The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper Is To Characterize
The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts, main techniques, and any
current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual theory. While the purpose of
this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not addressed in class sessions,
contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family therapy in prior literature) is
not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan Boszormenyi Nagy s contextual
theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an individual s challenges in relation
to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to draw attention to his empirically based
findings from over 40 years of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client experiences
the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy stretches facts to
include those details about world views that are a product of our own created reality that is culminated
by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into what family they are born
into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each other around that child, such
that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could create for the child a fact that
unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since
there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present, contextual therapy accounts for facts that
may be present that the client may not be able to bring to their conscience or that they may be
unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte,
2011).
Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy,
such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the parts
of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal
conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory with the other

Verification Of Motion Lab
Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion
Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the
acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to
its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to
measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains
constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship:
Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the
weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added
to the hook, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A smart pulley is clamped onto the side of the table and connected to a computer to sync with
Capstone. In Capstone, select the device as Photogate with Pulley. Set up a position vs time graph to
record data for. Attach a string to the cart, over the smart pulley, and latch it onto a 5g hook to the side
of the table. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place,
keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart
pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart
before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge.
Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight
and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the
remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move
quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. Make
sure to remove unwanted data, such as the initial motionless state of the cart and the adrupt halt of its
motion. The acceleration of the system is two times the value of the A constant in the curve fit; record
this and do this for all trials.

After 5 trials, the data was shown to be positively

And Here My Troubles Began, By Art Spiegelman
Anja kept this picture always. I have it still now in my desk! On page 134 of MAUS II: And Here My
Troubles Began by Art Spiegelman, Spiegelman uses a real picture of his father as demonstrating how,
as Art exclaims in the book, Incredible it is through the history of Anja, state of Vladek in his older
age, and the physical placement of the image on the page. As Art continues to talk about his novel
with his father Vladek tells how his past wife Anja had received a picture of him after not have seen

Founding Brothers By Joseph Ellis
In the book, Founding Brothers by Joseph J. Ellis the founding fathers have impacted the world
together. In our nation the founding fathers include Abigail and John Adams, Aaron Burr, Benjamin
Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington. Joseph
Ellis uses this book to argue that all of the founding fathers knew each other personally, had diverse
personalities. Joseph Ellis goes in to great detail about how the founding fathers know each other
personally. They would spend endless hours debating on political material, and fighting over
important matters. Alexander Hamilton and George Washington s friendship is one example of this
thesis. They were the main importance of the Federalist Party being created. ... Show more content on

The kernel of truth in Hamilton s distinction between personal and political criticism of burr resides
here. In sense that is was an accurate statement of Hamilton s assessment. Burr s reputation as a
notorious womanizer or as a lavish spender who always managed to stay one step ahead of his
creditors did not trouble Hamilton. The only thing that did worry Hamilton was the ominous fit
between Burr s political skills and the opportunities for mischief so clearly available in a nation whose
laws and institutions were still congealing. The problem with Hamilton s distinction, however, was
that the putative barrier between personal and political criticism, or private and public behavior, kept
getting overwhelmed by real choices. This was a crucial moment in developing America s personality.
Burr finally stepped up and did what was finest for the Nation. Hamilton s personality was also
essential for the hard situations. The personality difference was a huge significance, it made the
founding fathers more substantial and have closer relationships with each

Ojibwe Creation Myths
A Whole New World
Part A: Eternal inflation is an alternative theory of creation that is a modification of the Big Bang
Theory. The earliest universe was expanding matter, and particles that were next to each other would
routinely be sent whizzing away to the farthest reaches of their cosmological horizons. It is no longer
like that, however, as the inflation stopped. The theory of eternal inflation is that the expansion did not
stop all at once. Rather, little bubbles of space randomly stopped inflating, or fell onto trajectories that
led to the end of their inflation. And, since the expansion is rapid, the inflating space creates more
space than the bubbles that stop inflating lose so inflation never ends. The result is an ever expanding
multiverse, which means not only is Earth not the center of the universe but our universe isn t the
center of the universe.
Part B: The Ojibwa are an Aboriginal people in Canada. The creation story of the Ojibwa starts with
nothing except a dark void; however, although there was nothing, there was possibility. This means
although there was nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both stories start with nothing, but from the nothingness the Ojibwa believe there is one all powerful
being and the Māroi believe there are two. This is where the differences become more prominent,
because the Māroi story depicts the beings as being almost human like: they give birth and have flaws,
flaws which lead to eventual conflict. The Ojibwa, however, depict a being of unfathomable power
and wisdom whose vision should be altered by no one. The real difference, however, is most
prominent today. The first two beings of Māroi culture, Rangi and Papa, are not worshipped with the
intensity that the Ojibwa allow Kitchi Manitou. The Māroi believe there were flaws and the offspring
are the true creators of existence, while the Ojibwa believe everybody is still a part of Kitchi Manitou

The Evolution Of Oled Displays
In the modern era of Graphical Display Technology, there has been a rapid advancement. With arise of
CRTs; there came an existence for the world of displays. Soon after, various research and development
in the field of displays gave the cutting edge technologies such as LCDs, LEDs, and Plasma Displays.
In such scenario, a display ability to produce deep, dark blacks and crisper colors are arguably the
most important factor in achieving excellent picture quality. Deeper blacks allows for higher contrast
and richer colors, and thus a more realistic and dazzling image. When it comes to black levels, OLED
reigns as the undisputed champion. OLEDS stands for Organic Light Emitting Diodes. OLEDs are

The proposed mechanism was field accelerated electron excitation of molecular fluorescence. Roger
Partridge made the first observation of electroluminescence from polymer films at the National
Physical Laboratory in the United Kingdom. The device consisted of a film of poly (N vinylcarbazole)
up to 2.2 micrometers thick located between two charge injecting electrodes. The results of the project
were patented in 1975 and published in 1983. The first practical OLEDs: American physical chemist
Ching W. Tang and Steven Van Slyke at Eastman Kodak built the first practical OLED device in
1987.This device used a two layer structure with separate hole transporting and electron transporting
layers such that recombination and light emission occurred in the middle of the organic layer; this
resulted in a reduction in operating voltage and improvements in efficiency. 3. Evolution: The
discovery of the electroluminescence in organic crystals by Martin Pope and his research group in
1963 has opened a new era, especially in the field of OLEDs. However, the development of organic
electroluminescence based devices is very slow due to the requirement of high voltage as well as for
low efficiency. About 29 years ago, in 1987, Ching W. Tang and Steve Van Slyke have discovered the
first efficient light emitting device based

