Mediums In The Outsiders
By comparing the different mediums of "The Outsiders" through comparing disadvantages and
disadvantages to decide which of "The Outsiders" mediums are better. With the novel, it has more
detail, it has more detail in the character's backstory like how it describes pony's and soda's life
before the present story in the book. With Soda his life story is told. In the story there is inner
thoughts to the characters it also shows what the characters are thinking. With the story it comes
with the first chapter and a bit of the second describing the characters. There is more dialogue in the
story making it a bit more interesting, dialogue "speech in the story" can actually be pretty
important, because it let's the characters explain what is happening

The Human Modes Of Communication
For Postman, the human modes of communication play an important role in terms of shaping
discourse. If one can understand the role that methods of communication play in shaping culture and
discourse, one can better understand how communication impacts the development and subsequent
spread of culture and knowledge. Therefore, constructing an understanding of human epistemology
requires an analysis of the prevalent mediums of communication within society. Postman argues that
the unique nature of each form of communication controls, "...what kind of content can issue from
such forms."1 (p. 6) He gives the example of smoke signals utilized by Native Americans. These
smoke signals could be used to convey short messages, but it is safe to assume ... Show more

(p. 65) The invention of the telegraph brought about discourse for the sake of discourse, and thus,
"...it would require the content of that conversation to be different from what Typographic Man was
accustomed to."5 (p. 65) As the telegraph rose to prevalence, so too did the spread of useless
information. Information became a commodity, something that served no purpose other than to
inform. Information no longer needed to serve any sort of relevance–be it social or political–it
became a novelty intended to entertain and satisfy curiosity. The implication of such a shift in
medium cannot be underestimated. To Postman, "By generating an abundance of irrelevant
information, it [the telegraph] dramatically altered what may be called the "information–action
ratio."6 (p. 68) The problem with this is that society has slowly become complacent with their
impotency in terms of acting with regards to the news. The news that one hears no longer has the
ability to guide one's actions, as it is irrelevant. The telegraph created a culture in which rapid,
readily replaced information is desirable; and it is this shift in discourse that has created the cultural
idea that intelligence is, "...meant knowing of lots of things, not knowing about them."7 (p. 70)
Question IV Postman begins his analysis of the written word by giving a historical context of
typography within America. Education in the American colonies was an "intellectual

'The Medium Is the Massage' Mcluhan
"The medium is the message" McLuhan defines the medium as any extension of our body, senses or
mind. Therefore, any instrument of change is a medium. The resulting change McLuhan refers to is
often subtle and it is this change that is the message (McLuhan, 1994). At first glance, McLuhan's
statement seems paradoxical. However, my conventional understanding of message as the content is
not how McLuhan defines it. He defines the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is our responsibility to study the effects of our technologies to prevent any detrimental
unanticipated consequences they may have on our society. Samuel Morse when he invented
telegraphy, predicted that it would make "one neighborhood of the whole country." According to
Postman telegraphy "destroyed the prevailing definition of information, and in doing so gave a new
meaning to public discourse." It is with telegraphy and its union with the press that the value of
information changed. Information became context–
‐free and a commodity. Information was bought
and sold irrespective of its use or meaning, 1 and this is how the value of news has come to rely on
its novelty, interest and curiosity and not on its functionality (Postman, 1986). "Television speaks in
only one persistent voice – the voice of entertainment," (Postman, 1986).

Medium Mass Star
The mass of a star dictates its whole life. Vega is a medium mass star, so it has about 10 billion years
to live overall. Vega about 25 light years away, as well. Vega has an absolute magnitude of 0.58, and
a temperature of 9,602 K. This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other medium
mass star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into a white
dwarf, and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star, as a
nebula. The cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for fusion
of hydrogen into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into helium, it was
classified as a main sequence star, which is the phase in it's life cycle that it is currently in. To be a
main sequence star, the star must be capable of fusing hydrogen into helium, which means Vega still
hasn't run out of hydrogen to fuse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once this happens, outward pressure will stop and the star's core will start to collapse, and
temperatures will rise to a temperature that is hot enough to fuse helium into carbon and some
oxygen. At this point, Vega will no longer be in the main sequence, and will begin to expand into a
red giant, which is cool and bright. After Vega expands as far as it can, and runs out of helium to
fuse, outward pressure will increase, once again, and the outer layers of Vega will be pushed away,
causing a planetary nebula to be composed. The remaining core is a hot, dim white dwarf. In the
end, the white dwarf will cool into a black dwarf, which is mostly made of carbon and oxygen.
When Vega is a black dwarf, it will finished with it's life

Is The Medium Still The Message?

Is the Medium Still the Message?
Newspapers have traditionally been an important part of civil society, providing information to
citizens, convening groups around events and issues, and serving as a watchdog against abuses by
those in power. Going back to the Revolutionary War, newspapers have served to connect their
community and relay information to those unconnected otherwise. Through the atrocities of the
Vietnam War, surprise and indignation of Watergate, and the disgust of the Iran Contra investigation,
newspaper reporters consistently broke stories that had national impact. Even the recent Clinton e–
mail scandal was discovered by a reporter for the New York Times. (Huffington Post 2015)
Circulation has declined throughout the last decade with the rise of the twenty–four hour cable news
as well as the internet. Cable news outlets (as seen with both Fox and CNN) do not report
impartially, however, and the internet is open to whoever can write a post. The journalism standards
set by newspapers have been set aside and replaced by biased reporters and the random individual
spreading their version of the news. Although traditional print newspapers seem to be on the way
out, the role of journalism has never been more important. Newspapers provide an important role as
journalists continue to be our truth tellers and truth seekers and, according to Plato, "...without them,
humanity would lose its way in the dark."

