At the end of this lesson, students would be able
to:
• Plan instructional graphics for display boards’
use.
• Construct appropriate graphics and letters for
display boards.
• Place the materials on the display boards.
• Teach with the display board.
3. Previous Knowledge
Students have been able to:
• Construct Letterings: Grid, Freehand and
Stencil Lettering
• Produce instructional charts
4. Materials Required
• Colouring materials: Water colour or Permanent
Marker or Crayon, etc.
• Writing or drawing materials: Pencil, biro, felt pen,
erase, sharpener etc.
• Cut out pictures from Newspapers or Magazines. It
is preferable that the student draw the content
themselves.
• Cardboard. (3-5 pieces)

• Joining materials ;- e.g. Water gum,
Thumbtacks or pins,
• Cutting Materials e.g. Razor blade,
scissors, Knife edge
• A display board. (This will be made
available by the instructor)
6. Definition of Display Boards
• Multi-purpose boards used to display
information, visual resources, sequence
of learning materials, notices, etc.
• An educational tool seen as a visual
method of teaching and getting learners
motivated.
9. Important Uses of Display Board
Display Boards help students to:
• Visualize Abstract Concepts
• Use colours to bring out features.
• Summarize lessons with images
• Develop observation skills and visual
literacy

• caption or title should be brief, colourful
and straight to the point.
• Decide the images/pictures to put,
• size of the board available,
• background of the board.

teach your students
• Prepare materials for display on a
Bulletin or felt Board for the chosen topic
• Place the materials on the Board to be
made available for you in the class
• Teach the content using the images
placed on the board.
