In each chapter, he gives examples of the importance of that moral through stories of his personal and professional life. As a student–athlete, I believe that the morals he lists are admirable and should be held in every player. Coach Dungy always expects the best from his players. Not only does he have high performing football players who are capable of winning the biggest game, but also he has a team full of ethical people. The values he expects the most from each of his players are being humble, being fully committed to the game and having integrity with their actions. Through his actions, Coach Dungy was able to surpass the expectations he held for his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the third chapter, he describes a night before a nerve wracking first game. The night before the game, Dungy invited his brother in law to eat dinner with the whole football team and spend the rest of the evening with them. This gave the brother in law an opportunity to personally know the players and live in their world for one day. When it was time for bed, Dungy was not going to accept his brother in law to sleep anywhere but the one bed in the suite, even though it was necessary that the coach was well rested for the game next day. As cliché as it sounds, actions speak louder than words. Coach Dungy's actions prove of the character that he has developed throughout his life and the good rewards he has earned from acting correctly and putting others before ... • 3. NFL Stadiums : The Causes And Cons Of NFL Stadiums Sports Stadiums are an iconic staple of American tradition. However not everything about these venues is positive. Team owners take advantage of laws and fans to meet their own goals. Citizens and city officials from various locations have taken up their grievances with the NFL in the past. And it has gotten to the point where even political parties join together to bring to light issues with the organization. NFL stadiums are not good for cities because they take advantage of tax payers, hurt citizens on an economic level and cost them billions in subsidies. Sports teams and more importantly the NFL does not always have respect for the city or its people. In some cases the teams have contracts with the city their cities that state the conditions of maintaining the stadiums they play in. In Cincinnati, the Bangles cost the Hamelton County a lot of money. in Hamilton County, where one in seven people lives beneath the poverty line and budget cuts have left gaps in the schools and sheriffs department, residents are bracing for more belt–tightening: rollback of a property–tax break promised as part of a 1996 plan to entice voters to pay for two new stadiums (Wall Street Journal). It pays more for the team than it does on the citizens. In 2013 the team threatened to move to another city if the county did not pay for upgrades to their new stadium. For the second super bowl the city of Glendale had, the mayor was officially uninvited due to a disagreement on the terms of the event. The construction of the stadium that event was held at was the subject of contraversy as well, money.cnn.com reports "Taxpayers paid for most of the University of Phoenix Stadium, which opened in 2006 and is home to this Sunday's Super Bowl –– to the tune of about $300 million.". Citizens of Santa Clara deal with increased traffic in their city for the San Francisco 49rs playing in their city, despite protests from the people. In the end if you try to get in the way of the organization they do not care what position you hold in office, so long as they get their way. Team fandoms are one of many advantages sports teams in the NFL use to ease the financial load on their stadiums. In 2006 the Arizona Cardinals team officials decided ... • 5. Patriots : The Failure Of Football And The NFL he National Football League (NFL) is by far America's most popular sports league. Among the 32 clubs in the league, the New England Patriots are one of the most valuable franchises. From 2000 to 2014, the club claimed 12 division titles, played in nine AFC Conference Championship games, reached five Super Bowls, and lifted the Lombardi Trophy on three occasions. Along with winning, controversy follows closely behind, and the Patriots are not immune to it either. In 2007, the Patriots were caught illegally videotaping opponents, causing the NFL to fine the club and coach Bill Belichick, and taking a draft pick away (McNear, 2017). Ever since then, the Patriots have been under the microscope from the league, media, and fans. Then came January 18, 2015. The Patriots were hosting the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game on a cool rainy Sunday evening. It was just a normal football game until halftime, were behind the scenes at Gillette Stadium, NFL officials were checking the air pressure of footballs. It was thought that the Patriots were deliberately deflating footballs. That moment spiraled into what many refer to as deflategate and becoming one of the leading stories not only in the sports world, but nationally, as NBC and CBS ran stories during their nightly telecast. One of the leading newspapers in the Boston area, the Boston Herald, had a very challenging task on their hands the week following the controversy and leading up to the Super Bowl–that is, how to ... • 9. Tony Dungy 's Quiet Strength Tony Dungy is a highly respected pillar in the athletic community. Breaking barriers throughout his coaching carrier; he was propelled into the spotlight when he