Essay about Unarmed Bravery in To Kill a Mockingbird by...
Many Children receive Bravery Awards every year around the world, and none of them hold any weapons or punch someone in the face to prove
that they are brave, unlike what the majority of people picture it. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus believed that true
bravery and courage is facing the negativities of life and society persistently, and by sticking to your belief no matter what the cost is. Jem and Mrs.
Dubose are two characters that strongly apply to Atticus's meaning of bravery and courage. Mrs. Dubose was a real brave woman in the eyes of
Atticus. Atticus tried to teach his children the true meaning of bravery by setting her as an example. Mrs. Dubose struggled so hard to die in the way
that she wanted to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jem also represented true bravery in several situations throughout the story. Without Jem realizing it, he applied the true meaning of courage and
bravery in his actions. Jem started to believe that in order to do what is right, he has to bear the bad consequences of what he does. '"Dill's eyes
flickered at Jem, and Jem looked at the floor. Then he rose and broke the remaining code of our childhood. He went out of the room and down the
hall. "Atticus," his voice was distant, 'can you come here a minute, sir?' "' (Harper Lee, 151) Most of the time, Jem was hiding secrets from Atticus
ignoring the fact that it could cause harm to him, Dill or Scout. At the first time when he told Atticus about Boo Radley, he hesitated at first because
he feared that Atticus would punish him. In this quote, he did not show any signs of hesitation despite knowing that Dill might get mad at him, and
that indicates how he is better at bearing the consequences of his actions now. Jem broke the wall of fear and began to stand for his personal terms in
difficult situations. "In the midst of this strange assembly, Atticus stood trying to make Jem mind him. "I ain't going" was his steady answer to
Atticus's threats, requests, and finally, "Please Jem, take them home."" (Harper Lee, 163) When Jem called Atticus on Dill, Jem did not fully
experience the true meaning of real bravery because the situation was a bit calm. It is known for a fact

One Flew Over The Cuckoo 's Nest By Ken Kesey
In the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo 's Nest by Ken Kesey we are taken into the mind of a mental hospital patient who does not seem to cope
well with reality. The whole book itself, revolves around the issue of either being sane or not. We are met with the thought of whether the narrator
themselves are sane. But when it comes to our world today, we must ask ourselves how can we define someone as insane or sane? If if we can, who
should be in charge of saying that they are? The first character that we are introduced to, is Bromden, or "Chief Bromden," throughout the story we see
him telling the story of how he see's the ward and other patients, but even though we never find out the exact reason as to why he is in the mental
hospital, we do see his story in small glimpses throughout the book. When we first meet Bromden, we see that he is very shy and timid. People at
the ward have even mistaken him as being deaf and mute. While he is not, he chooses to pretend as if he is, because it is much easier to hide and
not be seen this way. Because he is deaf and mute, he is mistaken as being mentally ill. While we never find out how he got to the hospital or why,
we do know that he has chosen to conform to being in the hospital. But what exactly makes him think that he is insane and that he must be in the
hospital? Could it be society, or could it simply be the way he look at the world around him? At this time, it could have most likely been the society in
which he lived in. In

Role of the Fathers in Chaim Potok’s The Chosen Essay
Role of the Fathers in Chaim Potok's The Chosen
Chaim Potok's The Chosen is the story of a lasting friendship that blossoms between two Jewish boys, Danny Saunders and Reuven Malter, during and
after World War II. On a deeper level, much of the plot focuses on the character of their fathers
–Reb Saunders and David Malter–whose beliefs and
ideals are rooted in two separate worlds. Reb Saunders is a zealous Hasidic rabbi who wants to impart his knowledge of his religion upon Danny and
expects his son to follow in his footsteps. David is a professor and single father who comes from a liberal Jewish background. As the friendship between
Reuven and Danny grows, both fathers try to reconcile their views with their sons and with their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For hours, no words are traded, with the exception of a discussion of a Talmudic passage.
On the other hand, Reuven and David mutually support the notion that the lines of communication between them should always be open. Whenever
Reuven struggles with a problem or simply a question, regardless the significance, he comes directly to his father for assistance. David listens intently
and offers a few suggestions or delivers a thorough answer to his son's query. For example, when Reuven wonders about Danny, David answers with a
lengthy and detailed account. This demonstrates not only the comfort they bear in talking to each other but also the patience they've developed that has
stemmed from their communication. Despite their lack of communication, Reb Saunders and his son share the same admiration, respect, and trust for
each other that are consistent with Reuven's and David's relationship.
Although Reb Saunders carries the overwhelming responsibility of being tzaddik and David Malter is often absorbed in his journalistic efforts, both
fathers demonstrate through their actions the tremendous concern they possess for the well–being and overall happiness of their sons. At first, the
caring nature of Reb Saunders is not apparent, especially considering his complete silence with Danny. However, toward the end, he reacts to Danny's
decision to become involved in the secular world not with rage but acceptance. This

How Do People Affect Us And How Much They Impact Us?
Throughout your lifetime people will come in and out of your life, what we never consider is how much that person will affect us and how much they
impact us. When someone comes into your life and makes you feel special or important, and they start to change, and continue to hurt you, you start to
realize that something has to change and it might be time to move on.
It had been 8 months, my boyfriend and I had been together off and on. I had invested time, love and energy into this relationship. There have been
hard times with him where I just wanted to give up on us but I couldn't. He was constantly going out and I would be forced to stay in the house,
this caused me to not trust him because I knew he was going to be out messing around with females. In the back of my head I knew he had been
out messing with other females and I always wanted to speak up I just never had any proof. And I could always tell when he was lying, so I
always knew when he was out creeping or lying about where he was going. The things he did hurt me, and affected me in a big way, my ex caused
me to feel insecure, weak, and vulnerable. Not only did he hurt me physically but he damaged me mentally. I trusted this guy with my heart, mind, and
time; he was my best friend, and my lover and he managed to break all of the trust I had for him within seconds. It's stated in Cheat Sheet that "Getting
cheated on can leave you with an indescribably bad feeling that never seems to completely go away" (Sheriesa).