Berkeley s Argument For The Dismissal Of Material Objects...
To be just is to be perceived , or as Irish philosopher George Berkeley prefers to put it, esse est percipi
. In this argument, Berkeley details extensively how material objects, as humans have come to know
them, do not exist. Berkeley uses a series of premises to aid in the elimination of skepticism
surrounding the existence of the world humans have come to know and grow fond of. At first read,
Berkeley s conclusion that the abstract ideas of substance, matter, or any physical objects simply are
not real is very hard to grasp when humans have based their justifications on what is real versus not
real on their own senses, and the validation of other people. However, Berkeley does an excellent job
of making an argument one cannot refute. In order to fully understand Berkeley s argument for the
dismissal of material objects, one must understand his preceding argument on abstract ideas.
According to Berkeley, the existence of abstract ideas is actually a myth. Humans tend to generalize
concepts, such as the general idea of a table, a car, or a triangle, for example. However, Berkeley
claims in his argument that there is no explainable way to have a general idea of anything. So if
someone tells another to think of a table, that person will have a very specific picture of a very
specific table maybe a brown dining table with large, carved wooden legs, or a plastic folding table.
There is not one table that has all of the characteristics of a table and none of them at the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease
Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand
years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of
medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors.
These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and
although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism
at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a
disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person
believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease
is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is
triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other
hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease
and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary
example of hypochondriasis. Celiac disease is a very real, documented medical phenomenon while
NCGS, with little proof of its actual existence, is nothing more than a placebo that has started to affect
(for the most part) those in Western society.
Glutenin is a protein which gives bread dough its

Ethnic and Religious Conflict in Nigeria
Analysis of the challenges of religion and ethnicity on political stability in Nigeria s fourth republic
(1999 2011)
INTRODUCTION
Background to the Study
Basically, Nigeria is a plural society and heterogeneous in virtually all the facet of life. The custom
and tradition of Nigerians is so diverse to the extent that Nigeria as a country is now confronted with
the problem of religion and ethnicity towards their political stability.
The origin and history of ethnic conflict (societal wars and violence) can be traced from eternal
(internal) state rivalry to external (physical). And its root cause is not very far from power competition
and decision making over economic resources and other important human factor, like position. The ...

This article is focused on the historical incidents of ethnic conflicts in within Nigeria societies, the
cause of the conflicts and perhaps, the government actions towards ethnic conflict in the country. In
conclusion, this paper will explore into decision making (by the elites and those in authority) process
has contributed immensely in generating the syndromes of conflict in the said state.
The Nigerian political situation has witnessed more breaking of heads, than counting them. In fact,
even when it has been convenient for heads to be counted, the outcome has always been the breaking
of heads instead. Conflict in Nigeria is so intense because of lack of democratic behaviour. The head
of the individual in the democratic context signifies citizenship. So when heads are broken in the
Nigerian political community, the issue in respect of broken heads is citizenship. If conflict in Nigeria
means the absence of democratic behaviour, it follows, therefore, that conflict in Nigeria is interwoven
with the absence of democratic governance. Gurr (2000): has also shown that the incidence of
conflicts at the global level declined in recent years with the deepening of democratisation. Nation
states where conflicts persist are those where what obtains is the democratisation of disempowerment
(Ake 1996). Beyond the veneer of elections, the state remains ambushed, privatised, repressive and
unpopular. The people who were tantalised by the

First Conceptualised By Keith Hart In 1973, The Notion
First conceptualised by Keith Hart in 1973, the notion of informality is broadly defined as explaining
activities which fall beyond the regulation of the state, often resulting from the absence of one or more
forms of state... regulation (Sinha and Kanbur, 2012:2). However, according to McFarlane and Waibel
(2012), informality itself is a nebulous term due to its wide reaching focus from poverty to
marginality, from livelihoods to inequality. They describe informality as more of a metaphor rather
than a concept due to the fluidity and uncertainty of the term, however, they do agree that informality
plays a crucial role not only in the global South, but beyond (McFarlane and Waibel, 2012:1). In many
instances, the state itself has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stagnation of the global Southern countries in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa occurred
in the 1970s and 80s when these countries found themselves trapped by levels of debt to international
public and commercial banks (Williams, 1994:214). Fearing another global depression, large banks
and organisations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) embarked upon structural
adjustment programs (SAPs) in these heavily indebted countries with the aim of restructuring their
traditional economies seen in the global North as symptoms of backwardness (Moser, 1994). The
ability to qualify for monetary aid from the global North was conditional on the adoption of a range of
policies (Craig and Porter, 2003:60) set out by these organisations believed to be necessary for debt
sustainability; central to which was the theory of neoliberalism . The first main condition was the
devaluing of the local currency, intended to encourage exports and limit imports (Williams, 1994),
with the second policy agreement being the reduction in the size of the government bureaucracy. The
initial reason for the debt pile up in these countries was seen as being due to governmental
mismanagement, and therefore money was allocated for the restructuring of the state governments in
order to correct their inefficiency. As a result of the withdrawing

Funeral services are for the living, who are mourning, and not for the dead, who are unaware. To me, a

Playing Roller Hockey Essay
Playing Roller Hockey
Throughout my lifetime, many different goals have been set and achieved, but the most significant
goal I accomplished was making the Foothill Grizzlies hockey team. Playing hockey, by far, is one of
my favorite things to do. Whether I am playing for fun in a pickup game or against a top team in the
state, hockey is what I love to do.
The Foothill Grizzlies were a roller hockey team that was formed when I was about the age of 13. I
had heard many good things about the team, which at the time was one of the most respected teams in
the state of California. Coached by a man named Jon Adimack, the team had won most of the
tournaments and leagues they entered in. Hearing about this team and ... Show more content on

I played defense, and almost everyone on the team was an offensive player. They were all happy to see
a defenseman who could play well and help the team out, especially the goalie. Facing many shots a
game; he liked the idea of somebody else trying to stop the puck, before it reached him. I was able to
consistently play defense very well in games and tournaments. Often times, we would have to play
four games a day, because that s how the tournaments worked. Games were only on one day, and if
you won, you kept playing, until you lost and were knocked out from competition. I was able to play
just as well in the fourth and championship games then I did in the opening game. My level of play
increased a great amount over the years I played with the Grizzlies.
The team continuously won the games and tournaments we entered, until we were invited to Las
Vegas for a Southern United States Tournament. We all drove out together as a team, and played in the
tournament against the best teams in the South US. Our team won its first game and was forced to
play our rivals, the Brea Bulldogs. This team had been giving us trouble, as we were identical in skill.
The game started well and we began to dominate. We ended up winning five to three, and knocked
them out of competition. We went through the rest of our competition, and entered the championship
game for the South US. We played a team from Arizona called the