became the first African American coach to win a Super Bowl title. Shortly following his victory in Super Bowl XLI came much intrigue into his coaching style and personal life. Many wondering how he gained the respect of all his players and produced positive results while maintaining a calm demeanor. In his book, Quiet Strength, Tony Dungy speaks on the importance of faith and family. Emphasizing the power of prayer, commitment, and patience within faith. As well as the impact of his family on his career, that ultimately changed the path he had preferred for himself. In the first chapter Dungy opens by setting a scene of defeat, being fired from the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. As he took his last stroll throughout the facility he began to wonder what else was in store for him, and had his career in professional football finally come to an end. After all he was a man who lived his life based off priorities. And he did make mention in his book, football was not at the top of his priority list. In this moment, others like it, and the moment succeeding his Super Bowl victory Dungy was repeatedly faced with the deciphering the next step of his career. Often times shying away from the easier and more desirable route, to follow the path of God. It was on this path that Dungy will touch many personally and open the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Green Bay Packers Characteristics The Green Bay Packers are one of the most notable teams in the NFL and all of sports. The four time Super Bowl champions have a few negative qualities, including bad defenses in the past and recent years of unsuccessful playoff runs. However, the negatives do not outweigh the team's powerhouse offense and Super Bowl trophies. The team was founded in 1919 and had very little success until 1929. This is the start of the Green Bay Packers that most people know as "Titletown". From 1929 to present day, the Packers have won 13 championships. That being the most championships won by a single team in NFL history. While the Green Bay Packers are a very successful team, they have had their up's and down's. One of the team's biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300 touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the best seasons ... • 13. The Super Bowl- Human Trafficking Human trafficking is modern day slavery, which leads to kidnapping, drugs, forced sex, forced labor or death. Consequently, many victims which include men as well as women and children from all the countries are being kidnapped, bought and sold against their will, which are odious crimes in the 21st century. Therefore, Abolishing justice in the 21st century (A21) organization made a campaign poster "The Super Bowl– Human Trafficking" contains calculated information that The Super Bowl is known as the largest human trafficking incident in the United States. The notice contains an extemporaneous photo of a woman who runs through a tunnel towards the light. A21 organization strongly believes there are no unscathed people around the world, therefore human beings should work together, and consequently the human trafficking will end. The art director of the poster is unknown; the available information shows that this poster belongs to A21 organization. I retrieved this placard from the internet, from Tina Kaufmann's article "Super Bowl is "single largest magnet for sex trafficking, child prostitution in US", which she published in February 1st, 2013 on the website of WCPO. The intended argument of the placard was to look around as well as to pay attention to what is going on at the time of the Super Bowl, principally, parents need to look after very carefully for their children in an addition to speak up if they notice something suspicious, nevertheless save people from the ... • 15. History of The Super Bowl Essay The impact of the Super bowl has been a phenomenon. In fact, since January 1967 "it has become part of the American culture, which illustrates that it has become the single–most important event in the sporting world currently" (Johnson, Savidge, pp. 83). The Super bowl had quite humble origins, which is why it is shocking to understand as to why this game became vastly popular and remains that way. In fact, one would notice that it is a county fair, a weeklong convention along with an unofficial national holiday with the right game for the television. Therefore, the name of the game is no exaggeration. One can also notice the economic trends and success of the Super Bowl. The economic footprints of this particular game are actually more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, before addressing the history of the Super Bowl and the reasons for it becoming such a mega–scale event, it is important to discuss the National Football League. Importance of Football These are the "not–so–obvious reasons" that make Super Bowl such a popular game, and such an important cultural event. According to McBride (1995), football is able to show violence, blood, groans and grunts in the right way, since there is no 'actual' death. Therefore, war and commerce both find their rationalized version through the ritualistic performance of Football, more specifically Super Bowl in this context. It affirms to the identity of American men that they are real men, who are able to enjoy power and violence and they are not weak. The symbolization of the phallic aggression of war and destruction becomes possible through football (Langman, pp. 75). History about