Graduation Speech Essay
For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit
through many more ceremonies –– ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college
graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend
a Bar Mitzvah.
The only ceremony I think anybody would truly enjoy attending is a funeral. But, only if you are lucky enough, or unlucky enough, to be the guest of
honor, because, really, that will be the only time you will be able to be honored at a ceremony and not have to make chit... Show more content on

What I did, was grab a random book off my book shelf. Then I chose a random page from that randomly chosen book. And then, I chose a random
sentence, from that randomly chosen page, from that randomly chosen book. The results were interesting, if not remarkable. I think it's a great theme
and so let me share. My book was Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights," my page was page 10, chapter two. My quote, and as of now, theme for my
speech, is: "My neighbor struck me as bordering on repulsive, I knew, through experience, that I was tolerably attractive." Wow! I think that, that is one
great theme. It works.
(Pull out pocket mirror)
I am tolerably attractive. As for my neighbor. Well, you be the judge. Really, what are the chances of two attractive people sitting next to each other.
Not likely. Why not try it yourselves. Visualize yourself, or if you have access to a mirror, look at yourself. Alluring huh? I bet you have to admit,
you're tolerably attractive. Who are you kidding? You are foxy. You are a fox. If you were aQuentin Tarantino movie, you would be Foxy Brown.
Now tear yourself away from your own adorable self and turn to your right. See that person. Pretty appalling. If it's a man, he's not very handsome is
he? If it's a woman, not very pretty is she? And if you cannot tell what sex it is? Well I have got three words: Re–Pug–Nant. See, this is not just a
theme for my speech, it is a rule for life. You

Facts About The United States
Facts About the United States I believe most of us have been to a foreign country at least one time in his/her life. Visiting other countries during
vacation is a typical way to explore new cultures as well as new places. However, there is no feeling similar to the fact that you are going to live in
a foreign country by yourself. A country you know no one living in. What makes this feeling even harder is what you hear about that country. Is
what we hear about the US true? Or is someone trying to get advantages from distributing unreal thoughts about the US? I keep asking myself
these questions and yet I have no answer. Before I came to the US, I heard hundreds of thousands of stories about the US. Stories that I would not
have traveled to the US if I had believed in. And until yet, there still are many people who believe in these stories. One of the most common stories
is that American people are hard to deal with. I mean, if they do not like what you say or if you do something they do not like, you would get killed
right away. But, after I traveled to the US, I did not see that. Well, some people do carry guns with them at all times, but they never kill anyone. They
just use their guns for self–defense. So, if you do not hurt them, they will not hurt you. I believe people from all over the world have the same concept,
but I do not know why we ignore this fact and we only focus on American people. Not only was carrying guns the only scary thought

Philosophy of Life Essay
"All that I'm after is a life full of laughter" (Life After You
– Daughtry). Everyone has their own personal outlook on life. Some people feel like money
and success bring them happiness, others feel like love is all they need. As Aristotle once said, "Happiness is believed to be the most desirable thing
in the world..." (Aristotle) Everyone wants different things. I however, feel like you don't need a lot to be happy in life, it's the little things that count.
Having your family and friends, and people who care about you, falling in love and having that person with whom you can disclose your trust with,

You cannot look for love, love finds you. It is unexpected and seems unrealistic, but once I encountered what love really was everything changed. All of
a sudden nothing else seems to matter; your priorities, your thoughts, and your actions all become about this person. Youwant to do everything to make
them happy, and if they are then you are to. Once you find someone who you can share anything with and who makes you feel as if you have
everything in the world and you don't need anything else, thats love. That is what I think helps you reach your ultimate happiness, having that person
who you can share your life with. To see other people pleased puts a smile on my face. I think everyone needs help getting through hard times and
problems throughout their lives, and helping people overcome their obstacles helps me reach my ultimate happiness. Everyone goes through road
blocks in their lives. Whether they are small and they don't know what boy to date, or big where they lost someone close to them, people need help
making decision and going on in life. I enjoy listening to peoples problems, I enjoy putting them before myself and going out of my way to make sure
the people I love and the people who need me are happy. This is what should bring happiness into everyones life. Knowing I just helped someone

me wrong. You have made me very happy just by sharing yourself and your life with me. The memories will stay in my heart forever. From the time
we first started going out until now, you have unfailingly shown me how it is to be really cared for and cherished. At the same time you have

now the cause of this pain. I thought you could shelter me forever––––that you would be careful that I wouldn't get hurt. But carelessness on your end,

Questions On The Parenting Plan
Alvin,
I have some things that I would like to discuss with you, regarding the parenting plan. I recognize the two of us have sort of have steered away from a
few details and feel we need to get back on track.
EXCHANGE
Initially, when creating the parenting plan, the two of us agreed to meet half–way for exchange since you were living in Spring Hill, and I in Palm
Harbor. This is why we chose the church. Since you moved to New Port Richey a few months back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt
comfortable meeting there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5 minutes away from the church; making it an
exchange location no longer half–way. After this past Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not to happen, I realized how
unfair that is to me. For this reason, I would like to change the exchange location to be closer to the middle again. According to Google Maps there
is slightly under 30 minutes' drive (with no traffic) between our addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs.
This is still further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an excellent location for a comfortable swap. Please let me know if this
is not plausible, thus an agreement can be made on this matter.
I would even consider possibly the parent who is getting the children drives the full distance to pick up, making meeting locations within 5 minutes of
the home address (so for

Journey Towards Faith : The Journey Toward Faith Essay
Journey Toward Faith
There are many religions in the world that people belong to or believe in. Believing in something higher gives us a strong hold on motivation and
faith. Many people are born into a religion, but not everyone continues to believe or follow the religion they grew up in. As we get older we start to
understand why we practice our beliefs and not the others.
I was born into a Christian family. When I was young I didn 't understand the whole religion processes or why I really prayed. I just knew that I went to
church every Sunday and prayed to a man named God. After a few years my family and I stopped going to church as often. We only went once in a
while and always went during Christmas, Easter, and New Year. That all changed when I got my car and I became close friends the the pastor 's
daughter and nieces. I told me self I would go to church every Sunday and try to learn who God was and get closer to him.
In February I went to a church convention called Winterfest in Rochester, New York. The event was nothing I expected. It wasn 't your ordinary
church. It was a three day convention for youths with a stage, strobe lights, poets, rappers, singers, and bishops. They preached in the language of the
teenagers. It was an experience of a life time. I witnessed teens younger and older than me catch the Holy Spirit. I always thought it was something
adults got. I never really understood what it was until that I experienced it myself. That was the day I

Differences Between Worldview And Worldview Essay
Differing Worldviews Worldview, how a person views the world, affects all parts of a person's life and attempts to answer the foundational questions of
knowledge, G–d, origin, miracles, and thought. Many factors influence a person's worldview some factors include geography, family background,
religious background, schooling, and many others. When two people with two different worldviews interact with one another, some interesting
points where they agree and disagree with each other can arise even if the conversation is one way. In trying to find a person to interview
concerning their worldview, I decided to interview my cousin, Andi, and had the opportunity to talk with her over the phone as she headed to her
volleyball tournament. During this conversation, Andi answered a lot of questions I had about her religion, and was also able to get a glimpse into
some of what she believed. Throughout our conversations I would ask some foundational questions, and her answers would start a chain of other
questions that lead to a very informative and intriguing interview, one that left me thinking about what I believed on the issues I posed to her. The
first series of questions I asked Andi, concerned her background both religious and familial. To begin the conversation, I asked her where she had
lived during her life, and she replied saying that she had always lived in Alabama, which is part of the Bible belt, and that somehow this "has not
affected my beliefs." At first it

