Essay On I Would Like To Visit
I would like to go to Italy. Italy is located in southern Europe. Its capital is called Rome and it is one
of the oldest cities in the world. Italy is a beautiful country famous for its architecture and art. Many
artists lived and created there, for example Leonardo di Vinci and Michelangelo. It has a lot of
museums and art galleries. Italy is also famous for its delicious cuisine. Pizza and pasta are famous
all over the world. Italy has large vineyards and produces good quality wines. I also want to go there
because its weather is warm and the nature is really beautiful: mountains, plains, islands and azure
sea. My friends went there last summer for holidays and enjoyed it a lot.

4. One of the world famous parks are the Central Park in New York in United States.
5. Which is your favorite time of the day and why?
Which part of the day is your favorite one?
Why do you like this part of the day more than the others?
What are you usually doing then?
My favorite part of the day is late evening between 11pm and 1 am. It is time when everyone else at
my place is sleeping so the house is really quiet. Streets around are empty and one can hear the
sounds of nature. The weather after hot afternoon becomes nice and cool. I usually sit in my room
with my windows open and read a book or listen to the music. Sometimes I work with my laptop
when there is something important to do or I chat with my friends. I can also sit in the garden when
it is not raining. I go to sleep late, because I don't feel sleepy before midnight. And in the morning I
wake up late.

alcohol are problematic and preventing him from having a proper relationship with his son. At the

What Does The Flowers Symbolize In The Chrysanthemums
Flowers are typically given to someone as an expression of love or friendship. However, depending
on a person culture, it can also mean mourning and or death. Example, carnations and lilies
represent mourning, but yellow Roses represents friendship; Red roses are seen as romantic. Often
times flowers have shown symbolism in different literary pieces. In John Steinbeck's "The
Chrysanthemums", the protagonist, Elisa's loneliness and confinement are represented by the fenced
in garden and growth of her chrysanthemums.
To begin "The Chrysanthemums", is about a woman named Elisa who lives on a farm with her
husband. Throughout the entire story, it is evident that she feels lonely and trapped. This is
expressed through the symbolism of chrysanthemums.

St Rose Of Lima Research Paper
Saint Rose of Lima is the patron saint of beauty due to her remarkable appearance.Rose is an
innovation to many, because unlike many people today, she loathed her beauty due to being too
alluring. I chose Saint Rose because she didn't like people being tempted by her or staring at her.
Rose only wanted to satisfy her parents and God. I also chose this saint because throughout her early
life, she did things people normally would not contemplate or endeavour. Her feast day is on August
23th on the modern calendar, and in some countries it is on August 30th.

College Athletes Should Not Be Banned
Every year NCAA brings in approximately $6 billion from highly anticipated sports events, such as
this month's NCAA tournament "March Madness", for example.1 While brackets will be broken,
nets will be slashed, and the championship team will be crowned, ultimately the real winner from
college events like these is the NCAA itself. While the relentless student–athletes train rigorously
day and night to represent their schools, the athletes who participate do not see a single penny, even
though they are the ones who "...risk career–ending injuries every time they onto the court, field, or
rink." The NCAA forces all 'amateur' college athletes to sign a contract, forbidding monetary
compensation for their efforts and restricting them from any sponsorship deals with payouts. This
has posed a dilemma since the early 1900s, because some of the best collegiate athletes have been
dirt poor, while the NCAA program has continued to make millions off of the names of athletes who
cannot afford to feed their own families. As a solution, all NCAA athletes deserve to be paid. In the
event that there were only one reason that college athletes ought to be paid, it is that both the NCAA
and the college itself utilizes players' name and status for its own financial benefit. Whether it is
selling players jerseys or signing autographs, the NCAA is successfully profiting off of the player
whose number is on the shirt, without giving any cut to the player himself. An eleven billion dollar

Use Of Birds In Poetry
The use of nature in poetry and stories has a long history in Ireland going back to the early use of
bird song to describe divine messages. (Melia, 1999). The natural world gives writers the ability to
communicate expression through the use as symbols and Celtic traditions describe how animals and
birds were important parts of society. The use of natural world subjects give a poet such as Oscar
Wilde the inspiration for some of his best works in poetry and short story. Oscar Wilde's use of birds
and how they are used throughout his writings show great examples of the use of the natural world.
The connection to nature in Irish literature can be shown by examining some of Oscar Wilde's most
important works such as The Nightingale and the Rose and The Happy Prince as well as poems such
as Magdalen Walks. Oscar Wilde was an Irish poet who was born in Dublin Ireland and lived from
1854–1900. throughout his life Oscar Wilde wrote many poems and short stories. Some of his most
endearing short stories were fairytales for young children and were told using birds, animals and
nature. Oscar Wilde's descriptive writing style was very beautiful and in the Nightingale and the

