1. 6. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing the product?
2. Research-Art of the title
• We did lots of research prior to planning and producing our
final opening sequence.
• Our research started at the website ‘artofthetitle.com’ which
helped us look around at the different types of opening
sequences that have been produced and the ideas that we did
and didn’t like. This helped us decide on the style we wanted
for our own opening sequence.
3. Research-YouTube
• Once we had decided on a brief idea of what we wanted to produce
we did more specialized research that focused directly on what we
wanted to do.
• Using YouTube we watched a variety of opening sequences and got
most of our inspiration from ones produced by Disney, such as
Cinderella. By doing this we got lots more ideas and it gave us an
even clearer picture of what we were going to produce.
4. Research-YouTube
• We also used YouTube when it came to producing our story
board. For this we researched scenes filmed in library's and
found a very useful one from the film Se7en.
• By watching this we were able to see what kind of shots
and camera angles looked effective and it gave us
inspiration when coming up with our own shots to draw up
our story board.
5. Research- Tutorials
• Finally I used YouTube, along with other tutorials, another
time when we decided we were going to do some sort of
animation.
• I had no idea how to do animation and found out that I
would need to use flash to do this so decided to briefly
watch different tutorials and read up on how to use the
program.
6. Planning
• When we had a very clear idea on exactly what we were going to do we decided to
double check a few extra things before we began filming.
• This included going to our venue (Peterborough library) and planning out how we
were going to film certain shots, where the lighting was best, what time of day
would be best(when is least busy) and simple things like making sure the camera
battery is charged.
• By doing this we were able to get the filming done quick and efficiently in the future.
7. Construction-Camera
• To complete filming we had to learn how to use the
camera we were given.
• This wasn’t particularly hard in general but to film
some of our shots with the effect we wanted I had to
figure out how to put the camera on manual focus
and then film the shots a few times to get the final
product right and how we had imagined it too look.
8. Construction- Editing
• After we had all of our filming we had to
transfer the clips on to the mac ready for
editing.
• The original file format did not work on the
macs and so we had to try out a variety of
formats to work out which one worked best
on the mac.
9. Construction-Final Cut Pro
• After we had found the correct format for our
videos we began to start editing.
• To do this we used final cut pro which we had
never used before. I have used other software
similar to this and so just had to adapt my
knowledge to learn how to use the
programme and start editing.
10. Construction-Flash
• When it came to producing the animation at the end
of our opening sequence I had to learn how to use
the software ‘Flash’ to complete this.
• Using flash was one of the hardest things to learn
while producing our opening sequence but I did this
via tutorials and getting advice and teaching off
other people.
11. Construction- Garage Band
• To produce the music for our opening
sequence we had to learn the basics of garage
band.
• Luckily I have a friend who could help us a lot
with this and we were able to make a final
sound track to put over the top of our opening
sequence.
12. Evaluation-Feedback
• When we had finished our opening sequence we decided to get a variety of
feedback to see if there was anything we could change and make better.
• We firstly showed our teacher a number of times who gave us feedback on
certain shots that could be made shorter and how we could film other shots
slightly differently to make them look more effective.
• We took on board all of this feedback and made the appropriate changes to
out final sequence.
13. Evaluation-Feedback
• The other type of feedback we got was via questionnaires. We made two
questionnaires, one for out target audience (children) and one for there
parents.
• This enabled us again to take on board what they had said and make changed
to our opening sequence so that the final piece is as good as it can be.
• From this we added and took away a variety of things including, production
logos at the start and more establishing shots showing the girl walking around.