Medium As A Metaphor
This book is about Medium as a Metaphor, that means that we should not believe that everything is
as it may seem, that everything states for something. It is the history of Message and the ways of
transmitting it from the beginnings until now days, from smoke signals and wall drawings until the
modern technologies that Media uses now days. I found it full of information presented in the
funniest way.
Trying to see the American spirit, the author talked about different cities and what ideas they
represent. We must say that the author's arguments are funny especially when he is talking about the
President of the United States as being a movie actor and we can link that to the show Saturday
Night Live.
Moving further, we can agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they call me an entertainer , I say that's great. When a professor teaches with a sense of humor,
people walk away remembering ".
The main point was that everything should be done in a funny way to influence the masses.
For example, at our German class, we have many funny activities and games and we have to get
involved in order to obtain a good and pleasant result class this is the only way we will " walk away
remembering " .
The book speaks about " Marxists, Freudians, Lévi– Straussians " and Plato four influential thinkers
of out times . They focused on the art of conversation and all the techniques and technologies that
allow people to exchange their ideas. Starting from this idea we are introduced into the history of
what is called this days " conversation" , sending a message and Media.
At the beginning people used smoke signals to communicate and this over time turned into a
complicated and complex way of communication. This main circle can be divided into smaller ones.
For example, when children are young they communicate first by signs and by simple sounds to
express what they wish or feel , at the age of 5 the child starts understanding and using simple words
and over the years they will develop the communication skills and improve their vocabulary every
day

The Value Of A Medium Of Exchange
A medium of exchange, a unit of account and a store of value are money 's three primary economic
functions.
First and foremost, money acts as a medium of exchange when it is used to negotiate the exchange
of goods and services. It also keeps away from the barter system 's wastefulness like the dependence
on the occurrence of a coincidence of wants. A medium of exchange must possess a stable
purchasing power in order for it to be accepted worldwide. Hence, it must be divisible,
transportable, recognizable, have constant utility, valuation of common assets, low cost of
preservation, high market value in relation to volume and weight and most of all, resistance to
counterfeiting. The most famous medium of exchange back then was gold since it was dormant.
Even small amounts of gold had considerable value which made gold user–friendly. Men cherished
gold because it also had a constant value due to its special physical and chemical properties.
The standard numerical unit of measuring goods and services ' market value is simply known as unit
of account. It is mandatory for forming commercial agreements. In order for money to function as a
unit of account, it must be divisible into smaller units without a loss of value, fungible, and have a
specific weight, measure or size in order to be verifiable countable.
Lastly, money must be able to be reliably stored, saved and retrieved in order for it to function as a
store of value. Likewise, it must be usable as a medium of

Pros And Cons Of The Solow Paradox
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/vaksam/">Sam Vaknin's Psychology,

The PRODUCTIVE HARDWARE
The world is debating the Solow Paradox. Named after the Nobel laureate in economics, it was
stated by him thus: "You can see the computer age everywhere these days, except in the
productivity statistics". The venerable economic magazine, "The Economist" in its
issue dated July 24th, quotes the no less venerable Professor Robert Gordon ("one of
America's leading authorities on productivity") – p.20:
"...the productivity performance of the manufacturing sector of the United States economy
since 1995 has been abysmal rather than admirable. Not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been duly detected by Robert Gordon in his "Has the 'New Economy' rendered the
productivity slowdown obsolete?".
But for this increased productivity to trickle down to the rest of the economy a few conditions have
to be met.
The transition from old technologies to a new one (the computer renders many a technology
obsolete) must not involve too much "creative destruction". The costs of getting rid of
old hardware, software, of altering management techniques or adopting new ones, of shedding
redundant manpower, of searching for new employees to replace the unqualified or unqualifiable, of
installing new hardware, software and of training new people in all levels of the corporation are
enormous. They must never exceed the added benefits of the newly introduced technology in the
long run. Hence the crux of the debate. Is IT more expensive to introduce, run and maintain than the
technologies that it so confidently aims to replace? Will new technologies be spun off the core IT in
a pace sufficient to compensate for the disappearance of old ones? As the technology mature, will it
overcome its childhood maladies (lack of operational reliability, bad design, non–specificity,
immaturity of the first

The Education Medium For The Course
As part of the teaching team instructing a first year course in American History, there is a lot to
cover in a semester. My part of the module consists of educating the students about slavery in
nineteenth–century America. Solomon Northup's memoir, 12 Years A Slave will be part of the
curriculum, since it is an authentic piece of history in American slavery. However, as the instructor, I
need to decide what educational medium to use. I have the choice of the book/memoir itself or the
academy award winning film. Both mediums have their advantages and disadvantages as a teaching
aid.
After some consideration, I will be using the film as the education medium for the course. While the
book is a fountain of information, I believe the film will be more beneficial for a first year history
course. This film will truly engage the students and give them a better understanding of the
unfortunate events of historical slavery. Though, the film is not the primary evidence of slavery, it
does portray authenticity. As long as the film does not forfeit its historical accuracies for
entertainment value, then it should be used as an educational tool. However, loss of accurate
historical information is not an issue since this Hollywood film manages to accurately depict history.
For starters, the actors and actresses that were cast were true to their detailed descriptions in the
book. The students can visualize the characters and their personalities in the film. It could drive the

the modern food does not represent the natural origin. The cold colors show my dislike for
cosmetically selected and unhealthy food. Title 2: Fear Medium: Drawing Size: 72.5cm x 45.5cm

Drawing Mediums
1. WHAT WERE THE PARAMETERS OF THE ASSIGNMENT? This assignment was drawing a
fruit or a vegetable of my choice and rendering it using three different mediums. The last drawing
permitted me to creatively portray my fruit using a mix of mediums. The first two drawings had a
set requirement. The art piece had to be the original drawing of a fruit or vegetable and in addition
to that the first drawing was asked to be fully rendered using pencil and had to be done in pencil
crayon for the second artwork. 2. WHAT PART OF YOUR ARTWORK DID YOU FIND THE
MOST SUCCESSFUL AND WHY? I find my first artwork to be the best one compared to the other
two. I was able to show many different shades and value through the use of graphite. In addition, I
am more comfortable using pencils compared to the other medias I have used for the other artworks.
It was much simpler to express texture as well, allowing me to believe that the first graphite drawing
was the best. 3. WHAT PART OF YOUR ARTWORK DID YOU FIND LEAST SUCCESSFUL
AND WHY? I find my last artwork least successful as it did not turn out the way I have imagined.
The use of markers did give the bold feel to the art piece; however, the colouring technique was ...

