We have committed ourselves to Cuba. We have businesses, money, and our people devoted to that country and America has an obligation to fight for
them. In the same way, we made the decision to fight against Britain, they made the decision to fight against Spain.
So far, this has been a docile conflict, however, everything escalated on the sombre day of February 15th, 1898. The USS Maine, a symbol of
American power and devotion, was sunk. Along with it, 268 of our own men lost their lives. This was not just any ship, it was ours, our resources,
our dignity, and most importantly, our people. Children lost their fathers, wife's lost their husbands, fathers lost their sons. I was in shock, and my
heart goes out to the family members of the crew. The men on that ship were committed to freedom and they died by it. The devastation on that day
makes this no longer a battle of obligation, it's a battle vengeance of our fallen heroes. To not respond would be unfair to the American people.

that the Europeans will maneuver and essentially take a land inhabited by Native Americans by a series of actions that took place in the late

My hypothesis is that the influence of people born in the United States will agree that people should be more like "Americans". I am curious about
what makes people born in the US believe that other people should be more "American", how do people view the United States from an outside
perspective (living outside of US) versus a inside perspective (living in the US). Past research (Table 3.0: 2004) has shown that in the past people
born in the US agreed more that other people should be more like "Americans", in more recent studies (Table 3.1: 2014) this has declined

Throughout history, black people have been oppressed. As far back to the Middle Passage and American Revolution. In this essay, I am going to
investigate the ways black people resisted their ill–treatment. I will do this by investigating different time periods between the Middle Passage and the
American Revolution so that we may find trends. From my investigations, we see in what ways and for what reasons their resistance varied by their
time and location in history. Additionally, we will be able to see how their resistance calmed as they became more familiar to the land, and as they
began to see America as home.
In the Middle Passage, Africans were captured and sold by other Africans of their native land. They were then packed on a ship as if they were cargo.
The conditions on that ship were unsanitary and of poor life quality, that many were struck with various illnesses. When many of the slaves aboard felt
their growing despair, they attempted to resist their oppression by ending their lives so that they may mess with the slave business. This is evident in
The Making of African American, pg. 63, where we read that: "Some slaves...were determined to destroy themselves. They waiting the right moment
and threw themselves into the sea and the waiting sharks. When the crew––determined to protect its valued cargo––blocked the way with nets and
other barriers, slaves starved themselves."

The Niagara Movement was an important movement in the early 1900's. July of 1905, W.E.B. Du Bois, hosted the first Niagara Movement meeting in
Ontario, Canada (Carson, Lapsansky–Werner, Nash, 2005).W. E. B. Du Bois wanted to host the meeting in Buffalo New York but the hotel did not

During history, white settlers and the U.S. government did not always have the best of relationships. Many wars were fought, and many lives were lost
from both sites. The U.S. government and white settlers has had negative attitudes toward the Native Americans. Native Americans were not seen as
equal to white people, so white settlers and U.S. government did not treat them fairly. TheUnited States government also tried assimilation as a solution