Jonathan Kozol The Shame Of The Nation Analysis
Award winning writer and public lecturer, Jonathan Kozol wrote an essay that was published in Harper
s Magazine and was also adapted from his book, The Shame of the Nation: The Restoration of
Apartheid Schooling in America. This essay essentially discusses the injustice of the school systems
and how predominately white districts thrive while African American districts are left without basic
needs.
Kozol uses of New York City as an example of the unfair financial inconsistencies towards specific
counties or cities in the state. The author argues, the gross discrepancies in teacher salaries between
the city and its affluent white suburbs have remained persistent (354). He continues his argument
stating that the median salary for teachers in an African American community in 1997 was $43,000
while in suburban white communities the salary was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, at the opposite extreme along the economic spectrum in New York are numerous children
who receive no special opportunities of superb schooling programs simply because they are not as
financially fortunate as their white counterparts (Kozol 354 355). To reason with this iniquitous
reality, Kozol quotes Marian Warner, a novelist who has written several books for children, stating,
There are expensive children and there are cheap children, just as there are expensive women and
cheap women (354). Kozol continues by explaining that governmentally administered degradation in
the value of children in poor communities fundamentally begins before the age of five, which would
be when they would start their years in formal education in public education. In actuality, in begins
during infancy, when a populous amount of children are born into poor districts and are locked out of
the opportunities privileged children are

Workplace Diversity Within The Workplace
As companies become more diverse in the work field employees are getting harder to manage and
understand. One issue in the global market today is workplace diversity. Workplace diversity is
defined as all characteristics and experiences that defined each employee as individuals, but it can also
be misunderstood as discrimination against employees. Diversity can include race, ethnicity, sex,
religion, disability and sexual orientation discrimination. One reason why workplace diversity is
important is because when you respect your employees productivity rate rises and many companies do
not know that. A diverse workplace targets to create an inclusive culture that values and uses the
talents of all employees.
Evolution of Workplace Diversity In 1964 the civil rights act made it illegal for employment
organizations to practice discrimination in the workplace. Based on race, ethnicity, sex, religion,
disability and sexual orientation. In 1965 congress pass an executive order which was 11246 it
required contractors to taker affirmative actions and to ensure all employees are getting the same
treatment in the workplace. These laws eliminated discrimination of certain classes in the workplace
and organizations that did not abide by employment fair labor treatment laws were fine or shut down.
Even though some organizations became more diverse the change was slow over time because of
certain classes of workers. In order to establish workplace diversity companies began to establish

Evolution Of The Traditional Family In The 1950 s
Emily Hodack

3/14/17
Discussion 9 Nuclear family is defined as familial form consisting of a father, a mother, and their
children (Conley, 2015, p. 453). This type of family was considered the traditional family in American
society in the 1950s. The traditional family was when the man worked outside the home and the wife
stayed at home and tended to the home and children. Also the idea of the traditional family has
changed, especially with the rate of divorce and single parents increasing. The divorce rate has been
steadily rising since the nineteenth century, as divorce became less and less of a social and religious
taboo (Conley, 2015, p. 456).
Now in the U.S. there are different types of families such as blended, where

Climate Change is one of the chief problems that the world is struggling right now. It is estimated that
every decade, the world s temperature is increasing by 1ºC and this phenomenon is called global
warming. An evident example of global warming is the melting of the polar ice caps. Compare to the
past hundred years, the size of the polar ice caps has reduced which resulted to the rise of the sea
levels and eventually destroying the homes of those people living near the seaside. Another
consequence is the increasing number of dangerous typhoons. A typhoon starts from a low pressure
area in the oceans and because the temperature of the water is increasing due to global warming, more
low pressure areas are formed. Next, another effect of global warming is the widespread extinction of
some animals. Many animals in the Arctic and Antarctic region have migrated to other places but
some of them cannot stand the heat and they died. While under the sea, many fishes have also been
extinct because the coral reefs have been destroyed in the process called coral bleaching. Lastly, a
common evidence of global warming is the failure of cultivated crops. Many lands have dried up and
have fissures because there is no water left especially on the season of El Niño which lead to hunger
and increase in demand of food. The Ozone Layer is a region in the Earth s stratosphere which serves
as a protective layer against the sun s ultraviolet rays and prevents the escape of oxygen (O2) from the

12 Angry Men Rhetorical Analysis
One of the most valuable abilities an individual can possess is dauntlessness and the art of persuasion.
In the film 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose, twelve members of the jury must determine and issue a
final decree on whether an inner city teenager is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or not guilty of his
father s murder. Despite the numerous factual evidence provided, a majority of the jurors are
convinced without reasonable doubt that the young boy is guilty and should be sentenced to death.
These abilities are undoubtedly illustrated when one juror decides to stand against eleven jurors in
transforming the fate of the teenage boy. The individual is Juror 8. He utilizes the act of courage to
stand against the other jurors in what he believes is an unfair judgment and also uses persuasion to
alter their decisions. Through analyzing juror 8 s dialogue and his employment of rhetorical
techniques with each juror, the readers can discern his unique traits of courage and persuasion. First,
Let s examine Juror 8 s demeanor. He appears to be a gentle, quiet and an astute man. In the initial
jury vote, he is the only juror that votes not guilty while the rest votes guilty. Thus, he exhibits that he
is a man that values justice and is willing to fight for it. His display of dubitatio is recognized when he
says, I don t know whether I believe it or not. Maybe I don t. (Lumet Rose, 1957). He is uncertain
whether the boy is innocent or guilty but merely seeks the truth. He further states that it is not easy for
him to send a boy off to die without talking about it first (Lumet Rose, 1957). While justifying to Juror
7 why he cast a not guilty vote, Juror 8 utilizes pathos to sway the jurors. Look, this boy s been kicked
around all his life. You know, living in a slum, his mother dead since he was nine. That s not a very
good head start, he says (Lumet Rose, 1957). Juror 8 points to the boy s poor upbringing in a bid to
persuade the others to reconsider discussing the case before making a hasty judgment. He also uses his
moderate touch and amiable expressions to calm Juror 9 from the comments made by Juror 10.
Consequently, it is apparent that Juror 8 s attitude in determining facts to the