What happens when the world's largest green building will also be the world's largest shopping mall? You get a building fueled by renewable energy
that harbors within its walls unsustainable patterns of consumption. This green mall, Destiny USA, is expected to open in Syracuse, New York. Destiny
is a proposed $4.2 billion project that will use green building technology to create a complex that will be home to an amphitheater, an aquarium, 500

This technology could spread to the rest of Syracuse and would be a way to introduce concepts of sustainability to people who visit Destiny. Sounds
like a good plan, but in reality might fall short of its goals. Carl and Greg both felt that this project will fail, and that its failure will be attributed to its
green design, not the project's other characteristics. This could negatively affect other, smaller–scale 'green' projects. These types of projects would be
deemed risky investments and scare away potential investors, which would make the investment capital that is crucial to the start up of these projects
hard to come by.
An estimated 40 million people will visit Destiny annually–12 million from out of state (Destiny USA Website). Since Destiny's father, Pyramid CEO
Bob Congel, repeatedly states that he wants Destiny to be fossil fuel–free, it is ironic that plans include enormous parking garages and lots. How will
all of these millions of consumers reach Destiny? They will come by automobile. It is ridiculous to espouse that this project will be fossil fuel–free.

aren't things" (Graaf, Wann, & Naylor, 2014, p. 10). They a simpler life, devoid of too many unnecessary material products, has more benefits and less
restraints than an elaborate and lavish lifestyle. Material

City Commissioners of McAllen, Texas Spread Themsevles...
We all have a busy life where unfortunately we all don't get to focus our entire dedication to one thing. We are forced to focus on everything that is
going on in our lives all at the same time. Focusing our effort and energy on different things at the same time involves us not putting our full
dedication to each and every subject. When we go to work, work out, and spend some time with our families can we truly give our entire focus to each
and everything thing of these? I believe it is impossible because while doing one thing our mind gets interrupted by the other things we have to put
our focus in. Therefore, we do not all get to truly put our entire focus on each thing we have to take care of in our lives. I feel this is a great example ...

I feel that everything was discussed in a rush that it really did not give the commissioner's time to really think the issues that were discussed through.
The commissioner meetings have an agenda that must be followed and lets them be aware of all the subjects that need to be discussed. I know this
meeting was being rushed because there was one time that they even accidently skipped one subject and had to go back to it. I was told that usually
commissioner meetings are usually two hours long and this meeting was only one hour and eighteen minutes long. I must also say that not everyone in
the council think alike. I felt that some agreed and some disagreed by the comments and suggestions they would give to certain issues.
During the city commission meeting votes were taken. The voting would occur verbally. All those in favor would have to say the word "I" right
after they asked if they were in favor. It occurred often during the whole meeting. Most of the time there was one of the council members approving
and second as well and they would move on to another subject right after they finished voting. There was one time where one of the commissioners
neglected himself from saying any comments or being involved with the issue in any type of way. I did not understand what his reasons were for this

A Book Report On The Movie ' Nope ' Essay
Two and a half months ago, faith brought me to face with a guy who I used to consider horrible boyfriend material. He came off as rude, stubborn,
malicious, and cold–hearted to a fault. And that's just the start of a long list of his horrible characteristics. But somehow, and to my surprise, I ended up
falling for this guy. Now all I have to do is tell him and figure out if he feels the same about me. Easier said than done.
"Come on, Tre" I begged, wanting him to severely come to the haunted house with Tia, Michael, Mike, Naomi and me. We were in Mrs. Sorun's
Relationship Development I class at the time, doing what we usually do. Nothing. "I know you can make some spare time on your normal, non–busy
Saturday to join us."
"Nope," he denied for the seventh time. He was lying down on the table, with his typical left earbud in, trying to get some sleep in before our next
class. "I told you already, I hate being involved in your little group activities, which by the way be boring as hell, and wish you would stop including
me in them." See what I mean by when I say he can be rude, stubborn, malicious, and cold–hearted to a fault.
"Tia, help me out."
"You're coming tothe haunted house with us Dum–Dum and that's final," she demanded, giving him her famous death glare. "Any objections?"

Finding My Identity Essay
Having an identity and finding yourself isn't always the easiest task to do, luckily I think I've found myself and I'm proud with the way I am and carry
myself. Now, most people might not think that my outlook is the best way to go through life but fortunately I don't care what people think of me.
I like standing out and being different but not in a very noticeable way; I am a regular guy, I'm weird, random, odd and extraordinary and I've really
embraced the fact that I'm pretty apathetic. I've become this individual that really doesn't care about any outside opinions; as long as I feel comfortable
with myself and what I'm doing, everything's okay. I'll listen to your thoughts but I won't pay much attention to it afterwards.

I'm not really a religious person, my family is Catholic and although I do go to church every now and then, I don't consider myself to be devoted to
a higher power. I don't even believe we will all be judged when we die and let into a nice place called heaven. I think that whenever a person dies
they're just reborn in a hospital somewhere in the world, I don't know where I picked up this idea but it seems about right to me.
Education is a very important factor in the lives of many people but, personally, I think everyone in the world should rely on their basic instincts.
When teachers try to get through to me, I think that blocks them out. I learn better and get a good grasp on things when there's no one around. I can
concentrate better and get the work that needs to be done finished. Work should be handed to each person equally because everybody needs money.
Everybody should be given a shot at a job without being judged on their appearance or their way of life.
In my life, I haven't accomplished a lot except I passed the CAHSEE on my first try, if you can count that as an accomplishment. Right now I am set
on getting my high school diploma because even though people should use their natural instincts, I think I'll really need a diploma to have a better life.
In conclusion, the way I live my life is very particular, I don't give much attention to anyone and I don't like to receive much