Tone Of One Perfect Rose
At first glance the poem One Perfect Rose may seem like a poem about love and romance, but
further analysis shows the opposite. The first two stanzas of the poem can be misleading, as they
lead one to believe that it's a romantic moment to a past memory. However, with the poems sudden
change in tone, the third stanza takes on more of a cynical view. You hear the dissatisfaction in the
speaker's tone, as she wants more. The title conveys irony, as it shows that the rose is anything but
perfect. In a way the poem seems to describe Parkers feelings about life, even though she had a lot
going for her she just wasn't satisfied. Because of the shift in tone, the poems entire meaning goes
from sweet to a bitter recount. The first opening line of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She wants more than a rose, when she states. "Why is it no one ever sent me yet one perfect
limousine do you suppose?" The word "limousine" implies that she maybe materialistic. Upon this,
as the reader, one has to understand the context in which the poem was written in. It was written in
1937 when the Great Depression occurred. Because Parker faced many financial uncertainties, all
she really wanted was to be sure she was financially stable. The phrase "one perfect rose" is
repeated throughout stanza 1 and stanza 2, thus making it a refrain. On the other hand, the mocking
repetition of "one perfect" indicates the underlining attitude of the speaker in the last stanza.
Suddenly the phrase "one perfect rose" becomes disrupted when the speaker desires "one perfect
limousine." Moreover, the tone suddenly changes when she states, "do you suppose?". The question
is implied to the reader as the poem takes on more of a conversational tone. The poem suddenly
takes on more of a sarcastic tone, as a lot of Dorothy Parkers poem are really known for. They are
known for their witty remarks and irony. Line 11 and 12 states, "Ah no, it's always just my luck to
get one perfect rose." The fact that she states "ah no" signifies disappointment, but it also becomes
more conversational instead of formal. In line 11 the word, "just my luck" actually means that

Analysis Of The Book ' The Palace '
For several weeks, Proserpina had stayed with King Pluto in his palace. She spent most of her days
ogling his tremendous rose gardens. She loved picking the roses and finding the small white pearl
that lay within the rare ones. Red roses were her favourite, their lush, bright petals never drooping or
falling, and in some circumstances, they smelled sweeter than any of the other roses. Proserpina's
favourite rose of all, however, was one made entirely of rubies and emeralds. The red rubies made
up the petals and the emeralds became the stem and a leaf. It was kept inside of a large glass case,
where only its beauty was allowed. Every morning after Pluto brought Proserpina to his castle, he
would hear her wake up in the early hours of the day, right when the sun began to rise, and watch
her pick flowers through his large window overlooking his land. He was lucky that she did not know
who he was, the God of the Underworld, she only thought he was the king of diamonds and stones.
Pluto had a plan, once he got her to eat something, she would be trapped in his kingdom forever, his
underworld. For now, however, he had to just watch as she deteriorated from hunger. It wasn't that
bad to be brutally honest, he's seen much worse. Since staying there, Proserpina had vowed not to
eat anything that she found, or anything that was given to her. She was afraid that if she ate
anything, it would deprive her of all of her bad memories and make her forget all of her cares.

What Makes This Catch The Eye?
This garment, inspired by nature, instantly grabs someone's attention. Instantly, someone can tell it
has many natural elements: the floral chest and leaf pattern. The garment is filled with various
textures and color that give it its calming, natural feel. The texture has natural elements of leafs and
flowers that are emphasized by the bold lines surrounding the element. It even has colors that
resemble wood with a pop of color from the flowers. With more thought, it seems as if it resembles
woodlands with a patch of colorful flowers. It seems as if it carries out it its purpose. It has a
woodland theme, looks unique, and has interesting textures. However, questions start to emerge.
What makes this catch the eye? Why is it interesting? How does it work so well? To determine this,
the garment must be broken down in the individual elements of design (texture, color, balance,
unity, shape, form, line, variety, form, proportion and scale, symmetry, and space) and evaluated.
The outfit itself primary in flat with only one primary area with actual texture: the upper torso. The

Preferably the climbing rose is still dormant or just starting to break dormancy. However, old garden
roses, once blooming climbers or ramblers should be pruned just AFTER they finish blooming in
late spring or early summer.
How: Pruning Lg flowering climbing roses is a bit different than pruning other types of rosebushes.
To understand how to prune a climbing rose, you must understand the difference between the main
cane and lateral canes. Main canes are the structural portion of the plant, starting at the bottom and
going all the way to the top. Lateral canes are shorter, thinner branches that come off the main cane
and produce blooms at the tips.
It is best not to prune climbers for the first two or three years after planting, thus allowing the long
arching main canes to grow and mature. It is okay to remove dead, diseased or injured wood
anytime. Once established, climbers should be pruned annually. Some of the main canes can be cut
off at the base to thin the rose, but the remaining main canes should never be cut back more than ¼
length if at all. Lateral canes, however, can be pruned severely, 4 to 12– inches. Lateral canes can be
removed or pruned throughout the growing season and is easily done during deadheading.
Deadheading is the process of removing old or dying blooms, which in turn, encourages more
blooming. Once you

