2. Male/female – I have mainly represented boys/men through out my product.
This has been proven by having only males through out my product rather than the
alternate to females. The reason I have done this is because in order to place
women in my product which would have liked to would have meant that I would
have to use some explicit content. In the rap genre women are usually represented
as a material or an object for men to boast about, expressing there women
features heavily over anything else. As my product is a school made product it
meant that It would be un appropriate to present. The way I have used males is to
use there alpha male trait and express them as superior beings. I have done this
by using strong poses that try to show and egotistical mentality.
Adults/Teenager – my target audience is old teenage males/ young adults.
Therefor the images I have used on my products are mature older males. It would
make sense to do this at it helps me create some synergy between my target
audience and my product, also it links with Maslow's theory of belonging. If I used
an older male or a younger male there would be little connection between target
audience and my product meaning there would be little incentive to purchase the
product.
3. Harris publications as seen in the image
produces a mainstream hip hop
magazine called XXL. Along with many
other genres this companyproduces
some of thebiggest magazines. Italso
helps that theyrelease a rap magazine as
it proves they would be likely to want to
produce myown magazine.
Another reason that this
institution would be likely to
want to take on my product I
because it slightly fits their
household of magazine. In
fact I worked my product
around some of these when I
did my market research. For
example the masthead is
behind the strong image
which I have, also the cover
lines are structured along side
the left hand side of the page
similar to mine.
My magazine would cost
around £3.50 and would
be available through
internet purchase. The
reason for this is because
my magazine wouldn’t
be stocked in a shop
such as Tesco's as it has a
very specific audience.
For example not
everybody would be
attracted therefore
putting it in a general
shop wouldn’t be as
efficient to sell.
4. NEWPROGRAMMES I WORKED WITH-
Photo shop-
I had to learn my way around this website in order to make my image as representative as possible. For example I wanted to
blur the background in order to make the main image stronger and more powerful. I hadn’t used this programme before so I
had to get peers to enable me to work with the colouring and lighting. I lowered the lighting od the background and
increased that of the foreground to highlight the main image. I have showed this on a previous blog.
Blogger-
I obviously had to learn how to use blogger in order to post all my work. At first I had troubles navigating my way around the
website. After I learnt how to use it and how I could take advantage of the software I attempted to tamper with the design of
my own blog. I messed with the colours and the background and found it fairly enjoyable. It was important for me to learn
the ways of the website in order to post my content in different ways.
Slide share-
I had to find out how to work this website in order to allow me to upload my PowerPoints that I had crated when doing
research and evaluations such as this one. It allowed me to upload a good about of context in a single post which was key we
doing in depth research. The way I learnt was once again from google and from peers and I learnt the rule of the embedded
code and how it enabled me to transfer data.
Prezi-
This was my least successful website mainly because I couldn’t find a way to upload it to my blog. The programme allowed a
diverse way for looking at PowerPoints giving them a more aesthetically pleasing look. I made a couple of Prezi's when doing
research on my genre and also when evaluating my product but unfortunately I could not upload them. This is one thing I
would change for next time.
