UPPCL distribution 33/11 kv substation, arail
have installed in 1987 and its capacity of 10MVA.
Now Mr. Ashok kumar (juniour engg.) is incharge of
arail substation.
There are 4 operator-
1. Mr. Sandeep singh(senior operator)
2. Mr. Rambriksh
3. Mr. Sanjay yadav
4. Mr. R.K patel(Out source)

6.  Incoming lines
There are two 33 KV incoming lines
1. From EHV substation Sarsaul
2. From north allahabad
 Lightning arrester
The substation equipments such as conductors, transformers,
etc., are always erected outdoor.
Whenever light surges occur then, a high-voltage pass through
these electrical components causing damage.
Therefore, to avoid this difficulty, lightening arresters are
placed to pass the entire lightening surges to earth.
Ratings – 9 KA

7. Isolator
These have three stacks of
post insulators.
The central post insulator
carries a tubular or flat male
contact which can be rotated
horizontally with rotation of
central post insulator.
This rod type contact is also
called moving contact.
Rating – 33kv 1600A , 11kv 7

9. Busbar
The conductor carrying current
and having multiple
numbers of incoming and
outgoing line connections
can be called as bus bar,
which is commonly used in
substations.
There are two busbar
1.for 11kv
2. for 33kv

5MVA /33kv/3 phase
Rated current -200A
Rated step voltege-412.5V
No of tapping position-17
Connection- delta to star

11.  Current Transformer
It is used for the measurement of the
alternating current by taking samples
of the higher currents of the system.
Rating- 400/200/100-5/5
Potential transformer
It is used for taking samples of high
voltages of a system for providing low-
voltage to the relays of protection
system and also to the low-rating
meters for voltage measurement.

12.  Substation transformer
It is normal pole mounted
distribution transformer.
Rating 11 kv/415 or230 v
Used to supply substation control
room.
Ex. Lighting, motor control etc

13. Capacitor bank
Normally, due to load impedance ,the
terminal Voltage get reduced.
Hence in order to maintain bus bar
voltage as constant, i.e To improve
power factor , capacitance have to be
connected to the bus bars

14. Control Room
 A control room's purpose
is production control.
 It serves as a central space
where a large physical facility
or physically dispersed service
can be monitored and
controlled.

15. Metering
Operator should take the reading
of all feeders at every hour on log
sheet.
Load on the transformer ,p.f.,
temperature etc
This all reading upload online by
using EMPLOYEE MITRA
application.

 Training has an important role in exposing the real life situation
in an industry.
 It was a great experience for me to work on training at UPPCL
33/11 Kv distribution substation through which I could learn how
to work in a professional environment.