Dance Team Philosophies
Since I have been in this class I have gotten the opportunity to hear about many different directing
styles and team philosophies. This semester I got a chance to listen to Abby Payne, Tracey Anderson,
and Kellie Jackson Jandt. From listening to their experiences and drawing back on my own
experiences I have learned a lot about how I would want to lead my team. Abby Payne at Lake Travis
High School claims her team is all about the show. They do football, contest, and spring show but
spring show is the team s favorite. One thing that seemed unique about her team is that they devote an
entire group or the Elite team to preparing the dancers who want to dance collegiately. This is a great
idea when you are in an area like Lake Travis because those dancers work hard in both academics and
dance so they are more likely to attend prestigious schools that have excellent dance teams. It is a
wonderful that Abby is taking steps to set them up for success in their future. Another thing that is
interesting to me is that Abby encourages them to be in other organizations and to involve themselves
in other things besides dance team so they can build their resumes. From my experience a lot of
directors prefer their dancers keep the dance team as the number one priority and to not make too
many other time commitments that take away from their devotion to the team. It s very generous of
Abby to allow the kids to take these opportunities to further prepare them for their future. The thing

Understanding the body s reaction to starvation is necessary.
Food service director Karen Rubin said, if you don t eat foods for long hours, the brain thinks that you
are going to starve, as a result the body consumes more cholesterol and fat for storing energy. In the

Inhumanity Of Torture
Inhumanity of Torture I struggled without success to breathe I thought I was going to die. I lost control
of my urine. (Abu Zubaydah) Many detainees are faced with acts of torture in order to obtain
information. The detainees are deprived of their dignities, beaten with approved methods of physical
contact, and threatened. Torture isn t justified by any means. It affects people physically and mentally,
it s inhumane, and against the 8th Amendment. Torture isn t justified because it affects people
mentally and physically. Often detainees fears are used against them. The use of insects inside the box

The Eighth Amendment states, excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor
cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Although it s unclear on how to measure the cruelty on a
punishment, many torture methods are undoubtedly, cruel and unusual. For example, rectal feeding
and rehydration. According to a CIA cable released in the report, his lunch tray consisting of hummus,
pasta with sauce, nuts and raisins was pureed and rectally infused . (Olivia Laughland) Detainees,
Majid Khan and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were both subjected to rectal feeding. Mohammed was
also subjected to rectal rehydration without any medical purpose. The definition of cruel is to willfully
cause pain or suffering to others, and the definition of unusual is not commonly occurring or done.
With that being said, those acts of torture are unquestionably, considered cruel and unusual being they
both are causing pain in an uncommon way as a form of punishment. On the other hand, some believe
torture is justified. They may argue that it s important to do whatever it takes to get the information
needed, or to save the lives of others. It could also be viewed as justice for the crimes that have been
committed. An argument some have is that the ends justify the means. The end does not justify the
means. It s about being the better person and having everyone feel safe and secure in a place where

Andy Warhol Pop Artists
During the mid 1950 s, an art movement called Pop art began in Britain and then spread to the United
States by the late 1950 s. Pop art is created to display emotions instead of to show the actual piece of
art. This mass cultural art movement emerged in Britain, the United States, Spain, Japan, Italy,
Belgium, Netherlands, and Russia. This movement allowed artists to break the old traditions of
abstract expressionism and create new and different ideals of art with no limit. Pop art was often used
in advertising for magazines and newspapers. Two of Pop art s major artists were Andy Warhol and
Roy Lichtenstein who created art in similar but also different ways.
Andy Warhol was an American Pop artist. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 6,
1928. He died on February 22, 1987, in New York, New York. His parents were Czechoslovakian
immigrants named Ulja and Ondrej Warhola. He was a very smart child, but he suffered from a
nervous disorder. This caused him to often stay home which lead him to collect pictures and listen to
the radio about current events. All of this created his love for pop culture and modern celebrities.
When he was sixteen years old, he graduated from high school and went to Carnegie Institute of
Technology. When he graduated in 1949, he went to live in New York City and became a commercial

Sean reads a note from Will: Sean, if the Professor calls about that job, just tell him, sorry, I have to go

but discovering a direction through guidance of his psychologist, Sean Maguire. Will Hunting, the
protagonist of the classic film, has a gift for mathematics, however, Will is stuck between picking a

individual lives are so different. First, it is true that Fortinbras and Laertes serve as foils in Hamlet. A
foil is a character that is quite different from another character bringing out noticeable difference,
bringing to light those specific differences in the other character. Fortinbras and Laertes suffer the
same loss as Hamlet, which is the murder of their individual fathers. Each of these men handles it in

involved in habitat mitigation include non governmental organization and specifically, non profit

until 1992, had participated in tern conservation. However, the Navy hindered the efforts to make the
site into a wildlife refuge, by refusing to transfer the site to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The
transfer refusal was mainly about site contaminants, which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service did not
want to accept responsibility for due to the fact that the Navy has a much larger budget than the Fish

Advantages And Limitations Of Genetic Algorithm
1. Introduction
The most popular technique in evolutionary computation research has been the genetic algorithm. In
the traditional genetic algorithm, the representation used is a fixed length bit string. Each position in
the string is assumed to represent a particular feature of an individual, and the value stored in that
position represents how that feature is expressed in the solution. Usually, the string is evaluated as a
collection of structural features of a solution that have little or no interactions . The analogy may be
drawn directly to genes in biological organisms. Each gene represents an entity that is structurally
independent of other genes. The main reproduction operator used is bit string crossover, in which two
strings are used as parents and new individuals are formed by swapping a ... Show more content on

Online Education Vs Traditional Education
Online Education Vs Traditional Education
In the present world, there are a lot of options for a student to choose for his education. Each and
every student learning technique are different and learn differently and in today s world of increasing
technology, the question will be whether to offer classes or take up classes online, but rather how to
implement them effectively and efficiently. Hence a student must have to weigh a huge list of pros and
cons before they choose one of the two options, since the means of education for these are different.
Students have an opportunity to plan their own study time, if they choose online classes instead of
other way round where the university will decide the class time or lecture time. Online classes can be
taken at their own pace, sitting at their own home or at any place they feel comfortable, on the
contrary students should physically attend classes as per the time prescribed by the professor, live near
to the campus. In the online classes there is more flexibility than traditional classroom because you
can do your coursework any time of the day or night without having a set schedule when you have to
do your coursework. There are so many people that are choosing to further their education by taking
online courses instead of traditional classroom because of their busy work schedules. Professors

important to define the different terms. According to Wright, the supply chain can be defined as the