Theme Of Redemption And Good Country People By Flannery O...
Flannery O 'Connor 's stories "A Good Man Is Hard to Find", and "Good Country People" both present very similar themes. Within these stories is the
theme of redemption, and the way relationships affect the way people interact with each other seem to be a core issue she struggles with. Both stories
have a protagonist that have to deal with some type of villain who has little to no belief, while their presence of faith that there is good in people gets
them into the horrible situations that they find themselves in. She uses some of the same aspects in both stories in very different ways. The
characters are a big part of her stories, the conflicts that arise in the story, and the symbolism that is used. This paper will explore how faith can
lead us to have false hope and why it is important to remain aware. In both stories there are seemingly different protagonist. First there is Hulga.
She is someone that rude, harsh, with Doctorate in Philosophy, and is appalled by the idea of love. Then you have a grandmother, who is always
looking back on the old days and a slight sense of wonder. From what O 'Connor gives the reader in their descriptions, there is not much similarities
happening. However, under the surface of these characters the reader can see that both characters are somewhat shallow and do not see this about
themselves. Hulga, even though she is highly educated she is a believer in nothing, all she knows is what to say and when to say it. This becomes
obvious when

How Literacy Is Used As A Communication Method
When it comes to understanding literacy I learned that reading, along with writing is used as a communication method. However, there 's so much
more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature.
Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of your culture, pronunciation, the way you
dress, as well as all of your actions. That being said, personally literature means not only knowing how to read and write, but the way we approach it
as an individual. For example, we are judged by the way we speak, look, act, where we come from, as well as how we were raised. Which is all ... Show

Although I love her deeply, the way she spoke always bothered me as a child. My sister always spoke "proper english" is what I will not call it, but
politely and she understood how to express herself and speak her mind in a polite manner. I was taught manners by my parents, greetings were
something you could not just pass by. "good morning" was to be said every morning to everyone in the house along with a kiss otherwise it was a
form of disrespect. A hug was followed with every goodbye. Even though you could have been upset with a family member you were required to
forgive them and let the past stay in the past. Mainly because you never know if you are going to see them tomorrow, living with regret is
something no one wants. My father always told me, since I was always a stubborn child, "forgiveness is not for the other person it is for you." At that
moment I realized he was right, the only person I was hurting all along was myself. Nevertheless, I have had a time where I had to teach myself
something that not only had disadvantages but some advantages as well. Learning how to think before I spoke, Speaking your mind and the truths was
always something I believed in. However, I never realized that sometimes you have to think about the consequences about your statement. Some days
you have to tell people what they want to hear, not the truth, but yes, in some occasions you have to speak your truths for the better of

The Importance Of Life : How Will You Be Remembered?
The Importance of Life How will you be remembered? "Just do me one favor, live your life the way you want and in the best way possible. Do
whatever makes you happy and when you think of me, think of all the good times we had. Please don't dwell on this moment. I am so proud of
you. I love you," spoke my great Aunt Debbie, a few hours before she passed. I will never forget the way her raspy voice sounded as she layed
there in that hospital bed and I layed there in mine. The only thing between us was a phone and a few hundred miles. If you could do anything to
have one more conversation with a loved one, would you take your chances? Sometimes too often, we don't say the things we want to say to the
ones we love and before we know it, it's too late. If I only had one chance to speak to my Aunt Debbie again, I would take it and I would tell her
how important she was to me. The first lesson she ever taught me was to always forgive. I will never be able to thank her enough for showing me that
forgiveness is one of the most important things in this life. I would thank her for always being so kind–hearted and so patient. I remember always
going to her house after school and she could always tell when I had a bad day. When she asked what happened, I would tell her step by step and when
I would finish, she would just sit there and smile at me. After a few seconds, she would ask if I was still upset. Every time I told her yes, she would

Character Analysis : ' Fan '
One of the moments from the play that I believed communicated the show's meaning powerfully was during scene two, "Fan," from section 1. This
was the scene where two characters, a man, and a woman, were arguing about a silly topic about who love a certain famous person more, a male
specifically. The funny thing about this specific scene was that both of the characters were willing to do a few unbelievable and somewhat vulgar to
prove their love for the famous guy. For example, the male character was willing to "eat dogsh*t," "eat fire," and even "eat cat food," just to see the
star in life and get to touch him. The male character even went as far as delusionally describing how their exact birth hour was similar when it was not.

There were no blinding lights for this scene except for a white spotlight that shone on them indicating that it was a light–hearted scene full of fluffy
infatuation and fun. The music for this scene was not at all ominous unlike how they were for a good majority of the play. The instrumentals for this
scene gave off a care–free vibe throughout the scene mostly. The music then changed and gave off a slightly more serious vibe when both of the
characters realized that they both forgot what their idol's favorite smell was and panicked when the both of them could not find the information from
the magazine. These productions led me to believe that the meaning of the play was about how love itself is also information. The dialogue when they
were arguing about who love the idol more and seeing how they were both climbing the monkey bars like wooden booth structure led to the idea that
certain information such as what their favorite idol's smell was is unnecessary information when it comes to love. It is understandable that one would
want to know as much information as they are allowed to about the person that they love, but something like not knowing a person's favorite smell,
should not cause one insomnia because she/he cannot "go to sleep without finding out." Simply because it's not something that should even be relevant
when it comes to your love for them. Seeing how the characters both got upset without each other due to the fact that neither of them knew the

Speculations About Life And Death
Speculations about life and death have always been present in society. Herein, people will often think about the things they would do differently from
the usual way of doing things. It is evident where one is asked to think about what he or she would do if they had only a few minutes or days or even
years left to live. Many would choose to do things such as having their favorite meals, listening to their dearest music, sitting with their family members
and spending time with them, or to pray and ask for forgiveness from their god to the very last moment. However, I would not choose any of these
things as I believe that the way I have always lived my life is in accordance with good morals as though everyday will be my last. Instead, I would
continue to live the same way I did for the past several years or so.
Human beings have a tendency to always fear death whenever it seems to be closely approaching. This is evident where an individual with a
chronic disease is given a timeline within which they have left to live; they change their ways so dramatically. It may seem as though a new being
has come up ever since the doctors diagnosed the disease. If the individual was not religious, he or she would be seen embracing one of the various
religions present in a bid to find favor with the supernatural deities. People believe that this action is an opportunity to turn around their horrid ways
with some level of dignity left in them. No matter how horrible this individual may be,

Okay, I won't hold my breath! Knowing I was really going to be waiting. Then Aunt grace said, "oh yes because you know I am the matchmaker". I

Redefine Freedom: The Lie that Benefits us All
Redefine Freedom: The Lie that Benefits us All
Freedom is defined as "the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint." It is explained to be an all or nothing;
there is no black and white with freedom. The Trap stands to say the within the confined of the prevailing systems of democracy and government there
is no such thing as freedom but simply the illusion of it. The Trap goes back in time and isolates the moments when the idea of freedom slipped away
and became a mirage engrossed in concepts of equality, normality and control. Adam Curtis, the producer of The Trap, reminds us that the government
was elected under oath to "liberate the individual [from bureaucracy]." Although what the trap stands to show us, that we live in a society full of lies, is
undeniable, one can also argue that the society that we live in fulfills that requirements of freedom we suggest.
To be truly free in the western civilization you must be able to reach the goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Trap believes that
even though people believed that they were more oppressed back in the days, it shows that it's worse now because back then people knew they didn't
have freedom, they knew they were being controlled but now we're being controlled and we don't even know it. "Human beings will always betray
you. You can only trust the numbers." It's believed that the only thing that can be trusted is numbers for they had no bias or self–interest.