Different from using graphite, pencil crayons do not permit blending to occur easily. It may work,
but it is immensely difficult to get a result similar to that of using graphite. To get an area to have a
darker shade and to get the same value as the reference picture, layers and layers of colouring is
needed. An example would be the bottom half of the uncut star fruit. To get the shadows and the
hidden inner colour of the fruit I had to continuously layer on top of the previous layer. This, as I
have mentioned, gives the art tone as well as shades. Furthermore, a star fruit has a smooth and
shiny outer texture. To communicate this, the burnishing technique is used, in which allows the

Bacteria Lab
Lab Report: Unknown #1

INTRODUCTION:
Bacteria are the smallest living organisms, they are prokaryotic and have a simple cell structure.
They do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism.
They are among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow
in different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci.
Growth within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to
hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have
many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or
ovoid shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped
bacilli with tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it
is flexible and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two–cell
arrangements) (. Bacteria are usually named for their shape or multicell arrangement, but cannot be
truly identified by just those characteristics (Strelkauskas, Edwards, Fanhert, Pryor, 2016). Bacteria
can be classified by the way they stain. They are clear under a microscope and require staining to be
seen. To stain a bacteria, one takes a dye to color the cells. There are basic dyes that contain

Challenge Power Mediums
Music has the ability to both support and challenge power. This paper will look specifically at how
certain mediums attempt to challenge power. There is more than one way to challenge power, but
this paper will explain three main mediums. The three mediums that will be analyzed include: lyrics,
genre and performance venue/context. Lets first start with lyrics ability to challenge power. The
lyrics of a song are what work specifically with the audience to give meaning. It is the words people
hear that give them the easiest insight in to what the artist's intentions were with regards to overall
meaning and purpose. Think about the following lyrics, "We live in a political world/Love don't
have any place," (Political World, Bob Dylan). These lyrics by Bob Dylan are stating that because of
the state of the world, love no longer has a place in it, so there is only hate. They are a direct
challenge against the political ideologies, specifically those that Bob Dylan doesn't agree with.
Lyrics like these have the ability to directly contest power by simply using words that allow the
audience to understand the meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Musical genres such as reggae, which is associated with the Rastafarian movement, have specific
association, no matter the song or singer. American Folk, to name another, has been associated with
protest songs for civil rights, anti–war, and many others. Because these genres are associated with
specific movements or protests that challenge power, people who listen to them know they have
meaning. Artists and the audience both understand that if they are going to listen or perform as an
American folk singer, people expect the song to have meaning that attempts to challenge power of
some form. People will go listen to certain genres of music because they know that that specific
genre will agree with their political, religious or any other

In most cases, your hair is cut around shoulder length, either a little above, or slightly below. The
idea is to create a significant amount of depth to the appearance of your hair, something that the hair
stylist will do after the initial cut is made.
Popularity of Medium Length Layered Haircuts
One of the primary reasons that this type of haircut is so popular with women is because it's easy to
maintain. Women with long hair may have to spend several hours washing their hair, drying it, and
getting it to a state of perfection. Although longer hair might provide a woman with more flair and
possibilities, long hair is more difficult to manage, and therefore medium length haircuts can
sometimes be preferable.
Women that cut their hair short might risk having a less feminine appearance. You need to have the
right facial shape in order to sport a shorter hairdo. The typical pixie cut that some women prefer
usually looks better with a more rounded face. However, in the end, it really comes down to how
much work you want to put into your hair. The medium length layered hairdo, therefore, is a happy
medium for those that want to have more style options, yet will have less hair to manage on a daily

The Impact Of Pre Employment Tests On Children And Public...
The advent of computers resulted in the replacement of paper–and–pencil tests as the primary
medium of test delivery, with computerized versions, overseen by a proctor. Technological
innovations such as surveillance equipment, and random sampling from large item pools, evolved to
aid in minimizing cheating during proctored tests (Gibby et al., 2009; Bartram 2009). The following
proliferation of high speed internet into homes and public settings allowed some employers to adopt
UIT in order to cut costs of pre–employment test administration while reaching a more diverse pool
of applicants. Many selection officials, however, continue to use proctored tests for preliminary
screening of applicants. The reasons for some selection officials resistance to adopting UIT has yet
to be researched. Perceptions of pre–employment tests Previous research has examined selection
officials ' use and perceptions of various types of pre–employment tests used to measure a variety of
constructs. Researchers have also examined factors likely to contribute to selection officials ' choice
to use a particular test. A qualitative study by König, Jöri, and Knüsel (2011) served as a basis for
examining how selection officials choose pre–employment tests by investigating how Swiss human
resource (HR) managers perceived various selection instruments and the constructs on which these
instruments were compared. Their results suggest that the constructs used to compare selection
instruments vary widely

The Shallows Rhetorical Analysis
In the book "The Shallows", Nicholas Carr develops his argument just as an architect would
construct a building. The foundation is laid then in tedious and eloquent manner, he begins an
argument that defines the book. Shedding light upon the dangers our society may encounter through
the internet, Carr uses personal anecdotes, parallels, ethic and reason based arguments, and disguises
himself as an authoritative figure to execute a view changing book.
Exerting personal anecdotes on the way the internet has changed him; Carr begins his book in a
subtle manner. He begins describing one of his first dilemma's, "I had become trapped, not

Anything but non–existent, the parallel suggests that technology is having a definite change on our
"plastic" brains. New technologies mold us to their likings whether we adhere to them or not. And as
"mechanical clocks were not manufactured to spur the adoption of a more scientific mode of
thinking", the internet is not intended to create more adverted, shallow thinking humans. But all
behaviors prevailing show that it is. Acknowledging this fact, readers can either begin to challenge
that their life is being changed or affirm the conclusion. This parallel is exactly the strategy needed
to convince readers that it's an "invention's intellectual ethic that has the most profound effect on
us."
Before entering the final crest of Carr's gist, he reasons that many are bound to experience the
negative effects of the Net because of its versatility and resilience. Carr state's "Although mildly
disorienting at first, I quickly adjusted to the Kindle's screen and mastered the scroll and page–turn
buttons. Nevertheless, my eyes were restless and jumped around as they do when I try to read for a

Cannibal Holocaust: One of the Greatest Cinematography...
Ruggero Deodato's 1980 Cannibal Holocaust is arguably the most controversial film to date. The
film's plot consists of two distinct stories that are continually presented differently than their actual
timeline; however, directly influence each other. The movie follows the demise of four ruthless
documentary filmmakers: Alan Yates, Faye Daniels, Jack Anders and Mark Tomaso, as they
adventure into the Amazon Rainforest in order to capture footage of primitive cannibal tribes. As the
audience finds out in the beginning of the film, the documentarians have yet to return, prompting the
second and present timeline of the movie, the story of New York University anthropologist, Dr.
Harold Monroe. Dr. Monroe leads a rescue party into the Amazon ... Show more content on

Both Cannibal Holocaust's set and setting are in the Amazon to depict a sense of realism; however,
the set was not actually inhabited by cannibalistic tribes. The film has a continuous theme in which
it attempts to present itself as a real experience, for example, the entire 16mm footage uses natural
lighting. The four cinema verité filmmakers have specific responsibilities during their journeys.
Alan's role as the director is to narrate the situation for the camera. Naturally, having that job, Alan
has the most amount of time pictured in the film of the four. Faye's role was the least conducive to
the group; she in charge of scripting and both her and Alan were romantically involved. Jack and
Mark, the final two members were the cameramen, using 16mm cameras, they usually filmed
together simultaneously, in different perspectives allowing the sequence to be viewed from different
distances, angles and depth of fields. Alan, being in charge of the operation, was a negative
influence on his entire team as he constantly encouraged them to act savagely. Along with Alan,
Jack and Mark repeatedly commit immoral acts when opportunities permit. In watching the
sequences of the plot, the properties of mise–en–scène are disturbing, but when in conjunction with