The research market In B2B, Wright states that the pressure to get industrial products with the right
benefits to market ahead of the competition is the main concern (Wright 2004). Secondary researches
such as the market, the trends are more used than primary researches as organisations activity is based
on economic and industrial trend. In B2B, there is a focus on making the products matching the
consumer demand. Secondary researches are needed but primary researches about consumers
psychology are more important as their wants and needs are changing over the years. (Minett 2002)
2.5. The segmentation In B2B, customers are segmented by industry and individual company needs as
they are not numerous. There are two types of segmentation, the macro segmentation and the micro
segmentation. Both must provide the supplier with added value to offer. The macro segmentation uses
different factors: it distinguishes one sector from another, one industry from another and one type of
organisation from another (Wright 2004). Segmentation is by: · type of market: industrial and/or
consumer markets · geographical area · type of industries: manufacturing, service or agricultural
industries · public, private or not for profit sector · small, medium or large companies · products and

The American Legal System Of The United States
The American Legal System
Desiree Brown
Kaplan University
The American Legal System
In the American legal system there are two different areas of government, federal and state; it is called
federalism. Together they work to enforce the laws of the United States. Each court system, however,
is divided into many different layers. The federal courts have limited jurisdiction as opposed to the
state courts that are of general jurisdiction. Federal and state governments are both divided into three
different branches, the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The written constitutions of the
two courts form a system of separate power and checks and balances between the branches.
The federal courts work completely different from the state courts. The federal system is divided into
three main levels, the district courts, the circuit courts, and the supreme court of The United States.
The main difference for civil cases versus criminal cases is the type of cases that are actually able to
be heard within this court system. These courts can only handle cases that have been authorized by the
United States Constitution or federal statutes, giving them limited jurisdiction. The federal court is the
beginning for any case that rises under federal statutes, treaties, or The Constitution. (Introduction to
the Federal Court System, n.d.) The district courts are basically the trial courts. They consist of one

new and go on baby fly are taunting Michaels protective instinct for his sister. They are almost testing
him seeing how far they can take him. When Michael sees the great bare patches on her skin it implies
that she is weak that she is not strong enough to fly. She teetered on the brink indicates Michaels
worries of close she is to falling or how close she is to dying. Almond describes that baby being
covered in feathers and being warm and soft. These are some characteristics of skellig. At this point
almond is connecting the baby to skellig. He is suggesting that michael is also worried about skellig
dying, he is also teetering on the

Richard IIi, By William Shakespeare
Children bring out the underlying disposition and wicked intentions we all possess. Richard III, by
William Shakespeare, is a tragic play about the Duke of Gloucester who desires to be the king of
England. He does this through the manipulation and murder of many characters, including Queen
Elizabeth s children, Prince Edward and the Duke of York. These children emphasize some of the
adult themes in the play and reveals the devastating nature of these themes. Their characteristics and
deaths all contribute to the emphasis of these themes. Critics Marie Hélène Bisnaught and Michel
Bito, and Vincent Walsh all agree that the murder of Prince Edward and the Duke of York was an
atrocious deed.
Prince Edward and the Duke of York are innocent, precious, and witty. These traits the children
acquire truly highlights the extent of their deaths. Both these children are well beyond their years. This
clear when the Duke of York says I could have given my uncle s grace a flout, / To touch his growth
nearer than he d touched mine (Act II, Scene IV, Line 24 25). The young duke cleverly insults his
uncle s height and manners essentially saying that Richard is a short, disrespected man. The children s
innocence is also evident through the perspective of their mother and uncle. In the scene when Richard
III greets his nephew, Prince Edward, he says Sweet prince, the untainted virtue of your years / Hath
not yet dived into the world s deceit (Act III, Scene I, Line 7 8). Prince

Barcelona And Real Brid Comparison
Barcelona and Real Madrid have been rivals since the beginning of soccer itself. They have always
clashed and they both have some of the biggest fan bases throughout the world. Although Barcelona
and Real Madrid have similar offense and defense they are different because of their managers over
the years. Their major difference is the managers they have had in past. As an organization they have
always been similar being two of the biggest soccer clubs in the world. Their managers and how they
position the players and handle them is what makes the difference between a team and a winning
team. For example, Frank Rijkaard was one of Barcelona s most successful managers because he took
over the club at an all time low. The world class team had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have had the best goalkeepers around, Real Madrid having Iker
Casillas, a goalkeeper respected as the best in the world, and Barcelona carrying Victor Valdes, a true
hero on the field, but there is one problem they have stuck with the team for a long time. They have
renewed their defenses with young World Cup superstars. Real Madrid landed the Costa Rican Keylor
Navas who shined throughout the World Cup and captured the hearts of everyone with his incredible
saves, meanwhile Barcelona did not just stand by they also recruited a World Cup star, Claudio Bravo,
whom also demonstrated that you truly needed to be cunning and skilled to put the ball in the net
behind him. Besides the goalkeepers the on field defenders are similar as well, while Barcelona has
Pique and Dani Alves, Real Madrid has Marcelo and Sergio Ramos on the field. Each one of them
skilled and respected players in the soccer world, yet they have one small problem they all need to be
updated soon. They have stuck with the teams for a long time, but sadly it all must come to an end and
both team need young players to learn their spots and take over once they leave the

Fracking Technology On Extraction Of Shale Gas And Oil Essay
Fracking technology. What are the environmental and health issues related to fracking technology on
extraction of shale gas and oil?
Unconventional gas and oil extraction process known as hydraulic fracturing, hydrofracking or
fracking is a technique used to extract shale gas and oil, on which high pressure fluid is injected,
mainly water, containing sand, chemicals or other granular materials which are pumped with a fluid
medium under pressure into rock, so that fractures formed in this process are held open when the
pressure is released, allowing oil or gas to flow more freely suspended, with the aid of thickening
agents.
Once that unconventional gas and oil extraction (fracking) has becoming widespread practice and a
concern in some countries, particularly in the United States of America (USA), relatively about
potential environmental risks and human health outcome, as well as potential routes of human
vulnerability, has been the focus of several studies by social researchers, health and environmental
scientists, and epidemiologists. This essay will present and analyse the challenges imposed by
hydraulic fracturing to extract oil and shale gas, particularly related with environmental and health
issues.
Hydrofracking began in 1947 as an application in the USA and was followed in 1950 by the first
commercially successful application. Although, only recently (in 2007 the method was first used by
Petroleum engineers under North Dakota and Montana known as the Bakken to