National Football League Without any doubts, the National Football League is considered to be the most popular sports league within the United States. It has a huge amount of prominence on the global sporting landscape. NFL has been able to build Super Bowl into this dynamic event that we see today (Coombs, pp. 93). The League was formed in 1920 and it was only after WWII that it was able to gradually gain the kind of prominence that it has today. It had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Super Bowl : The Nfl Game Of The National Football... "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 50th NFL Super Bowl here in Dallas, Texas at the AT&T Stadium, home of America's team, the Dallas Cowboys," says the commentator. As many Americans obviously know, the Super Bowl is the biggest game of the year in the National Football League and most likely the most watched single game in all of sports in the United States of America. This game is played between the best team of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the best team of the National Football Conference (NFC). As you may know, in football there are many important key players that contribute to team's ability to win. There is the quarterback: who is the main guy who makes the plays happen, the wide receiver: who catches the ball, the running back: the player that runs the ball and can catch at some times, and many more players out there giving it their one hundred percent every time they step out onto the field under those bright football lights. There is one player though, the unsung hero at times that is not usually "famous" or really recognized in the game of American football, the kicker. The kicker is the one that at times is able to win the game for the team with his ability to kick the football from a long range and into the two posts known as the field goal. This player has the capability to even win a super bowl for you at times with perfectly kicked football going through the field goal. Today, I will be going through the different phases of how the kicker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Sexual Exploitation Of Sex Advertising Sexual exploitation is becoming more and more mainstream in advertisements. Everyone knows that sex sells. Especially Carl's Jr. They have developed a reputation with their salacious ad campaigns, often depicting women in very revealing attires. In their recent advertisement for the 2015 Super Bowl, it features model Charlotte Mckinney where she is baring almost everything. There is more to the commercial than just boobs and burgers. The use of Mckinney's body as a sexual object is discriminating to all women and raises sexism. The stereotypical ad brings imparities between genders and promotes gender policing. The attention–grabbing, super sexy "Au Naturel" ad first starts off with the model Mckinney, walking through a farmer's market practically naked while strategically placed items are covering her private areas. She clearly has all the attention of the men at the market. She walks by this one man with a spray hose and he completely turns around to catch a look of Mckinney, who appears fully naked, being covered this time by the spraying water from the hose. She catches another man's attention and is a shot of her bare back with a tomato shaped exactly like her behind, perfectly covering just that. The man then pinches and grabs the side of the tomato. The shot after shows her walking towards a scale where again, a man is perfectly barely covering her up by putting two big melons on a scale to replace her breasts. The last and final shot is when she is walking towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Cookie Or Cream Rhetorical analysis: Cookie or Cream Akeilao Canada Devry University Rhetorical analysis: Cookie or Cream This rhetorical analysis is about the Nabisco company airing a funny commercial during the Super Bowl called "Whisper Fight." Nabisco shows that all 3 appeals do not have to be used in order to create an effective advertisement. The commercial starts off in a two–story library. Two students are seemingly studying at a table of books. One of them holds up an Oreo and whispers to his tablemate, "Ive always preferred the cream part of an Oreo." In a nonchalant whisper, the tablemate replies, "That's insane, the cream is the best part!" From that moment a whisper argument starts. The two tablemates are whispering in reply to each other, "Cream!" , "Cookie!", Cream!" As the whisper exchange escalates, one of them finally stands up and flips the table over. Their aggression is noticed by others and the need to partake in a rumble soon erupts. Soon, the whole library starts physically contending with each other defending their opinion as to which part of the Oreo is best. A chair is broken across another person's back, racks of books are being pushed over to create a domino effect onto someone's body, librarians are dodging lamps being hurled across the library, and people are wrestling each other off the second floor balcony. Even in the midst of all the mayhem, everyone is still using their whisper voice. As a fire starts to break out from all the turmoil, a couple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tom Brady Is Better Than Peyton Manning Tom Brady is obviously better than Peyton Manning in so many ways but the main reason on why he's a better Quarterback is because Brady has more Super Bowl rings than Peyton Manning and that is everything to a player. Another thing that