Organs in Organ Systems
T F
Cells are organized into tissues
T F
T F
Different tissues form an organ

T F
When organs work together they form an organ system

The digestive system is responsible for the intake and transport T F
of oxygen

8. Cheat Sheet
Body Systems
Circulatory System
Transportation network that carries gases, nutrients, hormones, and wastes from
one part of the body to another
Digestive System
Ingests and digests (breaks down) food, absorbs food's nutrients into the blood,
eliminates undigested and unabsorbed food from the body
Endocrine System
Collection of glands, each of which secretes different types of hormones that
regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function,
reproduction, sleep, mood, etc.
Urinary System
Excretes (gets rid of) metabolic wastes; removes substances present in excess
from the blood
Integumentary System
Covers and protects the body
Muscular System
Allows the body to move; pumps blood; helps move internal materials (like
waste in intestines)
Nervous System
Sends, receives, and processes electrical impulses (messages) from external and
internal environment; controls activities of all the other systems along with the
endocrine system
Reproductive System
Enables the production of offspring through sexual reproduction, which
provides for continuation of the species
Respiratory System
Brings oxygen into the body and releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Skeletal System
Supports, protects, and gives shape to the body with its strong framework
9. That’s a Wrap
Journal Close (Next Day Entrance Slip)
1. Pick 2 organ system and list as many organs as
you can that belong to each system.
2. Write a short story by incorporating ten organs
into your story.