The Perfect Picture Analysis
Essay #4: Analyzing the setting of The Perfect Picture Stories are made in hopes of entertaining
readers and capturing their attention. In order to have a successful story, writers will incorporate many
different elements. One element that makes up a good story is the setting. Like the word suggests, the
setting helps set up all the elements of the story; it can provide the entire mood or feeling for the story.
In James Alexander Thom s short story The Perfect Picture, the setting is at the home of a family
whose grandfather accidentally ran over his young granddaughter in the driveway. In the story, the
narrator goes on to explain that he is a police reporter yet he cannot bring himself to write about this
accident for the news. Like most stories, The Perfect Picture uses description/illustration, narration,
comparison, and definition and to try to help make the story and setting memorable. It is important to
capture your readers with a good description and illustration of a setting. You want the reader to have
a mental image in their head while they read a story. Readers want to be able to have a connection
with a story and being able to understand the setting can definitely help. In The Perfect Picture, the
author does a good job of describing the setting of he story. For example, right in the beginning of the
story, the author describes the weather in the story, saying: It was early in the spring about 15 years
ago a day of pale sunlight and trees just beginning to

Essay Cardiovascular Disease
Imagine what it would be like to have just started your senior year of high school and be involved in
softball, basketball, and numerous other activities and organizations, and find out that your dad has to
have a quadruple bypass surgery and won t be able to attend any of your games, which will keep most
of your family members from being able to as well because they are trying to take care of him. That
was the reality for my best friend, Kathy Jo, last year. Cardiovascular disease does run in their family,
so his diagnosis was understandable, but still came as a shock because he was so young and fit. Her
dad is fine now and by the end of the year was well enough to go and support her in the last months of
her senior year, but in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women, the elderly, and diabetics sometimes feel more or less pain but often feel more fatigued,
weaker, and have trouble catching their breath (Wedro). There are several ways to test for heart
disease that range from simple to more complex. Upon visiting the doctor he/she may check a person s
heart rate, heartbeat, blood pressure, give them a physical exam, and/or run tests for more accurate
results. Heart rate is tested by checking the pulse and the purpose is to test the rhythm and regularity
of the heart, whereas listening to the heartbeat with a stethoscope allows the doctor to evaluate the
valve function (Bryg). Blood pressure is basically how hard the blood is pumped through the arteries
by the heart. It is measured in two parts and is written as a fraction; for example, 120/80 is considered
the normal reading. Systolic pressure, which is the pressure when the heart beats and is the higher
number in the fraction, is one measurement, and diastolic pressure, the pressure when the heart is
relaxed and is the lower number in the fraction, is the other measurement (Donatelle). Other forms of
checking for CVD are simply running a few tests. Among the most common tests that doctors use are
electrocardiograms (ECG or EKG),