will prove that Brady is the superior Quarterback is that he has the important Stats locked down. Like for example the interception rate, Brady's is extremely low compared to Peyton Manning and a lot of other Quarterbacks too. Now you know you're better than Peyton Manning when you go down as the most winningest Quarterback of all time which Brady is in the regular season and in the playoffs as well. Now with these facts i know that i can prove Tom Brady is the better Quarterback than Peyton Manning. Thesis Statement: Tom Brady is a better Quarterback than Peyton Manning because his important stats are better, has more Super Bowl rings, and has the better Record as a Starting Quarterback in the NFL. The reason why i think that this is the most important reason why is that a Super Bowl is the main goal heading into a season and when you achieve that goal five times that's impressive ("Tom", Biography). Which Peyton Manning has done it twice but that's nothing to Brady. Plus Peyton Manning only played good in one of those Super Bowls while Brady has never played a bad Super Bowl in his career ("Peyton", Biography). Rogers has been just about perfect, completing 77 percent of his passes thus far. The defense held the two time defending NFC champs to 17 points and their running back Marshawn Lynch to 41 yards on 15 carries. Like I mentioned last week, the biggest advantage the Packers have is their continuity with each other. The team is clicking on all cylinders. Led by Randall Cobb, the receiving core has been dominant. With weapons like Cobb, James Jones, and Davante Adams on the outside, who is going to stop this Packers' offense? 2. New England Patriots: 2–0 (2) The Patriots have the biggest non–quarterback difference maker in the NFL. Rob Gronkowski is an absolute beast of a football player. He is an unstoppable force. He is impossible to stop. In addition to Gronkowski, Tom Brady looks better than ever. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder. He, like Rogers has been just about perfect, completing 69 percent of his passes. An underrated aspect of this team is the running back position, specifically Dion Lewis. Lewis has been outstanding through the first two games. In each game, Lewis has had at least 11 touches, and has been on the field for 75 percent of New Englands' offensive snaps. 3. Overall, "Quiet strength" is a memoir of Tony Dungy's life which captures his discovery of what it means to be a Godly leader, on and off the field. Tony's upbringing set him up for a lifetime of possibilities which allowed him to go farther than most. In addition, Tony discovers that listening to God as well as who he has put in our lives will give him peace together with wisdom through his son's tragic suicide, and media fiascos with players. Personally, I connected with how honorably Tony handled his son's suicide, especially with the stigma in the christian community regarding suicide. Tony Dungy's childhood was different than those around him. His parents raised him with the belief that whatever he wanted he could achieve, including college while his classmates believed that they would grow up and work at a factory. Tony grew up in an uneducated town with educated parents who made it their mission to help kids be their best. For this reason, Tony's upbringing gave him the ability to view the world exceedingly different. Unlike other coaches, Tony doesn't give up on his players, he sticks with them by trying different ways of explaining plays. This goes back to his mom's discovery that all students could succeed with the right instruction, which in turn influenced Tony to see the world a little bit differently than everyone else. The game should be played and watched because a lot of players work hard to fight towards the ultimate goal of making it in the National Football League despite the possibilities of injury. It is the player's responsibility to know when it is time for them to walk away and take the proper safety procedures to keep them from injuring themselves. The players work hard and do plenty of conditioning to try to keep them in shape and prevent their bodies from breaking down. Many kids who play do it because they love the game and they gladly take the risk of injury. Football is very popular for viewers as well. This speech applies to multiple areas professional, sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following in his father's footsteps, Vince Lombardi carried on a winning tradition. Part of his huge success was attributed to one of his many inspirational quotes, "'Winning is not a sometimes thing; it's an all time thing'" (Lombardi, "Vince Lombardi" 18). Leading his team to six world championship games in eight attempts and only losing one, Vince Lombardi became a coaching icon. The championship trophy awarded to the winning team has been named the Vince Lombardi Trophy, honoring the significant impact he had on the early years of this event (Lombardi and Baucom 17). Just as Lombardi affected the early Super Bowls with his coaching style and character, the Super Bowl, itself, has attained a greater–than–life presence influencing the world today. With NBC and CBS being the only two television stations broadcasting the first game, there are now an uncountable number of stations showing the Super Bowl today. I thought to myself and offered to bring food to the party. I went to the grocery store to get food and saw that the store changed its theme to be Super Bowl themed. I thought this was interesting to