In the Victorian era, entertainment was hobbies, acquired skills and group activities such as séances,

Exercise 4 : Use Selective And Differential Media
EXERCISE 4 : USE OF SELECTIVE AND DIFFERENTIAL MEDIA TO IDENTIFY AND
CULTURE BACTERIA
INTRODUCTION
Culturing bacteria on a media has been an important laboratory technique since Robert Koch
discovered how to grow bacteria in a petri dish. Bacteria will cultivate successfully on the media if
the right nutrients, temperature, humidity, pH and any other specific conditions were provided. The
most basic and common medium of growth on the nutrient broth, which contains water, beef extract
and peptone. Although most bacteria will grow in this medium, some bacteria are fastidious and
require special growth supplements such as blood or sugar. Further in mixed populations where it
would be difficult to isolate the minority type of organism in a simple medium. Therefore, media
can be divided into different types depending on the chemical composition in order to help isolate
selected microorganism's. The commonly used media are differential, enriched and selective media.
Selective media generally contains ingredients that inhibit the growth of unwanted bacteria. For
example, nutrient agar (NA) is commonly used to select for the gram negative microorganism
culture media. This is because, nutrient agar contains the antibiotic penicillin that preventing the
growth of gram positive bacteria. Another example of selective media is Mannitol salt agar (MSA).
MSA is supplemented with few important compositions such as 7.5% of salt (NaCl), which is

Glucuronidase Experiment
After the P–A broth containing the water sample was incubated for 48 hours, the broth changed
from the initial color of dark purple to a light yellow broth. This suggests the presence of coliform in
the water sample, since it was able to ferment lactose in the broth. It also suggests that the water
sample is fecally contaminated.
In the EMB agar test, two distinct colonies due to their different in color were observed. For the one
with black colonies, it was determined to be lactose fermenters, because only acid production from
lactose fermentation would result in this color. As for the other colonies, they appeared to be either
colorless or pinkish, this indicates that they are either sucrose fermenter or non–coliform Gram–
negative strains because of their inability to ferment lactose.
As for the PetriFilm plates, there were two different groups of colonies being formed on the plates;
one with blue colonies while the other formed red colonies. For the red colonies, they are considered
to be microbes that are capable of acid production and contains glucuronidase enzyme. Unlike the
red colonies, the blue colonies indicate the presence of E.coli strains, ... Show more content on

INTODUCTION Small and medium enterprise(SME's) in India have a very important place in the
Indian economy. Their contribution in terms of production, export, export, employment generation
and all round growth of the country is well known. The role of SME sector in the nation building is
well recognized not only in India, but also across the globe. The industrial engines of Japan, china,
US, Germany and Taiwan are also driven by the SME sector. Finance/credit is the most critical
component in any business process. Any industrial sector cannot work to its full capacity without
adequate flow of funds. The SME sector is working with low capacity utilization, which, however,

development since SMEs accelerate rural industrialization by linking it with the more organized
urban sector. Help achieve fair and equitable distribution of wealth by regional dispersion of
economic activities. Contribute significantly to export revenues because of the low–cost labour
intensive nature of its products. Have a positive effect on the trade balance since SMEs generally
use indigenous raw materials. Assist in fostering a self–help and entrepreneurial culture by bringing

sign. The whiteness of itseems to show the purity and innocence Forrest has, and his enthusiastic

scene is that it isa extreme long shot of different parts of the town, allowing the audience to adapt
thesetting of the film into their minds, whilst the feather is shot from multiple angles, sometimes
close up, and sometimes using medium shots. With the words and the townbackground, the feather
interestingly, is still the focal point of the whole shot, andunintentionally, your eyes follow wherever

Medium Egg Experiment
As a class, we wanted to determine if there really was a difference between large eggs and medium
eggs. If the large eggs did not have a larger mass than medium eggs it would be reasonable to
conclude that large and and medium eggs are, in fact, the same size. First, we had half the class
measure medium eggs, while the other half measured the large eggs. After we had found the masses
of both medium and large eggs we compiled our data. The mean of both types of eggs were found
leading toward a comparison using the t–test. Based on the evidence, the null hypothesis was
rejected. It was reasonable to conclude that there was a difference between both medium and large
eggs. The results did not support our hypothesis which is: there is not a difference ... Show more

The largest medium egg was about equal to the smallest large egg. The mean of the medium eggs
was 48.84 grams (s.d. +/– 1.86114). The large eggs ranged from 53.34g to 65.98. The mean of these
numbers is 59.76 (s.d. +/– 3.84559). The t test was calculated to be 0.702 proving the null
hypothesis wrong.
DISCUSSION
The findings show that there is a difference in the medium and large eggs. Large eggs were found to
weigh more than the medium eggs. If medium eggs would have had similar mean weights we could
have concluded that both sets of eggs are the same.
The t test showed us that the null hypothesis was not present between both sets of eggs; also,
voiding our original hypothesis stating that there was not a difference between between medium and
large eggs.
Although this experiment was completed with precise care, there may be some inaccuracies present
such as the cracking of an egg. Although this may be an inaccuracy, it is highly unlikely that this had
any significant impact on the data.
The evidence shown leads the conclusion that medium eggs and large eggs are different. Although
this might be true for this particular brand, there is no guarantee this is true for other brands of

The Importance Of Classroom Management
"Classroom management must reflect the personality and teaching style of the individual teacher
and is a skill that must be learned, practiced, and evaluated, and modified to fit the changing
situations in classrooms." (Burden, 2017) For a teacher to find their model of discipline that works
for them and their students it begins with trial and error. Nothing starts off smoothly but through
time a teacher can find a wave of motion on what method of discipline would work for the flow of
the classroom, the attitude of the students, and the teacher's personality and comfort level.
Throughout time teachers can find that flow of establishing the appropriate dominance in the
classroom, other than being the adult. One of the methods for establishing the dominance of the
classroom is to have clear expectations for the preferred behavior in the classroom, the teacher needs
to set in stone the rules and procedures, and by providing consequences for the disruptive student
behavior. The class can establish the rules and procedures through, possibly, a class discussion and
everyone, the students and teacher, can be on mutual circumstances. Besides the clarity of the rules
and procedures, the teacher needs acknowledge the students' behavior; having the ability to reinforce
between the acceptable behavior and the negative behavior and by respectfully putting out the
consequences for the unruly behavior.
Cooperation in the classroom will show the dominance and respect of both the students and teacher
in respect to the students' needs and opinions of the world around them. Cooperation focuses on the
class to function as a team. Finding the respect of the class could start by providing flexible learning
goals. Giving students that respect by letting them set their own milestones at the beginning of the
unit can give everyone the sense of cooperation and sends out the message that the teacher cares.
"A continuum showing a range of low to high teacher control can be used to illustrate the various
educational views, and the various discipline models can be placed on the continuum. A model of
discipline is a set of cohesive approaches to deal with establishing, maintaining, and restoring order
in the classroom that represent a