  • 2. The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper Is To Characterize The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts, main techniques, and any current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual theory. While the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not addressed in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family therapy in prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan Boszormenyi Nagy s contextual theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an individual s challenges in relation to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to draw attention to his empirically based findings from over 40 years of ... Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client experiences the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy stretches facts to include those details about world views that are a product of our own created reality that is culminated by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into what family they are born into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each other around that child, such that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could create for the child a fact that unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present, contextual therapy accounts for facts that may be present that the client may not be able to bring to their conscience or that they may be unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte, 2011). Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy, such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the parts of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory with the other ... • 3. Verification Of Motion Lab Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship: Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added to the hook, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Set up a position vs time graph to record data for. Attach a string to the cart, over the smart pulley, and latch it onto a 5g hook to the side of the table. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place, keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge. Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. Make sure to remove unwanted data, such as the initial motionless state of the cart and the adrupt halt of its motion. The acceleration of the system is two times the value of the A constant in the curve fit; record this and do this for all trials. Results After 5 trials, the data was shown to be positively ... In our nation the founding fathers include Abigail and John Adams, Aaron Burr, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington. Joseph Ellis uses this book to argue that all of the founding fathers knew each other personally, had diverse personalities. Joseph Ellis goes in to great detail about how the founding fathers know each other personally. They would spend endless hours debating on political material, and fighting over important matters. The only thing that did worry Hamilton was the ominous fit between Burr s political skills and the opportunities for mischief so clearly available in a nation whose laws and institutions were still congealing. The problem with Hamilton s distinction, however, was that the putative barrier between personal and political criticism, or private and public behavior, kept getting overwhelmed by real choices. This was a crucial moment in developing America s personality. Burr finally stepped up and did what was finest for the Nation. Hamilton s personality was also essential for the hard situations. • 6. Ojibwe Creation Myths A Whole New World Part A: Eternal inflation is an alternative theory of creation that is a modification of the Big Bang Theory. The earliest universe was expanding matter, and particles that were next to each other would routinely be sent whizzing away to the farthest reaches of their cosmological horizons. It is no longer like that, however, as the inflation stopped. The theory of eternal inflation is that the expansion did not stop all at once. Rather, little bubbles of space randomly stopped inflating, or fell onto trajectories that led to the end of their inflation. And, since the expansion is rapid, the inflating space creates more space than the bubbles that stop inflating lose so inflation never ends. The result is an ever expanding multiverse, which means not only is Earth not the center of the universe but our universe isn t the center of the universe. The Ojibwa, however, depict a being of unfathomable power and wisdom whose vision should be altered by no one. The real difference, however, is most prominent today. The first two beings of Māroi culture, Rangi and Papa, are not worshipped with the intensity that the Ojibwa allow Kitchi Manitou. Soon after, various research and development in the field of displays gave the cutting edge technologies such as LCDs, LEDs, and Plasma Displays. In such scenario, a display ability to produce deep, dark blacks and crisper colors are arguably the most important factor in achieving excellent picture quality. Deeper blacks allows for higher contrast and richer colors, and thus a more realistic and dazzling image. When it comes to black levels, OLED reigns as the undisputed champion. • 8. Berkeley s Argument For The Dismissal Of Material Objects... To be just is to be perceived , or as Irish philosopher George Berkeley prefers to put it, esse est percipi . In this argument, Berkeley details extensively how material objects, as humans have come to know them, do not exist. Berkeley uses a series of premises to aid in the elimination of skepticism surrounding the existence of the world humans have come to know and grow fond of. At first read, Berkeley s conclusion that the abstract ideas of substance, matter, or any physical objects simply are not real is very hard to grasp when humans have based their justifications on what is real versus not real on their own senses, and the validation of other people. However, Berkeley does an excellent job of making an argument one cannot refute. In order to fully understand Berkeley s argument for the dismissal of material objects, one must understand his preceding argument on abstract ideas. According to Berkeley, the existence of abstract ideas is actually a myth. Humans tend to generalize concepts, such as the general idea of a table, a car, or a triangle, for example. However, Berkeley claims in his argument that there is no explainable way to have a general idea of anything. So if someone tells another to think of a table, that person will have a very specific picture of a very specific table maybe a brown dining table with large, carved wooden legs, or a plastic folding table. There is not one table that has all of the characteristics of a table and none of them at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors. These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary example of hypochondriasis. Celiac disease is a very real, documented medical phenomenon while NCGS, with little proof of its actual existence, is nothing more than a placebo that has started to affect (for the most part) those in Western society. Ethnic and Religious Conflict in Nigeria Analysis of the challenges of religion and ethnicity on political stability in Nigeria s fourth republic (1999 2011) INTRODUCTION Background to the Study Basically, Nigeria is a plural society and heterogeneous in virtually all the facet of life. The custom and tradition of Nigerians is so diverse to the extent that Nigeria as a country is now confronted with the problem of religion and ethnicity towards their political stability. The origin and history of ethnic conflict (societal wars and violence) can be traced from eternal (internal) state rivalry to external (physical). This article is focused on the historical incidents of ethnic conflicts in within Nigeria societies, the cause of the conflicts and perhaps, the government actions towards ethnic conflict in the country. In conclusion, this paper will explore into decision making (by the elites and those in authority) process has contributed immensely in generating the syndromes of conflict in the said state. The Nigerian political situation has witnessed more breaking of heads, than counting them. In fact, even when it has been convenient for heads to be counted, the outcome has always been the breaking of heads instead. Conflict in Nigeria is so intense because of lack of democratic behaviour. The head of the individual in the democratic context signifies citizenship. So when heads are broken in the Nigerian political community, the issue in respect of broken heads is citizenship. If conflict in Nigeria means the absence of democratic behaviour, it follows, therefore, that conflict in Nigeria is interwoven with the absence of democratic governance. Gurr (2000): has also shown that the incidence of conflicts at the global level declined in recent years with the deepening of democratisation. Nation states where conflicts persist are those where what obtains is the democratisation of disempowerment (Ake 1996). Beyond the veneer of elections, the state remains ambushed, privatised, repressive and unpopular. The people who were tantalised by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, according to McFarlane and Waibel (2012), informality itself is a nebulous term due to its wide reaching focus from poverty to marginality, from livelihoods to inequality. They describe informality as more of a metaphor rather than a concept due to the fluidity and uncertainty of the term, however, they do agree that informality plays a crucial role not only in the global South, but beyond (McFarlane and Waibel, 2012:1). The stagnation of the global Southern countries in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa occurred in the 1970s and 80s when these countries found themselves trapped by levels of debt to international public and commercial banks (Williams, 1994:214). Fearing another global depression, large banks and organisations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) embarked upon structural adjustment programs (SAPs) in these heavily indebted countries with the aim of restructuring their traditional economies seen in the global North as symptoms of backwardness (Moser, 1994). The ability to qualify for monetary aid from the global North was conditional on the adoption of a range of policies (Craig and Porter, 2003:60) set out by these organisations believed to be necessary for debt sustainability; central to which was the theory of neoliberalism . The first main condition was the devaluing of the local currency, intended to encourage exports and limit imports (Williams, 1994), with the second policy agreement being the reduction in the size of the government bureaucracy. The initial reason for the debt pile up in these countries was seen as being due to governmental mismanagement, and therefore money was allocated for the restructuring of the state governments in order to correct their inefficiency. • 14. Jonathan Kozol The Shame Of