3. SITE ACTIVITY MAPPING
WEEK 7 SITE CONTEXT
During my shift of ushering the UTS College Graduation, I went to the Alumni Green to create a
analysis of the students movements after the graduation, as they took pictures around the area.

When collecting data for my site, I took note of the usage of the space on my site. I roughly
sketched the areas, and the circulation of the site with a printed outline, and took photos of
the area to understand what people can see, feel, & hear.
During site analysis, I sketched down the area and its key/noticed areas
such as directions, stairs, circulation & more.

I first did a simple figure-ground site analysis giving emphasis on the
goods line.
I wanted to highlight nearby areas such as UTS Buildings, noticed the
grayscale would not show proper definition of nearby areas.

Added a palette to emphasize more
of the locations such as residential and
commercial space. Then for the final
panel diagram changed the layout to
fit other parts of the diagram.
I realized creating the axonometric dia-
gram, at this angle it does not showcase the
view of my site, so I changed its perspective
so the building does not block it.

7. PAVILION ITERATIONS PAVILION ITERATIONS
Through sketches, I wanted to revamp
the current amphitheatre into something
more accesible and properly utilized as
there is much space not used.
At first I wanted to maximize the size of
my site, but late on reduced the size of
the pavilion as it would be too large.
Revised the pavilion to be built on one
side of the site and created a space in
beteween to allow for better circulation
and better utilization of the space.
After sketching I went onto rhino to create
the 3d Model.
At first, I was not able to properly execute the design I wanted to do onto rhino. So I went
back to sketching to understand what I can do to create a more unique structure.
After seeing different angles of the model, I went onto rhino and executed the shape using
SubD tools to allow a more professional and progressive design in architecture.

Applying SubD Skills onto rhino I was able to create a more fluid-form model. After sketch-
ing over the model, I received feedback to alter some parts of the model from my teacher.
After applying the necessary changes, I received a bit more feedback to adjust the design
to create a more seamless design.
Final design of the pavilion. Went on to render plans, sections and axonometric diagrams.

9. DRAFT PROGRAMME DIAGRAM
WEEK 8 PROGRAMME
AXONOMETRIC & PERSPECTIVE DRAFTS
After curating all the necessary information and diagrams, I first wanted to sketch layouts to
properly display my work to the panel.
I tried multiple designs to display the diagrams to be properly visible from afar. I scaled
some diagrams bigger to utilize the space of the panel and organized them accordingly.
Additionally, I created an axonometric and perspective diagrams to present the space at
better angles to see the dyanmic movement that can be done throughout the pavilion.

When creating the pavilion, I had two precedents in mind. The CCP Pavilion by menthol ar-
chitects, where they created a space to gather, receive and visualize. And, the Frame Pavil-
ion by Republica Portatil, where they encourage to capture a moment and have paths that
frame specific movements and sceneries.
So in my pavilion, I created steps that climb up and are accessible for people to gather and
converse seated. From the unused space of the amphitheatre I opened up a path that al-
lows for better circulation.

Refelection
Within three weeks, I was able to curate a design for a pavilion that I
thought I would not be able to create. With the help of my teachers
and fellow classmates, I was able to understand what I needed to do
and tried to iterate designs.
From the beginning, I have always wanted to do something that in-
volves ‘curves’ but I did not have a fully fleshed out concept, unlike
my other peers. Yet, after each assessment I still found myself leaning
onto something more innovative.
During the day of presenting, I was confident enough to present but
the nerves always get in the way. But, after presenting I did not expect
the feedback given to me. Especially since, I felt like I did not do my
best. But, given the circumstances and it being my first ever studio, I
am happy to say the progress and build up to everything was genu-
inely worth it as I am able to embrace desiging more and starting to
understand what concepts I would like to do in the future.
Overall, studio has always been a difficult subject to grasp yet this
was the most eye opening subject out of all, I am very grateful for the
amount of help and feedback provided by my peers, my teacher and
panelists, and I cannot wait to enter University to create more designs
and collaborate with other people.
