Caleb Hickman took a business administration class that helped him learn important life lessons. He enjoyed assignments that helped him set goals, identify career interests, and reflect on what he learned by writing to future students. Journaling on chapters about visualization, asking for help, and living for oneself helped him gain self-awareness. Module 7 on stress management was his favorite. The key takeaways were to try different approaches if something isn't working, take responsibility for his own life rather than living for others, and stop seeing himself as a victim. Self-assessments show he increased his personal responsibility, motivation, management skills, and emotional intelligence, moving from a victim mindset to taking ownership of his outcomes.

ME SET A GOAL FOR THIS SEMESTER. I ALSO ENJOYED IT BECAUSE IT TAUGHT ME
HOW TO PROPERLY SET GOALS. AND IT IS NICE TO LOOK BACK ON IT NOW TO BE
ABLE TO SEE WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS CAPABLE OF.
THE CAREER ASSIGNMENT: I ENJOYED THIS ONE BECAUSE I WAS STILL UNSURE OF
WHAT I WANTED TO MAJOR IN. IT HELPED SHOW ME WHAT MY STRENGTHS WERE
AND WHAT I WOULD BE GOOD AT. IT ALSO MATCHED ME WITH CAREERS THAT
WOULD BE A GOOD FIT.
THE LETTER TO THE NEXT CLASS: I ENJOY WRITING, AND I FOUND OUT HOW MUCH
INFORMATION I RETAINED FROM THIS CLASS BY WRITING THE LETTER. IT HELPED ME
HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT I HAVE LEARNED BY EXPLAINING IT TO
SOMEONE ELSE. IT SHOWED ME HOW MUCH MY MINDSET HAS CHANGED SINCE
THE BEGINNING OF THIS CLASS.
3. CHAPTER 3 JOURNAL: I LEARNED THAT HAVING A VISUALIZATION INCREASED MY
MOTIVATION TO DO MY BEST. I ALSO LEARNED HOW MUCH VALUE I PLACE ON A
COLLEGE DEGREE. TO GET TO WHERE I WANT TO BE I WILL NEED MORE THAN JUST A
HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION.
CHAPTER 5 JOURNAL: I LEARNED THAT I DO NOT LIKE TO ASK FOR HELP, THAT I
ONLY LIKE DOING THINGS ON MY OWN. I ALSO LEARNED THAT IT IS OK TO ASK FOR
HELP. AND THAT IT IS NOT A BAD THING TO NEED, AND THAT YOU SHOULD SEEK
OUT HELP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
CHAPTER 6 JOURNAL: I LEARNED THAT I WAS TRYING TO LIVE FOR OTHERS. AND I
WAS FOCUSING TOO MUCH ON WHAT OTHERS EXPECTED OF ME RATHER THAN
PURSUING WHAT I WANTED. IT HELPED ME FIGURE OUT WHAT I REALLY WANTED.
4. MODULE 7 WAS THE BEST
I ENJOYED MODULE 7 THE MOST BECAUSE WE HAD A DISCUSSION ABOUT
STRESS, WHICH IS SOMETHING EVERYONE HAS TO DEAL WITH. IT WAS
NICE TO LEARN A NEW APPROACH ON IT. I ALSO ENJOYED IT BECAUSE WE
WROTE THE LETTER TO THE NEXT CLASS, WHICH HELPED STRENGTHEN MY
UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT I LEARNED IN THIS CLASS. ANOTHER REASON
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE MODULE IS BECAUSE WE DID OUR SELF-
ASSESSMENT AGAIN, SO I WAS ABLE TO SEE MY GROWTH IN THIS CLASS
AFTER APPLYING WHAT I HAD LEARNED.
