3. Shooting Pros & Cons:
There were both positives and negatives regarding today’s shoot. I have summarised the
positives and negatives below:
• Successful Locations
• Attention to Detail
• Time efficient
• Distractions
Today in my opinion the shoot went very well and there weren’t many problems with today’s
shoots (which is shown from the lack of cons from today’s shoot). The locations we used for
today’s shoots were both successful, firstly we used my garage as the main base of
operations for The Gripwell Killer (Brandon), then we moved over to Detective Foster’s office
which was based in a small office at our college. In both locations we used the environment
around us to our advantage, furthermore linking to the second pro of today’s shoot, we paid
attention to detail, for example in Detective Foster’s office we made sure that Detective
Foster had plenty of notes to show that he has been working on the case. Finally we were
time efficient today since we were able to get 2 shoots done in 1 day which was perfect for
Crossroad Films. The only con of today’s shoot was the fact that there were some
distractions here and there during the shoots but we managed to focus on the task at hand.
4. Shooting Takeaway’s:
Today we essentially did 2 shoots in 1 day. Both of the locations that we filmed at worked
out perfectly for us and there were little problems with today’s shoots. Compared to the
first shoot we did last Friday, I think we did far better this time due to the fact that our
locations were in isolated areas so it was just me and Brandon rather than having members
of the public interrupt filming which was a common trend in the last shoot we did for
Crook. In addition to this, the fact that we also paid close attention to the props we used
within our location also made our shoots today successful, props can make a film better
and today I feel that the props had a huge impact in making our trailer shots feel more
organic. Originally we had planned to do 4 shoots, however we have since changed and
decided to do 3 shoots, therefore our final shoot for Crook will take place next Tuesday
which will focus on Detective Foster discovering his family at his home. Hopefully next
Tuesday’s shoot will be as successful as this weeks shoot.