Meaning the Medium Is the Message
What is the Meaning of The Medium is the Message? by Mark Federman Former Chief Strategist
McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology a culture like ours, long accustomed to splitting and
dividing all things as a means of control, it is sometimes a bit of a shock to be reminded that, in
operational and practical fact, the medium is the message. This is merely to say that the personal and
social consequences of any medium – that is, of any extension of ourselves – result from the new
scale that is introduced into our affairs by each extension of ourselves, or by any new technology."
(McLuhan, 1964, p. 7) Thus begins the classic work of Marshall McLuhan, Understanding Media,
in which he introduced the world to his enigmatic paradox, "The ... Show more content on

In the case of a specific theatrical production, its message may be a change in attitude or action on
the part of the audience that results from the medium of the play itself, which is quite distinct from
the medium of theatrical production in general. Similarly, the message of a newscast are not the
news stories themselves, but a change in the public attitude towards crime, or the creation of a
climate of fear. A McLuhan message always tells us to look beyond the obvious and seek the
nonobvious changes or effects that are enabled, enhanced, accelerated or extended by the new thing.
McLuhan defines medium for us as well. Right at the beginning of Understanding Media, he tells us
that a medium is "any extension of ourselves." Classically, he suggests that a hammer extends our
arm and that the wheel extends our legs and feet. Each enables us to do more than our bodies could
do on their own. Similarly, the medium of language extends our thoughts from within our mind out
to others. Indeed, since our thoughts are the result of our individual sensory experience, speech is an
"outering" of our senses – we could consider it as a form of reversing senses – whereas usually our
senses bring the world into our minds, speech takes our sensorially–shaped minds out to the world.
But McLuhan always thought of a medium in the sense of a growing medium,

It all began when the Greek philosophers got into the habit of questioning nature, raising doubts
about everything. Sacred forms of experience were scorned and disparaged and eventually a certain
kind of science came to dominate our thinking; the old wisdom traditions were forced to take a back
seat.
Of course, it's easy to tote up the pluses of Science, which has freed us from ignorance and
superstition, cleared the way to mastering the forces of nature, extended life and made things
comfortable for the affluent in capitalist societies. On the other hand, according to the official view,
consciousness peeps out momentarily, and is destined to vanish forever after death. Science has torn
down the ancient myths, and made the implausibility of life after death an article of faith.
The effects of these phenomena have a great impact on human society. When a mother loses a child
it is always a tragedy, but when there are a lot of unanswered questions relating to his/her death, the
help of a medium can lead to or bring closure to the family, enabling them to move forward. Most
people mourning the loss of a loved one are in an extremely vulnerable state, yearning for answers
to questions that one can no longer answer. If we could definitively answer these questions, the
human race would be that much stronger.

Medium ground finches had small beaks before but changed over time. This was caused because of

realization of his mistake and evidently his suicide. She describes the situation in which she is being
contacted by the man who raped her, and uses hidden language to compare her unwilling experience

