Tubao Credit Cooperative in La Union, Philippines celebrated its 50th anniversary on August 13, 2016. The celebration began with a mass and included recognizing the 39 pioneering members, 11 of whom are still alive. The cooperative's general manager presented the highlights and milestones over the past 50 years. They also distributed gifts from partner organizations and conducted a medical/dental mission. The cooperative donated 50,000 pesos to the Diocese of San Fernando City. The regional director of the Cooperative Development Authority congratulated the cooperative on being the second best performing in the region recently. She updated members on new laws and initiatives regarding cooperatives. The cooperative aims to continue growing beyond its 50th anniversary.

Tubao, La Union. Tubao Credit Cooperative, the newest billionaire cooperative in
Region 1 celebrated their 50th
year anniversary last August 13, 2016 at Jose Tavarez Hall with
the theme “ TCC: Soaring Higher Beyond 50”.
The Celebration started with a mass
officiated by Most Rev. Rodolfo F. Beltran,
D.D. GM Romulus F. Layug presented the
highlights and milestones of TCC existence.
They also recognized and thanked their 39
member–pioneers with certificate and cash
incentive. Only 11 pioneers are alive, seven of
the remaining pioneers are residing abroad. The
oldest member-cooperator alive is a 92 years
old. Moreover, Atty. Conrado L. Baltazar,
advocator of Saranay Program graced the
occasion and was happy to reunite with the
members. The TCC also distributed giveaways
courtesy of Metro Bank and East West Bank;
Simultaneously, a medical and dental mission
was conducted courtesy of Baguio City
Rotarians. For its social project, a P50,000
donation was given to Diocese of San Fernando
City, La Union. The TCC laboratory
cooperative rendered a special number to the
delight of the members.
For the CDA part, RD Josefina B. Bitonio warmly congratulated the cooperative for their
achievement, citing that in the recent CDA Anniversary, TCC was honored as the 2nd
best
performing cooperative in the region. She then updated the members on Pres Duterte’s
Executive Order No. 1 of which the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) was one of the

2. 12 government agencies to be placed under the Office of the President (OP), to assist in the
poverty reduction program of the government. She also updated the members on RA 10816 of
the Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016; RA 10644, the Go Negosyo Act; RA 9510, the
Credit Information System Act and the preparation for the Regional Cooperative Month to be
held on October 7-8, 2016.
The journey continues for TCC as they aim to soar beyond 50.