Analysis Of The Little Prince
The novel The Little Prince was originally published in 1943. Antoine De Saint was a pioneering
aviator, a prominent aristocrat, poet and writer, and thus the novel; The Little Prince was inspired by
his real–life experiences (Sís). He only added a few fictionalized imageries to enhance the merit and
understandability of the book to his audience (Cengage Learning Gale). The book has demonstrated
massive success as it has sold over 140 million copies worldwide translated into more than 300
languages and dialects, and thus becoming the best–selling book ever published (Howard and
Mortensen). More significantly, this novel is one of the most key books because of its thoughtful
and introspective nature, and hence bringing hope to human beings. The little prince is one of the
children's must–read handbooks with philosophy for grown–ups. This is as a result of the book's
significant poetic and optimistic reflections primarily on the existence of human beings (Cengage
Learning Gale). The novel demonstrates the author's practical artistic skills through his lyrical,
charming and well–illustrations made throughout the book, sweeping the audience into a whirl hood
of childhood fancy (Saint–Exupéry). The Little Prince is a simple book with a combination of satire,
philosophy, science, imagination and childish vivacity that can command the attention of grown–ups
and children's hearts and minds.
Through his book, Antoine De Saint–Exupery communicates important values that "grown–ups"
overlooks more often in everyday life. The Little Prince is written as a children's novel. However, it
be can analyze at various diverse levels. Therefore, it's important to note that a "child" or an "adult"
is not defined by the age, but rather by the state of mind (Weber and Probert). Although The Little
Prince is designed as a childhood novel, it makes several explanations and clarifications regarding
human life and nature, and hence it's optimistic. For instance, The Little Prince is depicted as one of
the two protagonists of the story. Hence, after leaving his home planet and his rose which he adored

Derbyshire's Demographic Study
Derbyshire is a region in the East Midlands of England. A significant part of the Peak District
National Park exists in Derbyshire, comprising the southern furthest point of the Pennine scope of
hills which reach out into the north of the region.
The changed scenes inside Derbyshire's have been framed for the most part as an outcome of the
basic topography; by the way the land has been overseen and formed by human undertakings.
From a geological point of view, Derbyshire's strong topography is divided into two altogether
different parts. The most established rocks are found in the northern, more upland portion of the
region, and are for the most part, of Carboniferous age, including gritstones, limestones, shales, and
sandstones. On the other hand, the southern and more marsh half of Derbyshire contains
significantly milder rocks, chiefly mudstones and sandstones from the Permo–Triassic age, which
make gentler, all the more moving scenes with limited rock projections. ... Show more content on

Laura Koller's Spring Wedding
Spring Wedding
In my senior project, Laura Koller's wedding meant so much for me to be able to be a part of putting
my creativity into her wedding. I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most amazing
flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants them to
be. When Laura's wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the next step in
someone's lifetime. In this project, I'll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers that were used,
the creation and the packing up.
The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way of
love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks. The
flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature. The
bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres.
Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a symbol of
saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs lost their
place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have intertwine herbs
with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and during the Middle
Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The only main thing about a
wedding was for both partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse.

Art Analysis Of Thomas P. Anshutz's A Rose
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a canvas
and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during 1907. I
researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my search by
selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North America. The
painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection and is on display in the American
Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman from 1880 to 1910.
I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark background
caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be interesting.
The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark but
three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an orange
carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens and blues.
The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears to be a
cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with detailed
designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose can be
seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering in its
petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on

Theme Of Flowers In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
One of the most universal symbols of beauty is the flower. Their delicate buds hold such great
beauty, while being so fragile and temporary. Despite their magnificence, flowers must remain
stationary. It is a prison, yet no one thinks beyond the simplicity of a pretty flower. Like women,
flowers are seen at face value without any concern for the lack of freedom, opportunity, and
expression they have. Women are meant to be seen just how society expects and not any other way.
In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, female characters face the serious consequences of societal
expectations and views on sexuality. Gabriel Garcia Marquez uses the motif of flowers to symbolize
women and their virginity to demonstrate the confinement of women in society.
The author Marquez uses character names to illustrate the societal preference of virginity. For
example, the character Flora Miguel, who "enjoyed a certain floral quality," is named after flowers
(66). By using curious diction with the word "certain," Marquez points to an almost undefinable yet
intriguing feature. Since the narrator is a man, it demonstrates male interest in women's sexuality.
Because the author says it is due to "floral quality," the interest comes from virginity specifically.
Further proving the value of virginity, Divina Flor exemplifies this ideal. Divina Flor is not simply
named after flowers, but rather her name has a more specific meaning. When translated to English,
her name means divine flower. Marquez names her