The Nation Analysis Award winning writer and public lecturer, Jonathan Kozol wrote an essay that was published in Harper s Magazine and was also adapted from his book, The Shame of the Nation: The Restoration of Apartheid Schooling in America. This essay essentially discusses the injustice of the school systems and how predominately white districts thrive while African American districts are left without basic needs. Kozol uses of New York City as an example of the unfair financial inconsistencies towards specific counties or cities in the state. The author argues, the gross discrepancies in teacher salaries between the city and its affluent white suburbs have remained persistent (354). • 15. Workplace Diversity Within The Workplace As companies become more diverse in the work field employees are getting harder to manage and understand. One issue in the global market today is workplace diversity. Workplace diversity is defined as all characteristics and experiences that defined each employee as individuals, but it can also be misunderstood as discrimination against employees. Diversity can include race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability and sexual orientation discrimination. One reason why workplace diversity is important is because when you respect your employees productivity rate rises and many companies do not know that. A diverse workplace targets to create an inclusive culture that values and uses the talents of all employees. Evolution of Workplace Diversity In 1964 the civil rights act made it illegal for employment organizations to practice discrimination in the workplace. Based on race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability and sexual orientation. In 1965 congress pass an executive order which was 11246 it required contractors to taker affirmative actions and to ensure all employees are getting the same treatment in the workplace. Evolution Of The Traditional Family In The 1950 s Emily Hodack Soc 100 3/14/17 Discussion 9 Nuclear family is defined as familial form consisting of a father, a mother, and their children (Conley, 2015, p. 453). This type of family was considered the traditional family in American society in the 1950s. The traditional family was when the man worked outside the home and the wife stayed at home and tended to the home and children. Also the idea of the traditional family has changed, especially with the rate of divorce and single parents increasing. The divorce rate has been steadily rising since the nineteenth century, as divorce became less and less of a social and religious taboo (Conley, 2015, p. 456). • 17. The Loopholes of the Montreal Protocol on the Substances... Climate Change is one of the chief problems that the world is struggling right now. It is estimated that every decade, the world s temperature is increasing by 1ºC and this phenomenon is called global warming. An evident example of global warming is the melting of the polar ice caps. Compare to the past hundred years, the size of the polar ice caps has reduced which resulted to the rise of the sea levels and eventually destroying the homes of those people living near the seaside. Another consequence is the increasing number of dangerous typhoons. A typhoon starts from a low pressure area in the oceans and because the temperature of the water is increasing due to global warming, more low pressure areas are formed. Next, another effect of global warming is the widespread extinction of some animals. Many animals in the Arctic and Antarctic region have migrated to other places but some of them cannot stand the heat and they died. While under the sea, many fishes have also been extinct because the coral reefs have been destroyed in the process called coral bleaching. Lastly, a common evidence of global warming is the failure of cultivated crops. Many lands have dried up and have fissures because there is no water left especially on the season of El Niño which lead to hunger and increase in demand of food. • 18. 12 Angry Men Rhetorical Analysis One of the most valuable abilities an individual can possess is dauntlessness and the art of persuasion. In the film 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose, twelve members of the jury must determine and issue a final decree on whether an inner city teenager is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or not guilty of his father s murder. Despite the numerous factual evidence provided, a majority of the jurors are convinced without reasonable doubt that the young boy is guilty and should be sentenced to death. These abilities are undoubtedly illustrated when one juror decides to stand against eleven jurors in transforming the fate of the teenage boy. The individual is Juror 8. He utilizes the act of courage to stand against the other jurors in what he believes is an unfair judgment and also uses persuasion to alter their decisions. Through analyzing juror 8 s dialogue and his employment of rhetorical techniques with each juror, the readers can discern his unique traits of courage and persuasion. First, Let s examine Juror 8 s demeanor. He appears to be a gentle, quiet and an astute man. In the initial jury vote, he is the only juror that votes not guilty while the rest votes guilty. Thus, he exhibits that he is a man that values justice and is willing to fight for it. His display of dubitatio is recognized when he says, I don t know whether I believe it or not. Maybe I don t. (Lumet Rose, 1957). He is uncertain whether the boy is innocent or guilty but merely seeks the truth. He further states that it is not easy for him to send a boy off to die without talking about it first (Lumet Rose, 1957). While justifying to Juror 7 why he cast a not guilty vote, Juror 8 utilizes pathos to sway the jurors. Look, this boy s been kicked around all his life. You know, living in a slum, his mother dead since he was nine. That s not a very good head start, he says (Lumet Rose, 1957). Juror 8 points to the boy s poor upbringing in a bid to persuade the others to reconsider discussing the case before making a hasty judgment. He also uses his moderate touch and amiable expressions to calm Juror 9 from the comments made by Juror 10. Consequently, it is apparent that Juror 8 s attitude in determining facts to the ... This semester I got a chance to listen to Abby Payne, Tracey Anderson, and Kellie Jackson Jandt. From listening to their experiences and drawing back on my own experiences I have learned a lot about how I would want to lead my team. Abby Payne at Lake Travis High School claims her team is all about the show. They do football, contest, and spring show but spring show is the team s favorite. One thing that seemed unique about her team is that they devote an entire group or the Elite team to preparing the dancers who want to dance collegiately. This is a great idea when you are in an area like Lake Travis because those dancers work hard in both academics and dance so they are more likely to attend prestigious schools that have excellent dance teams. It is a wonderful that Abby is taking steps to set them up for success in their future. Another thing that is interesting to me is that Abby encourages them to be in other organizations and to involve themselves in other things besides dance team so they can build their resumes. From my experience a lot of directors prefer their dancers keep the dance team as the number one priority and to not make too many other time commitments that take away from their devotion to the team. • 40. Richard IIi, By William Shakespeare Children bring out the underlying disposition and wicked intentions we all possess. Richard III, by William Shakespeare, is a tragic play about the Duke of Gloucester who desires to be the king of England. He does this through the manipulation and murder of many characters, including Queen Elizabeth s children, Prince Edward and the Duke of York. These children emphasize some of the adult themes in the play and reveals the devastating nature of these themes. Their characteristics and deaths all contribute to the emphasis of these themes. Critics Marie Hélène Bisnaught and Michel Bito, and Vincent Walsh all agree that the murder of Prince Edward and the Duke of York was an atrocious deed. Prince Edward and the Duke of York are innocent, precious, and witty. These traits the children acquire truly highlights the extent of their deaths. Both these children are well beyond their years. This clear when the Duke of York says I could have given my uncle s grace a flout, / To touch his growth nearer than he d touched mine (Act II, Scene IV, Line 24 25). The young duke cleverly insults his uncle s height and manners essentially saying that Richard is a short, disrespected man. The children s innocence is also evident through the perspective of their mother and uncle. In the scene when Richard III greets his nephew, Prince Edward, he says Sweet prince, the untainted virtue of your years / Hath not yet dived into the world s deceit (Act III, Scene I, Line 7 8). In order to have a successful story, writers will incorporate many different elements. One element that makes up a good story is the setting. Like the word suggests, the setting helps set up all the elements of the story; it can provide the entire mood or feeling for the story. In James Alexander Thom s short story The Perfect Picture, the setting is at the home of a family whose grandfather accidentally ran over his young granddaughter in the driveway. In the story, the narrator goes on to explain that he is a police reporter yet he cannot bring himself to write about this accident for the news. Like most stories, The Perfect Picture uses description/illustration, narration, comparison, and definition and to try to help make the story and setting memorable. Women, the elderly, and diabetics sometimes feel more or less pain but often feel more fatigued, weaker, and have trouble catching their breath (Wedro). There are several ways to test for heart disease that range from simple to more complex. Upon visiting the doctor he/she may check a person s heart rate, heartbeat, blood pressure, give them a physical exam, and/or run tests for more accurate results. Heart rate is tested by checking the pulse and the purpose is to test the rhythm and regularity of the heart, whereas listening to the heartbeat with a stethoscope allows the doctor to evaluate the valve function (Bryg). Blood pressure is basically how hard the blood is pumped through the arteries by the heart. It is measured in two parts and is written as a fraction; for example, 120/80 is considered the normal reading. Systolic pressure, which is the pressure when the heart beats and is the higher number in the fraction, is one measurement, and diastolic pressure, the pressure when the heart is relaxed and is the lower number in the fraction, is the other measurement (Donatelle). Other forms of checking for CVD are simply running a few tests. Among the most common tests that doctors use are electrocardiograms (ECG or EKG), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
