2. House style is where a magazine uses similar
layout and structure within the magazine. For
example same colours, masthead font, logo and
placement of pictures.
House style is used by nearly every magazine in
the industry today, it gives the magazine a specific
layout, allowing the magazine to be easily
distinguished by an audience.
Keeping things the same within the magazine is
essential as it allows the reader to have familiarity
when reading the magazine, it is effective so in
shops the reader knows exactly what to look out
for when looking to purchase the next issue.
3. Some magazine use their mastheads as their house style for examle
’NME’, they use their masthead to create a brand , in every issue the
masthead is always in the top left hand side of the page. It is the same
size and same font in every issue. Using this consistent house style
creates an brand identity.
4. The front page and double page spread keep a consistent house
style. The artists featured on the front page are featured in the
double page spread. Additionally the paint that is on their clothing in
the front page is used on the double page spread.
5. There is a consistent house style in the Q magazine, the use of features
such as the box saying ‘ the month in music’ Is used throughout different
double page spreads, the house style is kept consistent as it is on the top
left hand side in each page.
Additionally house style is maintained in the Q magazine with the use of
drop caps.