Similes In George Elliott Clarke's The Wisdom Of Shelley
"The Wisdom Of Shelley" by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker
meaning. There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones
I will mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This
includes imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is
mentioned a few times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for "The Wisdom Of Shelley is
deception. Each of these points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There
are many poetic devices used throughout "The Wisdom Of Shelley". Repetition of words was the
first thing that really jumped out at me. Clarke repeats the words "words words words" (4), and
"loved loved loved" (15). What I believe this represents is how the character "X" only says empty
words to what I presume is his family. If you need to repeat the word "loved" three times, then it
starts to feel like you are only saying the words to make the other person happy.
The first few lines of the poem say "You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin' with roses"
(1–3) and this can be taken as "X" has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He
suddenly shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed
child does not want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and
tone for what is going to happen in the poem. Since it is

I was cold damp and the air smelt of old wood and smelly feet. My mother was holding me but the
place I was in was a place I didn't like and the atmosphere seemed sad and gloomy. You could hear
footsteps going up and down the hallways but you could barely see anything in the dimly lit room.
There was iron bars and a small window where the slightest of light was able to seep through. The
little window was the only comfort as the sun's light came through in the mid afternoon providing
warmth and a sense of comfort. It lit the room just enough to allow you to see many boring features

The M/O/M Guide to Spring Nail Care
Transitioning into spring means it's time for nails to come out from the gloves and boots they've

on nail care isn't always in the books – we're here to help!
A great way to make the most of your money is to have 1 visit to the nail salon and then make it last.
The real gem of going to a salon is the shaping they do on your nails. After the polish has worn off
(after about 5 days), remove it and repaint on your own. Your nails will be longer and still
professionally shaped, which looks great for bolder colours.

I Am A Youth Counselor
Friday September 18th, 1992 (11.39 a.m.) It was by pure coincidence and good fortune that Judy's
birthday was the day after Harry's, giving Tom the perfect excuse (or so he told himself) to visit her
after three and a half years of separation. He carried a single red rose in his hand, a simple gift that
was all he could afford without asking Booker for money, and he loathed asking Booker for money.
It had taken a long time, but he was slowing finding his independence, and he refused to take
advantage of the man he loved. He knew it would take many more months of therapy before he had
the confidence to re–enter the workforce, but he planned to pull his weight financially as soon as he
could. While it was still a long way in the future, he hoped that one day, he could become a youth
counselor. It was his dream to help those who were addicted to drugs find a new path in life, and he
hoped his stint in prison would not hinder his ambition. He honestly believed he had a role to play in
helping those who had lost their way. It was his destiny and if he could prevent one other person
from ruining their life the way he had ruined his, then the last three years would have been worth all
the pain. Although his transformation had been painfully slow, he finally felt as though he had a

Analysis Of The Book ' The Wolf '
Spring had finally sprung and Sophie just couldn't waste such a beautiful day. "I think I'm going to

heard crying. "Hello? Is someone there?" she asked. "Yes! I'm over here! I'm stuck in the rose bush"
a voice answered. She ran over and found a wolf stuck in the thorny branches. "Don't move around
or you'll keep scratching yourself!" she warned. "Okay, just please get me out!" the wolf replied.
Very carefully, Sophie moved the branches and the wolf was able to crawl out. "Thank you, thank
you! I had been trapped in there all morning" the wolf said. "You're welcome. What's your name?"
Sophie asked.
"Clark."
"Hi Clark, I'm Sophie. You have some pretty bad scratches on your arm. Come with me back to my

"Okay, thank you! Any chance you'd have something to eat? I'm kind of hungry."

Argument for Paying College Athletes
Argument for Paying College Athletes Stephen Elting Mercy College
Have you ever heard of a business that made billions of dollars, yet did not pay their employees?
Seems pretty remarkable doesn't it? Well this business is known as the NCAA. According to an
article in the New York Times, the NCAA made $770 million from just the three–week Men's
Basketball Tournament, but how much did the athletes who participated in said tournament receive?
If you said zero then you would be correct. The athletes that poured their blood, sweat and tears into

' But there 's nothing wrong with it. And you 're not going to convince me that there is something
wrong with it (SI, 2013)." This is the feeling of many college athletes that were in the same boat or
that are currently in the boat. They may not know where their next meal is coming from or how they
are going to afford a car payment. Many will take money and not even question it. They know what
they are doing is wrong and they are putting themselves and the school in jeopardy. At the time the
reward is worth the risk they are taking. There are many other cases happening across the country
that no one knows about. It is interesting how Foster came out and said how he felt that it was not a
big deal and that he did not think he was doing anything wrong. He would fall into a large percent of
college athletes that feel it is unfair for them to not see anything from all the revenue they bring in.
Many will argue that college athletes do not need to be compensated because they are student–
athletes; and the key word for them is student. One argument against paying college athletes is that
they are basically receiving a free education from a top school. A four–year scholarship will cover
everything a student–athlete needs. This includes: tuition, room and board, books, medical coverage
and meals. For example, Duke University costs $57,180 to attend (Bleacher Report, 2013). Those on