Mediums In The Outsiders

  • 1. Mediums In The Outsiders By comparing the different mediums of "The Outsiders" through comparing disadvantages and disadvantages to decide which of "The Outsiders" mediums are better. With the novel, it has more detail, it has more detail in the character's backstory like how it describes pony's and soda's life before the present story in the book. With Soda his life story is told. In the story there is inner thoughts to the characters it also shows what the characters are thinking. With the story it comes with the first chapter and a bit of the second describing the characters. There is more dialogue in the story making it a bit more interesting, dialogue "speech in the story" can actually be pretty important, because it let's the characters explain what is happening ... • 3. The Human Modes Of Communication For Postman, the human modes of communication play an important role in terms of shaping discourse. If one can understand the role that methods of communication play in shaping culture and discourse, one can better understand how communication impacts the development and subsequent spread of culture and knowledge. Therefore, constructing an understanding of human epistemology requires an analysis of the prevalent mediums of communication within society. Postman argues that the unique nature of each form of communication controls, "...what kind of content can issue from such forms."1 (p. 6) He gives the example of smoke signals utilized by Native Americans. These smoke signals could be used to convey short messages, but it is safe to assume ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (p. 65) The invention of the telegraph brought about discourse for the sake of discourse, and thus, "...it would require the content of that conversation to be different from what Typographic Man was accustomed to."5 (p. 65) As the telegraph rose to prevalence, so too did the spread of useless information. Information became a commodity, something that served no purpose other than to inform. Information no longer needed to serve any sort of relevance–be it social or political–it became a novelty intended to entertain and satisfy curiosity. The implication of such a shift in medium cannot be underestimated. To Postman, "By generating an abundance of irrelevant information, it [the telegraph] dramatically altered what may be called the "information–action ratio."6 (p. 68) The problem with this is that society has slowly become complacent with their impotency in terms of acting with regards to the news. The news that one hears no longer has the ability to guide one's actions, as it is irrelevant. The telegraph created a culture in which rapid, readily replaced information is desirable; and it is this shift in discourse that has created the cultural idea that intelligence is, "...meant knowing of lots of things, not knowing about them."7 (p. 70) Question IV Postman begins his analysis of the written word by giving a historical context of typography within America. Education in the American colonies was an "intellectual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. 'The Medium Is the Massage' Mcluhan "The medium is the message" McLuhan defines the medium as any extension of our body, senses or mind. Therefore, any instrument of change is a medium. The resulting change McLuhan refers to is often subtle and it is this change that is the message (McLuhan, 1994). At first glance, McLuhan's statement seems paradoxical. However, my conventional understanding of message as the content is not how McLuhan defines it. He defines the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is our responsibility to study the effects of our technologies to prevent any detrimental unanticipated consequences they may have on our society. Samuel Morse when he invented telegraphy, predicted that it would make "one neighborhood of the whole country." According to Postman telegraphy "destroyed the prevailing definition of information, and in doing so gave a new meaning to public discourse." It is with telegraphy and its union with the press that the value of information changed. Information became context– ‐free and a commodity. Information was bought and sold irrespective of its use or meaning, 1 and this is how the value of news has come to rely on its novelty, interest and curiosity and not on its functionality (Postman, 1986). • 7. Medium Mass Star The mass of a star dictates its whole life. Vega is a medium mass star, so it has about 10 billion years to live overall. Vega about 25 light years away, as well. Vega has an absolute magnitude of 0.58, and a temperature of 9,602 K. This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other medium mass star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into a white dwarf, and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star, as a nebula. The cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for fusion of hydrogen into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into helium, it was classified as a main sequence star, which is the phase in it's life cycle that it is currently in. To be a main sequence star, the star must be capable of fusing hydrogen into helium, which means Vega still hasn't run out of hydrogen to fuse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once this happens, outward pressure will stop and the star's core will start to collapse, and temperatures will rise to a temperature that is hot enough to fuse helium into carbon and some oxygen. At this point, Vega will no longer be in the main sequence, and will begin to expand into a red giant, which is cool and bright. After Vega expands as far as it can, and runs out of helium to fuse, outward pressure will increase, once again, and the outer layers of Vega will be pushed away, causing a planetary nebula to be composed. The remaining core is a hot, dim white dwarf. In the end, the white dwarf will cool into a black dwarf, which is mostly made of carbon and oxygen. When Vega is a black dwarf, it will finished with it's life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Is The Medium Still The Message? Tanner Roark Prof. Robert O'bert English 1302–WC4 7 August 2016 Is the Medium Still the Message? Newspapers have traditionally been an important part of civil society, providing information to citizens, convening groups around events and issues, and serving as a watchdog against abuses by those in power. Going back to the Revolutionary War, newspapers have served to connect their community and relay information to those unconnected otherwise. Through the atrocities of the Vietnam War, surprise and indignation of Watergate, and the disgust of the Iran Contra investigation, newspaper reporters consistently broke stories that had national impact. Even the recent Clinton e– mail scandal was discovered by a reporter for the New York Times. (Huffington Post 2015) Circulation has declined throughout the last decade with the rise of the twenty–four hour cable news as well as the internet. Cable news outlets (as seen with both Fox and CNN) do not report impartially, however, and the internet is open to whoever can write a post. The journalism standards set by newspapers have been set aside and replaced by biased reporters and the random individual spreading their version of the news. Although traditional print newspapers seem to be on the way out, the role of journalism has never been more important. Newspapers provide an important role as journalists continue to be our truth tellers and truth seekers and, according to Plato, "...without them, humanity would lose its way in the dark." ... It is the history of Message and the ways of transmitting it from the beginnings until now days, from smoke signals and wall drawings until the modern technologies that Media uses now days. I found it full of information presented in the funniest way. Trying to see the American spirit, the author talked about different cities and what ideas they represent. We must say that the author's arguments are funny especially when he is talking about the President of the United States as being a movie actor and we can link that to the show Saturday Night Live. Moving further, we can agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If they call me an entertainer , I say that's great. When a professor teaches with a sense of humor, people walk away remembering ". The main point was that everything should be done in a funny way to influence the masses. For example, at our German class, we have many funny activities and games and we have to get involved in order to obtain a good and pleasant result class this is the only way we will " walk away remembering " . The book speaks about " Marxists, Freudians, Lévi– Straussians " and Plato four influential thinkers of out times . They focused on the art of conversation and all the techniques and technologies that allow people to exchange their ideas. Starting from this idea we are introduced into the history of what is called this days " conversation" , sending a message and Media. At the beginning people used smoke signals to communicate and this over time turned into a complicated and complex way of communication. This main circle can be divided into smaller ones. For example, when children are young they communicate first by signs and by simple sounds to express what they wish or feel , at the age of 5 the child starts understanding and using simple words and over the years they will develop the communication skills and improve their vocabulary every day ... • 13. The Value Of A Medium Of Exchange A medium of exchange, a unit of account and a store of value are money 's three primary economic functions. First and foremost, money acts as a medium of exchange when it is used to negotiate the exchange of goods and services. It also keeps away from the barter system 's wastefulness like the dependence on the occurrence of a coincidence of wants. A medium of exchange must possess a stable purchasing power in order for it to be accepted worldwide. Hence, it must be divisible, transportable, recognizable, have constant utility, valuation of common assets, low cost of preservation, high market value in relation to volume and weight and most of all, resistance to counterfeiting. The most famous medium of exchange back then was gold since it