Currently, I am conducting research aimed at further exploring virtual touch sensations in an e-commerce environment. Whether consumers use touch to obtain information or merely to enjoy sensory feedback, touch plays an important role in purchase decisions. Unfortunately, the possibilities in mediated environments to provide physical touch are few. Nevertheless, the ongoing upsurge in the number of mediated environments and devices (PC, smartphone, tablet) has spurred researchers to look for surrogates for direct physical contact.