Essay on Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter
In Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, the theme of sin viewed through the prism of many colors is the
essence of the novel. The protagonist, Hester, her child, Pearl, and the Reverend Dimmesdale all live
in a Puritanical society in Boston, and are subject to the Puritans' strict religious beliefs and rigid
attitudes. Exposed to sin and the temptation of its concealment in varying degrees, these characters
evolve through the novel in different ways. Hawthorne brilliantly displays these differences by
juxtaposing extreme and vivid colors—concealment is shown in dark, drab, and gloomy shades,
while openness has a bright and colorful sheen. In this way, Hawthorne establishes a dichotomy
between lack of color and color in order to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne creates a bleak setting with "A throng of bearded men, in sad–colored garments and
gray, steeplecrowned hats" and a dark prison with a "beetle–browed and gloomy front" which was
further shadowed by "weather stains and other indications of age, which gave a yet darker aspect" to
the prison. From the darkness of this setting, a vividly contrasting images emerges of "a wild rose
bush" that thrives with "delicate gems" and "fragile beauty". Hawthorne sets this colorful bush near
"burdock, pig–weed, apple–peru, and such unsightly vegetation" which he describes as the "black
flowers". In this way, Hawthorne establishes the dichotomy between color and lack of color at the
outset of the book, and relates it to the personalities of the main characters.
The astonishing survival of a sole colorful rose bush amidst the dark weeds symbolizes the potential
for Hester and Pearl to survive the cruel puritanical punishments of the dark Puritans. Just as the
rose bush radiates colorfully from its surroundings, Hester gleams in contrast to the large shadow of
the Puritans that falls over the scaffold area. The Puritans are dressed in dark suits, "some wearing
hoods" and others "bareheaded", and the hag–like women are gray and grungy with a "coarse fibre"
and unembroidered attire. Hester

Theme Of Symbols In Sons And Lovers
In Sons and lovers, D.H Lawrence has made a very clever use of symbols. The novel abounds in
symbolic objects and events. Yet they are so well integrated with the narrative that they hardly ever
appear obtrusive. When understood, these symbols adds to the richness of the novel and enhances
our appreciation of the novel. Mark Spikla says "The symbolic scenes are extremely literal and the
symbols seem to function as integral strands in the webs of emotional tensions." In Sons and Lovers,
we have a host of such symbolic scenes which have a catalytic effect upon the intensity of the plot
and action in the novel. The description of coal pits is symbolic. The coal pits standing at the
horizon are a concrete reality. The entire life of the community depends on them. Their symbolic
significance become clearer as the novel progresses that these coal pits are a particular way of and a
particular attitude towards life. They are closely associated with Walter Morel who stands for an
irrational life principle. Paul associated them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

