3. INFLUENCE
ď‚šMedia and information influence the way people look at the
world. The word influence means to affect or change how
someone or something develops, behaves, or thinks.
“It influence the readers deeply especially female teenagers due
to the fashion that trends now a days .These magazines have a
big impact on society.
4. Distribution of Information
ď‚š Media can bring the newest information from the whole world. With the
use of different media platforms, it simply means that media has a power
to give information and provide an easy means of communication
especially in long distance were people will able to contact quickly to each
other. (Corpuz 2017)
ď‚š There are seven media platforms being used today are the following,
Social Networking , Microblogging, Blogging, Photo Sharing, Video
sharing, Crowd Sourcing, Tools for Managing Multiple Social Media

informally with others, find people, and share similar interests.
It Allows users to directly connect with one another through
groups, networks, and location

site
 • Allows users to subscribe to other users' content, send direct messages,
and reply publicly

14. Opportunities, Challenges of Media and
Information
a. Opportunities – a set of situations that makes it possible to
do something. These are positive effects brought by media
b. Challenges– Test, problem, trial. These are risks or negative
effects by media.
c. Power - Media has the power to influence the behavior of the
people. The power to manipulate them in order to believe on
the information they insinuate. It also has the power to
disseminate information that the people need.

ď‚š As stated by Media Development investment Fund (2019) media improves the
efficiency of the economy by providing actors more and better information with
which make decisions and improving the stability of economy.
ď‚š A free and independent press can provide information and monitoring to the
economic policy development process leading to more effective economic
policies.
 It can also reduce political risk and increase good governance—conditions that
are important for robust economic development.
ď‚š Economic actors need accurate and timely information to allocate resources
efficiently. Investors and other groups increasing value and demand a
governance-monitoring role from media
16. Social
ď‚šIn order for development to be just and sustainable, citizens
must productively participate in the decisions that shape their
lives. “Participation requires an informed citizenry. A free and
independent media supply timely and relevant information to
citizens allowing them to change their own behavior and to
demand higher social standards for society” (Media

17. Education
ď‚šWe are seeing education institutions adapting these
developments into their systems and relying on group
resources and mechanisms to improve the student life. “The use
of social media in education provides students with the ability
to get more useful information, to connect with learning groups
and other educational systems that make education

18. Politics
ď‚šIn political system, the media perform a number of functions
important to the democratic process. “The media reports the
news, serves as an intermediary between the government and
the people, helps determine which issues should be discussed,
and keeps people actively involved in society and politics.
Voters and politicians alike must pay attention to the media”
(Chaudhary,2017)
20. 1. Illegal Content
 - It’s any type of content that could be damaging to young people. It
includes sexually explicit content, illegal images of child sexual abuse,
content which promote crime and violence. If you encounter or become a
victim of this actions, you can report this incident to PNP Anti Cybercrime
Group. In response to this international priority, the PNP is strengthening
its children protection program by establishing a special taskforce “Angel
Net” purposely to address Internet or technology-related child abuse and
exploitation.
21. 2. Cybercrime
ď‚š -The use of a computer as an instrument to further illegal ends Or a crime
that involves the Internet, a computer system or a computer technology.
“Everything from stolen money, theft of personal and financial data, loss of
productivity and the damage and destruction of critical corporate or
individual data is categorized as cybercrime”. (Johnson, 2019). We can
protect ourselves from being victimized by 1. Use tight security measure
such as using strong and two factor authentication, 2. Update your
operating systems 3. Be cautious when opening emails from financial
institutions 4. Always use secure Wi-Fi to access accounts.
22. 3. Copyright Infringement
ď‚š - is the use or production of copyright-protected material without the permission of the
copyright holder. Copyright infringement means that the rights afforded to the copyright
holder, such as the exclusive use of a work for a set period of time, are being breached by
a third party.
ď‚š There are safety measures to avoid copy infringement as mention by

ď‚š It is the deliberate use of someone else's identity, usually as a method to
gain a financial advantage or obtain credit and other benefits in the other
person's name, and perhaps to the other person's disadvantage or loss.
The PNP-ACG (2016) suggests the following safety measure to avoid
identity theft.
ď‚š a. Do not surf the web while accessing online banking accounts. Ensure
that only your online banking site is open.
ď‚š b. Do not engage in sensitive transactions online.
ď‚š c. Monitor online account activities.

ď‚š - an attempt to trick someone into giving information over the internet or
by email that would allow someone else to take money from them, for

ď‚š Matabuena (2016) has mentioned the different ways how to spot and
 avoid Phishing. “Here are the different ways fraudsters could try to fish
your personal information directly from you.
25. ď‚š a. Check the URL of the website. Make sure that nothing else comes before the hostname other
than https:// and the padlock icon. Double check to see that spellings of the website or company
name are accurate, too.
ď‚š b. Phishing happens through mobile, too. Fraudsters posing as bank officials ask for important
information such as passwords and account numbers through phone calls and texts. For safety and
security purposes, know that banks won’t call or text you and ask for your personal or banking
information such as username, password or one time PINs. No matter how pushy, threatening, or
urgent they sound, refuse and stand your ground.
ď‚š c. In this day and age, phishing happens on social media, too, through private or direct messages.
Much like the emails, texts, and calls, these messages are meant to sound authentic so that you will
be convinced to share your personal details. Don’t be vulnerable. Learn how to spot signs of
phishing across different platforms. Report any suspicious messages you receive so you and your

26. 6. Human trafficking
ď‚š- The trade of humans for the purpose of forced labor, sexual
slavery or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or
others. Human Trafficking is the trade in people especially,
women and children, and does not necessarily involve the
movement of the person from one place to another.
27. ď‚š In a report of CNN-Philippines (Philippines Fight against Trafficking, 2016) mentioned measures
and procedures in order to prevent Human Trafficking in our country. The report recommended the
following:
ď‚š a. The government to scale up its anti-trafficking efforts:
ď‚š b. Increase the availability of shelter and protection resources that address the specific needs of
trafficking victims
ď‚š c. Develop and implement programs aimed at reducing the demand for commercial sex acts
ď‚š d. Increase efforts to identify labor trafficking victims, especially children subjected to forced labor.
This includes training for department of labor and employment inspectors on proactive
identification mechanisms.
ď‚š e. Increase efforts to investigate, prosecute, and convict labor traffickers who exploit victims within
the country
28. ď‚š f. Increase efforts to investigate and prosecute government officials for trafficking and
trafficking-related offenses
ď‚š g. Expand efforts to ensure victim-friendly criminal justice proceedings for victim
witnesses, particularly child victims, to prevent re-traumatization from multiple interviews
and protracted shelter stays throughout the duration of court cases.
ď‚š h. Widely implement the continuous trial mechanism pilot program to increase the speed
of trafficking prosecutions

vigorously investigate any such allegations and hold accountable those who are involved

apprehended from armed groups