The Dark Knight of the Soul
Questions for a second reading
2. Throughout Miller's essay, he follows a similar format in the way he states his opinion about the connection between reading and writing to his
readers. With every subheading, he tells a story of the influence of reading and writing on the protagonist of each story. Every subheading begins with
the introduction of the protagonists through the final outcome of their actions. For example, the first story of the two boys, Harris and Klebold begins
with the revelation of what they have done–murdering fifteen people with weapons they created on their own. This knowledge to create such weapons
and to follow through with such an act is all blamed upon technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe what Miller is trying to say is that the readers and the writers are supposed to identify and assess on our own about what should and should
not influence us and we should "balance" the information we take in and the ones we leave out. "[T]he connections that count" are the reasonable ideas
that we can apply to the real world.
If we were to act upon idealism like the protagonists in Miller's stories do, and what Miller suggests becomes a goal for the subject in high schools and
colleges, learning would no longer be about sitting and listening to lectures in a classroom, acquiring knowledge from a textbook, or even discussing
among the class. Instead, a new way of learning in which the participants in the class would be required to explore the topic or subject at hand. It
almost seemed as if Miller suggests that the students experience first–hand on what they've been taught. This might be the only way to make the
connections that we need to from reality and idealism and to understand and learn from it like in Miller's stories that he refers to. When considering
the literal meaning of " arms out, balancing", a person would sometimes fall and lean towards one side and then to the other until he or she can balance
in a stationary stature. When looking at the phrase figuratively and relating it to reality and idealism, one would at first be unstable until you can find
the balance between the two. This would

I Am Not A Public Speaker
My Journey
I'd finally hit rock bottom. There was nowhere else to go.
And the horrible reality I didn't ever want to face was now right in front of me.
Waiting for something to be done.
I wanted to run. Away from everything.
But I needed to face it.
I had to.
I did.
I have.
Yet, when my sister asked me to share my experiences on this blog, I was scared: what do I say? How do I say it? How will people react?
I am not a public speaker; is not for everyone. But I believe I have finally found my voice, regardless of whether it is verbal or written.
Everyone goes through steps of pain and grief in different ways; this is mine.
I was 5.
We look to our parents to be protectors.
My father told me growing up that what was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, all that she was left with was the watery eyes of a ten year old, and a deafening silence of which she didn't question.
I was scared.
I was scared I would be ripped apart from her.
No one would believe you anyway.
But I wanted to tell her.
Yet, I could never bring myself to do it.
Because of him.
He wasn't this horrible man all the time; he wasn't a monster. I thought my mum had a good marriage. I knew she loved my father, and I didn't want to
ruin that.
Yet, that never stopped me from seeing him as two different people.
He wasn't just horrible all the time; he was my dad.
It came in spurts. Sometimes it would happen for two weeks – these awful, horrible things – then six to eight months would go by and he would be this
amazing father.
And I don't know if it took a couple of years for him to groom me into this situation; how he gained my trust, believing him when he was telling me he
was teaching me.
I was confused.
I felt like it was dirty and I felt that it was wrong.
And I hated it, but...
I enjoyed the attention I got from him.
He made me feel like a horrible person, but I wanted him to love me.
I was his daughter.
I didn't want to lose that part of him, and I was scared if I told my mother she wouldn't believe me or I would ruin her marriage, and that I would lose
the only father figure I had.
So I reasoned inwardly that if my mother ever wanted to ask me about that day, she would.
And I would tell her

My First Obsession Is Life
I have 10 obsessions in life. I'm not sure if they will ever go away. But life would be no fun without any obsessions.
My first obsession is life. I love life and what you can do with it. I love the way people laugh at a joke or become afraid when watching a scary movie.
It amazes me how children feel most safe in their parents arms. And how you learn so much from how other people before you had lived their life. I
think this one of my obsessions because life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. You never know when your time is up. So enjoying every second
in my eyes is how you 'll have the best life possible. My second obsession is family. I have always loved how families looked in a magazine or on TV.
I love that parents will do anything to make sure their children are loved and safe. And that families do things together and love each other no
matter what. Parents that play outside with the kids and go to games and concerts. When a child gets hurt, there is a parent there to pick them up.
I think this is one of my obsessions because my mom had me taken away when I was really young. I don 't ever remember her ever picking me up
when I fell down or tucking me in at night and kissing me on the forehead. For a while it was my grandma who did all this but then she got sick,
and I had to live with a family friend, and this is where I still live now. I have always wanted to know what it felt like to have a happy family. A
family that comes to your games because they

unique best friend I have in my life. Jimmy become my friend in July 2008, when I was in need of somebody for support, guide, I find Jimmy. To

Living is free, we have free air, and we can live our lives however we want because we have everything we need to make it happen. We have hands to
touch, we have eyes to see, we have ears to hear, we have mouth to talk, we have our tongue to taste, we have nose to smell. These five sense is
very important to our lives. However when we have everything, like having money, coming to a family that is rich, have fancy car, and have
fancy clothes, wearing the last collection that just come out last week, because of everything that someone have, people will want to be friends
with anyone that they see they have money. After what happen to me, no one wanted to be my friends, I never hear someone saying that
everything will be okay, or a hug, ever since I was alone for a couple of months. I become isolated, I was always in my room, and I did not want to
see anyone or to bother me, because I did not want pity from anyone, because they make me feel worse. My mom she was being very patient with
me, she was always there to cheer me up, telling me everything will be okay. She feel guilty because she think it's her fault what happen to me.

Essay About Unarmed Bravery In To Kill A Mockingbird By...