see that a little grocery store in the State College area would change the layout and decorations of the store to appeal to the fans of the game. As I noticed this, I started thinking about football and the impact it has on regular American citizens nowadays. It was the 50th Super Bowl, the first time a quarterback had won the Super Bowl playing on two different franchise teams, and it was potentially Peyton Manning's last game . However, among all the excitement of the Super Bowl, some less than stellar allegations floated back to the surface about Peyton Manning. According to Jamie Naughright who in 1997 was a trainer at the University of Tennessee, where Manning played college football, Manning allegedly placed his testicles, buttocks, and rectum on Naughright's face without her consent in the locker–room. Denying those allegations, Manning states that he was simply mooning another male player in the locker–room, and Naughtright caught sight of Manning's bare bottom. Manning further explains that he did not intend for Naughtright to see him naked. After the alleged assault, Naughright reported the incident to the University and received little to no support. Manning and the incident itself were never fully investigated, and no consequences were established. Naughright believes there was such little response to her sexual assault claim because Manning was the star of the university's football team and their golden boy. In the Honda commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep, that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch your attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their product. Advertisements use many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos, which appeals to the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can see sheep in the pasture singing to "Somebody to Love" after the farmer drives off in his new Honda Ridgeline. This is very humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from Queen. This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is also very amusing. The audience can see two women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is Ryan Reynolds. Baseball.about.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. Page.2). According to Steve Rushin, a respected writer for Sports Illustrated, "to say football has displaced baseball as the national pastime is laughably inadequate, like saying that TV has edged quilting as a popular diversion" ("History: Birth of Pro Football." History: Birth of Pro Football. N.p., n.d. Web. 21 Oct. 2015. Page.1). although baseball is still referred to as America's national pastime, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Peyton Manning: Journey to Greatness Essay example Some people are born with natural god given skills and ability while others who are not that lucky and have to work twice as hard just to get the same result. And then there are those rare individual who even though they are born with the talent, they still work just as hard and sometimes even harder to keep improving. It is called determination and that is a trait that all the great athletes share and it is what separates the great ones from the just good ones. This is perfect way to describe Peyton Williams Manning, who is considered to be one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 24, 1976, Peyton is the son Archie Manning and Olivia Manning. Manning's father, Archie, was a celebrated ... Manning led the football team to a 34–5 record, throwing for more than 7,000 yards, and was largely viewed as the nation's number one football recruit in his senior season. "I'm proud to be Archie's son. Being a quarterback, I had my mentor and hero living in the same house." In the fall of 1994, Manning enrolled at the University of Tennessee. Over his four–year career, Manning torched opponents with a big arm and dead–on accuracy, setting an astounding 42 conference, school and NCAA records. In all, he passed for 11,201 yards, registered 863 completions, and connected for 89 touchdowns. Manning also developed a reputation as a voracious student of the game, poring over game film to analyse his opponents. In 1998, the Indianapolis Colts selected Manning with the first overall pick in the NFL draft and that would be the moment that turned the franchise fortunes around. His rookie year, however, was far from perfect. Moments of brilliance were often followed by bouts of struggle as Manning experienced some expected growing pains. While establishing new NFL records for completions (326), attempts (575), passing yards (3,379) and touchdowns (26), he also threw an NFL–leading 28 interceptions for a team that struggled to a 3–13 finish. • 61. Compare And Contrast Tom Brady And Peyton Manning Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have become household names in the past decade or so, and for good reason. Both of these quarterbacks have shown game in and game out that they are among the best to ever play. Anyone that knows the slightest bit about American football will know exactly what someone means when they talk about these two in the Hall of Fame discussion. So what makes these two quarterbacks different? Well, there is not much. Throughout their storied careers, they have had to overcome hardships, which only reiterates the point of their G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all time) status. These players are similar in their play style and records, but are different due to the adversity and hardships each