College Athletes Should Not Be Banned Every year NCAA brings in approximately $6 billion from highly anticipated sports events, such as this month's NCAA tournament "March Madness", for example.1 While brackets will be broken, nets will be slashed, and the championship team will be crowned, ultimately the real winner from college events like these is the NCAA itself. While the relentless student–athletes train rigorously day and night to represent their schools, the athletes who participate do not see a single penny, even though they are the ones who "...risk career–ending injuries every time they onto the court, field, or rink." The NCAA forces all 'amateur' college athletes to sign a contract, forbidding monetary compensation for their efforts and restricting them from any sponsorship deals with payouts. This has posed a dilemma since the early 1900s, because some of the best collegiate athletes have been dirt poor, while the NCAA program has continued to make millions off of the names of athletes who cannot afford to feed their own families. As a solution, all NCAA athletes deserve to be paid. In the event that there were only one reason that college athletes ought to be paid, it is that both the NCAA and the college itself utilizes players' name and status for its own financial benefit. Whether it is selling players jerseys or signing autographs, the NCAA is successfully profiting off of the player whose number is on the shirt, without giving any cut to the player himself. • 29. Tone Of One Perfect Rose At first glance the poem One Perfect Rose may seem like a poem about love and romance, but further analysis shows the opposite. The first two stanzas of the poem can be misleading, as they lead one to believe that it's a romantic moment to a past memory. However, with the poems sudden change in tone, the third stanza takes on more of a cynical view. You hear the dissatisfaction in the speaker's tone, as she wants more. The title conveys irony, as it shows that the rose is anything but perfect. In a way the poem seems to describe Parkers feelings about life, even though she had a lot going for her she just wasn't satisfied. Because of the shift in tone, the poems entire meaning goes from sweet to a bitter recount. The first opening line of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She wants more than a rose, when she states. "Why is it no one ever sent me yet one perfect limousine do you suppose?" The word "limousine" implies that she maybe materialistic. Upon this, as the reader, one has to understand the context in which the poem was written in. It was written in 1937 when the Great Depression occurred. Because Parker faced many financial uncertainties, all she really wanted was to be sure she was financially stable. The phrase "one perfect rose" is repeated throughout stanza 1 and stanza 2, thus making it a refrain. On the other hand, the mocking repetition of "one perfect" indicates the underlining attitude of the speaker in the last stanza. Suddenly the phrase "one perfect rose" becomes disrupted when the speaker desires "one perfect limousine." Moreover, the tone suddenly changes when she states, "do you suppose?". The question is implied to the reader as the poem takes on more of a conversational tone. The poem suddenly takes on more of a sarcastic tone, as a lot of Dorothy Parkers poem are really known for. They are known for their witty remarks and irony. Line 11 and 12 states, "Ah no, it's always just my luck to get one perfect rose." • 31. Analysis Of The Book ' The Palace ' For several weeks, Proserpina had stayed with King Pluto in his palace. She spent most of her days ogling his tremendous rose gardens. She loved picking the roses and finding the small white pearl that lay within the rare ones. Red roses were her favourite, their lush, bright petals never drooping or falling, and in some circumstances, they smelled sweeter than any of the other roses. Proserpina's favourite rose of all, however, was one made entirely of rubies and emeralds. The red rubies made up the petals and the emeralds became the stem and a leaf. It was kept inside of a large glass case, where only its beauty was allowed. Every morning after Pluto brought Proserpina to his castle, he would hear her wake up in the early hours of the day, right when the sun began to rise, and watch her pick flowers through his large window overlooking his land. He was lucky that she did not know who he was, the God of the Underworld, she only thought he was the king of diamonds and stones. Pluto had a plan, once he got her to eat something, she would be trapped in his kingdom forever, his underworld. For now, however, he had to just watch as she deteriorated from hunger. It wasn't that bad to be brutally honest, he's seen much worse. Since staying there, Proserpina had vowed not to eat anything that she found, or anything that was given to her. Instantly, someone can tell it has many natural elements: the floral chest and leaf pattern. The garment is filled with various textures and color that give it its calming, natural feel. The texture has natural elements of leafs and flowers that are emphasized by the bold lines surrounding the element. It even has colors that resemble wood with a pop of color from the flowers. With more thought, it seems as if it resembles woodlands with a patch of colorful flowers. It seems as if it carries out it its purpose. It has a woodland theme, looks unique, and has interesting textures. However, questions start to emerge. What makes this catch the eye? Why is it interesting? How does it work so well? To determine this, the garment must be broken down in the individual elements of design (texture, color, balance, unity, shape, form, line, variety, form, proportion and scale, symmetry, and space) and evaluated. The outfit itself primary in flat with only one primary area with actual texture: the upper torso. The dress has long sleeves with an enlarged opening for the hands, giving it a classical sense. It is short, only going a few inches above the knee for a freer and flowing look. This helps to create bisymmetric balance, unify for the garment's form with the patterns, and texture on it. However, old garden roses, once blooming climbers or ramblers should be pruned just AFTER they finish blooming in late spring or early summer. How: Pruning Lg flowering climbing roses is a bit different than pruning other types of rosebushes. To understand how to prune a climbing rose, you must understand the difference between the main cane and lateral canes. Main canes are the structural portion of the plant, starting at the bottom and going all the way to the top. Lateral canes are shorter, thinner branches that come off the main cane and produce blooms at the tips. It is best not to prune climbers for the first two or three years after planting, thus allowing the long arching main canes to grow and mature. It is okay to remove dead, diseased or injured wood anytime. Once established, climbers should be pruned annually. Some of the main canes can be cut off at the base to thin the rose, but the remaining main canes should never be cut back more than ¼ length if at all. Lateral canes, however, can be pruned severely, 4 to 12– inches. Lateral canes can be removed or pruned throughout the growing season and is easily done during