  • 1. Essay about Unarmed Bravery in To Kill a Mockingbird by... Many Children receive Bravery Awards every year around the world, and none of them hold any weapons or punch someone in the face to prove that they are brave, unlike what the majority of people picture it. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus believed that true bravery and courage is facing the negativities of life and society persistently, and by sticking to your belief no matter what the cost is. Jem and Mrs. Dubose are two characters that strongly apply to Atticus's meaning of bravery and courage. Mrs. Dubose was a real brave woman in the eyes of Atticus. Atticus tried to teach his children the true meaning of bravery by setting her as an example. Mrs. Dubose struggled so hard to die in the way that she wanted to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jem also represented true bravery in several situations throughout the story. Without Jem realizing it, he applied the true meaning of courage and bravery in his actions. Jem started to believe that in order to do what is right, he has to bear the bad consequences of what he does. '"Dill's eyes flickered at Jem, and Jem looked at the floor. Then he rose and broke the remaining code of our childhood. He went out of the room and down the hall. "Atticus," his voice was distant, 'can you come here a minute, sir?' "' (Harper Lee, 151) Most of the time, Jem was hiding secrets from Atticus ignoring the fact that it could cause harm to him, Dill or Scout. At the first time when he told Atticus about Boo Radley, he hesitated at first because he feared that Atticus would punish him. In this quote, he did not show any signs of hesitation despite knowing that Dill might get mad at him, and that indicates how he is better at bearing the consequences of his actions now. Jem broke the wall of fear and began to stand for his personal terms in difficult situations. "In the midst of this strange assembly, Atticus stood trying to make Jem mind him. "I ain't going" was his steady answer to Atticus's threats, requests, and finally, "Please Jem, take them home."" (Harper Lee, 163) When Jem called Atticus on Dill, Jem did not fully experience the true meaning of real bravery because the situation was a bit calm. It is known for a fact ... • 2. One Flew Over The Cuckoo 's Nest By Ken Kesey In the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo 's Nest by Ken Kesey we are taken into the mind of a mental hospital patient who does not seem to cope well with reality. The whole book itself, revolves around the issue of either being sane or not. We are met with the thought of whether the narrator themselves are sane. But when it comes to our world today, we must ask ourselves how can we define someone as insane or sane? If if we can, who should be in charge of saying that they are? The first character that we are introduced to, is Bromden, or "Chief Bromden," throughout the story we see him telling the story of how he see's the ward and other patients, but even though we never find out the exact reason as to why he is in the mental hospital, we do see his story in small glimpses throughout the book. When we first meet Bromden, we see that he is very shy and timid. People at the ward have even mistaken him as being deaf and mute. While he is not, he chooses to pretend as if he is, because it is much easier to hide and not be seen this way. Because he is deaf and mute, he is mistaken as being mentally ill. While we never find out how he got to the hospital or why, we do know that he has chosen to conform to being in the hospital. But what exactly makes him think that he is insane and that he must be in the hospital? Could it be society, or could it simply be the way he look at the world around him? At this time, it could have most likely been the society in which he lived in. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Role of the Fathers in Chaim Potok’s The Chosen Essay Role of the Fathers in Chaim Potok's The Chosen Chaim Potok's The Chosen is the story of a lasting friendship that blossoms between two Jewish boys, Danny Saunders and Reuven Malter, during and after World War II. On a deeper level, much of the plot focuses on the character of their fathers –Reb Saunders and David Malter–whose beliefs and ideals are rooted in two separate worlds. Reb Saunders is a zealous Hasidic rabbi who wants to impart his knowledge of his religion upon Danny and expects his son to follow in his footsteps. David is a professor and single father who comes from a liberal Jewish background. As the friendship between Reuven and Danny grows, both fathers try to reconcile their views with their sons and with their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For hours, no words are traded, with the exception of a discussion of a Talmudic passage. On the other hand, Reuven and David mutually support the notion that the lines of communication between them should always be open. Whenever Reuven struggles with a problem or simply a question, regardless the significance, he comes directly to his father for assistance. David listens intently and offers a few suggestions or delivers a thorough answer to his son's query. For example, when Reuven wonders about Danny, David answers with a lengthy and detailed account. This demonstrates not only the comfort they bear in talking to each other but also the patience they've developed that has stemmed from their communication. Despite their lack of communication, Reb Saunders and his son share the same admiration, respect, and trust for each other that are consistent with Reuven's and David's relationship. Although Reb Saunders carries the overwhelming responsibility of being tzaddik and David Malter is often absorbed in his journalistic efforts, both fathers demonstrate through their actions the tremendous concern they possess for the well–being and overall happiness of their sons. At first, the caring nature of Reb Saunders is not apparent, especially considering his complete silence with Danny. However, toward the end, he reacts to Danny's decision to become involved in the secular world not with rage but acceptance. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, but this plan needs me and you. We haven 't felt that rush in a long time. We have to bring Mondli closer. Don 't put everything we 've worked for so hard for on the line.
 – Why do other cops take bribes, then? – Like you 've just said, our job is very difficult. That 's why sometimes you have to do certain things... so you can take care of your family.– MaMlambo and Mam 'Madlala fired me. – Are you sure about that? – I was fired because of you. – What? – I think we should take a break. – There 's no need for that. I 'll fix this. But the board and the elders of the church... have a problem with your thing with Jojo. So I wanted to ask that... this gay thing of yours... Please keep it outside the church. – Mother of my child, when are you coming back? – I 'm coming back today. – Should I pick you up from the office? – I 'll be alright. I gave you everything I had, and you threw it on the ground... – and stomped all over it! – I 'm sorry. And then you threw it back in my face. What are you sorry for? Just leave me alone! Hey. – I 'm exhausted, guys. – This is nothing. Here 's your bag. It 's so heavy.– Do you guys remember my cousin, Tiny? – Yes, the big one? She was even bigger when she was pregnant. • 5. How Do People Affect Us And How Much They Impact Us? Throughout your lifetime people will come in and out of your life, what we never consider is how much that person will affect us and how much they impact us. When someone comes into your life and makes you feel special or important, and they start to change, and continue to hurt you, you start to realize that something has to change and it might be time to move on. It had been 8 months, my boyfriend and I had been together off and on. I had invested time, love and energy into this relationship. There have been hard times with him where I just wanted to give up on us but I couldn't. He was constantly going out and I would be forced to stay in the house, this caused me to not trust him because I knew he was going to be out messing around with females. In the back of my head I knew he had been out messing with other females and I always wanted to speak up I just never had any proof. And I could always tell when he was lying, so I always knew when he was out creeping or lying about where he was going. The things he did hurt me, and affected me in a big way, my ex caused me to feel insecure, weak, and vulnerable. Not only did he hurt me physically but he damaged me mentally. I trusted this guy with my heart, mind, and time; he was my best friend, and my lover and he managed to break all of the trust I had for him within seconds. It's stated in Cheat Sheet that "Getting cheated on can leave you with an indescribably bad feeling that never seems to completely go away" (Sheriesa). