3. Shooting Pros & Cons:
There were both positives and negatives regarding today’s shoot. I have summarised the
positives and negatives below:
• Time Efficient
• Resourcefulness
• Determined
• Public Distractions
• Chilly Weather
• Shots Lacked Variety
As you can see, I felt that we were time efficient and made a good amount of progress
within the hour or so we were filming. On the other hand we were resourceful and looked
back at the Shot List which we brought along with us to see what shots we were going to
film today before arriving at the location. Finally we remained determined and made sure
the negatives didn’t out weigh the positives. Moving onto the negatives, there were many
people around, therefore at times we had to stop filming which hindered progress at times,
furthermore it was a cold morning which I think affected the ability for us to think on the
spot. In addition to this, we stuck with what we knew rather than going out of our
boundaries and doing more unique shots.
4. Shooting Takeaway’s:
Today was the first of 4 shoots for Crossroad Films. We have been waiting to put our ideas
to the test and today it finally got to happen. This shoot saw me and Brandon overcome
some rather interesting obstacles, however as I mentioned in the Pros and Cons slide, I
believe we remained determined and made sure that our focus remained on the task at
hand which was to film the shots that we needed to. In terms of my thoughts on the
location we used, which was Babbs Mill, I thought it was a good location, it had everything
we wanted and then some and we managed to create some nice looking shots which I think
will come across well in the trailer once it is finally edited. One of the main concerns of this
shoot was the fact that we stuck solely to the Shot List rather than been adventurous, but
that’s the purpose behind the Shot List I guess, use it to your advantage to remember key
shots as well as any props that may be needed for a specific shot. I look forward to
Tuesday’s shoot which will see Crossroad Films travel to 2 different locations for 2
interesting shoots.
