When using the game “Scrabble” to assist 6th grade students, the hope is that
students will learn how to use and spell words in the English language in a fun
way that will make them want to learn. Students will get in groups of two so that
they can brainstorm different words together and build off on one another’s
ideas.
● There will be 3 prizes at stake:
○ First prize goes to the winning team
○ Second prize will go to the team with the word that gained the most points
○ Third prize will go to the team who got the longest word.
Having prizes involved will allow for more participation from students and will
allow the students to want to get involved.

3. SMART Exchange
SMART Exchange is a website that exposes teachers to many different ideas and
lesson plans that will give teachers an idea of what to use in class and with their

6. Dictionary
Instead of using the “help center” that the SMART Exchange website provided,
students will be required to use a dictionary because it will allow them to
explore more words and it will also expose them to new vocabulary.