deadheading. Antoine De Saint was a pioneering aviator, a prominent aristocrat, poet and writer, and thus the novel; The Little Prince was inspired by his real–life experiences (Sís). He only added a few fictionalized imageries to enhance the merit and understandability of the book to his audience (Cengage Learning Gale). The book has demonstrated massive success as it has sold over 140 million copies worldwide translated into more than 300 languages and dialects, and thus becoming the best–selling book ever published (Howard and Mortensen). More significantly, this novel is one of the most key books because of its thoughtful and introspective nature, and hence bringing hope to human beings. The little prince is one of the children's must–read handbooks with philosophy for grown–ups. This is as a result of the book's significant poetic and optimistic reflections primarily on the existence of human beings (Cengage Learning Gale). The novel demonstrates the author's practical artistic skills through his lyrical, charming and well–illustrations made throughout the book, sweeping the audience into a whirl hood of childhood fancy (Saint–Exupéry). The Little Prince is a simple book with a combination of satire, philosophy, science, imagination and childish vivacity that can command the attention of grown–ups and children's hearts and minds. Through his book, Antoine De Saint–Exupery communicates important values that "grown–ups" overlooks more often in everyday life. The Little Prince is written as a children's novel. However, it be can analyze at various diverse levels. Therefore, it's important to note that a "child" or an "adult" is not defined by the age, but rather by the state of mind (Weber and Probert). Although The Little Prince is designed as a childhood novel, it makes several explanations and clarifications regarding human life and nature, and hence it's optimistic. For instance, The Little Prince is depicted as one of the two protagonists of the story. Hence, after leaving his home planet and his rose which he adored so much, he traveled around the world, ending up on Earth. He was puzzled by the behavior of grown–ups (Howard and Mortensen). I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants them to be. When Laura's wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the next step in someone's lifetime. In this project, I'll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers that were used, the creation and the packing up. The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks. The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature. The bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a symbol of saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during 1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection and is on display in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman from 1880 to 1910. I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark background caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be interesting. The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an orange carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens and blues. The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears to be a cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with detailed designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Theme Of Flowers In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold One of the most universal symbols of beauty is the flower. Their delicate buds hold such great beauty, while being so fragile and temporary. Despite their magnificence, flowers must remain stationary. It is a prison, yet no one thinks beyond the simplicity of a pretty flower. Like women, flowers are seen at face value without any concern for the lack of freedom, opportunity, and expression they have. Women are meant to be seen just how society expects and not any other way. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, female characters face the serious consequences of societal expectations and views on sexuality. Gabriel Garcia Marquez uses the motif of flowers to symbolize women and their virginity to demonstrate the confinement of women in society. The author Marquez uses character names to illustrate the societal preference of virginity. For example, the character Flora Miguel, who "enjoyed a certain floral quality," is named after flowers (66). By using curious diction with the word "certain," Marquez points to an almost undefinable yet intriguing feature. Since the narrator is a man, it demonstrates male interest in women's sexuality. Because the author says it is due to "floral quality," the interest comes from virginity specifically. Further proving the value of virginity, Divina Flor exemplifies this ideal. Divina Flor is not simply named after flowers, but rather her name has a more specific meaning. When translated to English, her name means divine flower. Marquez names her ... • 51. Similes In George Elliott Clarke's The Wisdom Of Shelley "The Wisdom Of Shelley" by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker meaning. There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones I will mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This includes imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is mentioned a few times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for "The Wisdom Of Shelley is deception. Each of these points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There are many poetic devices used throughout "The Wisdom Of Shelley". Repetition of words was the first thing that really jumped out at me. Clarke repeats the words "words words words" (4), and "loved loved loved" (15). What I believe this represents is how the character "X" only says empty words to what I presume is his family. If you need to repeat the word "loved" three times, then it starts to feel like you are only saying the words to make the other person happy. The first few lines of the poem say "You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin' with roses" (1–3) and this can be taken as "X" has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He suddenly shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed child does not want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and tone for what is going to happen in the poem. Since it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Am A Youth Counselor Friday September 18th, 1992 (11.39 a.m.) It was by pure coincidence and good fortune that Judy's birthday was the day after Harry's, giving Tom the perfect excuse (or so he told himself) to visit her after three and a half years of separation. He carried a single red rose in his hand, a simple gift that was all he could afford without asking Booker for money, and he loathed asking Booker for money. It had taken a long time, but he was slowing finding his independence, and he refused to take advantage of the man he loved. He knew it would take many more months of therapy before he had the confidence to re–enter the workforce, but he planned to pull his weight financially as soon as he could. While it was still a long way in the future, he hoped that one day, he could become a youth counselor. It was his dream to help those who were addicted to drugs find a new path in life, and he hoped his stint in prison