concept presented by Sculpture at Work is to relate the
history and characteristic of selected streets in George
Town
using steel rod caricatures of local cartoonists
4. Baba Chuah
Chuah made his debut in the cartoon scene when he
was published in Falsafah Batu Api in 1991
This led to the use of his work by Creative Enterprise
for their "Fantasi" anthology series
In 2000, Baba Chuah entered the international scene
when his work, Midsummer Night's Hunt, was
published by the US publisher, Dark Horse, in Issue
No. 156
7. Lefty
His real name is Julian “Lefty” Kam
A comic book creator from Penang, Malaysia, and a
respected member of the comics community there
He has been in this industry since the 90′s. He started
out working in advertising while drawing comics part-
time
From 2000 onwards, he worked as an Art Director for
major comics publishers in Malaysia

He involved in contributing caricatures for the
Marking George Town project
For heritage buildings in Penang, Reggie created quirky
metalcraft tableaus that transcend race and culture
Reggie's cartoons appear in Malaysia's largest daily, The
Star
14. Tang Mun Kian
George Town Caricature Sculptures of Tang Mun Kian
adorn many street corners and strategic locations all
over George Town, Penang
A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art
He dabbled as an advertising art director for a decade
in Singapore
23. The picture was taken somewhere near Armenian Street,
George Town. The sculpture illustrates a metal art that shows
the celebration of Tua Pek Kong’s birthday. Because it was
The Year of the Tiger, statue of the tiger was carried through
the streets while being escorted by the Chingay march in
Georgetown. A British was observing the procession. He
happens to be thinking about the last tiger shot in 1930. This
metal art was sculpted by a famous local artist, Tang Mun
Kian, who happens to be on of the famous but humble artists
you can find here in Malaysia.
25. Intercultural Communication
Communication between different culture. (race,ethnic
or socioeconomic group).
In this metal art, there were intercultural
communication between a British man and two
Chinese man.
26. Non-Verbal Cues
From the metal art we can see that the British man was
holding a camera and a crutch indicating he is an old
tourist.
27. Proximity
Objects that are physically close to each other will be
perceived as a unit or a group.
As from what you can see from the picture there were
two Chinese man with similar feature were perceived as
same race.
