A 27 YEARS OLD GUY WHO FINDS 
INSPIRATIONS FOR HIS ARTWORKS 
FROM HIS DAILY LIFE. HE PAINTS FREE 
HAND MURALS FROM PICTURES HE 
CREATED AND HE ENJOYS THE MOST 
WHEN HE PAINTS IT FROM SCRATCH ALL 
BY HIMSELF. HE FRESH OFF HIS STUDIES 
IN MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY, LONDON 
AND STARTED ON A BACKPACKING TRIP 
ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. THREE WEEKS 
INTO HIS TRAVEL AND HE ENDED UP IN 
PENANG. HE DECIDED TO PAINT AS HE 
FOUND THE CITY VERY INSPIRING.
BABA CHUAH 
A LOCAL CARTOONIST, WHO MADE HIS 
DEBUT IN THE CARTOON SCENE WHEN 
HE WAS PUBLISHED IN 1991. HE IS ONE 
OF THE COMIC ARTISTS WHO ARE 
OFTEN MENTIONED WHEN TALKING 
ABOUT THE COMIC ROLE OF MALAYSIA. 
ALTHOUGH HE DIFFERS IN CULTURAL 
BACKGROUNDS, HE UNDERSTANDS 
MALAY CULTURE AND HE SHOWS GREAT 
ATTENTION TO DETAILS WITH HIS 
COMIC PAINTINGS THAT CHARACTERISE 
RURAL ATMOSPHERE AND TRADITIONAL 
MALAY’S ‘ADAT RESAM’.
LITTLE GIRL IN BLUE 
‘Little Girl in Blue’ is one of the large murals located 
at the wall of Muntri Street. It shows a little girl lifting 
herself up on with both hands. In the original 
photograph, the little girl has her hands on the side 
on the tables. Quite an amount of tourist comment 
that it is the scariest mural because of the 
appearance of the little girl in the painting.

REACHING UP 
‘Reaching Up’ is a mural art painted on a wall along 
Cannon Street in George Town. It was drawn by 
Ernest Zacharevic. It depicts a little boy reaching his 
arms upwards to reach a hole on the wall. The boy is 
standing on a chair, inching himself to reach the 
hole. If you look closer, you will notice that the artist 
drew the shadow of the boy. The chair of this 
painting is real too. These are to enable the painting 
to look more realistic.

A.K.A. CHAR KOAY TEOW 
‘Three generations’ a.k.a. ‘Char Koay Teow’ is a steel-rod 
sculpture celebrating Penang’s famous hawker 
food. Char Koay Teow is one of the famous 
traditional hawker foods and it is basically fried flat 
rice noodles. The sculpture is located on the wall 
along Sungai Ujong Road. It is based on a caricature 
by Baba Chuah.