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Graduation Speech Essay For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit through many more ceremonies –– ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend a Bar Mitzvah. My book was Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights," my page was page 10, chapter two. My quote, and as of now, theme for my speech, is: "My neighbor struck me as bordering on repulsive, I knew, through experience, that I was tolerably attractive." Wow! I think that, that is one great theme. It works. (Pull out pocket mirror) I am tolerably attractive. As for my neighbor. Well, you be the judge. Really, what are the chances of two attractive people sitting next to each other. Not likely. Why not try it yourselves. Visualize yourself, or if you have access to a mirror, look at yourself. • 7. Facts About The United States Facts About the United States I believe most of us have been to a foreign country at least one time in his/her life. Visiting other countries during vacation is a typical way to explore new cultures as well as new places. However, there is no feeling similar to the fact that you are going to live in a foreign country by yourself. A country you know no one living in. What makes this feeling even harder is what you hear about that country. Is what we hear about the US true? Or is someone trying to get advantages from distributing unreal thoughts about the US? I keep asking myself these questions and yet I have no answer. Before I came to the US, I heard hundreds of thousands of stories about the US. Stories that I would not have traveled to the US if I had believed in. And until yet, there still are many people who believe in these stories. One of the most common stories is that American people are hard to deal with. I mean, if they do not like what you say or if you do something they do not like, you would get killed right away. But, after I traveled to the US, I did not see that. Well, some people do carry guns with them at all times, but they never kill anyone. They just use their guns for self–defense. So, if you do not hurt them, they will not hurt you. I believe people from all over the world have the same concept, but I do not know why we ignore this fact and we only focus on American people. Not only was carrying guns the only scary thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I recognize the two of us have sort of have steered away from a few details and feel we need to get back on track. EXCHANGE Initially, when creating the parenting plan, the two of us agreed to meet half–way for exchange since you were living in Spring Hill, and I in Palm Harbor. This is why we chose the church. Since you moved to New Port Richey a few months back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt comfortable meeting there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5 minutes away from the church; making it an exchange location no longer half–way. After this past Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not to happen, I realized how unfair that is to me. For this reason, I would like to change the exchange location to be closer to the middle again. According to Google Maps there is slightly under 30 minutes' drive (with no traffic) between our addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs. This is still further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an excellent location for a comfortable swap. Please let me know if this is not plausible, thus an agreement can be made on this matter. • 14. Journey Towards Faith : The Journey Toward Faith Essay Journey Toward Faith There are many religions in the world that people belong to or believe in. Believing in something higher gives us a strong hold on motivation and faith. Many people are born into a religion, but not everyone continues to believe or follow the religion they grew up in. As we get older we start to understand why we practice our beliefs and not the others. I was born into a Christian family. When I was young I didn 't understand the whole religion processes or why I really prayed. I just knew that I went to church every Sunday and prayed to a man named God. After a few years my family and I stopped going to church as often. We only went once in a while and always went during Christmas, Easter, and New Year. That all changed when I got my car and I became close friends the the pastor 's daughter and nieces. I told me self I would go to church every Sunday and try to learn who God was and get closer to him. In February I went to a church convention called Winterfest in Rochester, New York. The event was nothing I expected. It wasn 't your ordinary church. It was a three day convention for youths with a stage, strobe lights, poets, rappers, singers, and bishops. They preached in the language of the teenagers. It was an experience of a life time. I witnessed teens younger and older than me catch the Holy Spirit. I always thought it was something adults got. Differences Between Worldview And Worldview Essay Differing Worldviews Worldview, how a person views the world, affects all parts of a person's life and attempts to answer the foundational questions of knowledge, G–d, origin, miracles, and thought. Many factors influence a person's worldview some factors include geography, family background, religious background, schooling, and many others. When two people with two different worldviews interact with one another, some interesting points where they agree and disagree with each other can arise even if the conversation is one way. In trying to find a person to interview concerning their worldview, I decided to interview my cousin, Andi, and had the opportunity to talk with her over the phone as she headed to her volleyball tournament. During this conversation, Andi answered a lot of questions I had about her religion, and was also able to get a glimpse into some of what she believed. Throughout our conversations I would ask some foundational questions, and her answers would start a chain of other questions that lead to a very informative and intriguing interview, one that left me thinking about what I believed on the issues I posed to her. The first series of questions I asked Andi, concerned her background both religious and familial. To begin the conversation, I asked her where she had lived during her life, and she replied saying that she had always lived in Alabama, which is part of the Bible belt, and that somehow this "has not affected my beliefs." This could negatively affect other, smaller–scale 'green' projects. These types of projects would be deemed risky investments and scare away potential investors, which would make the investment capital that is crucial to the start up of these projects hard to come by. The gross national product is a flawed way of measuring the success of the economy because it does not consider the harms and benefits of production; it measures growth for growth's sake. • 23. Theme Of Redemption And Good Country People By Flannery O... Flannery O 'Connor 's stories "A Good Man Is Hard to Find", and "Good Country People" both present very similar themes. Within these stories is the theme of redemption, and the way relationships affect the way people interact with each other seem to be a core issue she struggles with. Both stories have a protagonist that have to deal with some type of villain who has little to no belief, while their presence of faith that there is good in people gets them into the horrible situations that they find themselves in. She uses some of the same aspects in both stories in very different ways. The characters are a big part of her stories, the conflicts that arise in the story, and the symbolism that is used. This paper will explore how faith can lead us to have false hope and why it is important to remain aware. In both stories there are seemingly different protagonist. First there is Hulga. She is someone that rude, harsh, with Doctorate in Philosophy, and is appalled by the idea of love. Then you have a grandmother, who is always looking back on the old days and a slight sense of wonder. From what O 'Connor gives the reader in their descriptions, there is not much similarities happening. • 24. How Literacy Is Used As A Communication Method When it comes to understanding literacy I learned that reading, along with writing is used as a communication method. However, there 's so much more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature. Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of your culture, pronunciation, the way you dress, as well as all of your actions. That being said, personally literature means not only knowing how to read and write, but the way we approach it as an individual. For example, we are judged by the way we speak, look, act, where we come from, as well as how we were raised. Which is all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My sister always spoke "proper english" is what I will not call it, but politely and she understood how to express herself and speak her mind in a polite manner. I was taught manners by my parents, greetings were something you could not just pass by. "good morning" was to be said every morning to everyone in the house along with a kiss otherwise it was a form of disrespect. A hug was followed with every goodbye. Even though you could have been upset with a family member you were required to forgive them and let the past stay in the past. Mainly because you never know if you are going to see them tomorrow, living with regret is something no one wants. My father always told me, since I was always a stubborn child, "forgiveness is not for the other person it is for you." At that moment I realized he was right, the only person I was hurting all along was myself. Nevertheless, I have had a time where I had to teach myself something that not only had disadvantages but some advantages as well. Learning how to think before I spoke, Speaking your mind and the truths was always something I believed in. However, I never realized that sometimes you have to think about the consequences about your statement. • 25. The Importance Of Life : How Will You Be Remembered? The Importance of Life How will you be remembered? "Just do me one favor, live your life the way you want and in the best way possible. Do whatever makes you happy and when you think of me, think of all the good times we had. Please don't dwell on this moment. I am so proud of you. I love you," spoke my great Aunt Debbie, a few hours before she passed. I will never forget the way her raspy voice sounded as she layed there in that hospital bed and I layed there in mine. The only thing between us was a phone and a few hundred miles. If you could do anything to have one more conversation with a loved one, would you take your chances? Sometimes too often, we don't say the things we want to say to the ones we love and before we know it, it's too late. If I only had one chance to speak to my Aunt Debbie again, I would take it and I would tell her how important she was to me. The first lesson she ever taught me was to always forgive. I will never be able to thank her enough for showing me that forgiveness is one of the most important things in this life. I would thank her for always being so kind–hearted and so patient. I remember always going to her house after school and she could always tell when I had a bad day. When she asked what happened, I would tell her step by step and when I would finish, she would just sit there and smile at me. After a few seconds, she would ask if I was still upset. • 26. Character Analysis : ' Fan ' One of the moments from the play that I believed communicated the show's meaning powerfully was during scene two, "Fan," from section 1. This was the scene where two characters, a man, and a woman, were arguing about a silly topic about who love a certain famous person more, a male specifically. The funny thing about this specific scene was that both of the characters were willing to do a few unbelievable and somewhat vulgar to prove their love for the famous guy. For example, the male character was willing to "eat dogsh*t," "eat fire," and even "eat cat food," just to see the star in life and get to touch him. The male character even went as far as delusionally describing how their exact birth hour was similar when it was not. In regards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were no blinding lights for this scene except for a white spotlight that shone on them indicating that it was a light–hearted scene full of fluffy infatuation and fun. The music for this scene was not at all ominous unlike how they were for a good majority of the play. The instrumentals for this scene gave off a care–free vibe throughout the scene mostly. The music then changed and gave off a slightly more serious vibe when both of the characters realized that they both forgot what their idol's favorite smell was and panicked when the both of them could not find the information from the magazine. These productions led me to believe that the meaning of the play was about how love itself is also information. The dialogue when they were arguing about who love the idol more and seeing how they were both climbing the monkey bars like wooden booth structure led to the idea that certain information such as what their favorite idol's smell was is unnecessary information when it comes to love. It is understandable that one would want to know as much information as they are allowed to about the person that they love, but something like not knowing a person's favorite smell, should not cause one insomnia because she/he cannot "go to sleep without finding out." Simply because it's not something that should even be relevant when it comes to your love for them. • 29. Speculations About Life And Death Speculations about life and death have always been present in society. Herein, people will often think about the things they would do differently from the usual way of doing things. It is evident where one is asked to think about what he or she would do if they had only a few minutes or days or even years left to live. Many would choose to do things such as having their favorite meals, listening to their dearest music, sitting with their family members and spending time with them, or to pray and ask for forgiveness from their god to the very last moment. However, I would not choose any of these things as I believe that the way I have always lived my life is in accordance with good morals as though everyday will be my last. Instead, I would continue to live the same way I did for the past several years or so. Human beings have a tendency to always fear death whenever it seems to be closely approaching. This is evident where an individual with a chronic disease is given a timeline within which they have left to live; they change their ways so dramatically. It may seem as though a new being has come up ever since the doctors diagnosed the disease. If the individual was not religious, he or she would be seen embracing one of the various religions present in a bid to find favor with the supernatural deities. People believe that this action is an opportunity to turn around their horrid ways with some level of dignity left in them. No matter how horrible this individual may be, ... • 34. Redefine Freedom: The Lie that Benefits us All Redefine Freedom: The Lie that Benefits us All Freedom is defined as "the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint." It is explained to be an all or nothing; there is no black and white with freedom. The Trap stands to say the within the confined of the prevailing systems of democracy and government there is no such thing as freedom but simply the illusion of it. The Trap goes back in time and isolates the moments when the idea of freedom slipped away and became a mirage engrossed in concepts of equality, normality and control. Adam Curtis, the producer of The Trap, reminds us that the government was elected under oath to "liberate the individual [from bureaucracy]." Although what the trap stands to show us, that we live in a society full of lies, is undeniable, one can also argue that the society that we live in fulfills that requirements of freedom we suggest. To be truly free in the western civilization you must be able to reach the goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Trap believes that even though people believed that they were more oppressed back in the days, it shows that it's worse now because back then people knew they didn't have freedom, they knew they were being controlled but now we're being controlled and we don't even know it. "Human beings will always betray you. You can only trust the numbers." It's believed that the only thing that can be trusted is numbers for they had no bias or self–interest. ... • 36. Dark Knight of the Soul by Richard Miller Qsr 2 Essays 09.13.2011 The Dark Knight of the Soul Questions for a second reading 2. Throughout Miller's essay, he follows a similar format in the way he states his opinion about the connection between reading and writing to his readers. With every subheading, he tells a story of the influence of reading and writing on the protagonist of each story. Every subheading begins with the introduction of the protagonists through the final outcome of their actions. For example, the first story of the two boys, Harris and Klebold begins with the revelation of what they have done–murdering fifteen people with weapons they created on their own. This knowledge to create such weapons and to follow through with such an act is all blamed upon technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe what Miller is trying to say is that the readers and the writers are supposed to identify and assess on our own about what should and should not influence us and we should "balance" the information we take in and the ones we leave out. "[T]he connections that count" are the reasonable ideas that we can apply to the real world. If we were to act upon idealism like the protagonists in Miller's stories do, and what Miller suggests becomes a goal for the subject in high schools and colleges, learning would no longer be about sitting and listening to lectures in a classroom, acquiring knowledge from a textbook, or even discussing among the class. Instead, a new way of learning in which the participants in the class would be required to explore the topic or subject at hand. It almost seemed as if Miller suggests that the students experience first–hand on what they've been taught. This might be the only way to make the connections that we need to from reality and idealism and to understand and learn from it like in Miller's stories that he refers to. When considering the literal meaning of " arms out, balancing", a person would sometimes fall and lean towards one side and then to the other until he or she can balance in a stationary stature. When looking at the phrase figuratively and relating it to reality and idealism, one would at first be unstable until you can find the balance between the two. This would ...