was dormant. Even small amounts of gold had considerable value which made gold user–friendly. Men cherished gold because it also had a constant value due to its special physical and chemical properties. The standard numerical unit of measuring goods and services ' market value is simply known as unit of account. It is mandatory for forming commercial agreements. In order for money to function as a unit of account, it must be divisible into smaller units without a loss of value, fungible, and have a specific weight, measure or size in order to be verifiable countable. Lastly, money must be able to be reliably stored, saved and retrieved in order for it to function as a store of value. Likewise, it must be usable as a medium of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of The Solow Paradox <a href="http://www.geocities.com/vaksam/">Sam Vaknin's Psychology, Philosophy, Economics and Foreign Affairs Web Sites The PRODUCTIVE HARDWARE The world is debating the Solow Paradox. Named after the Nobel laureate in economics, it was stated by him thus: "You can see the computer age everywhere these days, except in the productivity statistics". The venerable economic magazine, "The Economist" in its issue dated July 24th, quotes the no less venerable Professor Robert Gordon ("one of America's leading authorities on productivity") – p.20: "...the productivity performance of the manufacturing sector of the United States economy since 1995 has been abysmal rather than admirable. Not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has been duly detected by Robert Gordon in his "Has the 'New Economy' rendered the productivity slowdown obsolete?". But for this increased productivity to trickle down to the rest of the economy a few conditions have to be met. The transition from old technologies to a new one (the computer renders many a technology obsolete) must not involve too much "creative destruction". The costs of getting rid of old hardware, software, of altering management techniques or adopting new ones, of shedding redundant manpower, of searching for new employees to replace the unqualified or unqualifiable, of installing new hardware, software and of training new people in all levels of the corporation are enormous. They must never exceed the added benefits of the newly introduced technology in the long run. Hence the crux of the debate. Is IT more expensive to introduce, run and maintain than the technologies that it so confidently aims to replace? Will new technologies be spun off the core IT in a pace sufficient to compensate for the disappearance of old ones? As the technology mature, will it overcome its childhood maladies (lack of operational reliability, bad design, non–specificity, immaturity of the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Education Medium For The Course As part of the teaching team instructing a first year course in American History, there is a lot to cover in a semester. My part of the module consists of educating the students about slavery in nineteenth–century America. Solomon Northup's memoir, 12 Years A Slave will be part of the curriculum, since it is an authentic piece of history in American slavery. However, as the instructor, I need to decide what educational medium to use. I have the choice of the book/memoir itself or the academy award winning film. Both mediums have their advantages and disadvantages as a teaching aid. After some consideration, I will be using the film as the education medium for the course. While the book is a fountain of information, I believe the film will be more beneficial for a first year history course. This film will truly engage the students and give them a better understanding of the unfortunate events of historical slavery. Though, the film is not the primary evidence of slavery, it does portray authenticity. As long as the film does not forfeit its historical accuracies for entertainment value, then it should be used as an educational tool. However, loss of accurate historical information is not an issue since this Hollywood film manages to accurately depict history. For starters, the actors and actresses that were cast were true to their detailed descriptions in the book. The students can visualize the characters and their personalities in the film. Medium: Papier-Mâche Title 1: Still–Life with modern food Medium: Papier–mâché Size: Intention: The transcription piece is based on the painting Still–Life with Fruit Basket and Game made by Frans Snijders, in ca. 1620. The idea of my artwork was to portray the difference between food now and in the past. Nowadays the modern food does not represent the natural origin. The cold colors show my dislike for cosmetically selected and unhealthy food. The last drawing permitted me to creatively portray my fruit using a mix of mediums. The first two drawings had a set requirement. The art piece had to be the original drawing of a fruit or vegetable and in addition to that the first drawing was asked to be fully rendered using pencil and had to be done in pencil crayon for the second artwork. 2. WHAT PART OF YOUR ARTWORK DID YOU FIND THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AND WHY? I find my first artwork to be the best one compared to the other two. I was able to show many different shades and value through the use of graphite. In addition, I am more comfortable using pencils compared to the other medias I have used for the other artworks. It was much simpler to express texture as well, allowing me to believe that the first graphite drawing was the best. 3. WHAT PART OF YOUR ARTWORK DID YOU FIND LEAST SUCCESSFUL AND WHY? I find my last artwork least successful as it did not turn out the way I have imagined. The use of markers did give the bold feel to the art piece; however, the colouring technique was ... They do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism. They are among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow in different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci. Growth within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or ovoid shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped bacilli with tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it is flexible and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two–cell arrangements) (. Bacteria are usually named for their shape or multicell arrangement, but cannot be truly identified by just those characteristics (Strelkauskas, Edwards, Fanhert, Pryor, 2016). Bacteria can be classified by the way they stain. They are clear under a microscope and require staining to be seen. To stain a bacteria, one takes a dye to color the cells. There is more than one way to challenge power, but this paper will explain three main mediums. The three mediums that will be analyzed include: lyrics, genre and performance venue/context. Lets first start with lyrics ability to challenge power. The lyrics of a song are what work specifically with the audience to give meaning. It is the words people hear that give them the easiest insight in to what the artist's intentions were with regards to overall meaning and purpose. Think about the following lyrics, "We live in a political world/Love don't have any place," (Political World, Bob Dylan). These lyrics by Bob Dylan are stating that because of the state of the world, love no longer has a place in it, so there is only hate. They are a direct challenge against the political ideologies, specifically those that Bob Dylan doesn't agree with. The idea is to create a significant amount of depth to the appearance of your hair, something that the hair stylist will do after the initial cut is made. Popularity of Medium Length Layered Haircuts One of the primary reasons that this type of haircut is so popular with women is because it's easy to maintain. Women with long hair may have to spend several hours washing their hair, drying it, and getting it to a state of perfection. The advent of computers resulted in the replacement of paper–and–pencil tests as the primary medium of test delivery, with computerized versions, overseen by a proctor. Technological innovations such as surveillance equipment, and random sampling from large item pools, evolved to aid in minimizing cheating during proctored tests (Gibby et al., 2009; Bartram 2009). The following proliferation of high speed internet into homes and public settings allowed some employers to adopt UIT in order to cut costs of pre–employment test administration while reaching a more diverse pool of applicants. Many selection officials, however, continue to use proctored tests for preliminary screening of applicants. The reasons for some selection officials resistance to adopting UIT has yet to be researched. Perceptions of pre–employment tests Previous research has examined selection officials ' use and perceptions of various types of pre–employment tests used to measure a variety of constructs. Researchers have also examined factors likely to contribute to selection officials ' choice to use a particular test. A qualitative study by König, Jöri, and Knüsel (2011) served as a basis for examining how selection officials choose pre–employment tests by investigating how Swiss human resource (HR) managers perceived various selection instruments and the constructs on which these instruments were compared. Exercise 4 : Use Selective And Differential Media EXERCISE 4 : USE OF SELECTIVE AND DIFFERENTIAL MEDIA TO IDENTIFY AND CULTURE BACTERIA INTRODUCTION Culturing bacteria on a media has been an important laboratory technique since Robert Koch discovered how to grow bacteria in a petri dish. Bacteria will cultivate successfully on the media if the right nutrients, temperature, humidity, pH and any other specific conditions were provided. The most basic and common medium of growth on the nutrient broth, which contains water, beef extract and peptone. Although most bacteria will grow in this medium, some bacteria are fastidious and require special growth supplements such as blood or sugar. Further in mixed populations where it would be difficult to isolate the minority type of organism in a simple medium. Therefore, media can be divided into different types depending on the chemical composition in order to help isolate selected microorganism's. The commonly used media are differential, enriched and