This document provides instructions for creating a high school survival guide. Students are asked to choose important topics for incoming freshmen and write tips for each. They must include at least 10 tips with illustrations for 5 tips. The guide should have an organized layout and sections. It will be graded based on the number of tips, illustrations, creativity, grammar, spelling, and neatness. Examples of topics include classes, extracurricular activities, bullies, teachers, school lunches, sports teams, and homework.

2.  The goals of this lesson is for you to be able
to create a guide book which can be used to
help others coming into high school
 This assignment will also increase your ability
to organize your ideas and create an
attractive layout for your guide
 This is enhancing your creativity

3.  Start by choosing the topics that you feel are
important for a student new to high school
 Then create tips which you feel will be most
helpful for the students
 Number them in the guide book you can have
several tips for a certain topic
 Separate your guide book into different sections
and have various tips for each: classes, extra
curricular, bullies, teachers, etc.
 Add little doodles and illustrations for your tips
to help the students understand the tip
 You can even illustrate your tips in the form of a
comic strip

4.  School lunches
 Cliques
 English class
 Gym class
 Friends
 Sports teams
 Detention
 How to deal with bullies
 Homework
 Etc.

8.  You are going to be creating a high school
survival guide which would be useful to a
freshman going into RDPC next year.
 Your guide must include at least 10 tips you
can add more if you like
 You must have illustrations for at least 5 of
your tips
 You must have a creative presentation of your
guide book

9.  You will be marked on:
◦ having at least 10 tips for surviving high school
◦ 5 of the 10 tips must have illustrations
◦ The creativeness of you layout for you survival
guide
◦ Grammar and spelling
◦ You will be marked on your neatness of the final
copy