would not hinder his ambition. He honestly believed he had a role to play in helping those who had lost their way. It was his destiny and if he could prevent one other person from ruining their life the way he had ruined his, then the last three years would have been worth all the pain. Although his transformation had been painfully slow, he finally felt as though he had a purpose in a world full of uncertainty. He had a clear vision for the future, but most importantly, he was slowly but surely, finding Tom Hanson. Therefore, as he stood outside of Judy's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Argument for Paying College Athletes Argument for Paying College Athletes Stephen Elting Mercy College Have you ever heard of a business that made billions of dollars, yet did not pay their employees? Seems pretty remarkable doesn't it? Well this business is known as the NCAA. According to an article in the New York Times, the NCAA made $770 million from just the three–week Men's Basketball Tournament, but how much did the athletes who participated in said tournament receive? If you said zero then you would be correct. The athletes that poured their blood, sweat and tears into practice everyday and into the 30 plus game regular season did not see a dime. It is hard to fathom how an industry of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ' But there 's nothing wrong with it. And you 're not going to convince me that there is something wrong with it (SI, 2013)." This is the feeling of many college athletes that were in the same boat or that are currently in the boat. They may not know where their next meal is coming from or how they are going to afford a car payment. Many will take money and not even question it. They know what they are doing is wrong and they are putting themselves and the school in jeopardy. At the time the reward is worth the risk they are taking. There are many other cases happening across the country that no one knows about. It is interesting how Foster came out and said how he felt that it was not a big deal and that he did not think he was doing anything wrong. He would fall into a large percent of college athletes that feel it is unfair for them to not see anything from all the revenue they bring in. Many will argue that college athletes do not need to be compensated because they are student– athletes; and the key word for them is student. One argument against paying college athletes is that they are basically receiving a free education from a top school. A four–year scholarship will cover everything a student–athlete needs. This includes: tuition, room and board, books, medical coverage and meals. For example, Duke University costs $57,180 to attend (Bleacher Report, 2013). • 75. Essay on Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter In Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, the theme of sin viewed through the prism of many colors is the essence of the novel. The protagonist, Hester, her child, Pearl, and the Reverend Dimmesdale all live in a Puritanical society in Boston, and are subject to the Puritans' strict religious beliefs and rigid attitudes. Exposed to sin and the temptation of its concealment in varying degrees, these characters evolve through the novel in different ways. Hawthorne brilliantly displays these differences by juxtaposing extreme and vivid colors—concealment is shown in dark, drab, and gloomy shades, while openness has a bright and colorful sheen. In this way, Hawthorne establishes a dichotomy between lack of color and color in order to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hawthorne creates a bleak setting with "A throng of bearded men, in sad–colored garments and gray, steeplecrowned hats" and a dark prison with a "beetle–browed and gloomy front" which was further shadowed by "weather stains and other indications of age, which gave a yet darker aspect" to the prison. From the darkness of this setting, a vividly contrasting images emerges of "a wild rose bush" that thrives with "delicate gems" and "fragile beauty". Hawthorne sets this colorful bush near "burdock, pig–weed, apple–peru, and such unsightly vegetation" which he describes as the "black flowers". In this way, Hawthorne establishes the dichotomy between color and lack of color at the outset of the book, and relates it to the personalities of the main characters. The astonishing survival of a sole colorful rose bush amidst the dark weeds symbolizes the potential for Hester and Pearl to survive the cruel puritanical punishments of the dark Puritans. Just as the rose bush radiates colorfully from its surroundings, Hester gleams in contrast to the large shadow of the Puritans that falls over the scaffold area. The Puritans are dressed in dark suits, "some wearing hoods" and others "bareheaded", and the hag–like women are gray and grungy with a "coarse fibre" and unembroidered attire. Hester ... • 77. Theme Of Symbols In Sons And Lovers In Sons and lovers, D.H Lawrence has made a very clever use of symbols. The novel abounds in symbolic objects and events. Yet they are so well integrated with the narrative that they hardly ever appear obtrusive. When understood, these symbols adds to the richness of the novel and enhances our appreciation of the novel. Mark Spikla says "The symbolic scenes are extremely literal and the symbols seem to function as integral strands in the webs of emotional tensions." In Sons and Lovers, we have a host of such symbolic scenes which have a catalytic effect upon the intensity of the plot and action in the novel. The description of coal pits is symbolic. The coal pits standing at the horizon are a concrete reality. The entire life of the community depends on them. Their symbolic significance become clearer as the novel progresses that these coal pits are a particular way of and a particular attitude towards life. They are closely associated with Walter Morel who stands for an irrational life principle. Paul associated them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1991, five freshmen from the University of Michigan brashly stepped over that line redefining the world of college basketball as we knew it and in the process, revolutionized the relationship between style and sport. These men were "fresh" in more ways than one, causing an entire nation to dub them fabulous. They brought a hip and a hop to a game that was previously flat. With a grin on his face and hands over knees, Juwan explains how they became five: "Back then high school basketball players weren't legitimate pro prospects so blue chip recruits would call other blue chip recruits in order to sway their decision." Ray, on the other hand, was a whole different story." Being from Texas and the son of a Preacher, Ray's decision really wasn't his. Ray's father made it clear that school and family come before basketball. Impersonating his father's initial response Ray can't help but get animated "Michigan? Ray you've never seen snow!" But when decision making time came Michigan's prestigious academic history, a full scholarship, and combined with the Ray's constant badgering was "the right choice" according to the Preacher. The fifth guy was Jimmy. Juwan didn't even have to call him. Before Jimmy was even off the phone with Coach Steve Fisher he made his decision to attend Michigan.