player has had to overcome. The first and arguably most obvious similarity between these two players is that they are two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the position. Regardless if you ask someone that dislikes either of these two, they will most likely agree that Brady and Manning have become the face of the sport. When they take the field, they are unquestioned leaders and will always give whatever it takes to push the team to success. Another glaring similarity between these two quarterbacks is their athleticism and play style. Neither of these players were gifted with speed. However, they more than make up for their lack of agility with their throws. Their understanding of the game and the other team's defense allows them to make throws that would look close to ... • 65. The Carolina Panthers Analysis After opening at 5.5 points, the Super Bowl line has settled at around 6.0 with the Carolina Panthers favored over the Denver Broncos. One would assume the Panthers are favored due in large part to its 15–1 regular season record and the manner with which it eliminated its playoff opponents Seattle 31–24 and Arizona 49–15. All things considered, it would be prudent to consider whether or not the Broncos are indeed as much of an underdog as the line indicates. One one hand, the Panthers are very flashy with its brash young QB in Cam Newton and high scoring offense. On the other side of the field, the Broncos are led by a strong defense and an aging QB, Peyton Manning, who is arguably one of the greatest football players in NFL history. To begin the analysis, everyone sans Carolina ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the season, he ran or passed for 4,473 yards while accounting for 45 TDs and only 10 interceptions. It was his ability to finally grasp a leadership role that led to the Panthers huge turn around from a 7–8–1 season recorded in 2014. Also, the Panthers have a defense that more than held its own, ranking sixth in the league in both scoring defense (193 PPG) and yards allowed at 322 YPG. With a marginal advantage on defense and a big deficit on offense, the 6–point line seems reasonable. However, the one intangible that can't be factored into the line is Manning's will to win. A man doesn't retire from the NFL as its leader in passing yards and TDs by accident. The Broncos might be an underdog, but gamblers should proceed with caution. This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate companies, teams, and individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first place. His use of repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. • 69. The Detroit Lions This won't be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it's time to trade Calvin Johnson. Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be open–minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of the Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall–of–famer and not enough logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1. Calvin isn't getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going anywhere this year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and tear and there's a limited amount of time before Calvin's stock precipitously declines. It has been evident in recent weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and defenders he used to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive frame, but no where near the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just had a dominant performance against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears' defense. This week would make for a perfect time to sell high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered away. The thread is thin on Calvin's tires and it's just a matter of time before another nagging injury resurfaces. 2. Another problematic facet is Calvin's price tag. Megatron still makes an average of more than two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Vince Lombardi : Visionary And Ethical Leadership When asked who is the greatest coach to lead a NFL team to the Super Bowl, Vince Lombardi's name would be mentioned. He took the worst team in the NFL and transformed them to be the best. His team succeeded to win 6 divisional titles, 5 NFL championships, and 2 back to back Super Bowls. Vince Lombardi was both a visionary and ethical leader by leading his team through a new way of systematic thinking and obstacles. In this essay, I will state claims on how he became a visionary leader. Two core concepts came to play while researching his life. The first was how he displayed inspirational motivation while guiding his players to the Super Bowl and painting a vision. Secondly, he displayed team dimensions by knowing how to balance a team and also earning mutual respect. Later, I will state claims on how he was an ethical leader. First, he used reflective thinking, system 2 in critical thinking by using some decision making no one has ever used to ultimately win the Super Bowl. He also used the Three P's (principles, purpose, and people) concept in the ethical leadership lesson on how he used those three principles to reach a common goal and display excellence in all we do. Additionally, I will tie his visionary and ethical leadership styles into my personal relevance and use some examples. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the main points and end with a couple of quotes. Visionary Leader Vince Lombardi was a visionary leader in the way he proceeded to ...