selective media. Selective media generally contains ingredients that inhibit the growth of unwanted bacteria. For example, nutrient agar (NA) is commonly used to select for the gram negative microorganism culture media. This is because, nutrient agar contains the antibiotic penicillin that preventing the growth of gram positive bacteria. Another example of selective media is Mannitol salt agar (MSA). First, we had half the class measure medium eggs, while the other half measured the large eggs. After we had found the masses of both medium and large eggs we compiled our data. The mean of both types of eggs were found leading toward a comparison using the t–test. Based on the evidence, the null hypothesis was rejected. It was reasonable to conclude that there was a difference between both medium and large eggs. The results did not support our hypothesis which is: there is not a difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The largest medium egg was about equal to the smallest large egg. The mean of the medium eggs was 48.84 grams (s.d. +/– 1.86114). The large eggs ranged from 53.34g to 65.98. The mean of these numbers is 59.76 (s.d. +/– 3.84559). The t test was calculated to be 0.702 proving the null hypothesis wrong. DISCUSSION The findings show that there is a difference in the medium and large eggs. Large eggs were found to weigh more than the medium eggs. If medium eggs would have had similar mean weights we could have concluded that both sets of eggs are the same. The t test showed us that the null hypothesis was not present between both sets of eggs; also, voiding our original hypothesis stating that there was not a difference between between medium and large eggs. Although this experiment was completed with precise care, there may be some inaccuracies present such as the cracking of an egg. Although this may be an inaccuracy, it is highly unlikely that this had any significant impact on the data. The evidence shown leads the conclusion that medium eggs and large eggs are different. Although this might be true for this particular brand, there is no guarantee this is true for other brands of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This day is for commemorating our loved ones who have sadly abandoned us in this dimension we call life. It's a tradition to place the favorite objects of our loved ones near their tombstone and celebrate the fact they existed . I pray along with my family while remembering my grandfather's anecdotes and life lessons. We speak of the tragedy of our beloved father, uncle, brother and to me grandfather that has left us. Tears and heartaches fill our souls, the remembrance of our sweet old man cause us pain that's impossible to explain. It's the day where we freely speak of his death without ... I'm aware that there is people who feed on the agony and yearning of others and I would loathe to be the victim of a fraud. I'm grateful that god has placed several fascinating human beings who can assist us on overcoming the death of our beloved by granting us an opportunity of a lifetime of one last time communicating with them. I appreciate the presence of these remarkable human beings, but I also find it intolerable when they abuse of the beautiful gift god has granted them and utilize it as a business possibility. In my opinion the desire of speaking to your beloved shouldn't have a price tag. I ask god how we can distinguish between truth and false, but I sadly I have not received a response. I suppose that if I ever locate a medium that my instinct will let me distinguish if it's true or false. I think that by paying close regard to my instinct god will finally respond to my ... • 65. The Importance Of Classroom Management "Classroom management must reflect the personality and teaching style of the individual teacher and is a skill that must be learned, practiced, and evaluated, and modified to fit the changing situations in classrooms." (Burden, 2017) For a teacher to find their model of discipline that works for them and their students it begins with trial and error. Nothing starts off smoothly but through time a teacher can find a wave of motion on what method of discipline would work for the flow of the classroom, the attitude of the students, and the teacher's personality and comfort level. Throughout time teachers can find that flow of establishing the appropriate dominance in the classroom, other than being the adult. One of the methods for establishing the dominance of the classroom is to have clear expectations for the preferred behavior in the classroom, the teacher needs to set in stone the rules and procedures, and by providing consequences for the disruptive student behavior. The class can establish the rules and procedures through, possibly, a class discussion and everyone, the students and teacher, can be on mutual circumstances. Besides the clarity of the rules and procedures, the teacher needs acknowledge the students' behavior; having the ability to reinforce between the acceptable behavior and the negative behavior and by respectfully putting out the consequences for the unruly behavior. Cooperation in the classroom will show the dominance and respect of both the students and teacher in respect to the students' needs and opinions of the world around them. Cooperation focuses on the class to function as a team. Finding the respect of the class could start by providing flexible learning goals. Giving students that respect by letting them set their own milestones at the beginning of the unit can give everyone the sense of cooperation and sends out the message that the teacher cares. "A continuum showing a range of low to high teacher control can be used to illustrate the various educational views, and the various discipline models can be placed on the continuum. A model of discipline is a set of cohesive approaches to deal with establishing, maintaining, and restoring order in the classroom that represent a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Meaning the Medium Is the Message What is the Meaning of The Medium is the Message? by Mark Federman Former Chief Strategist McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology a culture like ours, long accustomed to splitting and dividing all things as a means of control, it is sometimes a bit of a shock to be reminded that, in operational and practical fact, the medium is the message. This is merely to say that the personal and social consequences of any medium – that is, of any extension of ourselves – result from the new scale that is introduced into our affairs by each extension of ourselves, or by any new technology." (McLuhan, 1964, p. 7) Thus begins the classic work of Marshall McLuhan, Understanding Media, in which he introduced the world to his enigmatic paradox, "The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of a specific theatrical production, its message may be a change in attitude or action on the part of the audience that results from the medium of the play itself, which is quite distinct from the medium of theatrical production in general. Similarly, the message of a newscast are not the news stories themselves, but a change in the public attitude towards crime, or the creation of a climate of fear. A McLuhan message always tells us to look beyond the obvious and seek the nonobvious changes or effects that are enabled, enhanced, accelerated or extended by the new thing. McLuhan defines medium for us as well. Right at the beginning of Understanding Media, he tells us that a medium is "any extension of ourselves." Classically, he suggests that a hammer extends our arm and that the wheel extends our legs and feet. Each enables us to do more than our bodies could do on their own. Similarly, the medium of language extends our thoughts from within our mind out to others. Indeed, since our thoughts are the result of our individual sensory experience, speech is an "outering" of our senses – we could consider it as a form of reversing senses – whereas usually our senses bring the world into our minds, speech takes our sensorially–shaped minds out to the world. But McLuhan always thought of a medium in the sense of a growing medium, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term psychic medium refers to a person thought to have the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension through extra sensory perception or paranormal powers. While a medium will always be psychic, a psychic is not always a medium. The main objective of a mediums work is to prove survival of the human personality or spirit after death and to help the bereaved come to terms with their loss. Sacred forms of experience were scorned and disparaged and eventually a certain kind of science came to dominate our thinking; the old wisdom traditions were forced to take a back seat. Of course, it's easy to tote up the pluses of Science, which has freed us from ignorance and superstition, cleared the way to mastering the forces of nature, extended life and made things comfortable for the affluent in capitalist societies. On the other hand, according to the official view, consciousness peeps out momentarily, and is destined to vanish forever after death. Science has torn down the ancient myths, and made the implausibility of life after death an article of faith. The effects of these phenomena have a great impact on human society. You can find these finches at Daphne Major, in the center of Galapagos island. Daphne Major is also located near South America in the South Pacific ocean. When Charles Darwin came onto the island he wondered why there were many different species of the finches, then he hypothesized that a group of finches might have came in from South America. Jennifer Grotz's Medium In the poem "Medium," Jennifer Grotz utilizes various examples of selective memory, phallic symbols, and yonic symbols to demonstrate a man raping a girl and ultimately leading to the realization of his mistake and evidently his suicide. She describes the situation in which she is being contacted by the man who raped her, and uses hidden language to compare her unwilling experience with him and his attempt at suicide. It is obvious that Grotz belittles the intruder's suicide by speaking in an ironic, nonchalant tone due to the fact that she does not care if he dies because of what he did to her.
